    Sushi and Sashimi Lover Lunch
    Corie Y.

Nice little spot for a good lunch special! This place is cute and bright inside, it's nice and modern. A friend and I stopped in for lunch before doing some shopping in the plaza. We both went for lunch specials and a kani salad. I went for a sushi and sashimi lover lunch special ($16) which came with miso soup and salad. She got the two roll combo ($12). These lunches were a steal and everything was pretty good. Service was good. A very average lunch for a great deal. I didn't find it to be anything over the top or special, but totally a good place to stop by for lunch while shopping in the plaza.

I've ordered takeout several times, but dining in at the restaurant for the first time was a great experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was spotless, and the atmosphere was so enjoyable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was fantastic! I highly recommend it.

The food was honestly better than we expected, not having done a ton of research going in. I was surprised by the tuna specifically as well as the sweet shrimp ($8 for a pair isn't bad). Overall, the prices are a little higher than I would prefer, but everyone was so kind and the service was wonderful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are lots of pictures of the interior, but if feels like you're in a little neon ocean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Sawa is really great! Great food. Great value. Great addition to Glenmont. Service needs a little polishing and improvement. The Lunch specials from 11-3 pm are really great value for price and good portion. Each part of the meal tasted great and left me wanting more. The iced tea is great, too. Unfortunately on 1 visit my soup came out cold, but I think it was an isolated occurrence, since I've been 3 times and have been happy overall. The unsweetened iced tea is so good, probably my favorite around.

Always happy with the food, and usually a Monday or Tuesday I stop in. Much quieter than most nights I stop Bout this time. Ordered a Sapporo And shortly after two hand rolls. Enjoyed m6y wait with my beer, and since si quiet, wondered where my two hand rolls were. About that time another group of three had bellied up ro the bar and nearly were known by thw operators, to thw point they now got a special appetizer ara there seats , and i still had not been attended to by the sushii chefs who had mad made NO rolls while i was waiting. I'll go back to Akira and the food is good and the shirty service is made up far. Cheers hope this customer's made it worth your age. . Zerostars.

Yay! A winner in Glenmont! First - lovvvve the decor and atmosphere. Great lighting, colors, comfortable seating, beautiful bar. Friendly, efficient service. Then a great menu - something for everyone! From Thai, Chinese and Japanese dishes to awesome sushi - and a great cocktail menu. Everything we had was delicious and expertly prepared. Presentation on sushi was stunning. So many reasons to come back!!

Finally, Friday lunch! I was happy to find I could once again sit at the sushi bar of a US sushi restaurant- it's been over a year since Masa in Columbus Circle. But it would be unfair to compare Sawa to any but local Capital region restaurants, especially after all the changes in the last 18 months. This brand new restaurant in a strip mall is off to a good start, with relatively muted sea-blue-green décor, with 2 giant flat-screen sports TVs facing the 15-seat bar (more full bar than sushi bar), and additional seating in another dozen or so booths. The 50-wine-bottle wall display, disappointingly, did not highlight any sake, although warm sake was available from a 10L box / dispenser/heater machine. The host/ server was polite and helpful, but most of my interaction was with the chefs. Unfortunately, toro is only available on weekends. So, I ordered a selection of maki and nigiri, to allow the chefs to demonstrate their abilities. After receiving the order, one chef prepared me a quick amuse-bouche of shredded surimi atop asparagus and covered with fired salmon. Not bad, but a little unwieldy for just a single bite, once the server brought me a cloth napkin, fork and disposable hashi. Surprisingly, neither the server nor the chef suggested sake with my relatively large order. I assume the paper napkins were reserved for the "Lunch Special Only" crowd. The miso soup and iceberg salad, standard fare for a lunch special, were unremarkable. For the main, the 10 nigiri and two maki were well presented, except the saba and unagi seemed a bit uneven (photo). The remainder were very good: the hotate and hirame, and tamago, the classic method to evaluate a chef. The two simple makis were part of a lunch special, but well prepared. I was eating at the sushi bar, but I was only able to have a few words with the three chefs, as they were quickly and efficiently plating their preparations, and easily outpacing the servers - at one point seven beautiful plates sat atop the sushi cooler, waiting to be served (photo). For a restaurant that was only 25% full, this surprised me, but they are only in their second month. Sawa is still in the process of ironing out a few small problems, and it appears that will be done very soon. I'll have to return soon. 2021 12 24. S22.

Best Asian restaurant in Glenmont! I'm so happy they are finally open now, the interior design is so awesome and I really like their bar. That staffs are really friendly and the service is excellent. The food tastes really good as well. This will be my new go to spot!

