Luckily we got seat straight away. We had one salad, one veg pizza and one sushi ordered and fist 2 item came pretty soon. We really liked both salad and pizza. Vegetables felt so fresh and taste was amazing. Sushi came after a while and it was little fancy as it was lit on the table to cook inside food. Taste was good but slightly burnt feeling because of fire. I will try other one next time. Interior is nice and have lot of space. We were seated on covered patio and next to us was a small stream flowing, that was nice touch. Enough of parking is available outside and it's free.

The weather had me on edge leading up to the event, but Salt and Rind never missed a single beat. The food was absolutely incredible, the drinks were top tier, and the service was so far above and beyond that guests were coming up to me all night to rave about it. As a bride, there is nothing more meaningful than hearing that -- it meant the world. What struck me most was how seamlessly everything flowed. They operated like a perfectly orchestrated symphony, and because of their professionalism, warmth, and dedication, my dream day came to life exactly as I had always imagined it. Located in the Courtyard (Marriott) Hotel, only a stone's throw from Lake Champlain and close to the center of Burlington, VT, the restaurant sits just off the lobby. I made a dinner reservation and we was seated by the window with a view of the park with the lake beyond. Off to a good start. My Dirty Martini was spot-on. The perfect balance of Tito's and brine. Only missing the 'bleu' cheese olives. I often order a second appetizer as my entree. My starter was carpaccio that was outstanding. The microgreens were a nice touch. The mussels (appetizer) that I chose for my main course were small in size but ample in portion and were the perfect choice for me. My husband chose the cheese platter for his starter. It was disappointing. Two slices of bleu cheese. Should have been three different ones for $15. And no VT cheddar? Not much imagination here. His Steak Frites was OK; the quality of the beef could have been better. We shared the spinach watermelon salad which was fresh and delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. Overall, we liked this restaurant and will return.

The menu offers a wide variety of seafood options and of course offers a well rounded drinks list. The night we dined there I wasn't sure how hungry I was and after almost a week of travel I wanted to get my eating on a healthier track. I ordered the Farmer's Salad and a bowl of clam chowder. The salad was nothing special but it did scratch my eat healthier itch. The chowder was good. It had something different from most white chowders although I couldn't put my finger on what made it different. If I had to guess I'd say they put a lot of oregano in it. I ended up ordering peel n eat shrimp too. It was exactly what you'd expect although they must have boiled the shrimp just for this order because they arrived hot, making it somewhat difficult to peel. My husband enjoyed his clambake and hard cider. To finish we shared the banana pudding sundae which was something different but delicious. If you are staying at or near the Hilton Lake Champlain the Original Skiff is a good meal option or happy hour choice. The evening we were there they had live music to entertain.

Sitting outside gave us a gorgeous view of the waterfront, and the round tables with deck chairs were comfortable and perfect for letting everyone in our party talk to each other. I shared the lobster roll and fish and chips, and both were prepared well and came with a generous amount of french fries. The lobster roll was marked as market price ($34 when we went) and was about 3oz of lobster meat. It wasn't the largest restaurant markup I've seen, but it also wasn't a great deal. The fish and chips was a fish filet covered in bread crumbs instead of the usual thick batter. It felt similar to fish sticks was a good balance of tender on the inside and seasoned on the outside. I would come again for the lovely views and to try their other menu items. A few members of our party got tacos which looked good.

Part of our reason for a return visit was the outstanding service provided to us by Molly. We felt double spoiled by having her be our server for dinner. The setting was delightful. Both times we got a great table by the window with fabulous views of the harbor and Lake Champlain. The vibe is relaxed, warm, and charming. No frills. The focus is on the food and the view. The food was really good. For lunch we shared a lobster roll. Now I know that there is a lot of controversy on what makes an "authentic" lobster roll. My take on having them in just about every state from Maine to Florida and and few tasty ones in my inland location. This one tasted good to me - lots of lobster, not too much mayo, fresh soft bun and some nice romaine for some crunch. They made me a lovely Cranberry Mule mocktail to sip on during the meal. For dinner my husband had the Crab Cake and I had the Shrimp Scampi. Both were quite good and the fish tasted fresh. We finished off with a decadent Key Lime Pie. Next time we are in the Burlington area, this will definitely be worth a return visit.

