This is the review I have been holding off for a while…read more Today marks 6 months since we used this service. This has been the most difficult and saddest decision we've had to make. When I contacted Restful Paws, I didn't know what to expect. In fact, I felt bad crying on the phone because I couldn't imagine trying to talk to someone like me at that moment. But the staff couldn't be more understanding and supportive. Unlike making end of life decisions for your fur baby, the process of scheduling this appointment was very easy. Restful Paws asked all the right questions, set the expectations, and made this process that much easier. And on the day of, Dr. Ami arrived promptly at the scheduled time. She was very caring and understanding, and she put all of us at ease. We could not have asked for a better last day for our Sodapop. I'm thankful that we reached out to restful pause, and grateful that they were able to come to our house to help us get through this phase. Weeks later, we received a card from Dr. Ami sending us her condolences. Thank you, Restful Paws, for doing the service that you do. I'm sure it's not easy, and I can only imagine how sad it is to do this on a daily basis. Thank you so much!

From calling to make an appointment, receiving reminder emails, and day of texts from our vet, each step was handled with so much compassion. We were able to find a weekend availability which was best scenario so everyone could attend. Dr. Vine was very punctual the day of and gave us a thorough breakdown of what to expect (pain reliever, anesthesia, and euthanasia). We didn't feel rushed at any point, and we were given ample time before proceeding to each stage. She was very respectful and the process was smooth. After the euthanasia, we were able to choose where we wanted the fur clippings. The paw print was perfectly imprinted with Christy's name, which added such a sweet personal touch. We chose to pickup Christy's ashes at Sage, and it was quick. The only thing is it felt very jarring going to an animal hospital filled with so many people and dogs. Considering this was only 2 weeks after the euthanasia, I was still grieving and it was difficult being in that environment so soon. The only feedback I'd give is it'd be more mindful if there was a separate pickup location away from everyone else for more privacy. Dr. Vine sent a sympathy card as well and it was very sweet. Thank you so much for giving Christy such a respectful experience and having her pass comfortably and peacefully. I will definitely recommend this organization to loved ones! Thank you Dr. Vine for such a smooth experience. You made this process much easier and we were able to focus on grieving afterwards. Rest in peace, sweet Christy!

Ruby had her first TPLO surgery in August 2025 and the second in October 2025. It was expensive but we're thrilled... we got our Ruby back! She's walking, running, having fun at the beach - all pain free. Our family is once again making memories with our girl. I highly recommend Sage and the TPLO procedure.

I hate to write a bad review, but I also feel compelled to warn others so that they don't have the…read moresame experience that we did. I will not share the entire saga, but here is what I will say: - I do not know if SAGE's clinical choices were sound, as I am not a vet. What I do know is that they were not successful, and resulted in the death of a relatively young (6 year old) cat who did not appear to be *that sick*. - The care that was provided - which took place over the course of less than 12 hours and did not involve any surgery resulted in bills exceeding $7,000. - After the traumatic experience, SAGE was focused purely on payment, and not at all on condolences. They immediately charged the credit card on file and sent multiple emails with invoices (which were unclear and in some cases contradictory). When I arrived to pick up the cat's ashes the person at the front desk looked at the computer and said "you have an outstanding balance of $400; would you like to pay that now?" She did not say "I'm sorry for your loss" and instead just straight to asking for more money. When I pushed back she said "that's our protocol." Yes, clearly it is. - They made many administrative errors throughout the process, which I will not go into because for those they have apologized, but there were so many that I felt embarassed for them. But I've now contacted them multiple times with one simple request: please send me one invoice that is complete and accurate. My requests have gone unanswered. Perhaps because they have already received payment, they are no longer concerned with me, but it's actually pretty outlandish. They charged over $7,000 (I think - it's actually hard to tell because again, the charges and invoices are not clear or complete) and can't be bothered with giving me a clear answer. I am truly not sure how any business can get away with operating this way, but apparently SAGE can. I'm sure they do some good work. I'm sure there are many good people who work there and care a lot about animals. But based on our experience, it feels like incompetent adminstration at best and a scam at worst. I know that when your pet needs emergency care you may not have a lot of options, but if you do, I suggest that you try to go elsewhere.

After the vaccinations, she weighed Emmy and told me she was a bit overweight. Our dog died in her sleep in early 2020, we called the practice and asked for advice (we hadn't experienced this type of loss before). Their staff were very abrupt and told us to call the pet cremation place in Daly City. No word of sorry for your loss, or inquiry into who their patient was that had died. Kind of cold and callus. I wrote to the management after as it wasn't a good look for them. Since then there has been a decent turnover of vets and their staff continue to be rude to the customers. Yesterday was the final straw for me. I took my dogs for their annual check up and one of my dogs had just had a lump appear on his paw. I asked about it as it he was constantly licking it. I was told it was a wart and that it could be taken off when he has a minor procedure that is required soon. When I was paying, I was told that I need to come back and pay for another visit just to diagnose the wart. I tried explaining that the vet had already looked at it just now and was met with a comment of "that was a freebie, now you have to come back for the official diagnosis." Sorry, you just told me that it was a wart that could be removed later, no need to spend another $100 just to be told the same. I said no thanks and that I would take it somewhere else and was promptly told that all my records for both dogs would be emailed and that was that. They fired me as a client. Gotta say, Thank You, that saved me calling to get them, I needed that push to find a nicer vets. I hear that the new place on El Camino in San Carlos is great, can't wait to give it a try. Shame really, we had been at Whipple for 15 years. Great way to lose a client. Glad that I don't run my business this way.

I brought my dog Ollie in for a cherry eye issue, and from the moment we arrived, Dr. Stanton was incredibly kind, patient, and thorough. He took the time to explain exactly what was going on, answered all of my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable with every step of the process. You can immediately tell that he genuinely cares about the well-being of the animals and the families who love them. One thing I especially appreciated was how transparent he is about costs. He clearly explained the pricing upfront so there were no surprises, which I think every pet owner can appreciate. His pricing is very fair and reasonable, and the level of care he provides is outstanding. Ollie is doing great, and I'm so thankful for the thoughtful care he received. Experiences like this make such a difference when you're trusting someone with a beloved pet. I have two dogs--a 14-pound Chihuahua/King Charles mix and an 11-year-old Black Lab/German Shepherd--and after this experience, I wouldn't take them anywhere else. It means so much to have a veterinarian you can truly trust with your animals. If you are looking for a compassionate, honest, and skilled veterinarian in the San Carlos area, I highly recommend Dr. Stanton Veterinary. Thank you again, Dr. Stanton, for taking such great care of Ollie.
