I came to Tones Day Spa for a pre wedding facial and massage and had a phenomenal experience! Tone (the owner I believe) was so kind and even offered another special treatment since it was my wedding. My massage was amazing. I highly recommend Iris! She really knows how to work the body. I am docking one star because my facial was just okay. It felt like the esthetician wasn't as experienced. The facial was also scheduled for 50 minutes and she finished about ten minutes earlier, so I didn't her to have the full experience. She was friendly and polite though. Overall, definitely coming back. Their prices and customer service make it all worth it ! read more

My appointment was on July 10th, today is July 25th, 2 weeks after. Wanted to se how my armors would heal. I made my rsvp online for hard wax at 6pm. I get there at 5:58 and they made me wait until 6:30. When we go into the room, she starts putting the wax on me and it feels light; I asked her and told her that I booked hard wax; she says she is putting soft wax on me because it is better for armpits; I immediately knew things were off because it doesn't matter what is "better for armpits".. I BOOKED HARD WAX, I've always hard wax my armpits and never had 1 single issue. Okay, so the service continues and it is very painful and wax tech is very argumentative on the fact that hard wax is for areas below the waist and soft wax is above the waist. She also mentioned that it was very painful because I didn't trim my hair before going to the appointment, my hair was the size of a rice, if you know you know. Also, she isn't walking to the other side of the bed to apply the wax or remove it from my right armpit, instead she has me turning/tussling on the bed; like what kind of service is that? So it kept getting more painful on my right arm and I asked her to stop, and she started asking me to let her finish; I explained to her that I could not continue tolerating the pain and as a person with dark complexion, I'd like us to stop in order to avoid POST-INFLAMMATORY HYPERPIGMENTATION; she continues asking me to trust her, and I ask her to please remove the excess wax out of my armpits whether that's with alcohol or oil or whatever oil liquid solution she uses, and that I can go home with the hair on my armpits because literally it was not coming out and I wasn't going to continue going through that!! She continues begging me to let her finish and I am getting uncomfortable because I don't know who I'm dealing with anymore, like I don't know this person and if I'm asking you to stop a service, you should be able to do so in order to make me feel comfortable as the customer. So she proceeds to take paper scissors out of the drawer, what a scary moment! And she's like I'm just going to cut the hair, at that point, I wasn't even mentally processing anything and I let her cut the hair of my armpits, but I thought after how unsanitary that is, like they weren't hair scissors and they weren't sanitized. We finally finished the procedure and she's putting all sorts of oils and aloe vera because my skin was very irritated. Like I have never gotten these stupid arguments. Instead, whenever I go to any wax specialist, they educate me with information that makes logical sense. When I stood up and look at my armpits, they had red bruises. Look at the photos from July 10h; right after my appointment; I took the photos before I even left the spot. Then I took photos later at night and then I took photos a few days after. The photos that say today on the header are the photos that I took TODAY and as you can see, there is a lot of like hyperpigmentation all around my arm in areas that don't even grow hair because if you look at the photos on the day that I got Waxed, I have bruises on areas that I don't even grow hair. Insane. If you also look at the photos on the day that I got wax, you can see how clear my armpits are. The entire armpit was irritated, so the bruises are just the areas where the irritation was just too much. Therefore, the most recent photos, the entire armpit is dark, TODAY - again, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. All i have been doing is putting centella to help with inflammation. Spent a total of 7 hrs here for what was only supposed to be 5.5hrs. That tells you that they do not rush any services at all. I received: Shea Butter full body scrub- Not sure if she used a shea butter scrub bc it didn't smell like it but i didn't read any product info as my eyes were closed. It was a bit more abrasive than I'm used to but diff brands have a variety i am assuming. She did not scrub my neck nor chest at all. Still wondering why those areas were skipped. Rate it a 6.5/10 The bonus was being asked to get in a soaking tub to rinse off as opposed to the normal stand up shower. (Only critique, add petals to the water or maybe some essential oil) but i wasn't even expecting the tub so there's that. I was asked to lay back and relax. She rinsed the scrub off like i was a puppy and she didn't want to really touch me. As if to respect my privacy i guess. I was offered a mimosa as i was allowed to lay back for a while and relax in the warm water. Himalayan Hot Stone Massage: NOW THIS WAS THE PRIZE. Cant express it enough how awesome YADI was with her magical hands. It was by far one of the best massages i've ever had and i am hyper critical about spa services bc as you can imagine, im spending my hard earned money and i tip based upon the services. Tones signature facial + enzyme mask- Cool glow on my skin afterward. Felt nice. Only downside... i still have a blackhead. One that I couldn't wait for an esthetician to get to. She tried for sure. She said she didn't want to hurt me or cause any discoloration/marks. (Gotta see a dermatologist i guess). She was able to explain each step of the facial. I felt super clean and fresh. "Foot treatment" (not necessarily a treatment. Being honest its just a scrub of the feet and massage. That already comes with a scrub so why charge $65 for "45 min" (had to remind them that i paid for that) Nothing treating feet specifically like a soak or reflexology of any kind. Just a scrub rub and rinse with cream to moisturize in your feet and voila. The paraffin hand dip could have been left out as i prob needed that on my feet with the "foot treatment" more. I've been to tones about 5x now and i have noticed improvements to the treatment rooms that were once a lil dated. Its more refreshed and adds to the relaxation. Please note that while your services may not be on time regardless of appointment they do their best to accommodate. read more

