It is a great place to bring small kids. It's priced very reasonable and everything is very clean and nice. They have lots of covered tables lots of chairs to sit on in the sun. Great place to hang out with your Friends and family. They let you bring your own coolers and food which is awesome they also have snacks and drinks which you can purchase there. They have an inside swimming area or you can swim outside. They also have life jackets there too, which I thought was pretty awesome. We ordered pizza and had it delivered there which was pretty cool! read more

This rec center is awesome in every way, except that they close at 6 PM on Saturdays. This confuses me because Saturday nights are one of the few stress free nights you have if you work during the week. Other than this one flaw, this rec center is incredible. read more

Fablous recreation center......I was suprised to see long pool lanes and was exited to try them for first time. Pool lanes are well maintained and the staff is very proficient enough to teach every type of students. I am waiting to take up few classes this summer. read more

Huge fitness center with a lot of offered classes. Class descriptions are not very specific and they don't let you try classes, or drop out if it doesn't turn out to be what you signed up for. Some times they just cancel a class if they don't have enough students. I have taken swimming and diving lessons here. Awesome indoor pools and adequate instructors. I currently go here for some excellent and inexpensive yoga classes. The floor in the yoga room is a little too hard. Other than that no complaints. The instructors even let you make up for a missed class on another day. read more

This is a great bang for the buck - but, because it's so cheap and family oriented, there are people that abuse the equipment, there are kids EVERYWHERE so expect to wait in line behind a 16 year ok'd for the treadmill. We joined Tom Muelenbeck recreation center last year and it has to be one of the best investments we've made. The annual fee is $165 and is worth every penny. There are two large indoor pools and one outdoor. There is everything you would expect from a traditional fitness center and more. If you are a resident of Plano and lead an active lifestyle, I highly recommend this facility. Stop in and take a tour, you'll be glad to did. read more

Great swim lessons for my 21 month old. He loves it! The facility is clean and the teachers are very good with the little ones. I love the pools they have outside as well. Lots of water activities for the kiddos. They can get busy during the summer months so do not go for a relaxing day at the pool. read more

Since new year resolutions are all about being More fit, More healthy, More fun, and More, you get the point, I was looking for a More exciting place to work out. I thought, why not try the recreational center my city has to offer and that is how I landed here. I have to say, this is a fantastic place for it too. I went for the swimming pool and it was spot on. There is a whole section just for laps and then there is the play pool where you can just goof around or teach swimming to your young ones. Both pools are clean and big in size and the lazy river is a joy to relax in. However I was really looking forward to the slide (the kid in me) but they were closed on the days their website said they would be operating, so I was a little disappointed there. Seems like the slides are only open on weekends. Other than that, there is a gym and a neatly placed track for running on the top. There is also a glimmering artwork that hangs on the ceiling, if you're into shiny things. The spacing and interior of the facility is done very well and for 6 dollars, what's not to like? So if you want to give it a shot, remember to bring your own lock for the locker and you'll be set to go. Enjoy! read more

Love it! Staff is friendly, and our visit was pleasant. Just wished it opened at 11 instead of 12 or indoor pool should have opened early instead. Rather, It was other way round. This was second time we went for playtime there..my kids love it and it was so much fun! We haven't done any lessons or taken any other classes there. we just go there because we like the water slides and play areas that are low key and not huge like those water parks! something nice and easy to leave kids on their own. We'll go again to give it a 5 star! read more

Hah! These reviews show that people will complain about anything from their own horrible parking habits to the fact that their son cannot swim by a second lesson! Staff could smile more, but they don't have to. They are friendly enough and work a lot. The equipment is awesome. Maybe I failed to mention that this place is $15 a month! No contracts! What are you complaining for!? If you knock your bumper off parking, go get it fixed. Get driving lessons too. If you don't like the price of swimming lessons, teach your kid! It's fun! World class facility. Got my ping pong on Sunday afternoons. I wish I lived closer to it so I could just get the annual membership.

Great place for the price. But.....Since the Oak Point Rec Center is closed for renovations, it seem as if all the swim teams that practiced there are now practicing here. The wetcats get most of the pool at 5:30am so it would be nice if they didn't show up early and crowd out those of us who only get 30 minutes. read more

Ok, so I used to love this place, I would go to play a volleyball game with my friends or go on a swim. But, recently when I go to run the track or work out there are always so many kids in the lounge area making a ruckus-the basketball courts are always full even when I wait for one or two hours-because the teenagers do not move and staff is sometimes arrogant. Three stars because the commotion isn't all TMC's fault but the atmosphere at Carpenter is much more peaceful. read more

The facility is top rate (cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights, bball court, full pool inside and out, and indoor track) but they charge you for some services that are typically free with your membership at a regular gym (spin classes, dance/exercise classes, swim classes), many of the members appear to not be familiar with normal gym etiquette such as taking turns on a piece of equipment and the staff only opens the exercise room for a paid exercise class --- so if you do calisthenics on your own you need to squeeze them in where you find space. Most people can make this work and the cost is what brought me here -- $130 a year per adult. But if you start paying $50 a month for an exercise class you should join a regular gym read more

My kids go there for preschool swim lessons. These lessons used to be great. There used to be a very good swim instructor they had - his name was Bob. He's not with them anymore. Now these young instructors that they have are really not nearly as experienced as Bob. Does anyone know Bob or have his number so we can see where he takes swim lessons now so we can go there? read more

