I was recommended to Dr. Chung's office to get a panoramic x-ray for wisdom tooth removal. On my visit, Dr. Michael was incredibly helpful and informative. I went in for a panoramic x-ray, but they also took a CT scan. They did not charge me for this work, but they did not inform me nor my insurance of it. Unfortunately, with the overall cost through my insurance coverage, I was not able to use Dr. Chung's office for wisdom tooth removal. USC provided a much more affordable alternative. USC requested my panoramic x-ray and, upon my consultation, asked for the CT scan Dr. Chung's office took as well. I called this office and they said I could come in and get the CT scan downloaded on a flash drive. I went out, paid $25 for a flash drive, and drove to Burbank where I was told that, because I was not charged for the CT scan previously I could not leave with the file without paying them $175. USC would take a CT scan for $50. I let the administration office know this, that they can either help me (after they made me waste money on a flash drive) or leave me out to dry. When confronted with the choice, they refused to provide me with my scans. Scans that were taken without my knowledge/consent. Scans they ultimately have no use for themselves. The only stated reason being, "sorry, I just work here, I don't make company policy." On my first visit, I heard an elderly man yelling at the administration office about ridiculous, unnecessary charges. I didn't know what was going on at the time, but now it makes sense. It's hard to find a trustworthy dental clinic in Los Angeles. If you want somewhere that will show you a shred of humanity, you may want to look elsewhere. With these kinds of practices, I wouldn't let them anywhere closer to my mouth than I already have. read more

FABULOUS!! I called 66 dentists in two days looking for an oral surgeon before this doctor was recommended by a friend. My husband is so picky about doctors, the doctors there were wonderful! They took care of him quickly and with little pain for an extraction. They were very concerned about after office care also. Everyone there was so kind and polite. Overall BEST dental visit with my husband EVER!!! He has seen some horrible dentists before, but not here they were WONDERFUL!! Will definitely be going back when necessary! I needed to get my upper two wisdom teeth removed, plus an extra tooth beneath the roof of my tongue. This office is great! Friendly and fast staff who got me checked in for my appointments. They provided a lot of information for my appointments. Dr. Chung is very knowledgable and informed me of everything I needed to know for my procedure. Post-op, I didn't feel a lick of pain compared to when I got my bottom wisdom teeth removed the year prior. I had bit my tongue and damaged it badly. Unfortunately for me I waited a week which made the repair harder. Needed to have it stitched up and they got me in the next day after another doctor reached out to them for me. They did excellent work and were very kind. I was referred by my general dentist Monday, I was suffering all weekend long they managed to get the following day Tuesday. I was a nervous wreck Dr Chung explained everything to me had my sister in the room to listen in as well. From the moment he took me under his care I felt a sense of calm he made sure I was okay I was comfortable, not once did I feel I was just another number or how much is insurance going to pay thatll depend on his hospitality towards me. His staff was excellent as well his assistant had such a great sense of taking care of me putting me to ease! Wisdom teeth extractions have such a horrible rep but having a dentist and a staff that cared so much to get me pain relief sure made a difference. I opted to be put under and again Dr. Chung talked me thru all the steps I dont remember when I completely went under by the time it was done he gave me his arm to walk me out ensured I was okay! I mean what dentist really does that they want your money and kick you right!? I highly recommend him and his office for any oral surgery you may need. I was referred by my dentist to Dr. Chung, because I needed to remove my 4 wisdom teeth. I could barely open my mouth and it was hurting me so bad. I had my appointment on Tuesday and he said I'll have my surgery on Thursday last week. That was really quick. They've been able to schedule me earlier than I thought without having much any problem. On the day of my surgery, I told them I was quite nervous about it considering I haven't done any surgery before. He took my vitals and tell me that my heart rate was beating up so fast. He put me on IV telling me that the medicine will take effect in 20 seconds and boom, I knocked out. When I woke up, it was him standing in front of me saying that it's all done. I was stunned for a second because I literally didn't feel anything. I would highly recommend Dr. Chung to anyone who's having a problem with their wisdom teeth. He's is very knowledgeable, has an excellent service and his staff are dedicated to providing care for their clients. read more

This was my first experience with an oral surgeon. I was extremely anxious since I had two impacted wisdom teeth and the cost was expensive even with dental insurance. Mr. Chung- though serious, was very thorough in explaining the procedure in depth. He definitely put everything into perspective. I chose to be put out while the procedure was being done and when I woke up, I realized he was extremely skilled because it took a total of 15 minutes and my cheeks barely got swollen! As a side note, I am terrified of the dentist and always have been. I can assure anyone that this place doesn't seem like a dentist's office at all. No gross smell either! read more

