Nice and bright inside. Employees are nice. Welcoming. Clean inside. Food is good and tasty. Lots of parking.

Jason was our superior server. He was very attentive, needs to study the menu ... we chatted about the big photo albums menus they used to have. Ordered c special chicken abd tempura. Also sashimi (all salmon) mackerel and tempura. Large hot sake. Everything was good my chicken was thinner than expected. I asked for sauce on the side. Miso soup and white rice both excellent. No room for dessert Sat be window no outside seating.

I came here again with family, and the food tasted good as usual. There was parking nearby, and we got seated immediately. The facades at the Hacienda Center got renovated, and Tokyo Lobby modernized its own interior space. As such, the booths and flooring don't have darkened wood anymore. No longer having a retro feel reminiscent of the time during its establishment in 1979, the restaurant now has lighter wood flooring and new tables. I got a lunch combination with eight California roll pieces and chicken teriyaki ($17.95). We also shared a salmon skin roll ($7.95), which consisted of four big pieces. Initially, I got mixed tempura instead of chicken teriyaki, but they made the switch in a few minutes. The bento included salad, rice, and miso soup. You get plenty of rice, and the California rolls were big. The sliced skin-on chicken thighs tasted juicy and not too sweet from the teriyaki sauce. The salmon skin in the rolls had a strong flavor with sliced cucumber. It was intimidating to eat in one bite.

We haven't been to Tokyo Lobby in years, but we've missed it a lot. We used to frequent their other location in San Gabriel many years ago. This location is tucked inside the plaza next to the Meet Fresh and 99 Ranch Market on Colima and Azusa in Hacienda Heights. We visited a few days ago to celebrate our older daughter's birthday and were pleasantly surprised to see that the interior has been renovated. It is now much brighter and more comfortable than it was years ago. Their menu features several dinner sushi specials and a wide variety of "Boat" options, including the Tokyo Boat, Golden Lobster Boat, Sapporo Boat, Poseidon Boat, Lucky Boat, and Sashimi Boat. We ultimately decided on the Happy Boat for four people ($143.80). We requested no rice, and it came loaded with fresh Sashimi, sushi, a Crunch California Roll, a Rainbow Roll, and a Salmon Roll. The meal also included soup and salad for everyone (note: there is a two-order minimum for the boats). While it took a little while for the chefs to prepare such a gigantic spread, it was well worth the wait. The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. When we mentioned it was our daughter's birthday, our server kindly brought out a complimentary tempura matcha dessert with a candle. We also received complimentary ice cream that comes standard with the boat. It was a wonderful experience, and we're so glad we came back.

Have been eating here for ages and it always hits the spot if I'm looking for Americanized Japanese food. Service is always friendly and the food comes out quickly. I usually order the special bento, which comes with a little of everything so I don't have make a decision! The only con? My sis was disappointed the place is now lighter instead of the dark wood paneled seating area.

I've never been here during the week and am happy there is such a great selection to choose from. There also many promotions for free ice cream or soft drinks. New desserts include Macarons and dessert specials. It's not quite the same as the former location in San Gabriel, but fairly close in quality.

Ah such fond memories eating here. Been coming since I was a kid. Food is good as always. Nice staff. Really enjoy the remodel, it used to be so dark in the past. Now it's open and bright. Really love the eel here. The boats are fun to get with a bigger group.

Couldn't chew the tuna :( yuck.

Eeek. Quality has been going down. We ordered some nigiri the last time we were here and my daughter couldn't even chew the tuna piece as it was so hard. Bento boxes are still ok, but I am weary about the fish options.

We came here as a party of 4 on a Sunday for lunch and got seated right away. We ordered bentos off the lunch menu it came with rice, seaweed soup, and salad. We got the Cali roll combo with tempura and salmon, sashimi comb with teriyaki chicken and beef. It was very delicious and good portion. My two complaints is the parking lot is in a big plaza with lots of parking but it's busy! So prepare for that. Service was good but slow.

Good lunch deal. Best New York steak, sashimi, and tempura bento box. Service was quick and attentive, and the menu had so many different combinations to choose from. Quiet atmosphere with music playing softly in the background, so very relaxing.

Came in on a hot summer day. Place was very clean and air conditioned. I ordered the lunch special with chicken+tempura. It was very delicious and comes with a miso soup, salad, and steamed rice. Service was good and the food came out really fast. I will be coming back to try some rolls.

Teriyaki Chicken, Teriyaki Beef, and Tempura

I've been looking for quality teriyaki chicken/beef in this area, and this place really fulfilled my craving. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and beef with tempura, and it was all really good quality. I do think that the teriyaki sauce is a little sweet, so having all of the meat in the sauce does get a little overwhelming. The staff let me know I could order the sauce on the side next time, so that is also an option. The staff here are friendly and my food came very quickly.

Love Tokyo Lobby, haven't had it since I was a teen and it's still just as good as I remember! Has definitely had some remodeling done. Space is more modern now and the staff here are so kind. Sashimi was delicious and fresh, tempura not oily, and teriyaki has always had a perfect balance of sweet (not too sweet) and savory! As soon as I took that nostalgic bite of the teriyaki beef it brought me right back to coming as kid! 1 of 2

How can I make a dinner reservation for 3 people on a Saturday night?

    Just call the restaurant.

Can I make a reservation for 12 ppl in lunch time?

Yes I think you can as they have a lot of room!

Do you still have ayce? What is the price? Geo?

    Nope no AYCE

Are they still all you can eat? Me and my husband use to go there before the pandemic happened and they were AYC eat.

Don’t believe they were ever all you can eat!

    Do you need reservations?

