Great food. Great service. If you have kids with you they will seat you back by the kitchen :/ but the ambiance is beautiful and peaceful, ands the food is great. Even the dishes are beautiful. Best fried rice in town, hands down. I always get the chicken and shrimp dinner with Miso soup and salad with yum-yum sauce, and it's a great meal. Grandchild loves the shrimp tempura sushi. Look and feel of a traditional Japanese hibachi restaurant. The sushi on the menu looked to be a strong reason for another look at this restaurant but the hibachi fare was less than stellar. Shrimp was overcooked with too much of the final flavoring sauce but the scallops were exceptionally done. Noodles presented much more favorably than the fried rice but both were tasty. The veggies were also very good. The service was attentive and the hibachi chef was competent but not as entertaining as is customary at other popular Japanese steakhouses. I'll be back to try the sushi but would head to Columbus if looking for a Japanese hibachi meal. read more

about 5 tables seated in the booth side of the restaurant, were there for 1 hour and 15+ minutes. All of which waited in by a roughly 13 year old girl. After about 30 min we needed refills, 30 min later the host comes by and gets them for us. Our "waitress" ignored our table, checked on every table but ours twice, other groups didn't seem satisfied either, one lady walked to the kitchen to ask for refills. 3 tables who arrived after us that were larger parties than us got their food. We ordered 10 min into being there (meals and appetizer). but unfortunately left after 1 hour and 15+ min after not even getting our appetizer. Went the day after Christmas after watching a movie at the theater for lunch with family of nine. The experience was very nice and the food was good. Forgot one portion of chicken and had to cook it at the last minute using a bowl to cover the chicken, which resulted in being steamed and tough. Lunch prices are much better than dinner prices. Man if you have the time, check this place out. The value is GREAT and the service is just as good. I got my food on time and prepared with care. I loved the specials and the menu is quite diverse. For such a small town, this place is going to be one of the better sushi experiences. I will for sure be back next time I am in town for business. read more

Went to celebrate a birthday. Some in our party didn't order hibachi. Waitress was very rude. Food wasn't that impressive. Those that did order hibachi were disappointed in the so call show. A child in the party had something floating in his drink. Instead of getting him a new cup it was dumped and refilled. When his mother said something, the waitress was very rude with her. Very good food here! Being in Newark and formerly living in Souther California, I had very low expectations of what sushi would be here.....oh boy was I wrong. Tokyo does a great job with their sushi with freshness and flavors rival of that on the West Coast mecca of Asian cuisine. A truly underrated place that any sushi lover would be at home in. I love sushi. In the 17 years I've lived in this area we've had only 4 restaurants that serve sushi and all of them opened within the last 5-6 years so until then I had to go to Easton or Columbus to get sushi and frankly the first 3 weren't all that. This newest one, Tokyo, is BY FAR the best. I've been 4 times now. Once to the hibachi grill which is fun for my kids but frankly has gotten old for me - not this place specifically but all of them. The last 3 times we've sat at the sushi bar at lunchtime (but there is also very nice table seating in this area away from the hibachi stuff). We've tried most of the rolls on the 3-for-$10 lunch deal and all were delicious. At lunch we've also been given miso soup, a green salad and 2 out of 3 times, a free salad from the sushi bar, usually crabstick and cucumber with sesame or that sort of thing. We've also tried a bento box (tempura) and that was delicious and filling - we usually have to take some of our lunch home because we can't finish it. At lunch everything in the restaurant is basically half price so that's when the deal is best, but honestly the sushi here deserves a dinner visit too. The service has been flawless each visit..we've been seated promptly, served quickly, and never had to so much as look up for a drink refill or check. Currently my favorite restaurant. read more

Tokyo offers both hibachi and table dining - we opted for table dining since we wanted to just eat sushi. We ordered an appetizer, rolls, and mochi ice cream for dessert. Everything was tasty. One little thing I noticed is that in one of our rolls the rice tasted as if it had been sitting in a fridge and not fresh. We dined early on a Monday night and service was good. Our food was brought out quickly and our server was friendly and very efficient. She made some good roll recommendations too. Overall I think we had a good experience at Tokyo and it's a good option for Japanese food in town. read more

My boyfriend asked me to choose where to go for date night last night. I hadn't been there in years. We should have guessed something was off by the place being completely empty on a Saturday night. The food was WAY overpriced for the quality. The sushi was about the same as what you can buy at Kroger, clearly NOT freshly rolled. My boyfriend got a steak bento box and ordered it medium and it came out BLUE and cold. The least expensive item (unless you want to but sushi ala carte at $8 for two pieces), was $20.99. I'm hoping this place makes a comeback and just sucks right now because of the pandemic. No one wants to pay $30 a person for low grade food, especially not a specialty food like sushi. read more

