So I'm wandering Pearl Street in Denver, CO on a beautiful morning looking to start the day off right, something sweet, a cup of coffee, and a healthy dump. I see Tokyo Premium Bakery just as the first rumble of my morning business declares itself. Place was busy, lots of pastries, decent seating, and a well used coffee apparatus behind the counter. I put an order in with the gentlemen, 6 foot Japanese feller. He wants to ask me about my day and where I'm from, but at this point I've got a groundhog twice the size of a Punxsutawney Phil trying to predict 6 more seconds of clean underwear. Coffee order in, throw me one of those hot dogs in a bun, pay the tab and bolt for the facilities. I walk in and shining like God's own throne is a crystal clean, authentic Japanese ass lickin' toilet. Forget the wheel or electricity--humanity peaked with Toto's butt-blasting miracle. It gets your stink hole cleaner than a preacher's collar, and I taint lying. I drop trou, plunk down on an 80-degree seat that tingles my spine, and let loose. Usually, I'm quicker than a jackrabbit on a date, but then I hit "rear." Boom--a warm, wet explosion hits my doo-doo door like Gene Simmons tonguing his prom date. I'm in heaven, glued to the seat, but I can't stay forever--folks might think I croaked. I cut the bliss, double-flush, and spot some Febreze nearby. A few spritzes, and it smells like a flower garden, not a fart fest in here. Time to enjoy that coffee and chow--the second-best thing here after that taterhole baptism read more

Solid spot but not exactly sure why it has as much hype as it does. I enjoyed my potato croquette and my chocolate banana pastry. But I've definitely had other great pastries around the metro. Loved everything about the bakery off of Pearl Street! The prices of pastries were super affordable (I bought 5 pastries for about $20). Everything was delicious, with our favorite being the croissant with a peach half and cream in the middle. I also noticed they have a beverage menu including teas and coffee. Among all the quality pastries and buns, I can't get enough of this beef curry bun. It is absolutely a must try. The bun is unlike any other bread I've ever eaten: when it's fresh out of the oven, it has a crispy, fried texture that's not too oily or heavy. The taste of the bread is there and doesn't overpower the curry at all; rather, it becomes the perfect vehicle to deliver quality beef curry (piping hot and perfectly cooked!) straight to your mouth. We planned on sharing one or two, and by the time we left we'd ordered six. Cannot recommend this enough! As for the other pastries, they were also super impressive! A decent amount of offerings had sold out by noonish on a weekday, which is understandable. Honorable mentions to the matcha crème (light, sweet, and not too bitter), the red bean donut (incredibly sweet and delectable red bean filling), and the fruit tarts (pick your favorite fruits, they're all good). I thought the sunrise and custard donut were just fine, as the former was sweet and not too dry while the latter is exactly what you'd expect (and yet I was still surprised by how much custard - not my type, but custard lovers rejoice). You guys, this bakery is a must if you're in Denver! Locals will tell you it's one of the best Japanese bakeries around and that everything tastes so authentic. A few of the things I wanted to try were already sold out by the time I got there, so I ended up ordering the Fruit Sandwich, Matcha Latte, Beef Curry bun, and the Matcha Cornet. Everything tasted fantastic! I would say that the Fruit Sandwich and the Beef Curry were my favorites - the texture and flavors were just incredible. After just one visit, it's easy to understand why Tokyo Premium Bakery is on Yelp's Top 10 Denver Restaurants list. I visited Japan earlier this year and have been searching for the soft breads and flavors I loved so much while there, and I found it at TPB! We tried a beef curry bun, matcha bun, red bean donut, and fruit sando. The beef curry bun is one of the best things I've ever tasted! With a crisp exterior, warm soft interior, and deliciously spiced curry filling, I'll be back to TPB just for this bun. The fruit sando was better than the ones I had in Japan-- soft white bread with fluffy cream and lots of fruit makes for the perfect texture. The matcha latte was excellent with the perfect matcha flavor level. They offer alternative milks for all coffees. The service was friendly and super fast, with our coffees and matchas being prepared in just 2-3 minutes. I have a new addiction with TPB! You will not be disappointed. Best Japanese Bakery in Colorado! I'm from Japan and I take my kids to Tokyo every summer and they get spoiled with their delicious baked goods and bread. Absolutely love this little bakery. Their items are perfectly sweet and savory, and you've gotta stop by here if you're a fan of Japanese drinks and pastries. This is a small shop and doesn't have a lot of seating, but it still makes for a pretty good place to work with wifi, an abundance of outlets, and seats facing the open windows. On this last visit, I got 1/3 of a loaf of Shokupan (Japanese milk bread), a Tropical Fruit Croissant, a Beef Curry Bun, and a Matcha Cream Bun. My favorite had to be the Shokupan, which was very lightly sweet and buttery. It's delicate enough to toast in the morning and eat with tea, but it's hearty enough to make sandwiches out of. I was a little disappointed with the Beef Curry Bun--I was hoping it would have a bit more substance to it. Japanese curry usually has chunks of beef, potatoes, and carrots, but this curry was fairly thin. That said, the bun was still crunchy on the outside and well-fried so it wasn't greasy at all, and I would still recommend it for those who want to give it a try. I submitted an online order two days before I wanted to pick it up (they ask for shokupan to be ordered at least 24 hours in advance and other items to be ordered at least 5 hours ahead), and they packed the items fresh when I arrived so they were still warm when I got them. You can come in-person without submitting an order as well, but some items may not be available--they were out of fruit sandwiches by the time I left the store around 9:30 on a weekday. read more

