The sushi rolls were different and tasty. There was no issue, but our waiter walked over with 2 small bowls of soy sauce instead of giving us the whole bottle. He had to come over twice carrying little bowls of soy sauce hoping they wouldn't spill because it wasn't enough. I just thought that was odd. read more

Thought we made reservations for 7 but no one wrote it in the book. They had to have tables rearranged but it only took a few minutes. I have a mushroom allergy and told waitress before I ordered. Me and a friend split the feliet Mignon and shrimp. They brought our dish out and the waitress said there might be mushrooms to be careful. NO there is not being careful when you have an allergy. She took the dish from me and said the cook would cook me the meal minus the mushrooms. Well now I can't eat with the other six people so I ordered another glass of wine. Took her 15 minutes to bring it. Another bad eating experience in Sussex county. As a local you just can't go to any restaurant and get good service. The prices are high and you feel like you're being shuffled in and out. Perhaps in October the fine dining experience will be better but for now I'm done with these high price restaurants. read more

Please help me understand why your employees have become the most miserable people to be around. This place used to be inviting and somewhere along the lines. It turned into crap. The food is decent if you can ever get it right, but normally they make it wrong. Then, when you ask them to fix it, they get an attitude with you roll their eyes and walk away. Went here tonight for my mom's bday. The portions of food were good, the drinks at the bar were great and the food taste was very delicious. The portions were big so I split with my dad and they did charge a $7 splitting fee but it was worth it because we got our own salad, soup and large portion even with us splitting. However, we went in at around 5:15 and told our table would take only 30 minutes and it ended up taking almost 2 hours by the time we got seated and with food. We tried to call and make a reservation before hand and they said the soonest they had was 8:30 but that walk ins were welcomed, just wished the wait time was more reliable because we could have gone somewhere else or ordered a started at the bar. We also had to ask for salt and pepper a few times before we received it. Overall good food but definitely make a reservation beforehand. read more

I tried to eat but called her back. I told her it was cold, shouldn't be cut up..I'm not a child & you should never cut up a steak unless it's being habachied. Ok, well make it over. I said DO NOT CUT UP. Brought me back, two pieces not cut, done correctly. What I submitted & told my bf they gave me precooked Habachi meat. We had the pleasure of dining here with friends from abroad, enjoying the cuisine, but unfortunately, the service did not meet expectations. Our group of five shared a large dish, but we had to request side plates twice and additional soy sauce and finally got them from the bar when they didn't arrive. Locating the waitress proved challenging, and our table's dirty dishes weren't ever cleared. When we finally got the bill we were informed it included an 18% service charge, which is dispersed among staff, and a suggestion to consider adding a more substantial tip was requested by the waitress. Came here for a farewell celebration since my family and I are going back to Massachusetts after a few days. I'm in my teens so when we got there it was visible I was the youngest. Everything went smoothly and the chief was making jokes that pleased our party. But then his jokes got repetitive, he would every now and then throw the food messily on my plate but then wouldn't clean it up. I thought it was part of the joke until he just kept throwing and throwing. You could see visibly on my face I was not amused. He noticed my annoyed face and did an unneeded petty apology when he could've done was just stop, taking my 2 second attitude to heart. I was a little hesitant to order from Tokyo given all the mixed reviews about their sushi, but me and my boyfriend actually had a very good experience ordering from here! We called first to make sure there was no possible nut contamination for the sushi (due to a severe allergy), and Tokyo verified that they don't use nuts or peanut oil in any of their dishes at this time. I had the Summer Roll which was totally delicious. The lobster salad on top tasted fresh and the shrimp tempura had a nice crunch to it -- very flavorful overall. I also had the Salmon Roll and that too had some fresh salmon. As for my boyfriend, he loved his Philadelphia Rolls and California Roll. We ordered around 6pm on a Thursday and it was ready for pickup in 20 minutes. We would happily order from here again. read more

Went there tonight for my son-in-law's birthday. Chef was great as usual but our food was mediocre. Service was ok but the real kicker was when we got the bill they had put an 18% service charge on it & it was not considered the tip according to waite. I know some restaurants put a tip on the bill if u have 6 or more people. I questioned the waiter & he said it was not a tip add on. We will not be going back!! For Mother's Day I told my son I wanted a steak and he took me here. We ordered the butterfly roll for appetizers and it was absolutely delicious and became a favorite - for which I will return. We actually got there for happy hour (not the plan, just how it went down). I ordered a filet - medium rare. What I got was chopped up hibachi steak. It was good but certainly not what I expected. Can you cook a steak medium rare when it's in little chunks like stirfry? Now, this could be my fault because I didn't realize what I was ordering at a Japanese steakhouse BUT for $32 I thought I would get a one piece of meat type filet mignon. I ordered the filet with scallops which were cooked perfectly. With everything on the plate covered in teriyaki sauce, it was not a rare dining experience. The bananas tempura for dessert was really good, as was the espresso martini. So the dinner was not a total loss and I will know better next time. But I do think it'll be happy hour when I return for my butterfly roll and espresso martini !!! read more

