The highly anticipated reopening of 1776 Steakhouse has not only lived up to the hype, it has completely blown past it. This is, without question, the best 1776 has ever been, and that is saying something. While the stunning renovation immediately catches your eye with its elevated colonial chic aesthetic, the real story goes far beyond the design. The entire experience has been refined and elevated in a way that feels both fresh and deeply respectful of what made this place special to begin with. The steaks are on another level. You can instantly tell the quality of the meat has improved. Every bite is incredibly tender, deeply flavorful, and cooked to perfection. These are easily the best steaks in Delaware right now. Long-time fans will appreciate that the soul of 1776 is still intact. The perennial favorites are still here, and some have even been elevated in thoughtful ways that make them feel new again. At the same time, the new menu additions are both delicious and visually stunning, adding a layer of excitement and discovery. There truly is something for everyone. The cocktail program deserves its own mention. The menu is thorough and thoughtfully curated, delivering creative craft cocktails just as well as it executes the classics. Whether you want something familiar or something inventive, it hits on every level. What makes 1776 especially impressive is how it balances being high end without ever feeling pretentious. It is polished, warm, and welcoming all at once. The team is incredible, and the service is impeccable from start to finish. This place has already surpassed expectations and will continue to do so. It is very clear that 1776 is about to become the go-to steakhouse for the Delaware beaches, and honestly, it has a strong case for the entire state. An absolute home run.

I really would like to leave a better review but the problem is service. I'm a big believer in it as I've been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years. How do you not clear any of the silverware, (used or not) and keep additional more. Empty cocktail glasses just left there while we are having our wine. Bottom line is that it comes down to training and I'm starting to believe people either don't know or they just look the other way. The place is decorated/designed nicely. The food is good but not over the top and I believe when getting a filet with Béarnaise with lobster there should be more sauce and lobster. The server came around a bit late ( half way through my meal) offering complimentary compound butters. That comes down to lack of training and service once again.

Crème brûlée cheese cake! Wild berry sherbet.

10/10. Best experience. We were from out of town and went for an anniversary. Between the food, the service, and the live music .... We loved it!!!

Went there for the prefix meal with my wife the other day everything was top-notch cocktails were delicious. Steak was cooked perfectly. Will be dreaming about that crème brûlée cheesecake.

    My "medium-rare" steak.

I agree with the other reviews being wholly confused how this place is so highly praised. My husband and I visited for a special event. There was an issue with every single course we ordered. Wrong drink, bad oysters, foul fish, undercooked steak. I'm dumbfounded how this place can get so much wrong while claiming to be a high end restaurant. Even the sides were so underwhelming it was shocking. Our waitress was trying, but she mentioned she was brand new. Realistically she absolutely wasn't ready to be on the floor. Such a shame. Considering how terrible everything was, it's not even worth a second chance.

Does this restaurant serve yuengling on draft? My husband and I want to celebrate about 5 events he's going to be missing over the next year and he loves yuengling on draft!

Not on draft, but I believe they have it in bottles. Good luck & enjoy!

Will the prime rib available on Thursday October 14 th?

It was available during the summer for that day but you should call them to verify plus make a reservation anyway to be safe!!

The portions for most of the food is deceptively large and all scratch recipes. You will be leaving with take-out boxes for sure. The Service was pretty awesome. Last summer, my wife and I discovered First State, which at the time was still new. Dallas was our server the first time that we ate at First State, and then we were lucky enough to have him again this time and he remembered us. Before we could get a word out he said "Hey, welcome back!" like we had been friends for years. BEST SERVER EVER! Extremely attentive without crowding our table. Very knowledgeable. I suspect that that is a reflection of the whole staff. The hostess was pleasant. A bit quiet but pleasant. The bartender, Joel (?), seemed fun and engaging. He welcomed everyone like they were regulars, and really looked like he was enjoying his job. Even the young kid that dropped our food was on point, setting our dishes in the right places without asking. Making sure that we didn't need anything before he left. The whole experience was great. I'm a fan and we will be back. The atmosphere and vibe was fun and relaxing. Not your standard rush to order, eat fast, and "here's your bill" sit down restaurant. The restaurant is very clean and it is open and spacious. The place has that great neighborhood brewpub vibe feel. We LOVED the beer label walls! I want to do that in my man cave! Awesome idea. The large TVs were playing a variety of sports. The music was pretty good. Maybe a touch loud. They have live music that seemed to be setting up as we were leaving. Apparently they have live music every Friday and Saturday. We wish that we could have stayed. Dallas said that the band coming in that night was pretty popular. All in all, First State was a fun, and delicious dining experience. my only criticism would be that it is a bit pricey. I understand that scratch restaurants are going to be more expensive, but charging someone for a small container of sauce seems a little like nickel and dime budgeting. Understandable but not attractive All in all, First State is a great time. Ask for Dallas. He's next level service and you'll leave with a new friend. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR FIRST STATE!!!!

I only had the one I paid for. There's no need to lie, bad days happen. This is not a speakeasy, this is a restaurant cosplaying as a speakeasy. That may be a bit harsh, it's a speakeasy in training. Sure, it's got all of the speakeasy decor, blackout curtains over the windows and doors, and a big selection of pedestrian liquor but it's not quite there. We went in on an early evening on Wed and there were maybe 5 other patrons in there. Our waitress was nice and brought us water to the high top. She brought us two food menus, and a specials menu. I asked for a bourbon list and she brought it; no prices on the list. Annoying. On the specials menu there was a small section of manager recommended drinks and one was a Willet. The way it was written was confusing because it said it was both a 4 year and 14 year for $52, so I asked for clarification on the age statement. She took the menu to the barkeep, who confirmed it was a 14 year so I said yes I'll have that. A drink was brought to me, but I could tell from the taste that it was not what I ordered. I asked the waitress for the bottle, she asked the guy behind the bar for the bottle and he pulled down a willet pot still bottle (pot still is the entry level Willet and at best a 5 dollar pour, no where near what I asked for). I told her that I was given the wrong drink, then she approached the bar and between her, and the male and female bartenders they had a weird back and forth conversation. Then, finally they pulled down the bottle that I asked for, that was advertised, and gave me a pour of it. I asked to see the bottle and the waitress brought it over but held it instead of putting it on the table (it was a 13 year Willet, Paper Trail). As we were about to order we were told that they reset the menu the very day before, with the focus of putting more love and care into the food. Feeling good about that, we ordered the French quarter catfish and the bourbon braised short ribs. The corn that came with the short ribs tasted straight out of a store bought steamable pouch, and the "ribs" weren't ribs at all, just sliced meat. The only redeemable thing about the catfish dish was the aioli; the rice had no flavor, the corn was cold and hard, and the catfish was mostly breading. We both took a few bites and resigned. I have been to many speakeasies around the US, and there are common themes: a much better selection of liquor; 95% of the bourbon were low tier bottles you can find in any liquor store for around $50. Also, when customers ask for the bottle, it isn't because we plan to steal it or drink from it, its because we're genuinely interested in the information on the labels. The quickest way to get people to stop spending money is to make them feel as if they can't be trusted touching a bottle. Perhaps it was an off day for the staff and this wasn't a typical experience, but I won't go back.
