Honestly what a nice dinner we had, lets get into it. First I want to start with the ambiance. I walked in and was floored, the renovations are beautiful. The attention to detail was immaculate, beautiful wood paneling for the ceiling, a big brick accent wall and the colors are just right it gives intimate setting while not feeling cramped. The noise levels are just right, its a lively atmosphere while not being too loud. Let's talk service because I actually need to give a shout out to the manager Scotty who came in clutch. Service in general was great, our waiter was attentive, polite, but not hovering. He was helpful and even asked about special occasions, which there was for once. Now, Scotty, this guy was a rockstar. So, they overcooked my wife's beef wellington and had to fire a new one. Not only did he explain what happened and was honest with us, he brought her out a complementary shrimp cocktail for the mistake and its little things like this that make a customer happy. So big shout out! Finally I want to close on the food, not just because of course the food and drink is a high point in most meals but because everything else was great! My steak was perfectly cooked, the prime rib as always is flavorful, buttery, soft and the chimichuri adds a nice zest to cut the richness. The vegetables were delightful but the meat is the high point. We had the escargot for an appetizer and I've never had it before. I must say they've made me a fan. We had reservations at 6pm but we still had to wait 15 min to get seated. Our waitress Taylor was nice but not attentive. I had to ask the busboy for more bread and water. FOOD: I got the Miso Soy Glazed Sea Bass w/Sticky rice, broccolini & ponzu sauce for $38. It was delicious! Fish was done perfectly, rice was sticky and delicious, and broccolini was tasty. They do their meat extremely well here to the tune of the birthplace year of this country - no surprise. My friend asked for a bigger table and they weee nice enough to give it to us despite being busy on a Saturday night. My friend also was concerned about the lamb being too gamey but wanted to give it a try. He was a big fan. I got to try a piece of his and it was good too. I went with the Denver steak- I never had this portion of meat before and I see why it is advertised as a separate item now. It is likely this was randomly packaged before or the cattlers kept it for themselves and just sold the masses everything else. Japan has been known to sell this meat portion decades? Ago known as 'zabuton' apparently. It isn't really a new "invention" per se, but apparently a meat association helped with the marketing and accessibility of this meat to make it what it is today. It appears many places do not offer this but a handful of places do offer this. The doors are nice and the signs don't strike me as stand out but they are nice easy to read aigns. The decor inside creates a beautiful ambiance of the classy restaurant that represents the food they served. The asparagus, carrots, Kennett mushrooms, were cooked well. The lamb was tender and juicy. My Denver was tender, juicy, and flavorful in a way that you don't need to add sauce and it might even be a faux pas to do so. I suggest medium or medium rare. I got mine medium well but for this kind of meat. I think medium rare is probably best. The key lime is 3 layers which is a cake and then key lime layer times 3 layers. My friend said it was a bit dry but we both thought it was good and all desserts are made in-house. My friend thinks a lot of butter is used in a lot of places to make the food taste truly good and I believe that. I don't really think about these things and just try to eat and appreciate what is in front of me, but it certainly is good to be mindful of these kind of ingredients used as well. The alcohol was fine. My friend's drink was not too sweet and my espresso cocktail had a good balance of flavor and booze. I asked for a shrimp add on and maybe the waitress didn't hear me but I didn't get that. However I also wasn't charged for it and by the meal's end when I realized this, I did not want this add-on. The first thing you notice when you walk into 1776 is the noise! The volume level is ridiculous! Our service was good. But I saw neighboring tables searching for their servers. Drinks were excellent! Steak was mediocre. Steak was nothing special. Brought my leftover steak home and never ate it. That's a sign! Twice baked potatoes were actually whipped potatoes. They were so good! But if you're looking for a place to enjoy a good meal with friends... this is not the place. Too loud for conversation! Lackluster steak! Not an actual potato in its jacket! This was a really nice place that was unexpected. When you go to a strip mall, the last thing you expect is a nice steakhouse. When you enter in, it's very bright and cheerful, but it is loud.. we started with drinks, which are very good as was the wait staff and service. It wasn't terribly crowded considering it was Fourth of July weekend. We both opted for the filet mignon. We didn't want a huge portion of steak and it was just enough and it was cooked perfectly. I did order the baked potato, which was sad to find out they had sold out. They did offer the twice baked potato but I had my heart set on a baked potato. They did bring steak to the table and came by with butter selection for you to finish off your steak.. it wasn't really necessary because the flavor was so good. All the food came to the table hot the service was excellent.. We can stay with confidence that we would definitely come back to 1776. We had a good solid meal here.. read more

