The Filet Mignon was excellent, the sushi was ok (sushi rice wasn't the best). Waiter was friendly and appreciative and the hibachi chef was mediocre but nice. Considering the fact that there are few hibachi options, this one is probably as good as you're going to find - which is unfortunate. Sushi is small, and hibachi is one-note - expect everything on your plate to taste exactly the same. Service is acceptable, if not brilliant. 100% non-memorable. We went for happy hour and sat at the sushi bar. We enjoyed a bottle of sake with salad and then a boat of assorted sushi and sashimi. (FYI next time I would request my sushi on a plate- the wood of the boat is breeding ground for mold and bacteria). I just want to mention after reading so many bad reviews and different experiences. I always eat at the sushi bar and never sit at a table this is a way that I know that my sushi is not premade and is fresh. It's almost like eating at two different restaurants. You get more information from the sushi chef from what's available and the best. I arrived late on a Wednesday night after a long day at work and Tokyo was one of the few places still open at that hour. The interior has a typical Asian vibe. The food was good. I had the tuna sashimi on a bed of white sticky rice, complimented by a Sapporo. I did not get an opportunity to try the hibachi on my visit because I arrived so late. One of my favorite restaurants to go to whenever I'm on the Eastern Shore! My family and I love this place! The food is ALWAYS spot on! I always order the sushi (either the Philly or Shrimp tempura rolls) first and then I order either shrimp and salmon w/rice and veggies or steak and shrimp w/rice and veggies. The entrees come with miso soup and salad. Soooo GOOD! The portion sizes are enough to feed you and a few lol. I always end up having food leftover. I would say that the food still tastes good the next day. The two negatives that I would say are: the reservation process could be better. Maybe a check-in portal would be helpful or text when the reservation is booked/ready to be seated. Also, with COVID-19, there should be more safety measures (i.e. enforcement of masks to be worn when not eating from everyone and staff, more distance between customers, sanitization stations, etc.). It's been awhile since I've been so maybe they have made some changes for the better. read more

Typically I love Tokyo Steakhouse in Lewes. Now I live closer to Salisbury. So I ordered takeout from this location. I did an online order which goes through Grubhub. They messed up my order at Tokyo and left out the tuna in a tuna, avocado, cucumber roll. They left out the best part of the roll and I was charged for the roll with tuna. I called and spoke with a manager (she didn't give me her name or anything). There was zero accountability taken for the error. Mistakes happen but there was no need for her to try and tell me I didn't order the correct roll when my email receipt clearly stated tuna in it. All that needed to be said was "Sorry for our mistake, unfortunately we can't refund you because your order came through Grubhub. You can reach out to them for a refund though." Or even offer a gift card for the mistake. Bottom line is you don't get sassy and talk down to or belittle a paying customer. The customer doesn't care how the mistake was made, but what can you do to resolve it. On top of this- When I came in to pick up my order I was told it would be 2 minutes. Okay no problem, so I sat down in the waiting area expecting the host to let me know when my food is ready. I sat there for about 10 minutes before I checked in again (not trying to be that person that keeps asking) and my food had been done sitting right next to her probably for a few minutes. It was clear she forgot all about me. Just poor service and management needs to learn how to handle themselves and act appropriately when things don't go just right. read more

The servers and sous chefs were super friendly. It started off great. Unfortunately, my food was over cooked. I thought it may be just me but everyone at my table felt the same way. Listen, this was bomb. My husband got hibachi and I got all sushi rolls. Christmas roll, rehobeth roll, spicy tuna, and the Maryland roll. The Maryland roll is straight fire. If you're from MD - this roll speaks to the core values of MD. It was literally like eating a crab cake in a sushi roll. Highly recommend. Husbands hibachi was great. This place was awful. We had a 2pm reservation and did not get seated until 2:34. Our chef dropped his spatula on the ground while trying to do a trick then proceeded to use it on our food until we objected. The chef continued to drop things and forgot who ordered what. One lady at our table didn't receive any veggies which was a mistake because she wanted them just without broccoli. I asked for noodles versus fried rice and cook forgot my noodles until all the food was finished in spite of me asking three times if he knew I was getting noodles. We all asked for medium well steak and were given well well. The kicker was blonde hair in my veggies. When the manager came she said 25% off just my meal and I said it was unacceptable so then I said I wanted my meal comped and she said no 40% is the best she could do. I warned her that I was displeased and because of hair in my veggies I'm pretty sure that my veggies came from a larger source of cut up veggies and therefore more may have touched it yet she refused to budge so I got $8 off a meal I threw away. She was a young Asian girl who came from the kitchen with thick flowing hair which should have been contained for sanitary purposes. I plan to call back and speak with a general manager or email. This was unacceptable and I can't believe a place would be that hard up for money that they would sacrifice their reputation. read more

