I had a great experience here with my bf. Came without reservations for breakfast on a Saturday and we were promptly seated outside. The staff was so sweet, they took our plates promptly and checked on us throughout our meal. The live music was really nice, the only thing I didn't like was that our table was really slanted so I was worried my coffee would tip over. We had the breakfast buffet, it was $25 per person and coffee was included. Next time I definitely want to try their mimosas. The buffet had a salad bar and typical breakfast fare like scrambled eggs, french toast, hash browns and breakfast sausages. What really stood out to me were the pasteries. The strawberry cream pastry, and this little chocolate dessert they had were sooo delicious. Would definitely come back if I was in the area.

Great ambience, great service, great chairs, and very good food! My partner was dying to try this place for lunch so we decided to give Tommy's Kitchen a go. Plenty of ample parking, and we managed to pull up between two parked cop motorcycles. Apparently this is the place to go for a bite as we saw locals, firemen and motorcycle cops enjoying some lunch. If you have a bench warrant out of your arrest, maybe you should go elsewhere. Haha Service: 5 stars. courteous and knowledgeable staff from the hostess to our waitress. Our waitress was attentive and efficient and accommodated our needs as we had our dog Elizabeth with us. Firefighter Special: 5 stars We arrived at 1230 and were told that they were out of burgers. (The firemen and police officers ordered the last of the burgers). This being said, I decided to order the firefighter special: Meatball sub - pork, beef and mild sausage, marinara, mozarella cheese served on a garlic bread roll. I opted for fries and salad. The meatball sub was more filling than I thought, and it was a 5 star sub. I ended up taking half of it home for lunch tomorrow. The fries were good, well seasoned but I think they could have been a tad crispier, but I won't nitpick. The side salad was very good as well. Normally Tommy's has a 'get your own' salad bar, but due to COVID precautions, you pick out the ingredients and the waitress assembles the salad in front of you. $5.00 mimosa: stick with the OJ, or no juice. I choose blackberry thinking it was fresh blackberry juice, or blackberries but it was syrup and a bit sweet for my taste. The waitress did offer a solution/replacement but I didnt' want to fuss. I would come back here anytime.

This is the best deal in town. Food is delicious and plentiful and they keep bringing our food. Eating outside is absolutely delightful and the service is great. We got reservations at the last hour they were open so options ran low on some items but there was still plenty to chose from. The music on the patio was delightful. I just wish they had more trees or cover when it got super sunny so bring a hat just in case. Great buy for this small little town.

Long overdue for an updated review, especially because I own the crown for the most checked in person at Tommies kitchen on Yelp. This place is incredible! After the pandemic they added live music during the weekend and it's adds such a nice touch. The patio of this restaurant is awesome, very cozy and cabin like. Their brunch is buffet style and has a salad bar, breakfast section with eggs, hash browns, etc. The pastries section is especially nice, the cannolis are one of a kind! We have been going to this place a lot since it's the best place for brunch in Idyllwild. Not only is it super affordable, the owner and waitstaff are very friendly and personable.

After a morning at the beautiful community playground we enjoyed an awesome brunch in Idyllwild at Tommy's Kitchen in Fern Valley. Tommy's had an incredible layout of eggs, scalloped potatos, smoked lox, jalapeño cheddar biscuits, jambalaya, French toast, crisp hickory maple bacon, sausage, fruit & salad bar, and more plus a table of 20+ desserts - all of the ones we tried were delicious and some of them were out of this world made better by the great coffee & tea compliment. Staff that made us feel like family & invited us to take our time and stay a while. Live music by Terry Jo's Laurel Canyon inspired playing set the mood for a perfect afternoon in the trees. The vibe doesn't get better. What a joyful afternoon.

Well worth the drive. Visiting family in the area and they wanted to go for a day trip to Idyllwild. The restaurant they had in mind was dinner service only on the day we were there so I hopped on Yelp to find something in the area and we landed at Tommy's Kitchen. We sat in a lovely pity dining area and enjoyed both wonderful food and excellent service. It might be a bit of a challenge if you have mobility issues, but it well worth the try.

Truly a fantastic place. Staff were all very friendly, helpful without being overbearing and answered questions about the menu. They seemed genuinely pleased at how much we liked it. The cream of barley soup was outstanding! Add a bit of live acoustic guitar music and a dog-friendly deck with sheepskin chair covers to take the chill off, and you've got a recipe for a perfect brunch spot!