I went with my Husband for a couples massage. The place is clean and not crowded. Before you go into the rooms you are asked to fill out a form. The form states weather or nor not you have any medical conditions prior to the services. We had two young ladies they were very quiet & professional. The room was serine & husband feel asleep through half of the massage. The beds were also heated which is good for this cold weather. We were offered water. I have two small complaints: -Maybe serve wine, juice, or tea -I didn't receive a receipt I'm guessing maybe we didn't get a receipt because we paid in cash and not with a credit card. Although when paying at the register I wasn't asked if I would like a receipt. I'm funny that way. Its ok that's why I gave 3 stars instead of 4. read more

I can't exactly recommend this place. I came for a hydra facial. the small whiteheads in my chin were carefully removed, most people don't do that area. The small blackhead around the nose all gone. But there was one pimple that should not have been worked over. It did not have a head. And was still on my face after I left. It was the only pimple on my face it was small. It had been three weeks and it looks like a "cigarette burn" on my face. At least that is what people keep telling me even when I'm not asking. It's bad enough where people are commenting. I was also grossly over charged my the receptionist. She did call me to rectify this issue about an hour after I left the store. But her response was a bit weird. "Why didn't you tell me if you knew I was overcharging you". I did not know but I was pissed at the register. I'm writing this review because I called the store days after saying the scar looks bad. I happy with the rest of my face but I would like you all to give me something to help it heal faster. I sent pics and the woman in charge said it will turn pink and come off. I had a feeling that was not the case. She also said to wash my face with only water, which I can't do that forever now then I will have more acne. I just started a bleaching gel 3 x week and bio oil 3 days a week. I get that aesthetics is not a science but my problem was that they are in the business of skincare and should have given me something to help heal my face. Which the owner or manager said she had something but I did not need it. I would consider going back there because otherwise I it was the best facial I have had in NY so far. My aesthetician was so nice. But the customer service in the front was my issue and the scar on my face. Lastly, I do still think there prices are too high, especially for the area. A+ service for my 1st Deep tissue massage from Tones Spa. I've been procrastinating for awhile. I'm a male 30+ yr w/an athletic build. I used to have little bothersome areas in my neck & lower back. This is probably do to training & just any overall stress build-up. Getting the Deep Tissue for the 55 mins made all that go away! I was pleasantly surprised & have told others about this location & they weren't familiar. This location is close to my home so I will be returning. Kathryn at the front desk was very inviting & told me not to worry about anything...and she was right! Felicia was my masseuse she was great. I could give this place a zero start but that's not an option. Came here for a couples treatment 1.5hours. When we got there it was no parking, it's only 1 parking space. Went inside the which was nice. Waited 30 minutes to be served, (they served us mimosas for waiting) then we didn't get our full treatment packed. Himalaya salt massage with paraffin hand treatment. The massages was amazing (Himalaya salt rocks) once we got to the front and I spoke to the owner, she told us to add the drinks to our service laughed and walked away. Once again I tried to speak to her and she was extremely rude and hung the phone up on me. This place is a shame and will charge you for things they don't provide. Be aware! read more

Pros: Easy to find. Cons: One parking spot available in a lot around the corner from the business and the list goes on..... 1) I called a day prior to see if a paraffin hand wax treatment could be given separately or was it only included in a package. I also asked if I needed to make an appointment beforehand. I was told I could come in as a walk-in and did not need to purchase a package. Yesterday I arrived at the establishment at 10:08am. The owner lists her opening time at 10:00am. While someone was vacuuming inside (shouldn't her business be cleaned at the end of each day to ensure she opens the following day on time?), her doors were locked. The owner claimed she was picking up something from down the street and the doors were not opened until she arrived at 10:37am. 2) I was told I would have to wait 20 minutes for the wax to heat but was not called for my treatment until 11:42am. I began to call other establishments in the area that offered the treatment because I knew I was not returning here for my next treatment. 