It's been since 2002 since I've been to Tom's steakhouse and that was the time my brother was moving to California it was his birthday in November 18th 2002. My parents myself and just him alone went to attend Tom's steakhouse during that time I thought it was bougie. Well moving after 20 years if not more I decided to treat myself alone or go solo to this steak house. I could have gone to like Texas longhorn or Texas Roadhouse but this has that nice 1970s feel for the ambience. service was pretty attentive. The waitress suggested the split being ham soup for that day on a Tuesday but I went for the salad and I'm glad I went for the salad because the salad dressings tastes very fresh as well as the salads themselves they make your salad dressings in house or from scratch. The complimentary bread with the butter was also very flavorful and warm. Of course I went for the king prime rib I was going to go for the bigger one but it's just too much for me I don't have the appetite like I used to have this would probably be good for a 30 or early 40 year old to have a an appetite and is bougie despite being an old establishment in Melrose Park. In regards to the king prime rib it was cooked okay. I ordered it medium rare next time I'll order it medium well wildfire steakhouse served this one time this kind of cut and I forgot all about this it was better than wildfire steakhouse in Hoffman estates and that's a franchise versus Earth small older Greek established with that serve steaks. Despite that I had a baked potato I ordered two other a la carte sites which was the mushroom sauteed as well as the grilled sauteed onions it was very delicious . As for dessert I decided to go on a limb and try this Brandy ice cream it was a man okay it was basically been a ice cream saturated with Brandy in it they give you a big portion of ice cream. I probably should have gone with the peppermint ice cream they had and I don't really care for cheesecake. Other than that it was it was a restaurant that I haven't tried and it's kind of like a bucket list thing this might be more than 20 years. I do suggest to ask for the server Lily when you're here she was very friendly and informative on certain dishes on the menu

Toms is an old school steak house. Came here with a group for lunch. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Food was good and prices were reasonable.

Tom's Steak House, located in Chicago's West Suburban city, Melrose Park, has been in the neighborhood since 1952. They're known for the steaks and seafood.  Although it's in Melrose Park, it has the classic Chicago steak house vibe. Today was my first time visiting amongst friends. The entry and dining space is very welcoming. By the way, if you are looking to plan a private event, there is a really large event space at the main entry. We started the gathering with drinks, Saganaki that's lighted table-side, and the most amazing soup of the day which was Chicken and Rice. I could have dined on both of those all day! From my understanding, all the meats and seafood are charbroiled. As I had a lot of red meat and seafood earlier in the week, I decided to taste the bbq ribs. Anywhere I go, I do my best to get the ribs without the sauce, so that I can taste the flavor behind it. These were baby back and it seemed like there was a lot of black pepper, salt and garlic powder - nothing additional like brown sugar, cajun seasoning, or chili powder. In this case the bbq sauce was definitely helpful. It was very tangy and delicious. Now that I've tried it, the next time I visit and get the ribs again, I'll taste it while the sauce is baked on. A few of my friends dined on Tom's Steak House burger and prime rib. They all had good things to say. No complaints. I was too full to eat dessert at the restaurant, but I brought home a slice of the carrot cake. Wow, that was super amazing. It was a very decent portion, but I could have easily and greedily eaten two slices! I would give Tom's Steak House 4 out of 5 stars. I would like to see a few more cuts of beef and seafood in the entree selection. Tom's has ample parking and accepts online reservations.

We were celebrating our anniversary at this restaurant, by the way! We don't recommend it at all! The meat was apparently cooked to perfection, however, it tasted horrible, reminiscent of a dirty grill with overcooked food that hadn't been cleaned for a week. When we complained to the manager, the response was very poor and unprofessional! The meat tastes that way because it was cooked on charcoal instead of gas! His simple response was "sorry!" He didn't offer a discount, or even say he would check the grill to make sure it was really clean. The other thing was the presentation of the meat... bathed in what they call meat juice... nothing more than an overcooked and burnt broth that represents contaminated Lake Michigan in the 40s. We don't recommend this restaurant at all!

Ambiance- Great old school vibe. 50's-60's time capsule. Cool bar. Service was solid. Server was attentive Food- was solid. Comes out on carts and served from there. Good value with salad and potato with the steaks. Drinks were made well. Steak- was ok. Great char and served with au jus. Definitely a tougher steak quality. I would prefer to pay a few bucks more to get a higher grade of meat or lower the current price on what it is now. My NY Strip, while tasty.. had a lot of chew to it.

Is Tom's still open for business, we have tried calling for carry out and no answer, even drove by and no note on the door?

As soon as I walked in, I saw so many goodies I knew I was taking home. They had a very well curated selection of fancy condiments from small makers, rare ingredients, and the highest quality version of many every day foods! Everyone behind the counter was so friendly and knowledgeable. I had to try one of their sandwiches and got the salmon po boy at their recommendation. It was really well seasoned and super fresh with a very generous slice of fish on it. Definitely coming back for another one next time I'm in the area! Thank you so much for great service and products!

