Was totally deceived as we approached Tompkins Square Bagels and believed there was no line out the door. Come to find out, the lines formed in the back of the store and looped around to the counter! The line did go by quickly though, and it helps to have a person take orders down the line. I picked something random to try to avoid ordering the same things in my group. While some of our bagels were standouts, there were some misses. My pastrami bagel, The Koch, included egg, scallion cream cheese & red onion. I thought the combination was mild and I would prefer a different cheese in the bagel instead of cream cheese, which I could swap next time if they allowed. My other friend's bagel, the MCA, was a veggie bagel. It was loaded with lots of tomatoes, a runny egg, and an avocado mash that made the bagel soggy. Overall, I'd stick to the specialties, if it's your first time, as I thought the Triple Crown bagel sandwich was the most flavorful because of all the ingredients in it. Really solid spot for bagels with quick service, so do not be intimidated by the line! The schmears and sandwich "toppings" were fantastic--sold flavors and generous amounts--but really wished there was more oomph from the bagels themselves. Our total was about $60 for a breakfast bagel, a fish and schmear bagel, two bagels with sweet schmear, and two cookies, before taxes and tip. Again, with two of our items incorrect (wrong bagel for one, wrong schmear for another). As a native New Yorker, the OG location has been on my "to try" list for maybe decades now. Thankfully I had the chance to come to this location instead recently and all these years later, it was well worth the wait. I was in a time crunch so was a bit stressed when I saw the line. Fortunately they have a very efficient system where they take your order while you're on the line, so by the time you go up to pay - the bagel is there and ready for you! Phew, I was so pleasantly surprised because I thought I had to continue waiting after paying. But before I paid and was still waiting, I was joined by my nephew who was so excited to be there, watching the orders being prepared in the open kitchen. The nice man who had taken my order earlier noticed the kid and went to the back to grab him a warm rainbow bagel on the house! It was such a kind gesture and we are so grateful. We turned out to have enough time to quickly devour the fresh, delicious bagels in the back garden. It's not East Village but still worth the hype. read more

I got a basic fried egg on a buttered everything bagel. It took forever to come out. I would have left had I not already paid. The place was uncomfortable while waiting. Just too many people inside. Tompkins Square Bagels in my neighborhood location has been on my to go list since I added this location to YELP! Someone beat me to FTR but I don't care. I'm thrilled to see how busy this location has become. The reason I'm definitely not complaining is that they are one of the friendliest and most efficient bagel shops I've ever visited! Not only that but I found the outside patio in the back with tons of seating in the comfortable weather today made the experience so enjoyable. As for the bagel and cream cheese I had my favorite bagel anywhere which is Pumpernickel Everything. I had the Espresso Cream Cheese which I've never seen offered by any other bagel shop. It was a great combination and such a fresh delicious bagel. I can't find anything negative to say. The artwork with NYC scenes is amazing. The atmosphere is just perfect for a local business. I'm glad I don't live in this building because I'd be here way too often. Then again I'm envious of people that live closer than I do. I'm definitely going to try the Sourdough bagel. That's a flavor I love and I don't find often. I can't recommend this bagel brand enough! I see a Tompkins Square Bagel addiction in my future!! So freaking good! We picked these up on the way to the US Open and no one there had better looking food than us. They were ready right on time when we picked them up at the to go counter. The stutto has chipotle chicken salad with avocado and bacon, and it is truly the best sandwich I have ever eaten. The staff takes your order before you pay at the counter. There is also a nice patio with a decent amount of seating perfect for a nice day. The interior is also quite spacious with fun decor. I ordered the Triple Crown on a jalapeno cheddar bagel and was super impressed. For the price, the portion was amazing and quality of the ingredients was great. It came loaded with bacon and I loved the sweetness from the maple glaze. This has definitely become one of my favorite bagel spots and I get the hype! read more

Stopped by here before I went to Hunter College. I really enjoyed my bagel and appreciated the help from the lady who is working that register. I appreciated that she double checked that I was trying to order the tofu cream cheese when I ordered the jalapeño cheddar cream cheese. I actually have a soy allergy so that would've ruined my day so I super appreciate her double checking prior to adding it onto my bagel. There's a pretty large outdoor section to sit in that's nice and quiet and has cute chairs and tables. I feel like what you're coming here for are the specialty cream cheese flavors and sandwiches. I definitely have a sweet tooth so I've tried a few of the cream cheeses but their list is so expansive so I have many more to try! Big fan of the cookie dough cream cheese. Their sandwiches look great too but I haven't had the chance to try them yet - I'll be sure to report back.