3) After a few minutes I was fed up with the customer service the owner had displayed since my arrival at 10:08am and decided to peel the wax off myself. I eventually paid and left because I had to bring my boyfriend to work. He couldn't believe I was there for almost two hours. I have always been hesitant about service in the Bronx and this experience reminded me I need to stick to Westchester or Manhattan for excellent customer service and an array of services. I had a long drawn out review that I decided to delete. I had high hopes for this place. It needs some polishing. The owner, who was there, was a bit unprofessional. I had a SURPRISE birthday treat there given to me by friends. The owner was discussing payment right in my face. Tacky. While receiving a massage, the guy (a Hispanic male) commented on my tattoos. This made me very uncomfortable. Discussing anything on a person's body while they're receiving BODY treatment services is disgusting. I'm naked and it shouldn't matter to you. Not a relaxing experience at all. It's really sad that I can not receive high quality services in the Bronx. Living up to it's bad name. I will continue going where I go. To make things worse, I'm reading other reviews, and what's supposed to be "customer service" is making failed attempts at discrediting people's reviews. That is so so tacky. If I could give 0 stars I would! I went in for lash extensions and vacuum butt therapy back in March 2018. It was two days before my trip to Miami. I spent 100 something for lashes that looked like crap because they fell off within a week. It wasn't because I didn't know how to take care of them because other lash places lashes 3 weeks to even a month! The vacuum butt therapy was a disaster! I was left permanently scarred with a huge gash and blistered skin. When I got home, I was in so much pain! The lady had put the cup on wrong on my butt. Took it off after the session and I was left with two red circles. The worse! I still have a scar months later and was looking into suing but I couldn't afford a lawyer and since this wasn't a hospital or doctors office, a lot of the free lawyers said I would have to pay out of pocket. Here's a picture of my ass! Oh and I cried the whole time in Miami! Couldn't wear a bikini or anything! Attached is the huge gash I had and also the scar I still have almost a year later! *Update to my March 23, 2014 review* I saw that the owner, Anna M, responded to my review a year and a half after I posted it (see below) and I was quite taken aback by this spa's lack of customer service and courtesy. I believe that Tones Spa feels threatened by my honest and accurate review and is thus attempting to discredit me. First of all, I am surprised that you remember the details from our brief encounter over a year ago. I don't remember exactly what was said, but I do remember a discussion about the online reservation system. This still does not change the fact that I reserved online and received a confirmation email from Tones Spa which I posted in the pictures section. If there were issues with the system, why was it still set up and accepting credit card payment? You should check your records first before making such a bold statement as "you did not receive a email confirmation from Tones Day Spa" when in fact I did and have the email to prove it. I can gladly walk over to your spa on my lunch time to show you or forward the email if you would give me your email address. I am sorry that you feel embarrassed that you were not ready for us when we arrived for our appointment, but the tone in your response is very inappropriate. Do not use exclamation points in your responses to customers. The appropriate thing to do is apologize to your customers and promise to make things better. It gets one star because I can't give it a negative. I try to support my neighborhood and this is what I get smh. This best kept secret needs to stay a secret. First of all, I went for a facial and the room I was put in had a Piece of board with pillows laid across it as a bed. The sheets and pillow cases were dingy. Worst of all the esthetician didn't know what the hell she was doing. All she did was use 2 kinds of toner on my face and call it a facial. I spent waaaay too much money to get dollar store toner wiped on and off my face. There was no extractions, she didn't tell me what the products were that she was using until I asked. She did absolutely nothing!!! I am so upset that I lost so much money on this foolishness. Came here for a facial and massage and the space looked clean and professional. Diana my esthetician didn't communicate what she was doing so I had to ask what each product was because I have allergies but there was a language barrier. The extractions were very painful. I wouldn't get a facial from her again. She told me to take out my nose ring and then ended up losing it because she didn't remind me before headed into the massage. The owner offered to reimburse me for a new one and told me to buy something I like but then said she'd only give me $20 for the lost jewelry. I accepted the offer even though I paid $50+ but still have yet to receive anything and it's unfortunate they made a promise and then didn't follow up with urgency. I really wanted to support a small owned business in the Bronx but I'll have to go to the city next time. Besides that the massage was decent. I must say being that i have had plenty of massages at different locations never in the bronx and i was pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgable, its bigger inside than it looks from outside. They offer a lot of services that i didn't expect. The only thing that NEEDS to be fixed up is the sound proofing of the massage rooms, you could hear people laughing and talking out front which makes it hard to be in that total relaxed state when your receiving a massage. Im so used to that even the workers talking quietly all adds to the ambience of the spa experience. Manny and Yesbel were excellent therapist. I've been going to Tone Day Spa for some-time now and when I first started going it was great, the noise level was low, and the girls were consistent. As I've been going the noise has been a bit louder, and the girls are like a revolving door. I went for a massage yesterday and I was just a little disappointed that in the room next door they were building some new furniture items they received. Overall the young lady Melissa was very nice and her massage was great, I enjoyed her massage. In the middle of one of my treatments, I think the owner!!! and someone was having a annoyingly LOUD conversation in the next room!! Can you imagine???
