I have been to many diners and this was really just a random stop because everyone was hungry. It was pretty packed but it was Sunday. We were seated right away and were given menus. This was the first time that I have been to a diner that I had to ask for a breakfast menu. We ordered their body builder omelet, burger, big breakfast with the works and a BLT. The food came out pretty quickly and everyone enjoyed their food.

If you're looking for your prototypical diner, you've found it here at Tom Sawyer Diner. You won't find anything fancy or out of the ordinary, but what you will find are your everyday diner favorites, including all day breakfast. We dropped in on a random (but beautiful) Thursday late morning at around 11:20am. There were a few customers inside, as expected, whom were mostly elderly and were probably regulars. I was in the mood for a late breakfast, so I ordered the Italian Omelette with Home Fries and Toast, while my better half got the Aloha Burger and upgraded her fries to the Disco Fries. Food was OK and pretty average, which isn't a bad thing at all. Can't say it was any different than any other diner I've been to (UNLESS it's Tops Diner). The omelette was good, consisted of 3 eggs, pieces of sausage, cheese and marinara on top. I tried it because it stated that it was "NEW" on the menu, but it could have been there for months or even years. My wife's Aloha Burger WAS verrrry, verrrry juicy though. Every time she took a bite, it was dripping beef "juices" - even though it seemed to be cooked medium well instead of the medium she requested. The Disco Fries could have used more gravy, but was still solid. Service was quick and good as the waitress came by to check on us a few times. Like I said, this diner is not going to stand out much from other diners, but it's not a bad thing if you're just looking for some good ol' diner food.

My husband and I tried Tom Sawyer Diner for the first time last week. We stopped in after work for dinner. There were a good number of diners seated at the booths for the work week. The host and our waiter were very friendly. I ordered a blue cheese burger that comes with fries, pickles, and coleslaw. I was a fan. It's the type of burger that you have to cut because it's so tall; there's a steak knife holding it together. My husband got a veggie panini; he said it was ok. He was more of a fan of the spinach and artichoke dip that we ordered as an app to share. We both agreed that we liked the vibe inside of Tom Sawyer. It feels like a real diner - it's warm and cozy. When you walk in, you'll see Valentine's decorations already up. Also, the framed pictures leaning into the whole Tom Saywer theme were cute. We like the place and we'll most likely return in the future for a casual meal. So recommended!

I saw some of the recent reviews and was a little apprehensive about coming here, but my experience seem to be different than the rest. Here are some of the positives: The waiter was very helpful and available for all of our needs. The food came out very quick and was delicious. I ordered a honey Dijon wrap and made some changes. All of my requests were honored. The menu is pretty typical of what you would see in a diner. There are plenty of good selections, and although the prices are a tad bit high, that seems to be the going rate for diners these days. And some of the negatives: Parking is very limited. We came on a Friday afternoon and there were no spots available. I was able to create my own by parking against the building. And if the lot is full, there's no street parking. The bathroom was clean, but did not have any paper towels only an air blower that isn't very powerful. When I walked out, I needed napkins to dry my hands. Overall, the experience was mostly good. If I was in the area, I would likely come here again.

this is a very nice diner, and I recommend coming here. The food is good, nice prices, menu variety is plentiful, and the food comes out quickly. The staff, especially the waitress and manager are nice, and there's a lot of parking

So disappointed in this diner! It used to be good but now that we have a much larger audience with the new hospital going in we seemed to have taken the cheap way out and hired chefs that don't love what they do. I ordered ranchero breakfast wrap ...my favorite! Unfortunately I got crunchy eggshells, onion skins, and onion core mixed in with my omelette which turned my stomach , since you can't really chew that up. I ate the shells picked out the onion skins and core and ate what I could. My bf had a long black hair on top of his fruit cup dish and that was the icing on the cake . Otherwise the ambiance is very nice and the service is excellent but I will never eat here again

Overpriced, limited menu, noisy. Bring back the original Tom Sawyer! Meanwhile, lunch specials at Suburban Diner are my preference.

With over 180 wing flavors to choose from, the only problem you will have is deciding because you will want to explore this seemingly never ending list. These are a couple of the wings I explored: Peanut Butter & Jelly Wings: These wings were smothered in creamy peanut butter with a heaping mound of jelly. At first I was reluctant to explore this unusual combination, but as soon as I gave it a try, it was love at first bite. Feel free to smear or dip; the choice is yours. S'mores Wings: This is another unique, but unbelievably savory combination. These dessert style wings were smothered in marshmallow cream, drizzled with chocolate syrup, and sprinkled with crushed pieces of graham crackers. It was a sight for sore eyes. If you need additional chocolate sauce don't be afraid to ask for "s'more." And make sure you request "s'more" napkins because you will certainly need them! In addition to the wings, I also explored one of the main courses. Blue 42 Burger: Named after the restaurant, this burger is topped with mozzarella sticks, blue cheese crumble and bacon. The Blue 42 char on top of the bun has a nice decorative touch. If you are a fan of the Green Bay Packers, you have come to the right spot. The interior is decorated with Packers memorabilia, which even includes wall art on the ceiling. All fans are still welcome even if you aren't an aficionado of the Packers. The restaurant staff also supports New Jersey's finest, New Jersey's bravest, the ambulance corp, and the armed forces. I truly enjoyed dining at this local bar and I see why their wings are high profile. #blue42 #wingman #wingmanblue42 #blue42elmwoodpark #blue42burger #smoreswings #smores #peanutbutterandjelly #peanutbutterandjellywings #pbj #pbjwings #elmwoodparknj #GreenBayPackersFans #njfinest #njbravest #AmbulanceCorp #armedforces

It feels rooted in the same philosophy that says a man buys three suits and somehow discovers endless outfits within them. But is there anything wrong with just three good suits? Do all possible combinations truly have value? At what point does variety become a little ridiculous? That said, the bones -- so to speak -- are very good. The wings are fried well, generously sauced, and satisfying in whatever flavor palette you ultimately settle on. Just do not expect the decision-making process to come easily.

