Food good Service has continued to decline. We got seated, they took our order and we waited for over an hour and half for our food. Everyone eating and come in after our party. Usually when a restaurant loses your order they are apologetic and may discount your order. Nah, Tom Yum don't do that. They charge full price. We have had Thai from pretty much everywhere and Tom Yum is, without a doubt the worst ever. Wings of Angle were dry to the point of crumbly and just as tasteless. Won Ton soup had almost no soup and I'm not sure the person who made it has ever actually seen a Won Ton in person. On the plus side, there was a nice long hair right on top to kind of set the mood. Pad Thai. Oh. The Pad Thai. Two pieces of chicken, three pieces of gray steamed beef, and zero pork. Noodles had pretty much congeled into one solid mass, so it was super convenient to pull out of the box. I ordered the spiciest they had and I would not have hesitated to feed it to my little grandson or a small dog. Bland does not cover it. However, the piece de resistance, is the Pepper Steak. Imagine some overcooked veggies in a bowl. Then take the toughest, cheapest piece of shoe leather, call it a steak, and toss the entire thing in uncut. This place replaced one of my lunch spots, an old Rubio's restaurant. It is located next to one of the sushi places I hit every week, Fresh Wasabi, so I was excited when I saw this Thai place make its way in. I didn't eat here, but I took food to go on a lunch break. There's a rating scale ranging from mild to medium to spicy and Thai spicy. I'm not used to seeing the actual red chili flakes, but with both dishes I ordered, it looked like red confetti sprinkled over everything. Just interesting observation though - not a deal maker or breaker for that matter. Like I said, the sprinkled red chili flakes made food look like confetti-inspired fun, perhaps? Tom Ka soup with added shrimp - very good. I ordered this medium and the sweetness of the coconut milk really complimented the spiciness of the soup. However, the medium is not as spicy as the medium at one of my other favorite Thai places, Satara. The shrimp was cooked well - I often worry that places overcook shrimp to the point of chewy-ness, but Tom Yum's shrimp was done still tender yet cooked. Yellow curry with chicken. - Cooked really well. The sauce is thinner but very close to the thickness I look for in my curries. I like my curry sauces on the extra thick, rich side. (Might as go "all out" when going unhealthy, right?) The taste was very enjoyable and flavorful. I was put on hold for what seemed like 10 minutes listening to their background noise when ordering over the phone. It was around lunch time though, so I understand they were extra busy. I worried for them thinking, what if they put other people on hold this long too? I almost hung up and was going to try again another time when the girl finally picked up and was able to take my order. That was my only minor gripe. Otherwise, I definitely will return here. I love Thai food, and I'm glad that this location is so convenient to get to in Surprise. read more

Very good Thai food! A nice clean little place with indoor and covered outdoor seating. I had Chicken Satay which is marinated strips of chicken grill on a stick. Very good! The sauces were amazing too, Peanut Sauce and I think a lovely Sweet & Sour Sauce. I'll be coming back soon! read more

I have been ordering take out for years from Tom Yum, and it was always excellent. This past Sunday was not. I had a big order too. When I picked it up, the restaurant was empty (12:30pm) so no excuse. The food this time was very bland and dry. It tasted like it was left over from the day before. The orange chicken was so dry and hard. The drunken noodles were tasteless and greasy. The appetizer, combo platter, was also dry and tasteless. These are just a few of my ordered items. Nothing stood out as delicious. Not sure if it changed management, but I won't be back here for quite some time. read more

After going to one place, walked in they told me they were closed. Yelp hours had them open for another hour. Called another place and he told me they decided to "close early". Found this gem. I called to make sure they were open here...Walked in sat right down, nice quiet ambiance. Ordered some Hot Tea, & Chicken Panang Curry. Everything came out quickly. Was tasty. Kind service. Absolutely love love love this place. The Tom Kha is insanely good but my favorite is the Larb & Panang Curry, both things I have ordered many times across the country and I'd put this place in my top 5 for both. The curry is perfection, I'll be coming back for that regularly. The pork larb is so well balanced I could eat that any day of the week. The staff is so sweet and they really work so hard, they deserve all the praise for sure. They've gained a new regular. read more

Best Thai in town. Authentic, all the staples and then some. Keep in mind not as spicy as most Thai places so mild basically means no spice.

Tom Yum is our favorite Thai restaurant in the Phoenix area. We have visited Thailand many many times and lived in the area so we know what good Thai food tastes like. There are different creations of spiciness which we appreciate. I usually end up with my favorite chicken pad Thai and my spouse usually gets his favorite yellow curry. read more

Tom Yum is favorite choice we went crave Thai in Surprise. We've been going for years and it has never disappointed. Heck they were even open on Christmas and we had our Christmas dinner there one year. The selections are always good but we've narrowed in on some items each time we visit. I like their Yellow Curry and she likes Drunken Noodles. Both are savory and full of comforting flavors. I usually get mine with BBQ pork and she asks for Chicken. They always ask for spice level and we've had hot, medium, and mild. Last time I had mild and I would definitely go medium next time. The portions are ample and can easily be shared. We had expected to have some to take home but not this time. So so good! Go check it out. Hours are broad and the food is great. read more