I really would like to leave a better review but the problem is service. I'm a big believer in it as I've been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years. How do you not clear any of the silverware, (used or not) and keep additional more. Empty cocktail glasses just left there while we are having our wine. Bottom line is that it comes down to training and I'm starting to believe people either don't know or they just look the other way. The place is decorated/designed nicely. The food is good but not over the top and I believe when getting a filet with Béarnaise with lobster there should be more sauce and lobster. The server came around a bit late ( half way through my meal) offering complimentary compound butters. That comes down to lack of training and service once again. read more

We absolutely love 1776 Steakhouse! We were away for a girlfriends weekend. Our friends had gone there earlier in the week before we arrived. They told us we had to go to this restaurant. They offer an all-inclusive menu from 2 to 5 PM every day, which includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for $35. Everything was absolutely amazing. Their chocolate martinis with a chocolate disc lid, stenciled in gold dust are the best I've ever had and I'm in my 60s. Rob was our server and he was polite and professional. We, a party of 4 had dinner at the restaurant yesterday afternoon, 8/29/2026, and cannot say enough good things about the restaurant. We originally had reservations for 8:30 but decided to go early, we sat in the bar area at a very comfortable high-top. We enjoyed happy hour and the pre fixe menu items. We all enjoyed a very delicious meal...we were able to add the Beef Wellington to this for a little extra $ and it was well worth it. Our waitress was Nicole, she went above and beyond to make our experience even better. She was so accommodating, friendly and an over-all GREAT waitress. We talked with Scotty, the manager to give our a commendation for her and he was also very nice and friendly as was Beth, the hostess on duty. We'll definitely will be back. read more

We had our neighborhood ladies lunch here this month while the dining room was closed. It is the first time I have eaten here. The inside is lovely, they had drinks set up self serve for water and tea and the bar was open for anyone wanting a cocktail. I had the a chicken dish that was excellent. The service was good, my only complain was our space was limited so we were packed into the tables. I know they are changing hands soon so not sure what things will be like in the future. read more

We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary. The renovations were wonderful. The restaurant and bar are beautiful. We were seated in the dining room, close to the bar. It was very loud but we knew that from previous reviews. Our server was new. We ordered drinks and didn't wait too long. The maple bourbon old fashioned was on point. We ordered and enjoyed our drinks. Apps came out quickly. The oysters Rockefeller were delicious. The tuna tartare was extremely salty. We would have mentioned this to our server had he checked in. As we were finishing, he brought steak knives and I told him about the tuna. He said he would tell the chef (I doubt he did). He didn't clear our plates. The food runner brought our entrees but we still had our app plates. It was very awkward trying to clear our own plates while he also put our entrees down. Multiple servers, bus people, hostesses, etc. had walked by and saw our empty plates. I would think someone would have cleared them. The filet trio was cooked perfectly and was fabulous. My husband's ribeye was also cooked perfectly. At this point, we finally saw our server again. We had no water and I had no drink for about 15 minutes before he came back. I ordered a rosemary old fashioned and asked for more water. He brought more water but I waited 10 minutes for my drink. Had our server been back sooner, I probably would have even ordered a third drink. We finished our dinner but needed some wrapped up. He brought us a box. I do know many people prefer to wrap their own food. I've worked in many restaurants- both upscale and casual. We always offered to box leftovers. We then ordered the banana cream pie and devoured it. It was amazing. Overall, food was delicious (except the tuna). Service was just bad. Our server couldn't multitask to save his life. He barely touched the table. Also, when I had asked what the sides were, he mentioned 4 and said "and many more." I thought that was funny. Other staff also walked by and no one else touched the table. It seemed like there were multiple managers, but again, no one touched the table. At this price point, service should be impeccable (as it used to be). We may try it again (most likely happy hour). It also didn't help that two tables away a guy kept dropping loud f-bombs while there was a family with two teenage daughters sitting next to us. I'd give 4 stars for food and 1 star for service. I agree with the other reviews being wholly confused how this place is so highly praised. My husband and I visited for a special event. There was an issue with every single course we ordered. Wrong drink, bad oysters, foul fish, undercooked steak. I'm dumbfounded how this place can get so much wrong while claiming to be a high end restaurant. Even the sides were so underwhelming it was shocking. Our waitress was trying, but she mentioned she was brand new. Realistically she absolutely wasn't ready to be on the floor. Such a shame. We ate there a month ago and I thought I would post my thoughts about the evening. We had reservations and were seated fairly quickly.....the problem.....where you enter the restaurant is very tight, the desk to check in is stuck in a corner and the noise from all the people was awful. You could not hear your name being called or get thru the crowd. Whoever was responsible for the redesign of the restaurant did not do a very good job. The tables are way too close together and there are so many of them the noise level is really awful. We could hardly talk across the table to one another. In addition, there is really not a nice area to enter in the restaurant....you walk into the bar and if it is busy...good luck.....you can hardly move more or less get to the hostess. The menus are ridiculously large and unwieldy to look at. I didn't even know where to put it when I was finished. On a positive note......our food was excellent and very nicely prepared. We will go back and perhaps try it in the afternoon and see how it is. Unless they take a few tables out and have some breathing room for the diners it will not be our choice for dining.....no matter how good the food is! read more

