Beet salad was a hit served with big chunks of tender beets. I'm not sure if they boiled and chilled the beets or used another technique to soften them up, but it came out nicely. This time we opted for the khachapuri imeruli. It was delicious. I've yet to come across a khachapuri that I've disliked. Dough was crispy and flakey. Cheese was melty and gooey. Always such a cozy delight. We had the khinkali again - this time with cheese filling. It's a nice vegetarian friendly option, but I prefer the meat or vegetable blend fillings. Cheese in the khinkali was similar to the khachapuri, so it was redundant to order the two together. Would definitely recommend the khinkali but would pick a different filling if you're getting khachapuri. For the main course, we shared the shkmeruli - a roasted chicken in a creamy garlic sauce. I've seen this listed as chicken tabaka elsewhere. It was excellent! Less garlicky than the one I had a Saperavi earlier in the week. Chicken was juicy but the sauce was the star. We dipped the nipples of the khinkali in the sauce to maximize usage. Good list of Georgian wines. Full bar plus some beers including a Georgian one. Service brought out the dishes in a well paced manner. They were very patient as we lounged in their backyard. It was a very comfortable outdoor dining set up. I did like that it was kind of like a hand-held soup dumpling though -Lula Kebab (ground lamb wrapped in lavash) - this was my favorite dish. They do not skimp on the meat! It's a ground meat skewer, which was very tender and flavorful (though a BIT too salty), and I loved the homemade tomato sauce it was served with. I ended up putting the sauce on everything -Kupati (Georgian-style sausage) - I liked the meat itself, but the casing was on the thicker side -Chicken in Bazhe (pan roasted Cornish hen in walnut sauce) - the chicken was a little dry, and I didn't love the walnut sauce If I were to come back, I think the only thing I would order again would be the kachapuri (or perhaps try a different variation), and definitely the kebab.

The apricot juice was amazing! It comes with fresh apricots and the drink wasn't too sweet. Service was good, the waiter checked up on us frequently and always came to refill our water.

In the last few weeks, I have been to three Georgian restaurants, and this one may be the antithesis to everything I have tried up to this point. Because this restaurant is in Williamsburg, expect some hipster flair with some great food. Fortunately, Cheeseboat delivers on both fronts. This is the restaurant that introduced me to Khinkali, or Georgian soup dumplings. Six to a plate, these are outrageously, sinfully, delicious. Not terribly hot, but have terrific flavor that are not filling at all. Everybody should order these when they come here. The Shkmeruli is terrific as well. Full of flavor, amazing spice, the chicken is moist and juicy. I easily butchered this because I did not want to leave any meat on the bone. Unfortunately, the bread it comes with is a bit salty for my liking, but the chicken is the star, and that is why it can be recommended. Of course, you know what is coming next. I have been on the hunt for Khachapuri since I cannot get enough of this bread now. Everything I said previously I rescind (kidding), but seriously. This is dynamic. It is hot and stays hot. So much cheesy flavor and full of deliciousness I could not stop eating it. It is good for one person. This is not to be shared. I would like to take a moment to recognize my server, Liza, now. Pretty, exuberant, full of joy and confidence, with an intelligent aura around her, I think I fell in love with her each time she passed my table. Sonny from the film, "A Bronx Tale" once said every man meets three great women in their lifetime. Sometimes they come all once, sometimes they come around every 10 years. She is definitely someone who is going to make someone very happy one day. It was a joy to have her serve me. How often have I been giving out five star reviews lately? A lot, I know. The nice flavor of the Khinkali (nicely filled with a good amount of beef), a generous Khachapuri, and a tasty chicken that comes with an even tastier sauce. There is more I could write here, but I think getting to the point here is better than me droning on and on about a cuisine that I am still fairly new to. The service is friendly as well. I would just be careful as seating is limited and it does get busy, which does mean people agree and think the food is good here. Safe to say I think I am back in the New York Groove.

Sadly the dish only came with 3 tiny pieces of cornbread, and it would've been nice if they included more bread with it. - Beef & Pork Khinkali - huge dumplings, which reminded me a bit of soup dumplings. The tops were quite doughy (not sure if they're actually edible or meant to be eaten?), but the filling is juicy and tasty. - Chanakhi - a nicely spiced, warm, and bold lamb stew.