Your average hibachi place, with decent drinks, friendly staff, and fun ambiance. Stopped here on the last night of a week-long vacation at the beach with friends and all our kids -- there aren't a lot of restaurants that will appreciate a large group of kids (ages ranging from 1 to 10 years), but the folks here didn't flinch, and all of our families had a wonderful time. The food, sauces, and drinks were exactly as you'd expect -- my steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the portions were way more than any person could possibly eat on their own. We all enjoyed the grilling show, and our chef was incredibly good with the kids. There was a little bit of a wait when we first arrived (we hadn't placed a reservation, and it was a Saturday night, so it was only to be expected), but there are koi ponds and seating around the back (or maybe it's considered the side?) of the building. It's a little loud out there since you get all the noise from the highway that's right outside, but it allowed us to keep our gang entertained while we waited. Bunch of crybabies reviewing this place. If you want quiet, discrete service and atmosphere because you are "sensory", go elsewhere. This place is celebratory. If you have a seafood allergy, stay home. They serve shellfish! Imagine that! That said, my friends and I had a very nice experience last night. We were seated quickly at a hibachi table, put in our drink orders, and settled in to peruse the large menu, which had pics of the various sushi offerngs. My buddy and I ordered sake, the ladies preferred wine. Chef comes to the table, greets everyone, does his spatula flipping schtick, and gets to work. According to the ladies, their steak, scallops, and lobster were delicious. My buddy and I split the "love boat", loaded with sushi rolls, sashimi, and nigiri sushi, all fresh and delicious. There as a LOT of fish on that plate, and despite one of the ladies stealing a few pieces, we had difficulty finishing. It's a splurge evening, not inexpensive, but for a special occasion, worth it. I came in here tonight with my family including my uncle who has a SEVERE shellfish allergy. When making the reservation, we made it clear about the allergy. The hostess, waitress, and chef were directly told and made aware of his allergy as well. We ordered sushi rolls, one being the "Green Dragon Roll" which is supposed to have eel and masago, and no shellfish. When we received our food and began eating, we noticed a shrimp tail sticking out of the end of one of the rolls. My uncle had one piece of the roll, and we immediately called over the waitress when we noticed the shrimp in the roll. After telling the waitress repeatedly about the deadly allergy, she had mistakenly served us the "Dragon Roll", which had shrimp in it. While we appreciated that she took responsibility for the mistake and was very apologetic, we didn't appreciate mending the situation by getting my aunt a martini on the house. For the rest of the meal, she was wielding an epipen in fear of a deadly allergic reaction. On top of this, when receiving the bill, they had still charged my uncle for the shrimp roll that could have killed him. The managers should have know better and did not do their part to rectified the situation. DO NOT come here if you have a SEVERE allergy, because they have no protocol or steps of action if a deadly mistake like this happens again. If we have to go to the hospital tonight Tokyo Steakhouse will be paying for more than just a martini. read more

This is a staple for our family when we are in Lewes. It's classic hibachi with the flaming onion train, shrimp toss, etc and my kids have loved it since they were in high chairs. Now as teenagers they still love it and we all appreciate the quality of the food. We all had the filet mignon and it was delicious. We frequent this type of steakhouse, so have a frame of reference. The service was slow. There were about 6 birthday celebrations around us and they bang a gong very loudly. If you are not paying attention, it can scare you. It gets pretty annoying after a whole. The chef next to us was way too loud with all the animated "show" stuff. As for the food, the salad dressing was bland, the soup was too salty to eat and what they call mixed vegetables left a lot to be desired. The big thing about this Japanese/Chinese restaurant is that a party can request a hibachi seating. If so, all are seated around, well, a hibachi. After orders are taken and drinks obtained, a chef comes to the hibachi to cook for our hunger and our entertainment. The food is pretty good but it's not cheap. A few of our party members ordered sushi appetizers and they tasted great. Then there is the famous grilled meal. There are four choices at each meal category.....often salmon, shrimp, some kind of meat and chicken. You can order one, two, three or all four of the categories. The price goes up a dollar or so the more choices you take but all of the choices are reduced a little bit in quantity. The Chef puts on a pretty good show, frying a pile of vegetables on this side, a pile of rice on this side. The stars of the meal are put in the middle where the Chef scoops, cuts and tosses pieces of ribeye steak or your meat selection, shrimp if they were chosen. All of the proteins chosen by the group are fried and prepared in the middle of the hibachi to a great flourish by the Chef. At one point he even tosses a shrimp into his chef's hat. The Chef ends his cooking "show" by indicating that one person, who he points to, should be prepared to catch the shrimp he will toss into the air their way. My granddaughter's boyfriend did catch a shrimp in his mouth. Everyone else who had a shrimp toss their way missed. Yours truly indicated to the Chef that I did not want shrimp flying all around my face so he put the shrimp, already cooked, gently on my plate. This restaurant has been a favorite group dining spot since we moved to Sussex county almost 20 years ago. I took my meal home and got two more meals out of it, complete with friend vegetables, rice and protein. But be aware, this is not cheap. All together our meal, including four appetizers, one drink for me, four Mountain Dews, and four of the categorized meal....add tip, and it was over $175.00. I'm kinda a hibachi snob... been to dozens and dozens all over the US... so I tend to rate my hibachi experiences strictly on 4 factors... taste, service, quantity, quality and the showmanship! Okay so - this should have probably been a 2 1/2 but our waiter was a younger "kid" who spoke fluent English... he had a great sense of humor and was probably the highlight of the nite! The food was good... portions were good... no crappy mini corn as a veggie filler... tons of zucchini and broccoli! The Ribeye was way more fat than meat - scallops and chicken were amazing! A few good tricks from the chef to start out with... then the show died down. One of the reasons I love hibachi is the show... what has happened to that art?
