I like the owner, Tom. He picked up the phone and his voice has a good vibe. He is reliable and trust worthy with his work. My car won't start and it has to do with engine problem. After AAA towed it there, Tom was able to diagnose and told me as is. The price is reasonable. It got fixed the same day. I am extremely happy about it. He even came to pick me up himself. Very very pleased..!

I can't say enough good things about Ed and his team at Transmission Specialist…read more My Ford F-150 suddenly went into limp mode and was stuck in third gear, along with a few other issues. Since my truck was out of warranty, I wasn't sure where to turn. I reached out through Yelp and heard back from Ed almost immediately. He had a good idea of what might be wrong and invited me to bring the truck in for an assessment. After inspecting it, he identified damage (caused by rats) to the transmission wiring harness, which had unfortunately caused internal damage. He walked me through everything clearly and provided a very reasonable estimate for a full rebuild. Throughout the entire process, Ed was easy to communicate with, always professional, and genuinely helpful with his advice. What really stood out was how he went above and beyond after the repair. I was told this type damage might be covered under my comprehensive auto insurance. Ed then took the time to work directly with my insurance company--providing detailed documentation and expert insight. Because of his effort and experience, the claim was approved and the repair ended up being fully covered. That level of service is rare these days. I truly appreciate Ed's honesty, professionalism, and follow-through. He did exactly what he said he would do and then some. I wouldn't hesitate to come back or recommend him to anyone in need of transmission work.

Last year, the transmission on my 2008 RAV4 was rebuilt by Transmission Specialists after tow truck…read moredamage, going through insurance. A year later it still hard-shifts going downhill. I brought it back twice and both times I was told everything was fine. During the rebuild, they replaced (and charged additionally me for) replacing the transmission mounts, but a few days after I picked up my car, my motor mounts broke and the engine shifted while I was at a red light. I brought it back immediately and, after a test drive, I was told everything was fine. A separate shop found the entire engine was tilted, and I paid out of pocket several hundred dollars for their diagnosis and installation of replacement motor mounts - mounts I was told should have been replaced along with the others. I brought it back several months later because my car was hard shifting whenever I went downhill and the alternator continued making a high pitched noise. After a test drive on the flat roads around Santa Ana with Ed, was told that it shifted like butter. He advised me to warm up the car before driving, which has not helped at all. I was also promised that my alternator would be exchanged for the price of parts from O'Reilly and that it would be about a $150. I was ultimately charged me $429 for the third party alternator (definitely not a Denso) that makes high pitched whirring sounds when I press the gas pedal. Other minor issues: scratched my window tint and took 6 weeks to complete the work, fixing the alternator last and costing me 3 extra days of rental fees my insurance wouldn't cover. I ended up paying $1345 out of pocket to their shop and insurance covered $4000. Also, I incurred an additional several hundred dollars to the other shop to fix the motor mounts and for the extra days of rental. Ed is really nice and communication was not an issue. Overall, though, I did not have a great experience and I'm reminded of that daily when I drive my car over the hill to get to work, as the car will inevitably jolt as it shifts gears going downhill. It doesn't leave me a good feeling that the transmission repair will last. For this reason, I can't recommend this shop for transmission or general repair work.

I dropped my truck off with Bill. I asked him to check my transmission. He said sure I just needed to drop it off in the morning. He called later that afternoon. He mentioned she (my truck) was ok. I then mentioned my problem was I had to warm up my truck for 15 minutes and then she would be good to drive. Having to do this every time I had to go to work or after work I'd sit there for a while was becoming annoying. Bill kept the truck for over night to see how she would run in morning. . Bill drove her and he expierenced the same thing I did. Sure enough it was the transmission. I took her home and drove it about a week so I could notify work. It was going to cost me 4,800.00 for a rebuilt 3 year warranty. Bill called and said there was another piece that needed repairing so I paid a little over $5.000. All in all I liked the fact Bill had my truck ready in 4 days was fantastic he originally quoted me 5 days. I had the best quality care for my vehicle. Bill was very professional.

I found Francis through an online search because of the many positive reviews, and during our first interaction he was friendly, professional, and seemed very knowledgeable. He ordered the part directly from Acura and quoted me a fair price. My car was ready the following day, but when I arrived to pick it up, Francis informed me that my vehicle had been involved in an accident while in his care. He explained that another driver had been speeding through the parking lot and crashed into him. He gave me the other driver's information, and I contacted him immediately. The other driver gave a very different version of events. He stated that he was backing out of a parking space and did not see Francis. He also told me that Francis provided his driver's license information but refused to share insurance information. Now, more than a month later, I still have a damaged vehicle and have not received insurance information from Francis despite multiple phone calls, text messages, and outreach from Mercury Insurance. I trusted this shop to take care of my car, not return it to me in worse condition and leave me responsible for a $500 deductible. What has been most disappointing is the lack of accountability and urgency. Francis acted as though this situation was not a major concern and repeatedly assured me that the other driver would "take care of it," which has not happened. According to the other driver, Francis even asked him to change the story about what happened. I chose this business because of its strong reviews and the image Francis presents, but my experience has been extremely stressful and disappointing. I believe customers deserve honesty, transparency, and responsibility when their vehicle is in someone else's care.

Unfortunately, when I arrived, Carson was heading out for a break, so I had the displeasure of working with Langston at the front desk. Langston told me that Carson had given me the incorrect quote over the phone, which was fine; I just said I would go elsewhere for cheaper. When I told him this, he responded that his prices are the way they are because he uses quality parts. I asked him if the part would be aftermarket, and he said "it's Japanese." That didn't answer my question, so I asked him if the brand was Denso, and he said "yes, that's Japanese, right?" Aside from my interaction with him, I saw Langston being rude and giving attitude to my guy Carson after he came back from his break for no reason at all. I ended up going elsewhere to get the job done with the same Denso part for $100 less (close to the original quote that Carson gave me). Moral of the story is that I don't trust Langston, and I certainly don't like how he was treating Carson. Maybe he was having a bad day, but his attitude today was enough to make me question coming back here in the future (which is unfortunate because everyone else here is really kind and patient). So I decided to come here for a second opinion, and I'm really glad I did. The mechanic took the time to properly diagnose the issue and walked me through everything step by step. Within about an hour, he figured out that it wasn't the air flow sensor at all--it was just a blown fuse. That alone saved me a lot of money and potentially from being overcharged elsewhere. What really stood out was the honesty and communication. He explained clearly what went wrong, didn't try to upsell anything, and made sure I understood the situation. On top of that, he even aired up my tires for free, which was a nice touch. Fast, honest, and affordable service like this is hard to find.