Dr Chung explained the entire lower tooth extraction procedure in detail before he started. The extraction went exactly the way he described it except for the pain.....There wasn't any. I took one extra strength Tylenol when I got home and that was it. If you need a tooth extracted this is the place to go. read more

Dr Chung extracted my son's tooth several years ago, his wisdom teeth recently and I had an extraction from a cracked tooth two weeks ago. Dr Chung is very open, honest and explains what to expect during the procedure and post operative. I have some anxiety with tooth pain and work but Dr Chung's calm manner made feel comfortable. My experience is based on the treatment I received after the surgery. The surgery itself went good, I didn't feel any pain and it went by fast. I was put to sleep and when I was waking up I thought the anesthesia was not working but to my surprise the Mr.Chung said "all done". On the 4th day after surgery the pain increased instead of decreasing I took my medication and it did help. However, on the 6th day I was still in severe pain and at this point I was concern. From what I read the pain should start to decrease instead of increase. I know everyone's body heals differently but I couldn't help to feel panicky. On this day I was able to open my mouth more and I took a look at the back of my mouth and saw something unusually. As panicky as I was getting I thought their was piece of tooth left behind. It only made sence in my head this is the reason I am perhaps feeling the sever pain. I immediately called the office early morning and left vm and informed of what I thought it was. I received a called back as soon as they open . The receptionist said i can come in that same day or wait for my follow up the following day. I responded and asked to come in that same day as I was in severe pain. I arrived to the dentist and waiting to be seen I was put into a room. Mr.Chung walks in and I can tell he looked upset I said "Hi" he doesn't respond and he immediately says with angry tone of what's going on you are day 5 of the surgery? (I had my surgery on 12/12 but that's besides the point.) I did not have time to respond because he goes directly into mouth to take a look and said again with a very angry tone those are stitches you are seen as he is closing the door and immediately started scolding me and stating you just has surgery with very loud and angry tone. I started to feel like a child sitting there wanting to cry. The state of vulnerability that I was already in did not help. It was so unprofessional to be treated in that way. I understand he took it personal as I am aware he felt I was questioning his practice but that was not my intention. As a professional practitioner one should try to set aside their emotions and treat there patience with respect and care and sympathy. Perhaps it is time to take a vacation. read more

I recently was referred to this oral surgeon from a local dentist. I have post traumatic stress from past surgeries and doctors visits and am terrified of going to the doctor/dentist, so I put off getting my tooth pulled for 2 years until it got too painful to ignore. I told myself I would leave if the facility seemed sketchy in any way but when I got there it was clean and nice and I don't think I have ever felt taken care of before until now. I had a quick painless extraction. This man is so knowledgeable and professional. My tooth was badly decayed but he got it all out in one piece and before I thought we even started. Dr. Chung is AMAZING. He talks you through the procedure before at the consultation and during the actual procedure. He is very sweet and genuinely cares about his patients comfortability and care. A super steady hand makes for the best outcome. The front desk also shows immense hospitality - talking through the after care and what to expect. I got all four wisdom teeth removed, and this is the first day of healing, so coming from me I think that shows just how amazing Dr. Chung is at what he does. He's been in practice for many years and to book an appointment - you're looking into at least two weeks, which I think is proof of how good he is. His assistant, Maria, was also very pleasant and good at what she does. Great team. Wouldn't have wanted to go through this sometimes awful experience with any other team. The doctor explained the procedure thoroughly and reassured me that even if the tooth should break it would present no problem for him to remove. I was referred by my general dentist to Dr. Chung to have my two lower wisdom extracted. I was so scared cause I have never been put to sleep ever for a procedure especially for oral surgery. I had the consultation with Dr. Chung and he explained what was gonna happen right down to the "t". With everything said and done, I made the appointment for the procedure on a Wednesday and when I got to the office I was still a little apprehensive, then as soon as I walked in to start the procedure, I sat in the chair and Dr. Chung started to take my vitals and knew I was still a little nervous cause of my blood pressure, and he said it's normal for people to be nervous for this procedure. And we even laughed because all the dental instruments were out but they were covered, and he even told me, dnt look at anything over here, then I even told him ok I will just close my eyes. That to me took all my nerves out the window. So as he was prepping me with the I.v, he even told me, ok the medicine will take 20 seconds to set in and then I knocked out. Before I knew it he was him waking my up and saying it was all done. I honesty am so so happy that I got this done, cause I feel no pain whatsoever, little bit of swelling.
