Great customer service, staff's always checking in with us to see how we're doing, very bubbly, SUPER CLEAN interior, and I know that you can really get California Rolls anywhere, and I don't usually JUST crave for California Rolls, but this is one place I'm always excited to get California rolls! Everyone was so attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. The food came out incredibly fast and everything tasted fresh and delicious. The teriyaki chicken was honestly one of my favorite things I tried so tender and flavorful, it literally melted in my mouth. And don't skip dessert because the scoop of ice cream at the end was absolutely amazing and the perfect sweet touch to finish the night. Food: We got 2 lunch boxes. I got chicken and it comes with dark meat skin on. It was honestly not my favorite type of chicken but it was my preference. And I could've subbed out for white meat. The beef was very good. The tempura vegetables were my favorite thing ever and some of the best I've ever had! Service: The service was pretty good. I like how they kind of just left you alone a little and it wasn't too much. They just gave us miso soup with no spoon and the didn't come back for a good 10 minutes. Other than that it was great! I came here again with family, and the food tasted good as usual. There was parking nearby, and we got seated immediately. The facades at the Hacienda Center got renovated, and Tokyo Lobby modernized its own interior space. As such, the booths and flooring don't have darkened wood anymore. No longer having a retro feel reminiscent of the time during its establishment in 1979, the restaurant now has lighter wood flooring and new tables. I got a lunch combination with eight California roll pieces and chicken teriyaki ($17.95). We also shared a salmon skin roll ($7.95), which consisted of four big pieces. Initially, I got mixed tempura instead of chicken teriyaki, but they made the switch in a few minutes. The bento included salad, rice, and miso soup. You get plenty of rice, and the California rolls were big. The sliced skin-on chicken thighs tasted juicy and not too sweet from the teriyaki sauce. The salmon skin in the rolls had a strong flavor with sliced cucumber. It was intimidating to eat in one bite. read more

We haven't been to Tokyo Lobby in years, but we've missed it a lot. We used to frequent their other location in San Gabriel many years ago. This location is tucked inside the plaza next to the Meet Fresh and 99 Ranch Market on Colima and Azusa in Hacienda Heights. We visited a few days ago to celebrate our older daughter's birthday and were pleasantly surprised to see that the interior has been renovated. It is now much brighter and more comfortable than it was years ago. Their menu features several dinner sushi specials and a wide variety of "Boat" options, including the Tokyo Boat, Golden Lobster Boat, Sapporo Boat, Poseidon Boat, Lucky Boat, and Sashimi Boat. We ultimately decided on the Happy Boat for four people ($143.80). We requested no rice, and it came loaded with fresh Sashimi, sushi, a Crunch California Roll, a Rainbow Roll, and a Salmon Roll. The meal also included soup and salad for everyone (note: there is a two-order minimum for the boats). While it took a little while for the chefs to prepare such a gigantic spread, it was well worth the wait. The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. When we mentioned it was our daughter's birthday, our server kindly brought out a complimentary tempura matcha dessert with a candle. I usually order the special bento, which comes with a little of everything so I don't have make a decision! The only con? I've been looking for quality teriyaki chicken/beef in this area, and this place really fulfilled my craving. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and beef with tempura, and it was all really good quality. I do think that the teriyaki sauce is a little sweet, so having all of the meat in the sauce does get a little overwhelming. This is our second time coming here. The restaurant seems to have had some renovations. It now has that open and inviting feeling. I am temporarily diabetic so I ordered the bento box with fried chicken and teriyaki steak, no tice but with extra salad. It is a very filling portion. We ordered the Sapporo Boat to go, and it was ready in about 15 minutes, which was pretty quick. The servers were friendly and helpful during pickup. The portions are large, for my group of 4 we ordered a boat for 3 people and had plenty of leftovers for the next few days. We came to Tokyo Lobby for Mother's Day and ordered a sushi boat, but unfortunately, the experience was a major disappointment compared to a past visit. The sashimi was bad; the tuna was abnormally red and looked like it had artificial color added to it. To make matters worse, we found a hair on one of our sushi rolls. Although the staff was polite enough to take it back and replace it with a new one, the damage was done. I would not go back here again. The service was also lacking throughout the meal. At first, they seated our table but completely forgot to bring us menus, and then they forgot about the high chair we requested. I understand it was Mother's Day and the workers were clearly overworked, so I can sympathize with the holiday rush. Went for the lunch AYCE. Inside was calm and clean. It was $29.99 and there's a separate deluxe menu for $10 more but I didn't feel like there were enough extra/different items. The regular menu was fine. The spicy garlic edamame was my favorite thing there. It was so flavorful, I want to drink that sauce lol the hand rolls were stuffed and the sushi had a nice fish to rice ratio. Service was courteous and I didn't feel pressured with someone checking in on me too often. I was able to eat and have a conversation with my friend without being interrupted. Located off S. Azusa Ave in Hacienda Heights. Parking is shared with all the other businesses in the plaza. This is one of last one's left after the ones in San Gabriel and Tustin closed. The place is not too big but can accommodate big parties like ours. Came here for a dinner/mini reunion with my college Fraternity bros of Zeta Epsilon Tau of Long Beach State. We had 13 out of 15 that were able to attend. The service and staff were nice and helpful and checked up on us. We order the boats which they are known for which had chicken, beef , gyoza and shrimp/veggies tempura along with two types of sushi rolls. Drinks like sodas, ice teas and even green ice tea were all refillable. They also had specials on bottled beers. Overall had a great experience here and still will always have good memories of Tokyo Lobby eating. read more

I had to call to double check and make sure the AYCE was still going on and it was $29.99 for lunch. I can't believe the price and the checklist of sushi is endless! They even have AYCE desserts which was the best part for me. Big restaurant with plenty of seating. Clean restaurant and great staff and service. I really liked how the checklist showed # of pieces each roll came with, this made it a lot easier for me to order and narrow down the fillers. My family and I used to eat here all the time when we lived in La Puente, and coming back feels like stepping into so many great memories. Now with my own family, I wanted my husband and children to experience this place. The food is just as delicious as I remember, fresh, flavorful and satisfying. We ordered the lucky boat which had NY steak, teriyaki chicken, tempura, egg rolls and mini shumais. The boat came with rice, miso, 2 sushi rolls and ice cream. We got the shrimp tempura roll and paid $2 extra dollars which was worth it. My kids absolutely loved the food. The NY steak was perfect cooked, we asked for medium rare and they delivered just how we asked. The chicken and steak was tender and delicious! Tempura was also delicious as well as the egg rolls and shumais. We also ordered the spider roll and everything was tasty and satisfying! The service is also fantastic. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The place is clean and can accommodate large groups. So grateful this spot is still around and still just as good.
