Tony is a gem -- a master at his craft and a warm, genuine, and thoughtful guy. Ask him and he might show you his photos from decades past...he won the state barbering championships back in 1969! My first cut with Tony a few years ago led to several compliments from friends and coworkers and I can't imagine getting my hair cut with anyone else in the Bay Area. He will patiently listen to what you want and will work with you to get your cut just right. He's also a great conversationalist with an encyclopedia of stories from his decades of living in SF. Absolute hidden gem. After going to an old-style Italian barber shop in the previous city I lived in, I researched hard to find a similar experience in San Francisco. Upon first glance on Yelp, all I could find were shops that appeared more like chains and focused on things like free beer and beard trimming. What I wanted was a no-frills barber shop with someone local skilled in their craft that provided a great haircut and was fun and memorable to go to. Tony is a really, really talented barber. I used to live in Italy so sought out an Italian barber when I moved to SF. They are well trained and take their craft seriously. Tony started cutting hair in Palermo before moving to SF. He is just so talented - he uses a variety of scissors, knows exactly what will look good on you, and truly understands hair. CLASS. That's the best word to describe Tony as a whole. I found Tony after getting tired of the inconsistence at Public and decided to try someone else. Instead of going to one of the neo-hipster barbershop specializing in retro cuts, hardline parts and a general resurgence of 60's styling I decided to go to a guy who cut hair before, during and after that time period. Tony is 1000% Italian and it's great, specially in North Beach. He's lived in the city forever and can tell you stories forever. Cut: LET HIM RECOMMEND WHAT YOU NEED. Tony actually looks at your head, the shape, the hair growth patterns and then gives you a cut that you need, not the one you think you want. He knows how to do this and has been doing so for years, trust the man. I was skeptical at first, but after 2 years I just sit down and let the man do his thing. Best part is that your cut will look good with product in & without. Easily the best Men's haircut in SF. Tony is a master of his craft and knows what he is doing. It is really that simple. Also for the haircut he gives, quite affordable. Lastly, he is the man. A lot of times you sit down to a haircut and it is forced conversation. I look forward to going in and chatting with Tony. He has been in SF for a long time and has a lot of knowledge on the area. I've seen Tony every month since I moved to SF 7 years ago. Not only is he a great barber, but he's become a wonderful friend. He's incredibly responsive when you call and will find a time that works for you. He has amazing attention to detail and will see and fix things I never would have noticed. It's no surprise that he's had many of his clients for decades. Tony is classic San Francisco and a North Beach treasure.