Called and the woman last week asked which lobster roll I wanted as service workers do. They're trained in operations, and options, the customer isn't. The woman today admitted that when you click the lobster roll icon it shows an option and she chose not to ask just assume. Especially when ordering over the phone, before last week I haven't gotten an order for some number of months so I didn't remember there was even an option until I open my order and it's wrong. Acting like the customer is the issue after just assuming every customer wants mayo is insane. when she saw the options buttons- and thought well because we "see thousands of people a week and that's what most want" what kind of business model is that? the customer is not trained or paid to know. They argued around and around about that. Funny enough after looking online most people (New Englanders) seem to like hot and buttered more. Guess it was just the egotistical ladies. I was busy in the middle of something placing the order I always do I felt like something was missing but couldn't think of what. Again ordered last week and the young worker asked butter or mayo. I ordered 3 lobster rolls and a sm wedge. Get home and it's mayo. Nothing I will eat. I call and explain and they continue arguing we see thousands of people a week and most people want mayo. Raised their voices and then hung up on me. I called back and talked to someone else who said she wasn't the same person but sounded the same and continues to argue the same thing and hang up on me again. I looked forward to today, it was alright last week but I ordered no pickle this time because it tasted like bleach and couldn't even swallow it tasted like chemical so heavy. Even after that I still went back today because the buttered lobster roll was good. I asked for a refund and the woman said "I'll do it this time but" no but. It was the businesses mess up and then to continue repeating that and raising their voice. I've been a returning customer and mentioned return revenue and they got even more upset. They argue it's the young generation but the younger ones did her job correctly. 2 Middle Aged women were highly unprofessional after already messing up. Took a $25 uber originally told them that when they said well you can come back then was told that again. I kept redirecting them and saying at this point I just want a refund I don't want to hear the same argument again. And I was told "we don't want to hear what you're saying either" I just called back and said I would be disputing the charge (FOR THE FOOD I CANT EAT AND HAD TO DEAL WITH BEING TREATED THAT WAY), Also making a complaint to the Better business bureau. And posting this review. The woman kept acting like she couldn't hear me and at the end when I said you can act like you don't hear but just understand these things are happening she said ok. Insane. These folks need a vacation and more training. Less bleach taste in the pickles, and more asking which option the individual wants and is going to pay for. Like the younger worker did last week when I ordered. Asked for the owners number after all that because their employees need more training and someone should handle it properly even though I've already taken steps now. Because, I was told I spoke with the owner. Another lie and psy-op I'm sure. This will all be in the office of professional regulation notes and better business bureau reports.

While we waited for our drinks to arrive, we all perused the menu for last minute additions and there was Jeff asking to take our appetizer and food order. Maybe he was trying to be efficient but really, it was just rushed. Didn't see him for a longer than usual wait and then drinks, soups and salads came altogether and our 'chef' arrived and started setting up. Jeff returned and when we asked a question of him, his answer was curt (rude really) like he expected us to know the answer. He never returned to fill up empty water glasses, ask for drink refills etc. This was supposed to be a celebratory night, several birthdays in our party of 6. Getting him to show up and be helpful without attitude was like pulling teeth and his customer service skills were lacking and felt like he was doing us a favor waiting on us. The food was mediocre at best. Our hibachi orders comprised of upcharged Filets with seafood. And while I don't mind paying a premium, I should get the premium food to go along with that price, sadly all of the steaks were overcooked and the seafood was dry and rubbery, tough to chew! Two of the guests actually spit out the seafood as inedible. The steaks were ordered either rare or medium and sadly, everyone got well-done. The seafood was left on the cooktop far too long as well! Overall, the experience lacked the enthusiasm of someone happy that we were there paying bills. At $450 I expected much more. I've had better meals here, this was not one of them! Not really interested in returning any time soon.
