Now... This was a few years ago, so perhaps things have changed... But I don't think these types of establishments should get forgiveness. The late aura of this "fine" establishment entices the out too late and couldn't get to sleep if they wanted to alike. The long bathroom lines are only shortened when sniffing, glossy-eyed, patrons are done with their business. This bar, however, gave me a night I will never forget. In 2005 a friend and I wandered in for a late night nightcap. Approximately 15 seconds after entering both my friend and I were "sucker-punched" without warning or instance. Granted this much may have not been the fault of the bar itself, but their actions that followed on their part was deplorable at best. As my friend and I bled from our faces profusely, the bouncer tried to force us out of the bar with the statement "you're bleeding on the floor." Additionally, he was very quick to clean it up, assumabley not for hygiene purposes as they are clearly not concerned with such manners. Additionally, the management did not even try to cooperate with the detective sent to investigate the crime. They simply had no recollection of anyone getting, the police showing up, or two patrons leaving in an ambulance. Well, after a bit of self financed reconstructive surgery I thought I would share with all the fine people in the cyber review world. Like I said things may have changed in the five years but it's probably not worth the risk to enter a bar that will glad take your money and than leave you out to die. read more

Because it was Sunday, and all the hotel nightlife dies before 2am---my new found very friendly man and I took a short walk from Silver Legacy to Tonic Lounge. We were greeted by a punk rock Midwesterner bartender (and I only know because he saw my ID from Wisconsin and we bonded) who was very polite and threw on some dancing tunes for me and my one night beau to dance to for the next three hours. As described by some: Martini lounge with San Francisco/New York-style atmosphere. Open seven days a week featuring live DJs Tuesday-Saturday and late Happy Hour 8-10 pm. Went here in June for a roadtrip as one of the AuraSF DJs was spinning here. The vibe was really cool. A really fun night. Most of the time when I visit Reno, I stick to entertainment in the Casinos but this time I strayed off to where the "locals go". Definitely made it a "different" kind of Reno experience for me. Bartender was very friendly not on his high horse like some other bars. Last night me and my friend went there lil too early so there was no one but us. I ordered Cosmo, dry martini and something else I forgot, at the end I didn't know what to drink anymore and I wanted to try something new, so I asked the bartender to make me something he likes, so he made me Dark and Stormy, it tasted awesome! I was just here supporting one of my DJ friends spinning on a saturday night (Shift)- underground house music, and after reading reviews before going here, i new i had to experience for myself. Its not a fancy club with high end decor/furniture where a dress code is enforced. Its a lounge/ after hours spot thats real casual-basic/ lighting/ sound is ok. Staff was kool and friendly along with the vibe since i came from out of town.. My only dislike about the place was that there is smoking allowed inside which i don't smoke and could only stand it for so long as I had to leave. Otherwise i would have stayed longer.. Coming from the Bay Area/club and underground scene, i have been used to seeing the smoking section outside and or in a designated area with good ventilation. There was no cover charge when we got there around 12midnight so not sure when they do or if they still charge on certain nights as others have mentioned. If they ever decide to not allow smoking inside, then i don't mind going back, but if your a smoker and or don't mind it then its a place to check out.. read more

I have watched this place evolve for years as a local. It is definitely on the list of go to spots on a weekend night if you are gallivanting the downtown area. I always loved the more locals love hometown feel the week nights would bring in my early o"of age" years. Haven't been a regular for some time now but still love that I can feel at home & safe there every time I do walk through those door. The owner is one of the sweetest people I know locally. He has always worked to make sure to have caring, quick, efficient staff on the bar. Tasty drink specials on the menu & music to provide. Bartenders are the rudest. You pretty much have to kiss ass to get good service. If they don't like the way you are, they will refuse service. Ricky guy always tries to rush people and the other small girl is always thinking she getting hit on. I've see people getting kicked out for the slightest inconvenience on them. I know they work for tips but they would seriously never serve you if you don't tip at all. I used to enjoy going in there, getting a drink and just do me. But I always feel like I can't do nothing or say anything because they will get mad and kick me out. read more

Went in with my friends for the zombie crawl they didn't honor the designated driver wrist band. The were charging $3 for tiny juice shots not even with alcohol. My friend order some drink that tasted horrible he poured it out and we left. They should not be included in the crawl. This isn't a bad downtown bar, considering the altenatives are lame hip-hop/ dance "clubs" and dirthead bars (like the place next door to tonic- I love dive bars as much as anybody, but tweaker bars? no thanks). A long narrow space with seating along the wall on the side opposite of the bar and then a couple circular booths along the dance floor. Stage at the end and then the bafroooms at the end of the hall in the back. The layout works well enough and on the weekends when it's all busy n' shit, it's pretty easy to navigate around (for example, to head the the bathrooom to do some coke). Bands play often and then usually a dj after to spin records for everyone because by then they're all coked out of their skulls and ready to get their DANCE ON! They have a late happy hour from like 7-10 pm. Bud draft (I think) and a shot of Jameson for 3.50. Deal! Esp in these hard times...after drinking my 40, it's fun to come down here and rage some more. Not bad, bartenders are cool enough- a couple goons, but what do you expect- this is reno. No jukebox, condom machine, darts, or anything. 1 large TV on each side of the bar playing movies usually.
