Been on a road trip for a bit and wanted something different. Found this place and was excited. No sushi bar at this restaurant. Staff was to the point. Sushi came out quickly and was large cuts. Overall a good experience. The rolls were loose but that does not bother me. If I was back in the area I would stop again. Place was not crowded during the week around 7pm. Wow! It's not my first time at Tokyo but it is definitely my, and my families, last visit. Mother's Day weekend dinner. 3 of us sat at the table over 8 minutes before being addressed. When we ordered drinks we ordered food as well. It was another 25 minutes for 2 sushi rolls. When she checked on us awhile later I mentioned we still hadn't received the Yakasobi dish. She left to check on it. Awhile later she came by and apologized saying the kitchen was backed up. Quite awhile later she apologized again. I asked for it to be comped. She came back later and said she could only give half off. I asked for a manager. She had to call him and said he was only offering half off the dish. We sat over an hour waiting for a dish that never came. Horrible service. Horrible managing. read more

It's not too often I write a review, it has to be really an incredible experience. TJR is exactly that! Hands down, the best sushi my wife and I have found in Idaho. We found this gem while on an extended weekend getaway Not only is the food great, the service is stellar. Our waitress, Nurveta is kind, friendly,prompt, attentive and helpful and the owner Tony, really great guy, just great people, couldn't ask for anything better! We were so impressed, we came back the next day for lunch. As far as recommendations of rolls, we recommend the Orange County Roll, Barney Rubble and the Mt. Fuji roll. These rolls are artistic, unique combinations of fish and toppings, along with the textures and tastes, it truly is amazing. One last thing, highly recommend the Salmon Nigiri. The cut of the Salmon nigiri is like salmon butter in your mouth,, amazing! read more

our usual sushi place wasn't open so we tried Tokyo. the rolls are dinky, they shorted our order by a bunch. overall not impressed, the amount of options they have for sushi is extremely limited. 10 out of 10 would not go back or refer anyone else to. First timer. I end up coming here cause other restaurants was packed and had a long wait and came by a visit from California even tho I used to live here. So the Place is nice and the servers are nice and polite. The food I ordered was good and decent. except!! Why does my sashimi mix comes with a salad on the same plate. Normally every sushi restaurant has reddish springs with their sashimi and the menu might need more work on details on the food. That's the only problem I had. Everything else is great. read more

OMG! Had a wonderful experience here the other night! Excellent service and the food was SO good! I don't eat seafood but I love sushi so, when I saw Chicken Teriyaki sushi on the menu, I knew I had to try it! We had a chicken yakisoba, a tempura Alaskan roll, and the teriyaki chicken sushi. Just finished lunch at Tokyo, one of our long time go to's in Twin Falls. Sorry to say that was my least favorite trip here. They missed the mark that I have become used to from them. Sushi portions seemed smaller, the spider roll literally fell apart when you tried to pick it up, almost needed a spoon to eat it. Had 3 rolls, and shared the deluxe salad.The salad was a soggy nearly inedible mess. Worst salad ive had since Buddys salad in Pocatello gave me food poisoning 7 years ago. Hope it was a one-off, because if thats the new standard here, they might be coming off my list. Wish I would taken a picture of the salad for you all to see, it was pretty sad, that lettuce should have been thrown out days ago. read more

I grabbed lunch here last week and it was truly a pleasure. The lady waitress (cute brunette with glasses) was friendly and took great care of us. The dining area has a ton of windows, and ample seating options. You can enter from the front or the side. I had the spicy tuna rolls and they were great! No complaints! Presentation was beautiful! We ordered from Tokyo through Grubhub. Our food was promptly delivered to our hotel room. Our order included a spicy tuna roll, a unagi roll and shrimp and veggie tempura. The tempura was perfect. They have a beautiful space and sushi bar. 2 separate entrances to enter from. Food and service was excellent only down the star due to long wait. It's a bit of a small establishment, but that wasn't an issue at all. There was still plenty of seating. My 4 year old and I were hungry and she asked for sushi, so we gave this spot a try, since the others didn't open until later. We were greeted and seated quickly. Drinks arrived promptly as well. The place smelled SO good when we entered. We ordered rolls, the Crystal roll and the Caterpillar. Both were very good and arrived fairly quickly. The crystal roll was so good we got a second one after we finished. The table next to us ordered the beef teriyaki dinner and a chicken teriyaki bowl and they both looked and smelled amazong. I was really hoping for more with this restaurant, but everyone expects something different. After waiting 20 minutes after being seated, the waiter came for my drink order and I gave him my lunch order as well. It still took a very long time. Music in a restaurant is usually not a big deal to me, but it was ONLY ColdPlay for about an hour. I didn't even want to be there an hour, but the waiter came back in and began the album over again after it had finally stopped. Why? I have no idea. My first dish came with Salmon and Eel. The fish seemed warmer than it should be, and the rice did not lift well and fell apart when I went to eat it. The Tempura Roll was difficult. It also was not tight enough, nor small enough to manage without making a huge mess. The tempura around the shrimp was also gummy, and the texture was very unappealing. I paid $20 for that experience, and it was difficult to get my server's attention. I didn't finish my meal later because it would have required a spoon to do so. Perhaps I came in on an off day. I think there is room for improvement, particularly in technique for dishes and server attentiveness. If my stars are low, I will come back for a second round just to be sure that my first experience was not typical. This time I will say something about the music if it gets weird too. My husband said we should try this place because it had been years since we had sushi. I picked this place because I figured Oki would be pretty busy on a Saturday night. Tokyo was doing steady business with a varied mix from date night couples to families with kids. The service was prompt and super friendly, the dining room was clean. Our drinks were kept full. We ordered a variety of rolls and some fried dumplings. Definitely the best pot stickers I've had, probably made in house. My 9 year old liked the tuna roll a great deal. It was very fresh and bright. I had the tempura roll. It was a large roll and a little unwieldy, but the flavor, clean, sweet shrimp and tender green beans were to die for. I generally HATE eel, but the eel roll was very good, not mealy and fishy like it usually is in most sushi restaurants. The California Roll was a California roll. If people want to bitch it's too plain they should have ordered something else. I like them, but I know they are nothing new. Anyway, it was a nice light dinner that we all enjoyed and I will be back. My kid is already pestering me. read more