Now I have a thing when people say "it's just next door" or "it's right down the street." What did George Dubya say? Fool me once and it's shame on you, fool me twice and the shame is mine for getting us into a war based on lies and greed?" Yeah something like that. Anyways, I typically don't believe when people say something is close so whenever I visit her we just order in delivery rather than motivate (ie put on a bra) and go out. But dang it this is literally. Right. Next. Door. As in I can sit on the deck outside of the restaurant and look in her living room. Smh. I say all that to say IVE BEEN MISSING OUT!! Her bday was this weekend so she booked a large table for family and friends. I was relieved to see they had valet. Parking is atrocious in this development so to only pay $10 to be 10 feet from the door was awesome. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff know her well and treated her as a valued guest. Here's the rundown: We went for BRUNCH. They have a prix fixe for $41 of most of the brunch items and it includes 2 Bellini, 2 mimosas, or 2 Bloody Marys. Good right? Welp what you don't know is that their cocktail menu is incredible so to heck with the prix fixe. We got mimosas at home!! Between the 10 of us we got cocktails, appetizers, entrees, desserts, coffee. Highlights: -Service was spectacular. Wesley was On It! By the time we finished eating there was another party of 10+ seated right behind us that he was servicing. I hope he enjoys the reward$ of his hard work! Make it rain on em Wesley! -Fat friendly seating. No arms, solid chairs, comfortable cushions. We were there for 4 hours and my booty was never sore. -Food. We tore it up and it was all delicious. My half of the table had the farm house breakfast sando, the fried chicken sando, French omelette, huevo rancheros. We shared the crab hush puppies, wings, calamari, goat cheese salad, and blueberry pancakes. I was nosey and saw that some of my other table mates ordered the skirt steak and eggs and the short rib. -Drinks. I know my husband loves mango so I suggested he get the smoked mango drink. I didn't know it came with theatrics. Dinner and a show?! Btw by the time our table was done almost everyone had ordered one. Lychee martini, Paloma, old fashioned, midnight espresso. Also all very good! -The View. Our party was too large to sit outside but we did sit right at the floor to ceiling windows. In between birthday wishes and food comas we watched the boats, jet skis, and undulating waves of the Hudson. Previous posters are correct - the place is pricey. But high key the people who live in that area are already paying a premium for everything else sooooo. Now, I DONT live in that area lmao so this will be a rarer treat for me. But I was happy to celebrate my cousin's birthday in a place that she loves. Awesome experience - I look forward to returning! 10/10 would put on a bra for this and walk downstairs lol

The restaurant is very pretty overall, though the interior is quite dim, making it difficult to read the menu without additional light. The tables were also placed fairly close together. Our server was polite and welcoming throughout the evening. We started with the Korean fried chicken and tuna tataki. The chicken was moist and coated in a sweet and spicy sauce. The tuna tataki was flavorful; however, the taro chips were very thin and tended to break easily when holding the tuna. For our main courses, we ordered the Icelandic cod, rigatoni, Freebird chicken, and a side of whipped potatoes. Dessert was the hazelnut chocolate crunch, which was a nice way to end the meal. Overall, the food was enjoyable. That said, the pricing felt more in line with a fine dining experience, while the atmosphere and service were closer to an upscale casual restaurant. Some small details, such as the whipped potatoes being served without a serving spoon, stood out. While minor, these details can make a difference, especially at this price point.

The hospitality was incredible. We went there for my birthday. All the staff knew it was my birthday and they also knew that I was eight months pregnant and wanted to make sure that I was comfortable. The food was exceptional. The wait staff was so nice and provided recommendations while not pushing any one dish. We got the focaccia, softshell crab, Peking duck and chicken liver for appetizers. The softshell crab was the best I've ever had, and I would come back to this restaurant for this alone. The Peking duck was juicy and tender with the most incredible slaw type salad underneath it. The focaccia with the butter was also phenomenal, the owner actually brought it out to us and we had a nice conversation with him and you can tell he just poured his heart and soul into this restaurant. The focaccia is definitely not an appetizer to be overlooked just because it is bread. While I couldn't have any of the chicken liver mousse, it looked stunning, and my husband said that it was incredible and so light and fluffy, and it was a massive portion. I look forward to when we come back when I'm not pregnant and I can eat it. For dinner I got the Arctic char, and my husband got the pork. The Arctic char was unbelievable. It was piping hot and literally just melted in my mouth with each bite and the side that came with it was a mix of asparagus, mushrooms, farro and I don't know what else, but it was fantastic if I could have that side on its own as well, I would order more. My husband's pork was crispy and delicious with another incredible slaw topping, and it was so massive he has to take home like a third of it for dessert. We had the lemon meringue tart for dessert, which was also incredible and so refreshing for a dessert. All of the food was outrageously fresh and just outstanding. This restaurant is our new favorite place and on the way out we even made a reservation for three weeks from now to come back. This is probably the best restaurant that I've eaten at in Ridgewood hands down and I'm so glad that they are in the area. The restaurant adds a new vibe with food that is so phenomenal to match.
