Literally just 16oz sides that they have to scoop in a styrofoam container and I've typed this entire review while waiting for them to get the side of beans they forgot. No common sense from any of the employees. No reason it should take more than 10 minutes to fulfill the order. They must be doing a lot wrong for it to take over 30 minutes with me standing in their lobby for 20 of those minutes. read more

I have to give this restaurant 5 stars just for the excellent treatment we were given last night. We were throwing a surprise party for one of my family members and they decorated the tables for us, and even when we brought extra decorations, they placed it all out in an amazing display. The surprise was kind of ruined when the birthday boy walked in and the waitress asked, "are you here for the surprise party," but it was fine because he was still excited and humbled by the fact that we did this for him. And after the little mess-up, I swear, every staff member apologized to us at least one point in the night for "ruining" the surprise. The food was excellent. I got a chile verde chimichanga, and I forced that sucker down despite how full I was. And even after the two slices of cake I ate, I also ordered some delicious deep fried ice cream. I will never come back here-I ordered lengua and what I got was. It's and pieces of meat and lots of sauce, while the sauce was delicious you'd think the waitress advise the customer that portions are bit low-instead they serve it and when I addressed my concerns she did nothing to fix the problem, not even offer to swap my meal. Toledo's is like your ADD ridden child - Unfocused, unkempt and just a disappointment to the family, but you know what they're trying and they've got heart so maybe you'll practice a little TLC before you completely give up and curb them when no ones looking. The actual restaurant looks like every other average, suburban, generic, nick nack ridden, kitschy establishment that litters the Clovis landscape. Food quality is about what you would expect walking in. It feels like a chain where the grime of oversized families remains on everything your touching. The staff though is really quite friendly, even when encountering the demands of myself and my family. Toledo's offers a vast menu, but I wasn't there for an expedition. They need to trim back, buckle down and focus on some signature dishes. We don't need 101 options served up on a bed of mediocrity, we just need a handful of tasty plates to indulge in. We spent ages combing through the pages of offerings, many of which were difficult to differentiate from each other based on the descriptions, before finally turning to our waiter and waitress to help steer this lengthy excursion with their friendly recommendations. Chips seemed fresh, crisp and plenty salty and the table salsa was a hearty pico de gallo. It was fresh and well prepared, but we were served a mighty dainty proportion. I told our waitress, "We're salsa folk here and are going to need a bit more or a bigger bowl please." She came out with two soup sized bowls full of salsa. I'm a salsa fiend and a mexican nut and this was exceptional and heavenly. Color me more than just pleased, let's go with ecstatic, on the service at this establishment. I had Louie's special which consisted of jumbo shrimp, top sirloin and chicken sauteed with onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and cilantro. It was essentially a mixed fajita (also on the menu) with a sweet tomato sauce dressing. The meat was average and not so juicy, the sauce was average and too sweet for my liking, it was all just rather underwhelming. My dining companions, aka mi familia, expressed similar sentiments regarding each of their respective dishes. Went to eat last night because I was craving menudo. They were out of albondigas, out of mole, and out of chocolate milk. (Son had one glass) each time we ordered it took her 15-20 min to come tell us they were out. We waited over an hour for 2 menudos and chicken strips with fries. It was slow and everyone around us got there after and were served before us. Super disappointing in the service! Melani was nice and cheerful but not sure if she's new. Whenever I asked for condiments i had to ask 2/3 times and some were still forgotten. She covered my 2 glasses of beer but over all- it was a disappointment! This saddens me to have to give a bad review on a very old local Restaurant that has a lot of potential. Horrible service and horrible food. We go to the mission village location a lot and have had a few after funeral receptions there. The menus are exactly the same and I have ate at this Clovis location before. Mission village never disappoints us. First off it took a while for the waitress to come to our table. Yes she was busy so not a huge deal. I asked for water with lemon... What so I get water with no lemon and hardly any ice so it's room temp. Ok not a big deal... Ordering... We ordered extra salsa with the chips.. We had to ask