This is a really cool bakery in an area of Brooklyn known for having Russian immigrants, the bakery it self is not very big buy you can tell the make it all fresh and even have Russian drinks (sodas etc..) When I went I had the cheese bread and it was really good and fresh and it was cheap for two of them and a soda. They have many traditional Georgian breads and drinks and from the reviews I have read it seem to be a pretty good place to eat. read more

My boyfriend is Georgian and obsessed with shoti (their bread). After trying Tone cafe, he won't settle for other Georgian bakeries anymote. Best when you're lucky to get it hot from their oven but still great the next day too. Their cheese boat bread, adjuruli khachapuri, is the best too but really because the texture of the bread, airy and crisp outside, never hard. Dumplings are good but not amazing that you can't get elsewhere. So basically their baked goods are the best. read more

WOW!!! I love this restaurant!!! A friend told me about TONÉ-CAFÉ, So I trekked from Prospect Heights ($5 RT via subway) and it was more than worth it!!! I visited Georgian Bread this morning about 8:30 AM. The baker was busy taking breads out of the oven. I guess it was too early for the hachapuri everyone has been writing about because the baker told me that the loaves were the only bread available. No big deal. The loaf I bought ($2) was still warm and the best Georgian bread I ever tasted...of course it was also the only Georgian bread I have ever tasted, but it is difficult to believe that fresh bread could taste any better! UPDATE: I tried the Khachapuri (cheese bread) today. I was with a friend from work so the baker cut the bread into four pieces. Best $6 I spent all day...it was delicious! The guys there told me that they are about to open a cafe so you no longer have to stand by the oven, buy your bread and take it with you! read more

I always make sure to stop by here when I am in Brooklyn. I've been coming here for many years. This year the place was sold by the previous owner, but thankfully the business remains and my tears have not been shed. I've never had an issue with any of the staff here, and on my last visit, David was extremely nice and helpful. The bread has always been outstanding. It did change a little with the new owners. For one, the bean khachapuri is now made with white beans and not red ~ the previous version was spicier and personally I prefer the spiciness. The bread is still amazing especially when warm out of the oven, unfortunately the size of the bread has decreased by about 25% but the price increased. So boooo - not nice! But they have nice salads, and hopefully will have more desserts. The khachapuri is great and they can make you the one with the egg as well. They may be planning on expanding the size of the place or so I've heard. I'm looking forward to the summer, beach, and Georgian bread! read more

The ideal place and food for beach picnics! We ordered 3 khinkali, which were delicious no mess white pizzas, especially easy to eat outdoors. Even for a simple take out order, their service was appreciated and when I dropped my card there, they went up and beyond to return it to me. After getting sun-kissed at Brighton Beach, we hungrily and eagerly trekked over here to get our grub on. Among friends who were familiar with Georgian cuisine, we tried a couple of things to share, notably the khachapuri, regular bread, marinara sauce, eggplant/walnut dish and took them to go to the nearby local park. The food was scrumptious and comforting and the bread quality was superb but why wouldn't it be? There's a very old school, mind blowing Georgian-specific oven smacked inside--which by the way, can make the place feel pretty warm. The fantastic experience brought me back later that same month when they finished remodeling. We feasted like kings and queens without paying an arm and a leg. I can't remember what stood out but definitely order the khachapuri with the poached eggs, lamb shish kebab and anything with eggplant and walnuts. Wednesday July 21st 2021. I called about 5 pm to place two orders of chicken with garlic sauce. It was suppose to be ready at 6pm. I went to pick it up at 6 30. The retarded young guy taking orders and the lady cooking there are so stupid it's unbelievable. It was not ready the cook lady went into he fridge and took our raw chicken. Are you kidding me? I told him to give me the money back and she told me she didn't have time to make it. Why are you even open? What happen to customer service? Where is the person in charge? So disappointed. Do yourself a favor and get the yelp deal for Toné Georgian bread in Brighton Beach. Then get the adjaruli. The waiter was so nice and mixed it up for me (20 seconds btw) because I looked so perplexed by the raw egg. It cooks in the bread boat with the cheese and butter. Then you can dip pieces of the bread in it. Seriously one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. Wow. Disappointed in this restaurant as there aren't that many places to eat in Coney Island, which is why we had high hopes for this place. The portions are small. The lamb and eggplant stew dish was served without an accompaniment (rice, potatoes?) in a tiny pot. Portions aside, I can make more tender lamb in my pressure cooker at home. The famous dumplings were 1:5 meat to dough ratio. The slightly bizarre part was our order of bread. We waited for it for at least 45 minutes after we finished our meal (no exaggeration). It was good but the raw egg was really unappetizing. I was so taken aback by the sight of the completely raw egg that I asked our waitress if it was undercooked (and I mean to the point of transparent egg whites here) but she assured me it was the way they served it. The bread and cheese was good but I couldn't get over the snotty consistency of the raw egg dripping off of it. The only reason we waited for the bread was the pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant and our lovely waitress. For bread, a small entree, and dumplings, our bill came to $44, which is pricey for what this place is and the quantity and quality of the food they serve. read more

I'm annoyed because the day that I went in the huge fire pit had wooden slats over it, so assuming it was closed for repair I asked if the bread was fresh. However, if you're in a hurry, choose somewhere else. I shared an order of shashlik and a khachapuri adjaruli, both of which being very good and leaving me quite satisfied for the rest of the day. The service was bad, but as it was late in the afternoon on a weekday, it wasn't as bad as my second visit. My return trip came on a recent Saturday, and that time we had the phkali trio - a mix of eggplant, spinch and beans with walnuts and garlic - and khachapuri adjaruli. Lamb Khinkali (Georgian dumplings) and Khachapuri (cheese/butter/egg bread). If you check in via yelp while in store there good deal such as free khachapuri (different types) or appetitizer and so on. The food was tasty, very tasty. The waiter also told me they just got a license (3days ago$ for alcohol, aka Georgian wine that they currently only serve two expensive kinds but they're in the process of getting wide selections. I ordered the adjaruli, a triple dip type of dish ( can't recall the actual names) and garlic chicken with a touch of milk. The adjaruli was the winner! It was so good. Service is terrible but the food is great. Every time I have come here it is a struggle to get what I order and to get water and basic things. The server walks away and forgets to come back to you. We got down from the bus on Neptune Avenue and regretted as it was a hot hot day. Upon promptly yelping this place popped up and we perked as we were famished totally. When we reached this hole in the wall bakery we were surprised to see this old gentleman working so industriously inside a hearth like place. Reminded me so much of my home town in India only in a completely different setting. We bought the cheese bread and the fragrance was overpowering. Asa we put the pieces in our mouths it melted.
