    Rainbow Roll and Salmon Sashimi

Tokyo Lobby offers a good variety of items that stem from raw fish like Sashimi and also cater to people who do not like raw fish. They also have an AYCE option for sushi if you're into that. They have a lot of options. The sushi menu has a good variety of rolls, sashimi, and nigiri. They also have a combination menu for things like teriyaki beef or chicken and also a smaller sushi like a California roll or a spicy tuna roll. The combination comes with free soup and rice with the Teriyaki offering. The portion size is actually very generous for beef and chicken. It's also very tender. It's a very good value for what it is. The service here is pretty good. They come check on you often and refill your water. They make sure your dining experience is nice. The interior feels very bright and white. It's not a dimly lit romantic vibe, it's like a "I'm here to eat" kind of vibe. The parking can be a bit tough since there are a lot of businesses are in this plaza. Overall, good value for the price. The sashimi was good and the teriyaki is tender. The only downside is that they don't give enough rice for the meat.

Tokyo Lobby has a special place in my heart from when I was first came here in the late 1980's after relocating from the South. Although I live relatively close to this location, this was my first visit in years. My friends and I came for lunch before our Dodgers game outing. The restaurant seems newer, and brighter but smaller than I remembered. There was ample room for the Saturday lunch crowd and we were seated fairly quickly. The extensive menu offered many delicious options. We went with the lunch combo with sushi. I had the tempura and teriyaki chicken while my friend had the same but with teriyaki beef. We noticed that the teriyaki sauce seemed sweeter than most places. Our meal came with miso soup and a simple salad. The bento boxes looked appetizing and were delicious! Our service was at a good pace and our server very helpful!

Hubby was craving Japanese so we decided to give Tokyo Lobby a try again. We haven't found a good Japanese restaurant since the owners of the mom and pop restaurant we use to go to retired. The taste of the food isn't the same with the new owners. We use to dine at Tokyo Lobby frequently, but the quality of the food started going south so we stopped coming. Also the wait time was crazy. The interior of the restaurant has been upgraded. So much brighter and not quite as cramped. As I mentioned...it's been quite a few years. I was not terribly impressed with my salmon and tempura combo. The salmon was slightly overcooked and the tempura did not taste fresh. It didn't have that light crispness. Hubby enjoyed his beef teriyaki, sashimi and sushi combo. He said the sashimi was very fresh. Dinner combos are served with rice, soup and salad. Overall the meal was satisfying...but not the best.

I typically order food to go and my normal order is ribeye a la carte and C special. It's really hit or miss if they can get my ribeye correctly made. I always ask for medium rare but like today it's cooked well done with little teriyaki sauce. Even the C special had very little teriyaki sauce and the chicken was dry which makes it difficult to eat. It's a mom and pop store and I want to continue to support it but they really need to get my order correct or it'll close soon. It's a classic from the 70's or 80's. We used to go all the time when they were in San Gabriel. It's sad at 8pm there were a total of 5 patrons. So basically they are missing the boat in customer service and food quality. Please do better for your customers. This place has ample parking and has recently gotten an outdoor and indoor facelift.

    Dry chicken

Supposedly Manager we had order a new plate chicken was very dry ... We onlybwanted 1 piece chicken with tempura and wouldn't change it! As a paying customer we should be able to get what we want ... He was very rude and very unpolite... Don't recommend this place with managers that don't comply with what you want as a paying customer....

First time coming to this sushi spot and I can already say I'll definitely be back! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was welcoming and the customer service was top tier. Everyone was so attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. The food came out incredibly fast and everything tasted fresh and delicious. The teriyaki chicken was honestly one of my favorite things I tried so tender and flavorful, it literally melted in my mouth. And don't skip dessert because the scoop of ice cream at the end was absolutely amazing and the perfect sweet touch to finish the night. What really impressed me was how everything was just on point: the service, the food, the atmosphere, and even the prices. It's rare to find a place that gives such a great experience while still being affordable. I left happy, full, and already looking forward to my next visit!

Jason was our superior server. He was very attentive, needs to study the menu ... we chatted about the big photo albums menus they used to have. Ordered c special chicken abd tempura. Also sashimi (all salmon) mackerel and tempura. Large hot sake. Everything was good my chicken was thinner than expected. I asked for sauce on the side. Miso soup and white rice both excellent. No room for dessert Sat be window no outside seating.