I've frequently visited Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse for several years primarily on the weekends and in the dinning area (not hibachi grill area). The food is consistently good and very reasonably priced, under $8 for hibachi and fried rice with soup and salad. I've yet to find another Japanese steakhouse, in any location, which rivals the consistent quality of food and value. read more

Good tasting food. Sat with people we didn't know and had a good time. The cook and sever were very funny and friendly. Birthday song and music is fun and hilarious. Prices are competitive compared to other Japanese steakhouses. The outside of the building isn't impressive, but the inside environment caught me off guard and was quite impressive. I was traveling for work, and like to eat well on the road. For the middle of nowhere Ohio, this was some great sushi! I had the lobster roll and it was fantastic. Definitely a better choice than any of the 50 chain restaurants nearby. Super nice family running the place too. read more

Sake and beer were well priced. Servers were way overloaded. I'd call it a hibatchi and "sushi" restaurant. We were there on a Saturday night and there were two servers for the whole place, so, clearly, bad news. Our server was frazzled but she acted like the situation was normal and this was a standard situation, so, clearly, bad news. It took forever to get everything, but she was full of sunshine and bubblegum, so shame on management, and stars for the actual waitress. Ambiance was intensely cheesy, with a little bridge by the hostess stand and picture menus with their sashimi offerings. The sushi we ordered was run-of-the-mill, but the hot entrees were good. Good luck on the ordering, though, because they just list items with very little explanation and those items are not standard fare you should know. We took some chances and has success, but the menu added to the unprofessional atmosphere. It was really just "fine". I wouldn't not go back, but I wouldn't suggest it. read more

This place is so good. I've only had a bad experience once and that is on the hibachi side. The chef doesn't give equal proportions to the people sitting at the grill. I was over charged for a meal even though I had a coupon and the manager argued with me about using it. (First tried to say it was expired and then tried to say it didn't cover my meal, both were false and clearly stated on the coupon) On the other side of the restaurant (is split between hibachi and sushi) tho, WOW! THE SUSHI IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST IN THE WHOLE CITY. The wait staff is so nice and knowledgeable and always keeping the drinks full. The yum yum roll is the best sushi I have ever had and I think I'm now obsessed. Very very good and I'd say this is a great place to bring company. We eat here about once a week! read more

The service was terrible. When we walked in, the hostess looked at us multiple times and would go somewhere else but she finally came up to us and asked if she could help us with anything. We then proceeded to be seated, but didn't see our server for 15 minutes. The waitress forgot about my glass of wine and I never had the chance to ask for it because she only came around a couple of times while we were there. We put in a to go order and they only made the steak so we then had to wait additional time to receive the food. I asked for white rice and they said that was fine but right before they gave me the food they said they could only do fried rice. Lastly, we ordered a shrimp entree and the chef only gave her 4 pieces of shrimp because he forgot about her order. We were there for over 2 hours. Found a piece of plastic in my already disappointing yakiudon that was reminiscent of saran wrap. They were polite-nice about it, paying for my meal - but there is no excuse for poor sanitation and flavorless food. What good is free food if you've ruined my appetite, mood, and dining experience for me and my company. (Only went here in the first place because Royal Thai is closed on Sundays. Bummer.) read more

This place was fantastic!!! We went there while visiting friends in the area, and I was impressed! The food was perfectly cooked, the staff amazingly friendly, and the decor was beautiful! I just wish it wasn't a 3 hour drive from my home :) Great place for a group of friends to meet up for dinner. I would say 3.5 stars would be more accurate but 4 stars is fine. I went here with my family and we had reservations. The waiter and waitress were quite unorganized but friendly, and when we asked if we could get extra silverware and a glass we got neither, so we fetched it ourselves. Not too big of a deal, but the place wasn't busy... Food was very delicious (steak & chicken with fried rice + yum yum sauce) and performance was nice. The restaurant simply lacks any finesse or subtlety. I had the seafood teriyaki and every item on my plate was swimming in a sweet teriyaki sauce. The salad was caked in a thick mayo-Japanese dressing and the miso soup was flavorless. My daughter disagrees with this harsh assessment but, alas, she can get her own yelp account. This is really just the area's version of Benihana. There is something a bit tired about the place. To me a Japanese restaurant should be fresh in food, decor and a bit sexy. This was about as sexy as an 80 year old grandpa ready for a nap. read more

Horrible hibatchi. I've been there twice. The second time was me trying to give them a second chance and partially because my family insisted on going. I'm told their sushi is amazing. Their atmosphere is very nice. I've only eaten the hibatchi which is a huge disappointment. He second time it tasted like there were chemicals in it. I couldn't touch it. The waitress was excellent and opened new bottles of yum yum sauce hoping it would mask the chemical taste. It didn't and I threw it all in the trash. read more