twice for that then she finally brought it after the chips were gone. I ordered the queso fundido which I've had more then a few times.. Ordered an half order... When it comes it's a full order. We told her is this a half order she's says "I told them to do half but they did full".... Ok then... The cheese was yellow almost like it was mixed with Nancho cheese.. I asked isn't this supposed to be with the white cheese.. She says "oh yeah it normally is I thought it looked different" and just stared at me.. I respond.. Did you change the menu? She says she's not sure and will go ask.. She comes back and says " they no longer have the white cheese and are now making it with yellow cheese" I say.. Well you should tell your customers that when we order and expect it to be white.. I then had to ask for tortillas for it.. Even though it normally comes with tortillas. Tortillas finally arrive and I take 1 bite and it does not taste the same as the original recipe. Left it there and didn't eat it. The rest of our order comes and is sooo salty I even tried to put Ice in my ambondigas to dilute how salty it was and that didn't work so I didn't eat my dinner. My husbands shredded beef taco dinner the beef was also very salty.. And both of our rice was greasy and hard looking like it had been sitting for over a day. After waiting a long time for her to check up and refill our waters after our salt licks we asked for a bill. She charged us for the full order of the half order we ordered... How does that work? We order a half order.. You choose to make us a full order with different cheese and after I told You it doesn't taste the same and you should inform me if your gonna take it upon yourself to change the recipe your still charging me and charging me full not half like I ordered... She also charged for the tortillas I asked for because she never brought them and should have been included in the dinner.. And can see we didn't eat our food after telling her how salty it was and needed more water... I guess everyone needs To make money even if their food and service is crap! We could have asked for management and get out of the bill but that's not how I roll.. I told her more than a few times I wasn't happy with the food. She chose to ignore me so this is why I won't go there again and response with a review of their service. We will never got here again! Sticking to rosa Linda's! Despite the legally mandated weekly consumption of Mexican food this is another Clovis joint I just hadn't made time for before. Hang on. Slight digression... I know Yelp is all about OPINION. And so it follows that, in my humble opinion, the folks panning this place are on crack (it f***s you up). Bitching about a little grease in Mexican food is like crying when your ice gets cold... We went in on a Tuesday night, had a chicken quesadilla, a chimichanga, a salad of some sort, guacamole, and, of course, lots of fresh-made chips. There may have also been some beer and margaritas, but according to the conditions of my parole I couldn't indulge in an incredibly well-made adult beverage. So I wouldn't know if it was a perfect on-the-rocks blend of tequila and other flavors. But, uh...my friend said it was. The food was great. The meat was perfectly cooked. The rice was light and flavorful. The beans were fresh. The tortillas were flat. I've got to say: this was the best Mexican food I've had in a while. The service was outstanding. Granted, it was a Tuesday, but good service, appropriate attention to the kids, and prompt refilling of the drinks means a lot. This was my first time here, and not bad for Clovis. The Mexican restaurants I have eaten at nearby, have been horrible! So here is my experience: When we first walked in, I thought the food/experience was going to compare to my not so great Clovis mexican restaurant past because the decor looked a little dated (but that could be intentional). After we were seated and served with out chips n salsa, we were forgotten about for 10/15 min. When the waitress showed up, good service and a friendly smile continued. (a funny side note: We asked for a small side of guacamole and we had no clue what she said, but it sounded like small monkey Hahah). Food: overall good, what I didn't like was the salad, rice and beans... Just not good! However, the condiments made up for it all.. I have been to Toledo's multiple times. However, tonight I had the worst service ever. I originally called ahead to see if we could make a reservation but informed they do not take them. After waiting at least thirty minutes, they seated a group of seven who had just arrived. When I inquired, the waitress stated the group of seven had a reservation. Staff could tell I was slightly frustrated. Once we were seated, it took over 20 minutes to get waters to the table. I actually had to call the front desk while sitting in the booth to ask for water. The waitress did well but had a slight attitude due to the circumstances. Needless to say - even though