The chicken and beef teriyaki combination plate was served hot, tender, and coated in a rich, delicious teriyaki sauce that paired perfectly with the steaming bowl of rice. The fresh side salad was a great, crisp addition to balance out the savory flavors. Great food, clean setup, and quick service.

I came here again with family, and the food tasted good as usual. There was parking nearby, and we got seated immediately. The facades at the Hacienda Center got renovated, and Tokyo Lobby modernized its own interior space. As such, the booths and flooring don't have darkened wood anymore. No longer having a retro feel reminiscent of the time during its establishment in 1979, the restaurant now has lighter wood flooring and new tables. I got a lunch combination with eight California roll pieces and chicken teriyaki ($17.95). We also shared a salmon skin roll ($7.95), which consisted of four big pieces. Initially, I got mixed tempura instead of chicken teriyaki, but they made the switch in a few minutes. The bento included salad, rice, and miso soup. You get plenty of rice, and the California rolls were big. The sliced skin-on chicken thighs tasted juicy and not too sweet from the teriyaki sauce. The salmon skin in the rolls had a strong flavor with sliced cucumber. It was intimidating to eat in one bite.

Have been eating here for ages and it always hits the spot if I'm looking for Americanized Japanese food. Service is always friendly and the food comes out quickly. I usually order the special bento, which comes with a little of everything so I don't have make a decision! The only con? My sis was disappointed the place is now lighter instead of the dark wood paneled seating area.

Came in and were seated right away. I ordered the #5 and it came out pretty quick and everything was fresh and hot. It's nice and air conditioned in this summer heat. Overall a classic and would always return.

We haven't been to Tokyo Lobby in years, but we've missed it a lot. We used to frequent their other location in San Gabriel many years ago. This location is tucked inside the plaza next to the Meet Fresh and 99 Ranch Market on Colima and Azusa in Hacienda Heights. We visited a few days ago to celebrate our older daughter's birthday and were pleasantly surprised to see that the interior has been renovated. It is now much brighter and more comfortable than it was years ago. Their menu features several dinner sushi specials and a wide variety of "Boat" options, including the Tokyo Boat, Golden Lobster Boat, Sapporo Boat, Poseidon Boat, Lucky Boat, and Sashimi Boat. We ultimately decided on the Happy Boat for four people ($143.80). We requested no rice, and it came loaded with fresh Sashimi, sushi, a Crunch California Roll, a Rainbow Roll, and a Salmon Roll. The meal also included soup and salad for everyone (note: there is a two-order minimum for the boats). While it took a little while for the chefs to prepare such a gigantic spread, it was well worth the wait. The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. When we mentioned it was our daughter's birthday, our server kindly brought out a complimentary tempura matcha dessert with a candle. We also received complimentary ice cream that comes standard with the boat. It was a wonderful experience, and we're so glad we came back.

Couldn't chew the tuna :( yuck.

How can I make a dinner reservation for 3 people on a Saturday night?

    Just call the restaurant.

Can I make a reservation for 12 ppl in lunch time?

Yes I think you can as they have a lot of room!

Do you still have ayce? What is the price? Geo?

    Nope no AYCE

Are they still all you can eat? Me and my husband use to go there before the pandemic happened and they were AYC eat.

Don’t believe they were ever all you can eat!

    Do you need reservations?

    Yes

Is this the same as the old one in san Gabriel?

They used to be, now I really doubt it. The food definitely isn't the same.

The pork was a little bit more on the tougher side when compared to the chicken. But no matter which protein you go with, they were all delicious. A curry plate also comes with soup and salad. I understand their policy is no outside drinks but it's not like the entire table had teas from another shop, it was one person with a small energy drink can. Really nitpicky and stupid to enforce but whatever. We ordered our meals and everything came out great, the food was really tasty and fresh. Zero complaints about anything we ate at all! The katsu were all fried perfectly, very juice and quality meat. The curry was just a touch spicy and very flavorful. I especially loved the fried tofu, the dashi was some of the best I've had. At the end of the meal we said we had a cake and were told if we wanted to eat it there (with our own plates, napkins and utensils that we brought) it would be a $20 charge. I've never been to a place, especially an Asian restaurant, that has such a crappy policy. We reluctantly paid it but won't be coming back. We celebrate every birthday in the family at restaurants and this is the first time we've ever had pushback over cake.