    Yes

Is this the same as the old one in san Gabriel?

They used to be, now I really doubt it. The food definitely isn't the same.

Kamon Sushi - Rowland Heights…read more Kamon Sushi is one of the few Japanese restaurants that has managed to stand the test of time in the Rowland Heights area. I've watched the restaurant go through management changes over the years, but they've done a solid job maintaining a consistent mid-level quality while continuing to attract local customers. One of the biggest draws is still their business lunch pricing. The menu is extensive, covering sushi, bento boxes, kitchen dishes, and more recently, yakitori. My personal preference is their bento boxes. The two-item and three-item combinations, typically ranging from the mid-teens to low twenties, remain a dependable choice. Inflation has made them less of a bargain than they once were, but compared to similar Japanese restaurants in the area, they are still reasonably priced. Over time, Kamon has evolved into a more modern Japanese restaurant with a broad menu. The upside is variety. The downside is that I don't think they've found one category that truly stands above the rest yet. The yakitori is alright. The tempura is alright. The sushi is decent. The bento boxes are probably the strongest part of the menu. What consistently stands out is the service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which keeps me coming back. Kamon may not be the place for the best sushi, the best yakitori, or the best tempura in town. But if you're looking for a reliable neighborhood Japanese restaurant with a wide selection, fair pricing, and great service, it continues to be a solid choice.

The sushi tastes fresh, and one thing I appreciate is the rolls are always made well, nothing falling apart halfway through eating, which honestly says a lot about consistency. My kids were big fans of the tonkatsu ramen and finished it without complaints (which parents know is its own review category). The happy hour prices are also worth mentioning because you can order a decent amount without feeling guilty afterward. The biggest standout for us was our server, Bang. Friendly, attentive, and especially patient with my kids' food preferences. He was accommodating when we asked to modify dishes and gave recommendations. Service like that makes a restaurant memorable. This has become an easy choice when we want sushi in the area, especially for family dinners.

We placed the phone order for (1) roll and (2) macron ice cream things. (Which are already made and sitting in a freezer) We were told 25 minutes and so we waited about 20 minutes before I walked in to pick up my (1) roll, the only thing that required someone to make it. The front reception area was chaos with large parties waiting to be seated and scattered smaller groups of 3 or 4. I bypassed all that to get to the front and instead of a person is a tablet. All the human workers were scrambling around which told me they were "behind". I asked a worker about my phone order and she told me five minutes and took my payment. 35 minutes later I'm still waiting among the crowd who are also waiting to be seated. Workers are scrambling around like they just got trained that day. Confused looks and panic ruled the evening. Workers continued to jog past me to handing out drinks and trays of items and never checking back in with the small crowd. Confusion over clarity remained the theme as large parties asked why they haven't been seated yet. Small parties asked when they would be seated and I waited for (1) roll. A purely bad experience from start to finish from a place I've enjoyed in the past. The moral of the story is to expect the unexpected. Even though I've had pleasant experiences in the past here, I have to report the details of this visit based on its own merits and not prior visits. I ended up with my roll and it seemed like it was sitting back there somewhere ignored, like the groups waiting to be seated. It seemed not so fresh and like it was made 25 minutes earlier.

Started off with the spicy edamame which I could literally drink the sauce they make them in. We also had the crab hand rolls. Those were so warm and tasty! Followed by the yummy rolls. Queen roll with the strawberry on top was my fav! Azabu crunchy roll had a perfect crunch and gives you a mouthful of deliciousness (2nd fav) Then the rock n roll rocked our world! We then shared the Seafood Ceviche, which featured fresh fish, mango salsa, avocado, micro cilantro, leche de tigre, and macha sauce. It was definitely on the spicy side, so if you're sensitive to heat, I would recommend asking for the macha sauce to be removed or served on the side. The flavors were fresh, vibrant, and well balanced, with the avocado adding a nice creamy contrast to the spice. The presentation of the ceviche was especially well done and made the dish even more enjoyable. I paired my meal with a glass of Strev Moscato, while my husband enjoyed a 22 oz bottle of Asahi. The atmosphere was welcoming and made for a nice anniversary dinner. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful, and the overall vibe was perfect for a date night. After our visit, we noticed what appeared to be a billing error on our check. We called the restaurant, and the manager was very helpful and quickly resolved the issue by issuing a refund. Mistakes can happen anywhere, but I truly appreciated how professionally and promptly they handled the situation. Overall, we enjoyed our meal, appreciated the excellent customer service, and would happily return.

It turned what could have been a simple dinner into a memorable experience from the moment I sat down. I ordered the sashimi plate, and it was absolutely outstanding--fresh, beautifully prepared, and surprisingly well-priced for the quality. What impressed me most was the honesty of the staff. I was considering ordering a larger portion, but they actually talked me out of it because they knew I wouldn't finish it. They were right. That small gesture showed me they cared more about giving me a great experience than squeezing a few extra dollars out of my wallet. That kind of customer service is rare these days. What makes this experience even more memorable is that I had just come from X Fish Izakaya, where I spent nearly an hour waiting to be seated while watching people who arrived after me get seated first. I left feeling frustrated and completely overlooked. Walking into Chubby Sushi was the exact opposite experience. Here, I felt welcomed, appreciated, and genuinely taken care of from the moment I walked through the door. As if the food and service weren't enough, on my way out I met a well-known food reviewer and even got the chance to hold a giant tuna head that Chubby Sushi had on display for a photo. It was one of those unexpected moments that made an already great night unforgettable. Sometimes a bad experience leads you exactly where you're supposed to be. I'm genuinely glad X Fish Izakaya dropped the ball because it led me to discover Chubby Sushi.