the food is good - I won't be returning. Hey there Toledos! Wanted to let you know that you have the best bartender in town!! My friend and I stopped by for lunch last Sunday and each ordered a margarita on the rocks, to start with and we still can't remember where we ended!! We didn't mind at all that our drinks were 98% tequila with a teaspoon of lime juice. We made it through a second round, but then I decided to stop there because a DUI would suck. Butt my friend was bold enough to order a third drink, which enabled her to have the best X mas shopping day ever!!! She didn't even notice the rediculous crowds and her stumbling around helped to clear a path for me to follow her. I always knew where she was because I could hear here talking to me three stores away. I was a bit embarrassed by her when we visited See's Candies. She acted like a meth addict who unknowingly stumbled into a flour factory. I do have to admit that it was nice following my friend as she crowded all the lines, in every store, so we didn't have to wait to pay for our goods and I was still buzzed enough to not care or notice. It was great when it first opened but has gone down hill since. The salsa is very good most of the time. The chips are great when they're fresh because they sprinkle a flavorful seasoning on them. However, their taste is inconsistent, and sometimes they are saturated in grease. The cuts of meat on the carnitas and chile colorado have way too much fat on them. The rice is inconsistent in preparation and flavor. The beans are average. The shredded chicken is generally very good. The service is generally good. The restaurant is clean and decorated nicely with a comfortable ambiance. There are so many good choices for Mexican food now and sadly Toledos is falling behind. read more

So Sad.. Toledo's has been one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants for a few years now. My wife and I use to love to go there for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. But.. things have been going down hill for a while now. First they did away with their Specials... that should have been a sign to us. Then the prices went up... OK.. I'm willing to pay more, times are tough. But the last two times we ate there the food has just not been good. The Concha tostadas we had today, under the tent, were not worth eating. The ground beef, which use to be my favorite, was totally tasteless. There was very little lettuce. In fact, it was little more than a shell smeared with a few beans and thrown on a plate for $12. If they don't get their act together, they will be finished. Sorry to be so negative but it was just lousy food. read more

We had the most amazing dinner last night. The service outstanding. Our waiter was attentive and visited our table frequently asking about drinks and how the food tasted. Later the host/manager stop by to ask if we needed anything. The food was great. We both order combination plates. Many Mexican restaurants do not offer a green salad as part of the dinner and it was a lovely way to start off our dinner. My tamale was well filled with delicious pieces of pork- the best tamale I can remember. The shredded chicken tacos were generous filled and top with plenty of lettuce and cheese. Me and my family always go to this location and we love it. Always sat very quickly and greeted by a server very quickly. They make sure salsa and chips are always on the table. First visit here on a not so busy weekday for a company dinner, we started off near the bar waiting for the rest of our party before requesting a table- boys had a deal they had on drinks that included a beer and a tequila shot. I wish I could have partaken but I'm very much pregnant. We got to our table- dining area seemed spacious. I'd only say by the end of dinner my ass was killing me- them chairs are a no no. I had the shrimp Diabla I think it was? It was a sweet spicy shrimp, a side of veggies and rice with my choice of flour tortillas. I thought it was delicious and I'd order again- however their tortillas were massive. Burnt, and torn apart when I tried to get them out of the tin foil, really disappointing. Well what can I say? Having been raised by homemade Mexican food I'm not that impressed with the food here. The beans are very bland, no flavor. Same thing with the rice. I only ordered the steak tacos so can't comment on the other dinner items. Service was good. I sat outside as with most restaurants it can get quite noisy inside. Only problem with outside tables is fighting off the flies. And expect to have a bit longer wait for your server too. The steak tacos were good. They have two different salsas. Red and green. Oh, the chips that they serve are peppered with hot chili powder making them real spicy. I prefer plan chips and best to have the cooks make you a batch plain if you don't want spicy chips with powered Chile on them. It's hard for a large place like this to maintain the same quality that's like home and I understand that.