This adorable little bakery reminded me so much of the ones I loved in Japan! Their iced matcha latte was excellent, their pastries were fresh out of the oven and had a wonderful fluffy texture, and staff was friendly and helpful. I love that they let you order ahead so that you can guarantee you'll be able to get a certain item - it's always so sad to come to a bakery and find they've sold out of what you wanted! Their matcha bun and their curry bun were my favorite (the matcha here is genuinely great quality!), but I didn't have a single pastry I didn't like. My family and I enjoyed sampling a bunch of different options and relaxing at the tables. It's a small space, so if you come at a busy time you probably won't be able to dine in. Also, they have Japanese toilets with all the fancy settings, so as weird as it sounds to recommend a bathroom.... All in all, this place was a gem! Came here during Sunday for the Pearl Street Farmer's Market so it was really busy. It's not a stall or anything but an actual store in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the farmer's market. I really loved the beef curry which I believe is one of their best sellers there. I give a thumbs up for the matcha cream bun and red bean bun. Honestly, so many good options to choose from. I also enjoyed the matcha latte. Service was pretty quick even though you may find a line at 1:00-2:00pm ish. It can get crowded inside but plenty of seating. So happy this exists in Denver, and a great stop on Pearl Street. The pastries are super delicious. If you've never had red bean, here is your chance to try it. Though my favorite is the custard donut, and I can tell they're popular since there's always maybe 3-5 left when I come around. It's Japanese custard which is on another level than American style donut custard. The have both sweet and savory options, as well as Japanese shokupan loaves for you to take home. The ambiance here is nice. Really great place for a short stop, treat, and chat. There's definitely limited seating so not always the best place to sit for hours, but I come with my laptop for an hour or so occasionally--there is free wifi. Line is out the door and down the sidewalk on Pearl Street Farmers Market days so beware, but to me it's worth a wait and they're fairly quick since everything but the drinks are already made and ready. Hands down this is my favorite Japanese bakery. There is no place comparable to Tokyo Premium Bakery. All items are baked fresh daily and depending on the time they might be sold out for the day. Prior to arriving, I really wanted to try the melon pan, but when I arrived it was not on the menu. I tried the bacon epi, beef curry, matcha cream, and ham and egg sando. All of them were delicious and fresh. My favorite would definitely be the bacon epi, it was a nice balance of savory. I also ordered the hojicha and matcha latte. Hojicha is the star drink compared to matcha. The matcha flavorless and mild. If you like matcha I highly recommend trying hojicha with oat milk. read more

Not sure why this place has such rave reviews. Their baked goods are ok but as my son remarked, they don't offer to heat up your pastries. They taste day old and for the inconvenience of heading there it's not worth the trip. We can get better at Tous and have ample parking and shorter drive. Associate who got pastries was ok, not particularly friendly. Cashier was better. The place is cute. The line out the door. I like that they tell you what's sold out. I noticed a lot of the items on the menu were crossed out as they were sold out (I went around 1 p.m. on a Saturday) - if you want something specific, definitely order in advance. My husband and I each ordered 2 pastries, iced hojicha latte, and an iced matcha and spent a little over $25. The latte was really good, had a thicker consistency, and paired well with the pastries. I really wanted to try their sandwiches, but they were sold out for the day. They're located on a street with plenty of other shops and restaurants, so grab a bite to eat and take a stroll! My sister in law who lives in Colorado brought us here to try this japanese bakery. We arrived around 10am and unfortunately half of their pastries were sold out but they still had a few Japanese classics left such as melon-pan, custards buns, fruit tarts and curry-pan. I got the beef curry bun and the earl grey croissant and they were very good! What a gem! Love everything here - the pastries are sweet, buttery, and flaky while the savory breads have the perfect soft and springy texture to them (even the plain baguette is fantastic!). You can tell the bakery truly takes time into making delicious, quality breads here. My top faves: tuna bread and beef curry pastry. If you like spicy, the spicy cod roe is also great (must order in advance or order in-person with approx. ~15 min wait). For sweets, I'd get the matcha custard and earl grey croissant again.