So, my kid did have fun here. However: the staff is pretty rude, to both parents AND kids, and seems like they don't really enjoy their job. The only one who was genuinely nice was the 'Head Lifeguard,' and I'm not sure of his name. He was very kind to me and my son both. The other staff seem to be miserable at work. There was one lifeguard working in the kids splash pad area who was yelling at the kids to get off some part of it. (Why put it in the kids area if they're not meant to be on it??) There are also lots of rules - no floated unless approved by the coast guard, no goggles with nose piece, no getting on the center water fountain in the kids pool, no touching the pole holding the volleyball net up - they really look for any little thing. Also, my son was being allowed to go down the slides all afternoon, then all of a sudden (after waiting in the long line, of course) he is told to go to the front desk to be measured, even though they have a measuring stick up at the top of the slide. If you have any kind of choice, I'd say find another pool facility where the staff is a little more kind. read more

Beautiful facility however, beware of lack of security! Took my Grandchild to splash pad and had our sandals stolen. Also caught a 15 year old trying to steal our beach bag. If you go be sure to go to main entrance get a lock and lock up EVERYTHING in locker room before going out. read more

Majoring on the Minors and Minoring on the Majors Twice the swim supervisor of the life guards has chosen to hassle an handicapped senior citizen about using a kickboard to rest her tennis elbow protecting her neck from being strained rather than keep swimmers safe. In the first incident after arguing with her about the use of the kickboard the life guard left the post and the lady and her friend were totally unsupervised for more than 45 minutes while the lifeguards partied in the break room. In the second incident there was a 4 year old girl who was in the indoor leisure pool with the current without any parent supervision. The life guard and supervisors were so concerned about the kickboard that they did not even notice the young girl being there for more than 10 minutes without the parent. The senior citizen's friend had to point it out to the life guard before anything was done. This minor problem was made into a major incident while the major problem was ignored. In five yeas of swimming at the same time and in the same place, the rule that no one can have a kickboard during specific hours has never been enforced with this handicapped senior citizen until this particular supervisor began working there. She and her boss insisted it was a saftety hazard while at the same time ignoring the real hazard of an unaccompanied child. The discussion escalated and the rules were then extended to say she could not even exercise with her own equipment that she has always used. read more

For the price you cannot beat the Meuhlenbeck Center. Great for the adults and kids. It gets a little crowded in the weight area during peak times, so pick you times carefully. The cardio gear seems to be always available. The pools are awesome and a great time for the kids especially during the winter. Your annual fee for a family of 4 will be about 1/4 of a place like Lifetime. Full Disclosure: I can walk to it, so that is a HUGE bonus for me. read more

This is a great facility. Friendly staff, very clean, a lot of treadmills and weight equipment. I like their classes for adults and kids. For kids, they have a lot of piano classes, just wish it was easier to sign up for the same teacher course to course. However, those classes (and swimming) are so popular that you have to sign up as soon as registration opens up. I like the spin class and Zumba, both are fun. The outdoor pools in the summer are a blast for the kids, and they even have a concession stand. read more

I have experienced this recreation center as a customer and also as an employee. I use the gym regularly when I am home from college. There is an abundance of equipment that is kept in pristine condition and is very organized. The staff is very personable and willing to help with anything you may need. They make it a point to make you feel welcome from checking you in at the front desk with a greeting and a smile to assisting you with machines or general facility needs. You really get your money's worth with a membership, which gives you full access to everything the center offers. This includes the fully-equipped gym, an indoor track, lockers for storage, a stationary bike room for classes, an open room for personal workouts and classes, ping-pong tables, 3 swimming pools (1 for laps, 1 for swim lessons and recreation, and 1 with a water playground for children), 3 basketball courts, and men's and women's locker rooms (both with showers). If you want, you can even pay for a private trainer who is employed by the center. These trainers are positive, extremely effective, and definitely worth the time and money if you're looking for a great workout. I highly recommend Leanne Hill, specifically! I also worked here one summer as a swim instructor for preschoolers. As a staff-member, I was taught to always be attentive and positive, as I mentioned the personnel is at all times. From working in this position, I really saw how wonderful the place is for families and anyone who appreciates good quality facilities. Everything is kept very clean, and the atmosphere is encouraging and fun. I really enjoy my time here. read more

As I was walking towards the basketball court, a boy who looked like he was in middle school burped in front of me and began making kissing faces at me while I was walking by him. A few seconds later, I told him to stop and never do that again to anybody especially to someone that he doesn't even know when his older brother who looked 15, asked me "What he do?" I told him that he burped in front of me and began making kissing faces as I was walking by him. I also told him to talk to him about it. After that he kept saying "Go away and get of here!" So I went and reported the incident to one of the male employees at the front desk and I told him about how uncomfortable the boy had me feel. He later talks to the two about what happened and the employee later asked me if I threatened them by I saying I'm going to slap them. I said, "No, I would never say something like that to them and that I told his older brother to talk to him about it. You can check the cameras." He said, "Of course there are cameras." He also told me, "To not be around the basketball court for now." As I was walking upstairs to go lift weights, I saw the 2 boys run to the front desk and talk to him while he was trying to view the incident on the computer. Minutes later, the male employee was walking around the center looking for me when I walked up to him as I was watching him. He told me that he was going to suspend me. I said, "What! Why?" He asked me what I think he should do about it and tells me to follow him downstairs. He asked me "Again, tell me what happened?" I told him the exact same story, I have no right to talk to them like that, and that they are brothers so they will say the exact same thing. He said, "Okay, I won't suspend you but you're done for the day and you have to go home." So I call the police about it and they arrive in about 15 minutes. I talked to the officer about the incident and how I felt the male employee handled it. The 2 had left when police arrived and afterwards, the officers were talking to the manager for about 20 minutes. This place has the worst management. Whenever the employees aren't looking around, incidents occur. read more