I've never written a review but after eating there WOW from the burger to fries to the bread pudding amazing. I heavily recommend this spot. You shouldn't even decided any other place The burger was seasoned perfectly paired with the perfectly cooked patty The fries are another level perfectly seasoned and crispy Customer service was also outstanding Bread pudding was also great

Tommy's Kitchen is off the beaten path. Away from the traffic and "hustle" of Idyllwild. We enjoyed a delicious lunch on the deck. This place is REALLY good. Salad bar, quiche, etc. all superb. Strangely, the customers here were rather rude. Probably from out of town - but super rude to the help. I'll be back next time I visit Idyllwild. I'd love to try brunch or an Angus burger next time! read more

We were greeted with great hospitality-smiles and hellos and we sat outside on the deck on a gorgeous day. The menu offered a nice selection of choices. We had a spinach omelette, breakfast burrito and muesli with lots of fresh fruit. All the food was delicious and our server was prompt and friendly. I highly recommend this place! read more

Tommy's Kitchen has never let me down. I have been there for breakfast, lunch, and brunch over the last two years. The food is made with care and the service is efficient and friendly. The dining room is homey and colorful, and there's a deck with tables. Brunch is like what you would expect at a nice boutique hotel holiday brunch, or something. Chef Tommy's superior training and experience are apparent when you eat his food. read more

Made reservations via Yelp. Immediately seated. Service was outstanding. The Sunday brunch was very very good. The location and scenery in Idyllwild is incredible. I definately will come back. Sunday brunch is $15. To top it off my wife and mother was given a red rose by the restaurant on Mother's Day. read more

We ate at Tommy's Kitchen after hiking to Tahquitz Peak. What a cute little place it is! I had the Sennen Rosti, which is a breakfast dish. My hubby had a pastrami sandwich with waffle fries. We both really enjoyed our meals. We ate outside on the patio as the weather was perfect. The waiter was friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend eating here! read more

Every time my beau comes to visit me in Idy he INSISTS that we have dinner here. He LOVES the filet mignon stroganoff (he won't stop talking about it!), and my favorite dish is the shrimp risotto. The food is so flavorful and the service is great. We love Chef Stevie and would follow him anywhere. read more

Left Palm Springs with intention to stop in Idyllwild on the way home since we had never been there before. What a cute little town, and this place was as advertised! Daughter had a vegetarian Rosti (very similar to hash browns) with sauteed veggies on top (she ordered without the eggs). I took a taste and it was really good - veggies couldn't have been any fresher (same with fruit! I had the pancakes and they were huge and fluffy. Sat on the patio which was surrounded by pine trees and birds. Just so pleasant. read more

Every day is great, but Sunday brunch is amazing!!! I live down the hill in Menifee, but i work up in Idyllwild 3 days a week and i have to say that the service is amazing and the food is crazy good! Great service, such nice employees and owners. very cozy inside and outside. read more

Great place for breakfast and lunch. Wonderful patio nestled amongst the pines. Better outdoor eating area than anything in the village and pet friendly. Very pleasant staff. When on a trip we normally like to try variety of places but kept coming back to Tommy's because nothing compared as well. Try the Swiss breakfast potato side dish. Yummm! read more

Delicious! My husband and I had the Chipotle Chicken Swiss sandwiches and we were very pleased with the flavor. The side options were either the waffel fries or mixed fruit. We opted for one of each. The waffel fries were batter dipped and seasoned well, with a nice crunch but not over fried. The fruit was fresh, cool and yummy. The potion size was appropriate, as we left there satisfied and not painfully stuffed. It was reasonably priced for the quality and we'll be back! read more

A wonderful dining experience in picturesque Idyllwild. We have enjoyed three dinners and a breakfast at Tommy's in the past month. We have found the food, the ambiance and the staff to be remarkable.....my husband says, "especially the bread pudding dessert!" My favorite all time place to eat. Great food and nicest staff around. Sunday Brunch is super and all food is made in house. They treat you like you are a guest in their home and not just a customer. You are always greeted by one of their staff and when you leave they always Thank you for coming and to enjoy your day. Super dog friendly patio where every pup is automatically brought a fresh bowl of water. Such a special place in quaint Idyllwild CA. read more

We are locals and are always interested in trying a new restaurant in town. We think Tommy's is a winner. The food is terrific and of great quality. We have eaten at Tommy's three times and have enjoyed it immensely. We were introduced by the owner to the Burchermuesli dish, a cold breakfast dish featuring a blend of yogurt, fruits, nuts, and oats, garnished with fresh fruit and a dollop of whipped cream. Freshing, nourishing, and filling! Not only is the food top notch, but the staff are welcoming and attentive. Can't wait for warmer weather so we can enjoy the beautiful outdoor deck! read more

My wife and I decided to go on an adventure rather than do the same old Thanksgiving meal at home. We drove to Idyllwild and looked around for a good spot. The building just outside "downtown" formerly occupied by the Bread Basket is now Tommy's. Turns out the new owners have been open a week and decided to try a buffet for Thanksgiving. Well, it was great. The salad bar was full of familiar items with completely different taste twists. A creamy slaw that was tangy and fresh, a potato salad that was was a delight, and the home made dressings that were one better than the other. (We had more salad for dessert) We went back to get the entrees and saw, yes the usual; Turkey, ham, yams, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy. They looked familiar, but each had a little twist of spice, intrigue and savor that kept us interested through the whole meal. Apparently after today, they're open for breakfast and lunch and well worth the effort. Great food, a wonderful staff and obvious skill in the kitchen makes this a wonderful experience. One more star coming if the second trip is as good. read more

i CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS PLACE! I'm not the sort of person who asks to speak tot he chef, but today I did. I wanted to shake his hand and wish him much success. I have been here three times for lunch and every time I have been impressed with the quality, freshness, and ingenuity of the food, the friendliness of the staff, and the casual elegance of the room. My only regret is that it is not open for dinner. Maybe someday soon? read more