It's was quite slow, staff promptly greeted us, and we were able to secure a hibachi table and chef right away. Our hibachi chef was friendly and talented, but we couldn't understand anything he was saying because he had a mask on; hopefully he was well, or being cautious? Our server wasn't much for conversation, she was slow to refill drinks, and we had a mistake with our meal, that seemed like it would have been too much trouble to wave her down and have them fix. Four of us had Hibachi and Nancy ordered two sushi rolls. One of her rolls was a spicy tuna ($7.50) and the other was supposed to be a tempura fried shrimp roll instead of bringing out the tempura roll they brought her a California roll ($6.50). Not the end of the world but something to note. Both rolls were good but I would probably go with an upgraded roll (Chef Special) if I were to return. For some reason I always get The short end of the stick when I eat at a hibachi restaurant. Its like they always give me a ton of rice and give a 1/3 of my meat to everyone else. Same thing happened here. I ordered the steak and shrimp ($28.95) and my buddy next to me got a ton of shrimp and his kids got most of the steak. I think next time I do this I'm going to tell them to cook mine separately in butter so this can't happen again, so annoying. The hibach was good and our experience was overall good. I would come back again but I think I'll come with a better game plan if ordering hibachi.

I'm glad I did because this place turned out to be a hidden gem. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere that's clean, cozy, and perfect for either a casual lunch or dinner with friends. The service was friendly, and the sake was the perfect complement to the meal. I ordered the Vegetable Pad Thai and a Cucumber Roll, while my friend chose the General Tso's Chicken. If I'm being completely honest, my friend's dish stole the show. The chicken was perfectly crispy, coated in a flavorful sauce with just the right balance of sweet and savory, and paired wonderfully with the rice and broccoli. My Vegetable Pad Thai was fresh and satisfying, but I would have loved just a little more sauce to really bring all the flavors together. The Cucumber Roll was light, refreshing, and a nice contrast to the richer entrées. Overall, this was a great dining experience. Between the inviting atmosphere, flavorful food, and relaxing vibe, Tomo Asian Bistro is definitely worth checking out if you're in the Slingerlands area. When we entered there was no host at the counter, we were just standing there for a minute or two before we started searching for someone. Finally, a lady came out the back kitchen and seated us. We just wanted a small lunch since we were planning on picking up food from Che Figata later that evening. Well, I guess there is no regular menu only the all you can eat buffet menu ($28 each)? The way it works is there is actually no buffet at all, you must place an order for items on the buffet menu then wait for the food to be delivered. If you're still hungry and want more you need to place another order. On one hand, your food would be fresh and not sitting out on a buffet; alternatively, most people will fill up before their second or third item arrives. Something to note is you can only order 2 pieces of sushi or sashimi per order, and one sushi roll per order. It wasn't too busy; however, customers that were already seated were just twiddling their thumbs waiting for more food to arrive and there was only one server and she didn't look like much of a go-getter. After about 5-minutes of waiting around for something to happen we decided it would be better if we got the hell out of there before we were stuck sitting around like everyone else. I guess this concept works as this restaurant does have good reviews, but I just didn't like the vibe and couldn't risk a potential bad experience on Mother's Day. Sorry Sushi Shine, we decided to go to Sawa Shushi Bistro instead and had a wonderful experience there.

Upon entering, the girl behind the counter just stared at us. No greeting. No direction on where to sit. No smile. We assumed it was self seating so we found a booth. She came over, poured our waters, still said nothing. We had about 45 mins until the restaurant closed so I'm unsure of what the cold attitude was for, as there were still 4-5 other patrons there eating as well. My friend is a vegetarian and ordered the veggie dumplings, and I had the same but with meat. Once the plates arrived, the one set in front of me was green, and his not. I figured I would double check to make sure we had the correct ones - I didn't want him to end up eating the meat ones if it could be avoided. Sure enough, the plates were mixed up. Honestly seemed to be done purposefully because it's very clear they are 2 different orders. The texture was chewy/foamy and they also tasted like old grease. Disappointing but we still had soups to look forward to. Our ramen finally arrived and I was hoping it would be the redemption moment of the evening but it wasn't. It really lacked any depth of flavor. Again the meat was chewy instead of tender. More distracting was how we awkwardly felt rushed as the server was shutting off lights and music...again...with at least 15 mins until the kitchen closing time. She seemed annoyed we asked for to go containers. At no point did she check in with us, refill waters, or even crack any resemblance of a smile. I used to love this little spot when I was in college. It was cozy, delicious, inviting. Couldn't have had more of the opposite experience this time around! And for this reason I would not return. I will travel to Colonie for Kuma Ani for better food and MUCH better service. TLDR; this place is extremely overrated

I'll admit to having kind of written it off for a long time due to the weird menu/concept (it's hard to trust that a restaurant is going to serve you a burger, some empanadas and a plate of pad Thai and execute any or all of them competently), but the good people at Fusion are serving food that's truly, honestly about three times better than it needs to be (caveat: we've stuck to the more Asian sections of the menu, so I won't make any bold claims about the burgers). The Chinese portion of our family unit said that my drunken noodles reminded him of the stuff that a street vendor sold outside of his middle school, which like, IYKYK (if you don't know, this is about the highest praise a plate of noodles can get). I'm not normally a major pad Thai enthusiast, but the version here was well-balanced and flavorful, not just kind of sweet and gloppy like a lot of local versions, and the broth for the chicken noodle soup is also truly random-SE Asian-street-cart level flavorful. If that wasn't enough to sell you on this place, the draft Sapporo is five bucks. In conclusion: please come here support these nice folks so they can continue to make above-par food for many years to come.