Carnivore in Oak Park…read more This is a butcher shop and fish market that also sells sandwiches I can't really decide if the old time decor is by design or if the place is really needing an upgrade. I actually think it's the latter. It's a lot smaller than I imagined with very limited seating. We went here for the grilled salmon sandwich. We had seen many online reviews saying it is amazing. They make the sandwiches right in front of you, so you know that they are fresh. We took our sandwiches to go and by the time we got them home , they were cold. The fries traveled well, but again they were also cold bu the time we got home. The grilled salmon sandwiches were very good, but not great , and I really would have loved to have eaten it warm. Prices are on the high side for the butcher meats. But I guess you should expect that since they are an artisanal butcher. I did not like the look of some of the meats in the cases. Would we go back? Maybe to try the Bacon Burger. But we would definitely recommend eating your food in the butcher shop and not taking it to go. I have just found out that that are moving into Carnival Grocery in Oak Park.

A beautiful circular room that was glass enclosed with views of outside and the bar area. They had sheet curtains incase groups wanted a bit more privacy. The room also had a personal fan for air circulation and an independent speaker system to adjust music volume. For drinks, our group got a variety of cocktails, beer, and wine. I got the Hugo Spritz which was a great portion & tasted amazing. While some cocktails on menu were expensive, my Spritz was $14 and my friend's tito's dirty martini was only $13. Definitely consider just ordering a classic versus one of their mixology offerings if you're looking for a budget conscious option. For starters, we shared the Stuffed Mushrooms, Calamari, and Spinach & Artichoke Dip. The portions were good for sharing. The Stuffed Mushrooms had a seafood mix in them with a delicious sauce paired under. The Calamari had a hint of spicy to it but nothing crazy. The Spinach & Artichoke Dip had a good truffle note and was creamy; the dip could have used a few more chips but some individuals used the complimentary bread slices. Most individuals got a soup or salad before the mains. The Lobster Bisque Soup was rich and creamy with a good amount of lobster. Others tried the Caesar, Chop, and Field Green Pear Salads. The Pear Salad could have been shared by two people since it was a starter salad. Everyone raved about the flavors of these. For mains, most people got steaks and shared side dishes of Brussel Sprouts, Truffle Steak Fries, and Asparagus. The sides were shareable for 2-3 people I would say. I ordered the Seared Scallop Pasta and loved it! The noodles were al dente, two sauces paired nicely together, and loved the vegetables that brightened up the dish. For desserts, we shared the Rocky Road Bread Pudding, Fudgy Chocolate Cake, and Orange Vanilla Cream Cheesecake. Every option brought its own flavor and offered something for everyone. I tried the Bread Pudding and Chocolate Cake and WOW! I'd certainly order either one again. While all of the food, drinks, and atmosphere were great, I struggled some with the service. Our main server was Christine who guided us through the menu nicely, made sure the room was comfortable for us, and had a sweet demeanor. The pacing of food was a bit off where it felt like dishes were being taken off the table with a couple of bites left just to serve the next course. I'm not a fan of wasting food when out and I felt these little bites could have been saved and sent home with guests. If we paid for it, we should ALWAYS be asked. There were a couple of side requests that came to the table very delayed and one meal that came at the end of dinner. I'm sure it is difficult to manage a large group setting but I felt disappointed to see items wasted, pacing rushed, and certain people waiting to enjoy till additional items came.

My…read moresister, our daughters, and I were seated for lunch when our server, Casper, came to take our order. As we ordered drinks, he asked only my daughter (33 years old) and my niece (39 years old) for identification. My niece explained that she had her ID available digitally on her phone. Casper said he needed a physical ID but would check with a manager to see if the digital version could be accepted. After speaking with management, he returned and informed us that a digital ID would not be accepted. He explained that the restaurant's policy required physical IDs from anyone who appeared to be 30 years old or younger. When we expressed our frustration and said we would not be dining there because of this policy, he showed no concern and offered no apology. We were curious about a random age requirement if the server thought you "looked" 30 or younger although the legal drinking age in Illinois is 21. Before leaving, we asked to speak with a manager. Ryan, the manager, met us at the door, and we explained that we were disappointed that our niece could not order a drink despite having a valid digital ID. Rather than addressing our concern, he compared the situation to him being carded at liquor stores. We pointed out that this was a restaurant, not a liquor store, and that the policy appeared to be applied selectively based exclusively on the server's judgment. Ryan offered no apology and referred us to the General Manager. When Christa, the General Manager, joined us, we asked why the restaurant used a 30-year-old threshold when the legal drinking age in Illinois is 21. She initially stated that the policy was to request IDs from all guests ordering alcohol. I explained that only my daughter and niece had been asked for IDs. She then revised her explanation, saying that servers request IDs from anyone who appears younger than 30, making the policy exclusively dependent on the server's judgment. We also pointed out that we observed a nearby table of younger-looking guests had been served alcoholic beverages, but their server did not ask for their IDs. Christa questioned our observation. What was most disappointing was that neither Ryan nor Christa apologized for the inconvenience or acknowledged our concerns. As first-time guests, we left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured that we will not be dining at Perry's in Oakbrook again and has left a bad impression of Perry's management team, in general. If I could rate them a "no stars," I would.