This is THE place to go in "Reho" for fine food steaks and especially prime rib. We've gone here for years to celebrate birthdays and special occasions. One was able to (& smart to) reserve cuts of prime rib along with your reservation because they would actually run out very quickly. The ownership has recently been handed to very capable hands but I am unsure whether this policy will continue. The Caesar salads is very traditional and delicious. Every time I visit I must have the tempura-like battered and finely seasoned onion rings - just perfect with a nice cut of prime rib! The oysters Rockefeller are some of the best I've had. Large, plump oysters roasted in a cheesy spinach topping are an East-coaster's heaven. The prime rib is slow roasted,, tender, savory and juicy. I'm talkin' melt in your mouth prime beef! Desserts are fantastic as well! Our go to is the banana cream pie but the creme brulee is also very good. This place is in a strip mall but the interior has just been redone by new ownership and is upscale. Service has always been very accommodating and quick. Make reservations well in advance. It's a tad pricey but for some of the best prime rib and fine food in the region, IMHO 1776 is hands down the place to go. Time will tell whether this quality of food and service will continue as promised with the new ownership ....fingers are crossed. read more

I feel very lucky to have been able to get a reservation here on a holiday weekend no less! I made a reservation few days prior. My friend is a big steak lover and so he too was super excited about this place. When you walk in, it is decorated beautifully for the holiday times. We were sat at a table for four in the corner and they hade like a divider so you couldn't see people walking in and out and it gave a feel of privacy. To start our cocktails were tasty. I had a lemon drop martini. Sugar on the rim and strong! I had never seen how they serve the extra martini for you to refill when you are ready too. It comes in a small bottle like container as you see in my pictures. my friend had I think an Old fashioned. He too said it was good but very strong. For food I had french onion soup that was superb to start. Probably the best I have ever had. It wasn't too cheesy, just the way I like it. We also got served warm rolls with two different butters. One was regular and the other was an herb honey butter If I remember correctly For my main I had a 6oz filet with a side of asparagus and mashed potatoes. And As you can see in the pictures my friend also had steak but I don't remember which he got. We both like cleared our dishes. That is how good it was. To top off the great meal we had we also had a wonderful waitress who took my allergies into consideration, she was personable and was funny too. Unwelcome and Rushed, Pushed Out in 100 Minutes! We have been 1776 patrons for over 3 decades, including 4 visits to the new 1776. Until now 1776 was our favorite steakhouse at the beach. On May 8, 2026, we met another couple for a 3:30 pm reservation. We were initially seated by the piano. The restaurant was pretty empty and we ask for a table in the main dining room away from the piano. The hostess balked several times from moving us at all, but finally relented and moved us to a table across from the piano, but not in the main dining room as requested. Our server was unfriendly, never smiled through the entire meal service, and kept asking us if we were ready to order drinks despite that there were 4 of us and only 1 drinks menu. We pointed out that we had to share 1 drinks menu 4 ways and it would take a minute to select drinks. Once we ordered drinks she kept pushing us for our food order. We told her we needed a second "Pre-Fixe" daily specials menu as the table only had one to share among the 4 of us. We finally ordered a starter and our dinners. The scallop chips arrived quickly and were delicious as always. They were followed by salads. The wedge salads were nicely chilled, but this time were skimpy on portions, blue cheese crumbles, bacon, and dressing. Entrees were mostly delicious, but one "twin beef tenderloin medallions" plate was served with 2 oddly shaped tenderloin tips that were tough and hard to chew. The restaurant / chef / kitchen should know better than to substitute cheaper "tips" for "medallions." Dinner was followed quickly by desserts. During the starter and all 3 dinner courses our unfriendly, unsmiling server hovered and removed dishes before other diners had finished the course. During dessert she threw one check down without asking if we wanted to split it. When she brought 2 checks back she had the split wrong. We settled amongst ourselves and left angry and upset. Agree with the reviewers who were left wondering what the hype was about. We had an early reservation and the place was already full. Wonderful job on the renovations but that's where the high praise ends. First miss was the $16 cosmo that was half full and sadly lacking in any alcohol. Shrimp cocktail was nicely presented in a chilled goblet. Service was mediocre. When the table next to us got bread we looked forward to ours but it never came. We did finally ask the runner who served our meals and he brought us some. Steaks were dry and overcooked -- asked for medium and there was no pink. No seasoning either apart from a little flaked salt. Creamed spinach which was an upcharge as a side was literally spinach with cream. Not a composed dish at all. Bernaise, also an upcharge was gelatinous and had no flavor. Bottom line -- we were expecting a lot based on the hype and some of the reviews -- and it didn't deliver. You can do much better elsewhere. Kindle, Harbor or Lewes Oyster House are all great choices. read more