Fantastic service and the food was super good. I have a rare food allergy and they were more than understanding and accommodating. The pastrami sandwich at lunch tasted fresh and not heavy. Love the location and that it's not right in the town center. Has that cozy feeling inside too which is an added bonus. read more

I came here for brunch and despite not liking buffets, I ended up selecting the brunch buffet. It was great and had too many options! All of them tasted great! Not sure what was the best but their home cured salmon was phenomenal! The service was also quite amazing! read more

Great outdoor seating with large trees surrounding the tables giving shade and an overall woodsy feeling you expect in Idylwild. The french toast is likely the best I have ever had in my life. It is perfectly cooked with fine sugar coating it in entirety. Wow. Will come again for sure. read more

We've had breakfast and lunch numerous times here at Tommy's but last night was the first time for dinner and it was delicious. During the day the place is friendly and cozy and for dinner still friendly and cozy but they add a touch of elegance which made it a nice date night. David was our server, and as always, he was attentive and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend. read more

Lovely setting, awesome food and friendly staff. We stopped for lunch on a hot day and chose outdoor seating. Shady and restful, like a tree house for grown ups. I ordered the pastrami sandwich with a fruit salad. My companions ordered hamburgers with waffle fries. The food was really good, thoughtfully prepared. Nice day, beautiful drive from/to Palm Desert. Wonderful! We came here for the first time for breakfast and we were so impressed. Everything was so tasty and just seasoned to perfection. I usually always add salt to my eggs and breakfast potatoes, but here, nope! It tasted perfect. quaint, cozy setting with high quality, fresh food clearly made with care and attention to detail. I would very highly recommend this place!! Also would be great for vegetarians. Several breakfast dishes, including the one I got, were vegetarian with roasted vegetables that were just so good. A+! read more

The portions felt fair for the price, which seems increasingly rare these days. I ordered the spaghetti bolognese and, in a move that will surprise absolutely nobody who knows me, added an extra side of bolognese because I believe pasta should swim, not merely bathe, in sauce. The sauce itself was flavorful and rich, although perhaps a touch saltier than I personally prefer -- and considering I'm usually the person reaching for the salt shaker before tasting anything, that's saying something. Overall, Fratello's delivered a relaxing patio, good food, and a pleasant afternoon in Idyllwild. We left happy, full, and already talking about coming back. And yes, next time I'll probably order the extra sauce again.

On a reccomendation we tried out Tommy's Kitchen. Food was excellent nothing shy of remarcable. Great portion size, flavor and taste was all to pleasant to out taste buds. Service was lacking to say the least. Our server did not seem to want us there as we were the only people on the patio he seemed as if we were keeping him from something. He did not check with us prior to food being dropped off. Once food arrived he promptly brought the bill as if we needed to pay and tip befor savoring the flavors of our meal. He came back several times trying to remove our plates (with half our food still om them) and pick up the check as if to rush us out of there. Our opinion, treat a customer as if they were family and they will be back. With this great of food the service should be better, not rushing us to be done. We're old we take our time to dine. If we were to grade the restaurant Food A/ Quantity A/ Portion Size A/ Service by our server D/ Service by other staff A. Other staff seemed very pleasant. Take some advise a decent server will ruin a restaurant. A great server will build your restaurant to be just as great as their service. We will be back because the food was delicious. read more

Was in the Restarant this week. Food was great, the ambiance on the patio was fantastic the server was horrible. He asked for our drink order, forgot to bring the drinks, came back to the table twice to take an order because he forgot to ask if we wanted potato waffles or fruit. Our daughter was thirsty had to ask for our drinks again. Food comes out great taste, large portions, filled out tummy's. Asked for a refill and he forgot rushing around doing things. Over heard the ladies next to us saying "we wish we would have had our usual server" . Those ladies sat their with empty drinks as well. Finally asked the other server for refills he brought them right out refilled the ladies glasses and the ladies said "next time we want you back". For a restarant with such great food they should have a better server that pays attention and listens. As we left my husband reflected the tip due to service not the food. Food is a 5 star we will be back for the food for sure. We will also ask for the other server because his tables seemed very please and he seemed very friendly and attentive. read more

Though residing in PA, I happened to stumble upon Tommy's Kitchen while visiting relatives in Idyllwild, CA. I don't typically write reviews but felt the need to with this one. The new interior was fantastic, and the atmosphere as a whole was very laid back and family friendly. While I opted for something as simple as a burger, all those around me with different dishes looked as pleased as I was. With a great waiting staff and even the busboys, I can wholeheartedly recommend Tommy's Kitchen to all by the Idyllwild area. read more

We went there this last Saturday, which was May 2 and the restaurant wasn't open. We walked half a mile to get there and we're a little bit disappointed yelp said it was gonna be open that day. Needless to say it was not. Bummer read more