My husband's Penang curry with chicken was good, medium hot was just right and the peppers and broccoli was not as ver cooked. However, my green papaya salad was not good. Veggies were on the limp side and the dressing was not flavorful at all. The worst part was they had just sprinkled way too much red chilies on it. Too hot for medium heat level. We dug past the top and got some without the red chilies and it was tolerable. Our server did an okay job of remembering us. Literally has happened the last 4 times I have ordered out there, and been very specific. Had to go back each time to get the corrected meal. We tried out this spot and let me tell you they did not disappoint! Everything was so fresh and tasted amazing. The staff is so friendly with the amount of business they can use a few more servers though. They have partitions between the booths to make you feel a little safer dining in. However, they have a huge patio just didn't utilize it because of the rain. They allow you to choose your spice level on all their dishes and the flavors are so complex and authentic. My husband and I first visited Tom Yum when most restaurants were take out only. We enjoyed our take out! We recently revisited Tom Yum for a birthday lunch. Again, not disappointed! We started with the appetizer beef satay, which had 4 juicy skewers and came with a fresh peanut sauce. Since we were celebrating, we went to the Chef's Specials section of the menu. I had "Fish Two Ocean" and my husband had "Massaman Stewed Beef." We both ordered medium spicy. We both give 5 stars for portion size/price ratio; excellent medium spice flavor (not spicy hot or overpowering); chief execution; service, and freshness. read more

One of Surprise's best Thai places. Staff are well-educated with vegan food, and are friendly and SO hospitable. They put shrimp in my order accidentally and I got all the way home before realizing. I called them and someone DROVE TO MY HOUSE to drop off the new item, free of charge. The food: cannot say enough. If you like spicy, order the Thai hot. I can handle spicy, and even I was tearing up. Fresh veggies, flavorful, and an amazing variety on the menu to choose from. I haven't dined in because I'm a hermit but I can only imagine it would make the experience even better! read more

Still a great place. When family members were visiting recently with their large Collie, we were welcomed on the patio that is shaded with a cool breeze. Staff was very accommodating and brought the dog a bowl of water. Good variety of food and you can request specific "hotness" of spice for most menu items. We had pad Thai, drunken fried rice and spicy eggplant. Very good! It was a lot of food so we took it home for dinner the next day. I have used Tom Yum in Surprise for a few years now, and will now be looking elsewhere. The food used to be very good, but for the past few months it's hit or miss. The last 3 times I used DoorDash to order yellow curry chicken, medium spicy, it has been the BLANDEST curry ever. I have just sucked it up and ate it, but today was the last straw. I called and asked them to remake my order correctly. And they said they couldn't unless I brought my order back. My car is currently in the shop so it's not possible. The lady I talked to said she would call her supervisor, took my address and phone, and would call back. 45 minutes later I called them again and she said she had talked to the manager, and they couldn't do anything unless I brought the food in!!!! I said I wanted a refund, and she said they couldn't do that. And had never bothered to call me back. She said they messed up my order with someone who was dining in and she was sorry, but the manager said they wouldn't fix the problem unless I brought in the food. What the heck! They took my money so they can refund it. I had a neighbor bring in my order and their solution was to remake it, give me my own spice containers, and not give me the extra rice I was charged for, so my order was still not correct. The worst customer service EVER especially since they were in the wrong, and still didn't make the order right, and should have refunded my delivery fee, charge for extra rice and the tip to the driver since I had to send someone else in. read more

I liked this place! I was visiting on a trip and was craving some thai food. I think this place is a good option. The tom yum super was realllly good and spicy. It definitely opened my nose LOL. However, the papaya salad was subpar. It tasted too "clean" like it was not seasoned well and literally just tasted like raw veggies. We also got the panaang (spell check?) curry. Now that was super bommmmb. I probably ate half of it! Then I had the thai tea togo, which was probably one of the best thai teas I have had. You could totally taste the tea in it. This place is corner of grand and bell, in same area near Walmart. The service was friendly and made us feel welcomed. The summer rolls were tasty, I should have asked for more sauce since there was very little, but the peanut sauce was delicious. I had chicken pad thai, which was very good. My honey had orange chicken, it was lightly battered and you could taste that they used real juice from oranges to make the sauce. I'm giving 4 stars since the floor was a bit dirty (sat@5pm, so makes sense)and the dipping sauces for summer rolls was so little (2tbsp), which made me chuckle, should be more than doubled. I called at 903 p.m. (hours posted say open 'till 10 p.m.) and they told me they don't take orders after 9:00 p.m. because they need to clean. If you close at 10:00 p.m. you clean after 10:00 p.m. if you're cleaning and not taking orders after 9:00 p.m. then you close at 9:00 p.m. and need to update your hours accordingly both online and on your door. I'm so sick of this crap, if you say you're open till 10:00 that means you take orders till 10:00. If you don't want to be open till 10:00 then don't tell everyone you're open till 10:00! read more
