This is the best clam shack I have gone to in my life. 100 out of 10. WAY better than Iggy's. I got a lobster roll, clam cakes, and clam strips. They all need lemon juice and the lobster roll needed some salt, but they provided both. With lemon and salt, everything was 50/10 the first time (where I didn't get clam strips) and even better the next. Even my dad, who hates lobster rolls, loved this one. OK.... This place looks like a roadside shack. Hidden within is an exceptional restaurant. Today I tried the lobster salad sandwich. On a perfectly toasted butter roll was expertly prepared lobster salad. Just a little bit of meat, this was filled with lobster me. And it was delicious. I also tried the white chowder. I prefer a little thicker, but it was filled with fresh potatoes and clams and was delicious. Complemented by some clam cakes it made a delicious appetizer. In fact it could have been a meal. My son at the children's chicken nuggets. These were no nuggets, these were large chicken tenders expertly breaded and lightly fried. The chicken was moist and delicious. looking at the menu other things I would like to try including steamers fried clams fish and chips and lobsters in the rough. Even fish tacos on the menu. . Fresh yummy seafood! Their clam cakes and chowder have more clams than I've seen in any others I've had. We're definitely coming back!

Whenever we visit RI, there are two things we have to have before retuning home. First is Olneyville wieners, at the original location only. Second is chowder and clam cakes. Tommy's is now our "go-to" place for this RI treat. They have replaced Iggy's as the place to go. In the words of a famous New Yorker; "nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded". Tommy's on the other hand, serves up great clam chowder and clam cakes that are crispy and well flavored along with a friendly staff and an unbeatable view of Warwick Avenue. I know that does sound sarcastic, but Iggy's water view is no great shakes and the product is much better at Tommy's. Clean umbrella tables, quick service and even clam cake samples when you approach the window. What's not to like. read more

Visited on a whim on a Friday night. The line was moderate and moved quickly. The prices were fair and the food was delicious! My lobster roll was full of chunky meat, fresh, and the roll was toasted perfectly. I can't wait for another but am stuffed from this one. My husband's fish and chips portion was huge. The fish was flaky and the fries were seasoned well. The clam cakes reminded of rocky point and were full of clams. They only get a 4 because of the music. It was too loud and took away from our experience. It was hard to hear when numbers were called and we could not talk to each other comfortably. I was excited to try this place. I have pretty high standards, as I grew up in a place with lots of seafood and great food in general. Unfortunately, this place disappointed a little bit. Chowder was fine, but nothing to write home about. Clam cakes were definitely good -- a little greasy, but tasty all the same. The lobster roll is something I try everywhere it's offered. This one did not impress, sadly. You just get the sandwich, and for the price, that can be steep. Overall the sandwich was just ok -- the lobster meat was a little tough, which always ruins it for me. My hubby ordered the fisherman's platter and loved the fish, but didn't realize the fried clams were whole belly clams. Not a fan. Shrimp seemed to be the pre-breaded, frozen kind, which is a little disappointing coming from this place. Scallops were ok. Overall, the prices are just way too high for a "clam shack" on the side of the road. Sorry but won't go back. Lots of other choices available! read more

Last night was my first time at Tommy's. The fish and chips are a good size portion and the fish is so fresh. We also had the clamstrops which were delightful. The DJ was playing some great music which created a fun ambiance. I was very impressed that the owner went to every table and ask about the dinners. The outside seating makes you feel like you're dining right by the water even though you're not and there is a canopy section for when it rains. The owner is interactive with the customers and I like how sometimes they will offer you a clam cake while you wait, but the wait time is not long at all! The clam cakes are the least bit soggy, they actually have a nice crunch and fluffy middle texture and the chowder tastes great! Not too thick and not too watery. Very good clam shack. Organized, social distancing practiced. Saw the picnic tables being thoroughly cleaned after customers finished. All tables have umbrellas and there is a tent for shaded dining.