This restaurant has really gone downhill. I came here tonight with my family & was very disappointed. As our cook started preparing to cook our food, he annoyingly waved his cooking tools in my husband's face as part of his introduction. This definitely caught us off guard, especially since he did it more than once. As he was cooking, we started to smell a strong burnt smell & started wondering why there was a lot of smoke accumulating above the grill. We realized he forgot to turn the hood on. My husband asked him to turn the hood on & he used the same tool he was cooking our food with to turn on the hood switch above his head. I thought to myself, "I know he's not about to use that same tool to continue cooking our food." Yep, that's exactly what he did. Didn't switch it out, clean it, wipe it off or anything. I was in disbelief. If you could've seen how dirty & oily the hood switch was, you'd be as disgusted as I was. The food itself was disappointing. Seafood was overcooked. Rice was burnt. It's safe to say I will not be coming back here again. My former favorite hibachi restaurant officially became the absolute worst hibachi restaurant I've been to in the past several years. Requested a side table as I am claustrophobic around large crowds of people. Was told it would be a 35 minute wait. After 35 mins, was called in and told my grill table would be ready. I told them I had asked for a side table, and they said it would be an additional 30 minute wait. They did not offer to remedy the situation in any way and were very rude (hardly acknowledged me at all). I had gone there a month ago and waited over an HOUR for my meal. Once I got my meal, they only gave me ONE of my two rolls. I had to wait an additional 30 minutes for ONE of the two rolls, and had to ask again about the third. I think this business is under new management and have new staff, which explains the poor recent service as I used to love Tokyo Steakhouse. Will not be going back anytime soon, and I advise you do the same if you live in the area (unless you like waiting 1-2 hours to eat). read more

Wow! This hibachi place was really great! I haven't been to a hibachi in a couple of years, New Jersey shot up in the amount of hibachi places so it was easy to get tired of it. We came in with a large group for a cousins's high school graduation. They sat our party down as soon as all guests were accounted for. I was pleased by their ability to honor our reservations. (I've had many experiences with Chinese owners who take reservations but upon arrival, the table wasn't ready.) The exterior and interior of the restaurant is nicely decorated, not completely authentic of a Japanese place but still provided a great atmosphere. We were able to order our food and drinks quickly; the server was prompt and courteous. Our chef was great!! He was hilarious and provided us with tricks. I believe he was the chef on the coupons for awhile. As I've mentioned, I have had plenty of hibachi but only few chefs have actually been able to entertain as well as the one from last night. This place gets a 4 because the overall experience was great, but the salad was too bulky and drowned in sauce. My clear broth soup was also a bit salty. read more

Some restaurants should just close and to me, Tokyo Steakhouse in Lewes is one of them. It's best for tourists who don't know any better. Skip the hibachi for sure and definitely skip the house entrees like chicken, shrimp and salmon in teriyaki sauce with fried rice. All overcooked and overpriced served with a nondescript salad and soup. Speaking of overpriced--the wine is so so with 4oz pouring at 8oz prices. Cultured Pearl is overpriced but at least the food is usually good. On a positive note, the sushi can be good, on certain days, but it also can be hit or miss. read more