We're not regulars my wife and I travel down once a year from Pittsburgh and always go to 1776 we always enjoy it. this time we had 6 o'clock reservations for June 26 Thursday we were sat promptly to a very nice atmosphere with the gentleman on piano, which was very nice My wife and I played name that tune between ourselves. My wife gets the fillet trio every time without fail, and it was wonderful. I ordered the New York strip, medium my steak came out well done no issue my wife and I were having such a lovely evening together and her meal so enjoyable I did not fuss. I ate my delicious onion rings and when my server finally came and asked if everything was OK I said my steak was well done and I did not want it but I told her everything else was wonderful my server left the table went to speak to the her manager with the very long hair and a red blazer she never came to the table and then my server returned. She said they wouldn't charge me for the meat and then proceeded to lectured me on how I should return a steak and that I should have told her and why did I cut it so many times I feel I was polite and not saying to server you never returned to the table so I could not tell you your meat was severely overcooked. I also cut it so many times out boredom I did not want a replacement because two hours is enough in fine dining. I could not have done a third hour my only recommendation you don't make your customer feel bad when you overcook their food I wouldn't have even left this. I never even ate a piece of this steak bullies. Finally, I did tip on the original bill before it was adjusted in retrospect. I should not have. I should have altered the tip for the service which I received. PS my server blamed the cooks for the late service and the overcooked steak and as a back of the house manager myself. We were at 1776 a couple of weeks ago, first time since it was sold. Our party included 4 adults and 1 toddler. Here's the pros and cons... Pros: 1) Service was great...went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed for our toddler, drinks came out quickly, and checked back to be sure we were happy. 2) Two of us ordered the filet...was cooked perfectly, had good flavor, and was a good cut. 3) Caymus is still available at a very good price! Cons: 1) We were big fans of the escargot from 1776...they've changed it up...and in our opinion, not for the better. We really miss the sauce, and the bread that was key to sopping up the sauce. We could live with this, as there are many other appetizers to choose from, if this was our only issue. 2) Probably the biggest faux pas was two folks from our party ordered the ribeye. Big bucks and the ribeye that was served was very thin...we are farmers and routinely deal with butchers...the cut was definitely less than an inch thick...perhaps 3/4 of an inch, and it was chewy. Not sure where they are sourcing their beef, but I hope for their sake, that they get this right in the future. There are many good steak houses in the area...Houston and White, Theo's, Parkway, Nantucket, Harvest Tide, etc...I hope this was just opening jitters...but I have to say it was so bad that we already changed future reservations for our family. read more

Had dinner reservations for five people yesterday. Everything about our experience was fabulous. Our server, Michelle, was excellent, not only was she efficient and on top of everything but she had a great personality. we ordered the lobster ravioli and scallop chips as appetizers and everyone loved them. Three people ordered the fixed price salmon and no complaints from anyone. I am a steak eater and I have to say they set the bar on how to cook a steak. Delicious and cooked perfectly. I just returned from vacationing in Key West and I have to say 1776 blew Bagatelle out of the water. It was truly one of the best steaks I've ever had! Even the sides and soup were delicious as well as the warm bread. The restaurant was packed and I can see why. Kudos to the kitchen and warm friendly staff. 1776 has been expertly remodeled, and it has the ambience of a modern fine dining steakhouse. The bar was extended in order to accommodate its many customers. There was no wait for us to sit for our 6:30 reservation. The popovers served before our meal were tasty and a nice touch. My old fashioned and my husband's dirty martini were very well made. The wine list is greatly improved. Our waiter, Stephano, was pleasant, well versed, and speedy. The escargot was delicious. My husband's 7 oz. filet was good. However, I was disappointed with my rack of lamb. More than half the meat was nestled in fat. I would not order it again. read more

People couples.that had No reservations got seated where we had requested to be seated at the time of our reservations . My husband was sitting practically in a doorway where people were coming in. They were busy I understand. But our server, Rob B was absolutely terrible. He tried to push things that we didn't want he did not have a personality.
