Stopped by to grab some lunch after an appt close by. This place was suggested by yelp and I thought why not try it. The restaraunt is a decent size and has a variety of dishes. I ordered some Chicken Spring Rolls, Teriyaki Chicken and the Tulare Roll. They were all good. I got to admit I enjoyed the spring roll and Tulare Roll more. The sauce on it was really good not over powering but just right. This place was clean, customer service was great and food was prepared in about 15 mins. Prices are great too. This is perfect for a group, just urself or w someone else, kids. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

We just moved to Tulare and were delighted to discover this low cost Japanese and Thai restaurant. Good food and even table service - the counter is for to go orders. Ambience is average order-at-the counter restaurant, but you can get a great meal for about $10-15 dollars, and a small selection of beer and wine are available. We'll be back. read more

I used to come here back in the day. I used to think this place was really good and I would bring friends along. However, yesterday I came in after a couple of years and it was okay. This was a nice place to stop on our way through town. It's in a strip mall behind the outlet mall. You can order food to go at the counter. We ate there, so the server took our order at the table. The ambiance and service were pleasant. The two of us shared the Deluxe Bento box and a sushi roll. The Deluxe box included a California roll, a salad, and gyozo. The rolls were excellent. The ginger was tasty. There was a lot of sauce on the chicken teriyaki, which I liked. The sauce was more runny than I'm used too, but still OK. The teriyaki was good - better than at some other places. There were a variety of bento box combinations you could choose from, so you could get the tempura or other choices with your order. They apparently have Thai food and Pho as well. I would definitely stop here again when passing through Tulare. read more

Thai and sushi under one roof!!! YES. And they do both well. Smaller restaurant and gets full quickly on a Friday. The rolls are creative and the Thai fried rice was full of flavor and non of the grease. The service was efficient. She managed the place well considering she's the only person managing the front. Well while coming back from a wonderful day at sequoia national park, we wanted to stop off in Tulare for dinner at a Asian restaurant. Looking at yelp and entertainment coupons, I found this place which had nice ratings. We were sadly very disappointed. I'm a big guy and I never leave food uneaten, but as you can see from the picture I couldn't finish my meal. I was starving from the whole day this I was able to gulp what I could. The beef was chewy an the chicken was slimy. I'm really not sure what meat grade quality this place had, but you get for what you pay for. It was cheapest, but differently not worth it. The service was rude and VERY VERY slow. There seemed a lot of patrons so maybe it was an off day, but I won't be visiting again. On top of everything, we went due to a coupon that was available online via their website. They claimed to not acknowledge it saying the company changed a couple of years ago. When asked why they still have it advertizing, she said they don't know the password. Rubbish! Call the company and get it changed. Don't be a business that is living on another previous name. Now looking back at the yelp reviews I can see that the reviews where of the old place not this new place. Deceiving. read more

This place was my favorite place to pick up sushi I support small business but I went today and the sushi was nasty it tasted old and the sushi wasn't fresh. I spent $34.00 dollars on "Hawaiian Roll,Ninja Turtle Roll and the California Roll" worst $34.00 dollars spent. I'm not coming back or recommending it. First time trying Tokyo Place. We showed up early around 6pm and were the only ones at the restaurant initially but a few minutes later others started to come in. We ordered the gyoza as an appetizer and it was very good! Fresh, flavorful and crispy. It also came out quickly, within 5 minutes. We ordered the Tulare roll and the chicken yakisoba. The Tulare roll did taste very fresh and had a nice portions of the ingredients. Yakisoba was ok; would have been better if it was hotter. The chicken was so hard that it was scraping the inside of my mouth as I chewed it. My husband also agreed and wouldn't eat his chicken bowl. The miso soup was luke warm and hard a bunch of mushrooms in it, so it didn't taste like miso, it tasted like mushroom soup. The California roll was awful. The crab was so dry. I normally wouldn't write a bad review but I have gone the last two times and they don't acknowledge you and they look at you as if they don't want you there. They need to train that new waitress. I used to come here all the time when it used to be Haru's Japanese Restaurant. Stopped by for a quick meal while I was in town. Most of the decor has stayed the same but with all new owners and food. The hostess/waitress, Laura, was friendly and helpful. I ordered a Tokyo Bowl (£6.27 w/ tax) and a water. It came with a generous portion of beef & chicken, not much vegetables, a little heavy on the teriyaki sauce but all in all was pretty good. It was a good walk down memory lane. Minus one star because we had to ask for refills and when I asked for two go boxes they werent brought after awhile so I got up to get them. So now the food.. My kids are huge fans of japanese/sushi so we pretty much have tried every sushi place in visalia/Tulare. We recently tried this one for the first time. We were seated right away and were brought menus immediately, which is always appreciated! I got a shrimp tempura roll which was cut WAY too thick - finally had to resort to using a fork and cutting them in half so I didn't stuff my mouth too full. The roll was 'ok'. My son go the yakisoba chicken and he wasn't blown away by the taste. We also had a chicken bento and the chicken tasted soooo odd. Tempura veggies were good though, so my daughter didn't leave hungry, at least. Service got a little slow as more people came in but that is understandable. If the prices were a bit more reasonable, we would come back and give it another try but at this point, not going to make effort. read more

It's an alright place, I ordered the eel crunchy roll and it wasn't even crunchy, and there wasn't much eel in the rolls. I also ordered the monster roll which was $12 I don't think it's a monster size plus it was smothered in some spicy pink sauce. I don't think I'll be ordering the monster roll anymore, but their veggie tempura is pretty good I really enjoyed it. I didn't dine in, I did a pick up order.