I've been to this establishment hundreds of times and I've left disappointed too many times. The sushi here is very good however it takes so long for it to come out. Sashimi is suppose to come with 3 pieces however a handful of times they skimped and gave me 2 pieces. The hibachi is where they struggle. Some of the chefs are really good such as Sam. He made the best hibachi but unfortunately you can't request the chef you want. There was one guy named Andy that was terrible but they changed his name about 5 times assuming because people complained about him. I've had numerous times where I've crunched on eggshells from where the chef dropped the egg and left the pieces in the rice. I just stopped sitting at the hibachi table because I was no longer amused with the chefs. I use to love this place but my dinner tonight just pissed me off. I got the shrimp and filet mignon hibachi and my god.... I really wasn't satisfied at all. I sat at the side table because food normally comes out faster when I sit there. I asked for my filet mignon to be cooked medium rare and they over cooked it. It was burnt, dry, tough, and disgusting. My shrimp was black. My vegetables, burnt! Everything on my plate was burnt and tasted like charcoal. A plate like that should've never made it out of the kitchen. After last night, I don't ever seeing myself going back to Tokyo Steakhouse. First off, we were there for a birthday. We had a really new server-which we were very patient and understanding with. No issues with him at all. We had 3 mishaps last night, that continued to just escalate in the extremity. The first one, was when this random server came over to the grill we were at and decided to pour soy sauce in a bowl. The problem was, she grabbed the bottle upside down (like she was pouring liquor) and overtop one of my party members cell phone, couch purse, and birthday girl's flowers. The girl was not apologetic and just brought out a glass of water, to "right the wrong". The "manager" came over and said that that particular worker had been flustered all day and she had just got back from break. At neither moment did he offer to take anything off of the check, instead he told the party member to bring her phone back tomorrow to see if any damage was. The second incident was when another party member ordered sushi. She had ordered the sushi as an app, it came out with her entree. She tried 1 piece and did not like it. She asked for them to remove it from the check. This same manager came back and told her that he would not remove it from the check because "every item has a description beside it". He also said that he couldn't take it off, because she had a piece. I don't know anyone who cuts up a regular sushi roll. In my 7+ years in the service industry (most of them being serving years) I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS. The fact that this manager was actively going back and forth with this customer over an $8 sushi roll that she clearly only had 1 piece of was insane. The third and FINAL strike for me, was when checks were being passed out. 20 minutes had went by and everyone at our table had received their checks except for my friend and I, who were on 1. Our server came over and apologized for the hold up. He informed us that he was told to not give us out check because they were reviewing cameras because they thought we had a drink at the bar and didn't pay for it. Now this was when I lost my composure. My friend and I were literally at the bar for no more than 30 SECONDS before realizing our party was already there. We immediately left the bar and sat down. I had seen (I guess the other manager) walking around with her phone in her hand but I thought she was having a conversation... come to find out she was reviewing the camera footage. So now, I start asking questions. I asked them exactly how did they describe us, for them to hold up just our checks. They didn't hold up any other parties checks (white party at the grill besides ours came in after us and left before us, same thing with the party diagonal from us). We found out that they said "the black girl with red hair". Now mind you, 3 of us have degrees in social work. This was an open act of discrimination. Come to find out, the girl who spilled soy sauce was also the same girl who told them we didn't pay. She apparently Was their bartender. Eventually, they got to the footage and saw that we had NOTHING at the bar and informed our server to check us out. THAT ACCUSATION ALONE should've resulted in a comp'd check- on top of everything else. The women who was reviewing the footage came over to us trying to explain the situation. When it was vocalized that we were being discriminated against- she said "I'm not discriminating, I'm Asian". Then the boyfriend of the bartender/soy sauce girl came out and informed us that she doesn't discriminate because "look at me, I'm Asian". Needless to say, I will NEVER stop foot into this establishment. This was a HORRIBLE birthday experience. I've never been involved in such horrible customer service and lack of professionalism with managers. read more

Our nice waiter told us he tried a piece when he brought it to Kitchen and could not chew it. After the Owner agravated us a replacement steak was finally broght to us. Will never go back and do not need agravation from the Owner (no less??). Second I ordered ' miso soup and when it arrived I was with no taste and very watered out . I also ordered California rolls as well as spicy tuna rolls . The quality of these rolls are horrible . This place is great for memorable occasions. The best part of the service is definitely sitting at a grill and having the entertainment of the chef preparing the food directly in front of you. Make sure if you want something customized (or deviated in any way from the prescribed menu) that you stress that to the CHEF and not to the waitstaff. For anyone looking for a less social occasion (or just faster service) should request to sit at a table instead--the food is just as good, but it gets served much faster by the kitchen. Okay actually went last night but woke up hungry so writing my review now.....went to the sushi bar ....okay but small portions ....my husband ordered an appetizer as his dinner which came out with my salad both were great but then 30 mins later I still had NOT received my entree my server who up until I received my salad was very almost overwhelming attentive after I got my salad I never saw her again....my husband questioned the manager who apologized and brought my entree ten minutes later ........I said jokingly ......this is free right????? She flat out said no offered no discount to my meal or nothing. So I told her I didn't want it and she snatched the plate back. Mind you the restaurant had 2 table filled it was 8:30 on a Tuesday.
