Update: This is now the second time we've tried going there & they were closed when they said they should be open. They need to update their hours if they want any business. Our new favorite ice cream spot! We were stoked when they opened back up & so far have loved all 3 flavors we've tried. Our pups loved their pup cups as well & that was a huge bonus for us- vanilla & pb topping! It hasn't been too busy when we've gone so we've been able to find parking in the lot but there's only a few spots so I imagine it will get more difficult in summer. Everyone loves ice cream ... but ice cream with hilarious names?! Even better! Super tiny ice cream place with delicious and fun ice cream flavors. I have celiac disease, and although they can't guarantee cross contamination, they were super accommodating. My go to has been the Curious George - many other flavors have gluten in them. I can't believe there aren't long lines every day at all hours! The chowder is loaded with clams- the potatoes, celery and carrots in it are fresh, no question. I don't even usually eat creamy chowder but make an exception here. The price is only $4.50 for a big serving. I also don't eat hamburgers out anymore. Except here. Grass fed beef on brioche with fresh lettuce, tomato and their own pickled onions. $4. Are you kidding me? I would pay double for both those items. The ice cream I've tried is delicious, almost too rich. I like the changing of flavors. The staff is friendly and happy. I know everyone misses Frosty Treat (me too) but it's so cool to be able to get fast, great ingredient food in Niantic without having to put good clothes on. Pretty good, but not the best. I had the Oreo cake batter and was disappointed I didn't taste any Oreo, or had any Oreo chunks. Because you don't know exactly what you're getting yourself into with flavors like Cake by the Ocean or Cin City, Tony offers generous tastings that he puts in mini cones. When you've picked your poison - mine was Perry's Pecan - he gives a generous portion, which you happily eat. First, they've taken a gourmet spin on the classic Connecticut Lobster Roll (the hot lobster roll) and have added tarragon and garlic, and placed it on a potato roll. My daughter got "Coco Chanel" ice cream, which was flavored with toasted coconut; I opted for two scoops of "Marie Antoinette," which was a very subtle raspberry flavor with Chambord. It's a hard "no!" They have no hours posted. I relied on Yelp. I was there at 11:50, and the closed sign was in the window. The two workers would not even acknowledge me nor the other customer who had also just arrived. I finally got her to shout through the window, "ten more minutes." I decided to wait since I had come to town just to try the ice cream. The other guy got in his truck and left. At 12:00, one of them finally opened the window and changed the sign to "open." Then, she walked away! I waited another two minutes for her to come take my order. I ordered two scoops in a cup: Foster the People (Banana) and Marie Antoinette (Raspberry). Then, she disappeared again! She was gone for five minutes. In that time, two other customers came and left. She finally came back with my ice cream. This hard ice cream has a whole other definition of "hard." It was too hard to eat with the plastic spoon they gave me. I felt like an animal working for my food. Then I realized what took her so long. She had to put in a lot of elbow grease to "scoop" that ice cream, which was in no way scooped. It was of just mashed into the cup. The raspberry was on top. I'm not sure what it tasted like; but what I am sure it did not taste at all like was raspberry. The banana was underneath. It did have a good flavor. This was the absolute only redeeming quality of this experience and the part that earns the single star. Absent of the flavor of the banana ice cream, it would have been a no-star experience.
