Ah, time passes, things change...there are now two salsas offered with tortilla chips but neither is what we once were served. And the chips were not very good. Probably no longer cooked in-house. The carnitas burrito was my favorite for 2 decades but it is no longer made the way I loved it. It's now more like an enchilada with beans on the side. And with cheese! We go get food a lot from El Bajio. Sometimes it's a hit or miss. The food is good, but what my man and I ask for, sometimes we don't get. Such as asada meat, beans etc. The service is ok I will say. I know to make sure while picking up our order and leaving, to check it. read more

Was told it was worth trying. It's not. My dinner partner enjoyed her meal but I had a lot of issues with mine. I got the La Diabla plate and it had very little heat to it. A dish with Diabla in the name should make you break out in a sweat just from looking at it. The taste was strange and not really enjoyable. Like what I do with other disappointments, I took it home and added my own ingredients it so it was palatable. On the plus side, the chicken was tender. Portion size was smaller than at other restaurants. Service was adequate. read more

There was one reviewer who had the same problem i did. Friends of the owner showed up and it was over for me. I was totally ignored and all the attention was given to that family. The waitress went over there at least 6 times to help them and i didnt get a offer of more soda. That was sad. And you know what, i always tip but this time i didnt leave nothing. Its sad when they prioritize friends over customers. It will be a long while b4 i go back. read more

First time here. Lived around the area for a while and I just wanted to check it out. Ordered the chile verde burrito. First you get fresh chips and salsa. Then pretty soon after that I got my food. The burrito plate came with rice and beans. Pretty tasty and not too saucey! The pork was tender and there was a lot of food so I had to get a to go container. First and last time visiting El Bajío. We walked in and the place was nearly empty only a couple of tables occupied. At first, things seemed okay: chips, salsa, and drinks arrived quickly. But once a large group of men came in, the waitress completely shifted her focus to them. She kept checking on their table constantly while ignoring ours. We were just two people, and the restaurant wasn't busy at all so there was no excuse. I waited over 15 minutes just to get a chance to ask for water, and by then I was already too irritated to even bother. We had asked for the check before the other table, yet she prioritized them again and brought theirs first. The food (I had the mixed fajitas with rice and beans) was average -- maybe a 3 out of 5. And if the food isn't great, at least good service can make up for it... but that wasn't the case here. Obvious favoritism, poor attention, and mediocre food. Definitely won't be coming back. read more

2/25/23 Grilled chicken burrito with boiled beans, rice, cilantro & onions. Hot sauce on the side. Also, shrimp ceviche ordered. The worker was very kind and said it would be ready in 15 minutes. I went in to get it. Very nice restaurant. Dim and low key. Mexican music playing. Greeted by a nice worker entering in and let him know my name and that an order was called in. It was ready. Just had lunch here with 13 of my dearest friends, all current or retired teachers or employees of Madison Elementary. Terrifi meal, and the waitress and bussers accomodated our large group very nicely. Our food was tasty and hot. I highly recommend this sweet, local Mexican Restaurant! read more

Had family photos and decided to go for lunch after , I called ahead to see if they could accommodate a large party coming in and they assured me they could. We came in 10 minutes later and sure enough we had our table set . Food and service is always great . The staff is always friendly and make you feel at home. I haven't been here for a long time, I can here today (09-29-2023), with my family, everything was great the chips were warm, fresh and very tasty. As well as the salsa, it had a very fresh flavor and a little spice kick to it. I had here some Tacos de Asada from the lunch menu, and all of it was sooo good. Plate comes with rice and beans and two tacos. Very fresh tasting as if it were cooked with new ingredients, not like other restaurants where it's all reused from day before. This was a very great environment, indoors and the waiter/server was great too gave us time to enjoy the food and asked how it was all in a timely manner. Had not been here in years and so I stopped in to grab some food to go hoping it was still as good as I remember. The staff taking my order were extremely friendly and the menu was very easy to navigate. I decided on a couple of items from their lunch specials. A Chile Verde burrito and a 2 taco plate. The wait time was very fast and they threw in chips and salsa which any more most restaurants do not do. The food was all very very good with every item overflowing with meat and cheese. I was very satisfied and will stop back in next time I am in that area of town. read more

It saddens me to the core to write this because I have been eating here for 20 years. I am a regular here and I eat here once or twice a month at least. The food has always been pretty good but lately the food I would deem unsafe. We always get takeout from here especially since the pandemic so the last time I got home and there was a dead fly on top of my husbands rice. I chalked it up to a one time thing tell myself these things happen and tried to let it go. Tonight about 3 weeks later I was 3/4 through my dinner and found a DEAD COCKROACH embedded in my rice as of it cooked with it. That's it's I am done. I can't stomach it anymore. read more