While I am reticent in updating my review, I know I would be irked if I relied on the original one. On our last three visits here, our experience made us completely underwhelmed to the point I was ready to write it off, and finally have. The food quality has deteriorated tremendously. Tempura, on 3 separate occasions has been drenched with grease to the point of dripping once bitten. Gross! Yakisoba was so desiccated, it looked as though it had sat on a desert floor for a few days. I'm not on 'Survivor'...I'd rather not put questionable things in my mouth. The poke bowl was nothing short of a strang filled bowl of rice on the side. Tuna / cucumber / avocado ratio was schizophrenic. An absolute fail. This was the worst sushi I have ever had in my life. We got 3 separate rolls to share and they were all flavorless. Well. One of them tasted how I imagine wet feet taste like after a long day at the gym. We went in for pickup. The restaurant was completely packed with humans despite the pandemic. The fact that it was packed seemed like a good sign but after we brought our food home and consumed it we decided that idaho just has a different flavor palate than texas. This is one of many restaurants that we have tried in this state where the food is just bland. Or worse. Don't get me wrong though, we have found a few great places here. The restaurant had a great vibe going and next time I come through Twin Falls I will most likely go here again. When traveling we never miss a chance to check out a local sushi restaurants. We have eaten Sushi from most all the States. SO~~We were welcomed as we enter. They were busy but one server gave us menus and said your server will be right with you. And she was. Up side: service was spot on, presentation look just like the pictures on their website . The service was great but the food was questionable. Miso soup was an over salty instant broth with pasta in it! That was the first.. pasta and miso that wasn't even miso. SERVICE excellant service. prompt, attentive and patient to accomodate some of my *spoiled* las vegas requests (extra sauces, rolls not on menu, etc). i also found the staff happy and cheerful - which made me happy to eat there.^^ FOOD i don't understand how some people are saying that the sushi is 5-star worth... it's not. i thought the "freshness" of the meats were a little off and the "taste" average. additionally, 90% of the menu items can be found at any basic sushi restaurant (vegas roll, rainbow roll, etc) and that the menu even lacked BASIC sushi menu items (Volcano Roll, NJ Roll, Dragon Roll, Salmon Sashimi, etc)... pretty much a small sushi menu for a place with "sushi" in it's name. HOWEVER, the food is adequate and my chef was creative enough to make a good "dragon roll" (not on menu) and a beautifully presented display for my "salmon sashimi" (not on menu). PRICING average roll costs... i'm kicking myself for not asking if they do "half-roll" prices as i ordered quite a bit to see what people are "raving" about. CLOSING again, i know i'm not eating at a Vegas restaurant... so i'm guessing that this is the best in Twin Falls, ID.^^; if it weren't for the outstanding service i recieved, i would've punched in a 3-Star.^^; read more

I really loved eating here. After reading all of the reviews I decided I should give this place a try. We came with 7 people so not a small party. It was very fun the whole staff interacts with you and gives good suggestions on food. TSince this is not an all you can eat joint we went family style which was awesome everyone shared everything. I know don't eat fish if you can't see the ocean. Well that rule can be broken here. Everything from the sashimi to the rolls were great. I would highly reccomend the squid apetizers it was awesome. The cucumbers were fantasticly paired with the squid. For dinner we ordered several rolls. There is one not on the menu that was awesome it is called the Mount Fuji. There are too many things to list on it ask the staff about it you will be amazed! The Barney Rubble was A+, Las Vegas A+, The scallpos sashimi C (No real taste), Tuna A- to B+. We also ordered the Happy Tokyo (pictured) HOLY COW this thing is huge!!!! Definitly enough food for two people. And all A+ quality items.
