I have a VW that was in need of service. I didn't know anyone around here but the Scott Dealership, which has the nicest lobby I've ever seen, but high prices. My neighbor recommended this place to me, said he's been going there for years, and all his cars are Volvos or VW's. He's pretty frugal and knows cars, he does a lot of repairs himself, so I figured they had to be good. Well, a few days ago I started smelling a burning wax/ plastic-y smell whenever I drove my car. I called Tony yesterday and he told me to come right over. He immediately knew what the problem was: I had run over a plastic shopping bag while the engine was hot, and it had melted onto the bottom of the car! So, they put it on the lift, and scraped it off my car, also checked all my fluids and topped off the windshield washer fluid, all for free and done in 15 minutes.
I needed an oil change and new tires, and I needed it done before the end of the week. They did it right then and there. I waited in their office for a couple of hours, and it was done. Runs great, they realigned it and did a great job. I would definitely go back there for oil changes and repairs. Their office is not very comfortable, but I don't think they have a lot of people waiting around while their cars are serviced. It's got a tv and a few chairs, but is pretty cramped. The Pawtucket Salvation Army is right across the street, and there are a bunch of other little shops if you need to kill some time. I wouldn't say they are cheap, but their the prices are reasonable, they seem honest, and the service is fast, professional and competent. read more