Used to love going here and after eating my meal I wanted to finish with the albondigas soup come to find out there was a fly in it. I grossed out immediately and threw up the rest of my food not knowing how many flies I had already eaten in that. When I called they told me the only way I could get a refund is to take back the food. The food that made me feel sick to the stomach and disgusting. I will not be back soon that's for sure . read more

I had the shrimp fajitas and they were great. We also ordered the chili verde enchiladas and they were a hit also. Beans and rice were good especially if you add some of their salsa. No substitutions are allowed. I cannot eat bean or rice and wanted extra veggies instead and they said no. I'm not sure but it seems like their flour tortillas are homemade. They didn't look or taste store bought. read more

Went to watch the Argentina vs Mexico game with some friends and we sat at the bar. While I was eating my chips and salsa I noticed a small roach on the countertop. Since I was just drinking the beer I didn't say anything but when I went to use the restroom I saw another roach chilling on the sink. Not sure if they have a roach problem or if it was just a one time thing but it's something they should look into. read more

By far the best albondigas I have ever had, so flavorful and the vegetables cooked to perfection. A meal in itself. My wife and I shared that and the Fuente de mariscos (the personal size) and we were stuffed. The food somehow made my Negra Modelo taste even better than usual. Service was fine. It's very sad how the staff can very dude! I came back because they didn't gave me my complete order. I told them what I was missing. The waiter Tony was very rude and told me directly " you told me it was a tostada and I when I spoke with him I had said I didn't receive my campechana and the tostada!" Honestly learn to handle costumer service the right way! He seem he was being be funny when he kept saying have a good day! I get it kill costumers with kindness but I paid almost $80. read more

First off, their albondiga soup is Deliscious. -place is clean, food is good, and service is prompt. No complaints about it. I always order the botana fiesta which consists of a little of each appetizer. There salsa is a bit spicy but very good. REVIEW UPDATE!!!!! Today I ordered pick up and found a COCKROACH on my food!!! Came back to El Bajio after over 10 years. Food still good! Coworkers used to love this place, but I don't live anywhere near it. Our service was prompt and friendly. Food was fresh and flavorful. You could see pieces of tomatillo in the tomatillo sauce. Carne Asada had lots of flavor. Salsa was smokin! They have signs on the tables that say basically after two baskets of chips and salsa, you gotta pay. No oroblema! They were delicious. We had a very nice meal. We will definitely be back very soon. In a town with several Mexican food options on every corner and then some, this place stands out for quality and price. Very delicious. read more

Talk about price gouging! I ordered a medium salsa (12 oz) and 2 medium bags of chips and they charged me over $20...$22.64 to be exact! That's outrageous! I could've ordered a meal for less and got chips and salsa for free!! I realize times are tough during the coronavirus but it doesn't make sense to overcharge (and lose) customers! We used to eat here but they're now too expensive. Also soup or salad is no longer included with your meal. read more

I am extremely dissatisfied after finding a dead roach in my pico de gallo. I have been a customer for years. I phoned the restaurant to report the incident but long story short the owner NEVER called me back, then when I went to get my refund I was told they never agreed to that. I was offered the value of my food for more food! Hello! Totally disregarded my complaint. The Chips are Casera style so very thick and crunchy. They accompany them with a small bowl of beans which is a nice touch. Their table salsa is mild so I can stomach it. I've tried the pollo ala plancha (grilled chicken plate) fajitas, sopes and Camerones al mojo de ajo ( garlic shrimp). The best for me was the asada sope. The rest were on the bland side. Beans and rice are okay. I think they just need to do better when seasoning and flavoring their dishes.

Fantastic find while in town for a sports tournament!…read more My family and I were in town for a sports tournament, looked up highly-recommended Mexican spots on Yelp, and Miguel's popped up. When we arrived, we discovered it is actually located inside a Mexican market, which is always a great sign for authentic food! We ordered three super burritos, drinks, and an order of chips and guacamole. We dined inside their nicely renovated dining area while we waited. The food was absolutely fantastic--the super burritos were massive and made with high-quality ingredients, and the guacamole was phenomenal. The staff and cooks were incredibly nice, attentive, and welcoming. We left completely full and made sure to thank them for the superb food. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town for a tournament. Thank you to the staff for a job well done!

We went about 6 PM so not sure if going to a different time would've made a difference. The service was pretty good. There was only two people working. The gal that helped us didn't know how to add my points to their point system and had some issues with the register, she was OK. My wife has the chicken tacos I had the asada. We both left Mexican food, and we both feel that we are very fair when it comes to the food value and the taste. As far as the taste, the meat tacos were a little rough and gum like, probably from sitting out too long. The chicken tacos actually fell apart as my wife was eating them, and the chicken was very, very overcooked so again, probably sitting too long inside the burner. They do not have the right ABC license so you can't drink alcohol and eat hair even though you're sitting inside a liquor store. Overall an okay place, there's so many selections of Mexican food in Clovis, this one was so so.
