Good food...great prices compared to surrounding restaurants. Have had help problems since Covid.

Hi, I love BBQ ribs, especially meaty and succulent tasting ribs! So I stopped by the patio with a friend on Wednesday the 5th to enjoy a rib dinner and also take a rib dinner home. I was so very disappointed in both the rib dinners. So very very little meat on the ribs, just bones mostly and no BBQ sauce on the take home ribs. I purchased full racks on each order. I was given the lower end of the rib racks instead of the meatier top end. I spent a lot of money on both whole rack rib orders. I will not be coming to Tony Roma's anymore. Joan T. read more

Went there on Sunday night. First thing I noticed was the 3 hostesses all with bad looks on their faces. Ordered the famous ribs along with a Caesar salad. The salad wasn't bad but after eating the salad within 2 minutes the ribs came out! This is one of my pet peeves, when restaurants don't space out the meal. Anyway contacted the manager who said he would take off the salad. As far as the food goes, it was average at best, a little better than Applebee's, the BBQ sauce was weak at best. After getting the bill for the meal, noticed the salad wasn't taken off, so had to contact the manager again. Also, within 2 feet of our meal were a variety of dead flys. Told the manager about this and he just replied, "we are working on the problem." If anything shouldn't they be checking the area for dead flys ? Oh well, next time we will just go to Taco Bell! read more

We had a delightful meal thanks in large part to our server Cody. He was very polished and professional with a great sense of humor. He had lots of recommendations for us. We took him up on the filet medallions and 1/2 rack of ribs. Both were amazing. We both preferred the smoky barbecue sauce. The side of broccoli was not over cooked. We will be back! Side note we had been here about 8 years ago and had a bed experience. We are so glad that we gave it a fresh try. Sorry, forgot to take a picture. read more

Came here twice. Once we came for drinks to catch up with family. The drinks came very quickly and the bartender was very nice. When you get a margarita, you get the leftovers in the shaker so that's very nice. But we came down from the hotel to get breakfast. First we asked both the hotel and the restaurant what we could get on the menu for the discount and they both said 'anything on the menu.' Alright. Sweet. We come in and they give us a small menu with about six items. We ordered our food and waited a good while to get our food and even longer for a refill of my drink. I didn't enjoy my food at all. The eggs tasted like rubber, the bacon was good, and the potatoes were amazing. The waitress did give us a weird look when we asked for butter. 'There's already butter on the toast.' We'll, uh, can we get more??? So if I wasn't catching up with family, I would've walked out because of the long wait on the food. While we were sitting here we saw two families walk out. Food ok. Service at a snail's pace. They FORGOT my four year old's meal. Completely. Then all wait staff disappeared. I had to go the the hostess to ask about it. Then they did finally bring his meal, 15 minutes after the rest of the family. Word to the wise, NEVER forget the child's meal. Bring it first instead!!!!! He was too tired and hungry by that time. We stayed at the Grand Harbor for a little one night getaway with the family and went to Tony Roma's for dinner. The service was good and the food was as expected. The sweet potato fries with brown sugar and maple butter is a must try if you visit. Depending on the tone of year and weather, you can sit outside and enjoy a view of the mighty Mississippi River with a cocktail or two as well. We came back in the morning for a breakfast buffet and it was a decent spread at a great price. read more

The food was good but the service was terrible. We stopped in on Sunday evening, they weren't busy at all. There were five of us and once we were seated we waited quite 3while for a server. When he did come and take drink orders he brought the sodas right away ( no straws) had to wait a long time for the bar drinks. Brought the appetizers without plates. Never asked if we wanted water. We asked another server. All in all a pretty good meal but a poor dining experience. read more

The good: sharable-sized portions of the potato skins (for two, maybe three people). The ambiance wasn't bad - they didn't crowd everyone together, and one of the walls had a hypnotizing light show (it amused me, anyway, but I could see it being annoying if I was across from it). The bad: 1) The skins needed salt. I think they could have done with some ketchup or other sauce, but all they came with was sour cream. 2) The waitress forgot my husband's salad. She didn't offer a second side, and we were not compensated for the missing food. 3) The size of my husband's filets were shockingly small for the price ($20). I'm talking: two of the three were barely larger than a half dollar coin (and cut fairly thin, so if they were much more than 2oz of meat each, I'd be surprised). The mashed potato portion was ok under normal circumstances, but he had more potatoes than he had meat! I ended up giving him one of my filets (which were a normal size), but made both of us sad. 4) I ordered the filet and rib combo (for $22). The filet that I got to eat was ok - nothing to write home about, except that it was actually cooked properly (deathglare to almost every place else in town, which believes that rare means medium). It came with the wine sauce, and it was meh. The mashed potatoes and broccoli were ok. The ribs were not that good, but I was starving and ate them anyway. 5) The service, in general, was really, really slow. We were there for almost two hours, and it was almost all waiting for food (given the tiny portion size for the price!). 6) Before getting to my car, my stomach started gurgling the death march. Never a good sign when you've got gas issues minutes of leaving - even less so when you get stuck behind the train. :s All in all? We spent $57 for a bad meal with worse service. Honestly, for that price, you should just walk across the parking lot to Woodfire Grill. While staying at the attached hotel, we decided it would be easy to just stop in for a drink and a bite for dinner about 7:30pm. There were several young girls at the hostess stand but we just headed for the bar. While walking through the restaurant, it was FILTHY! I assume the early dinner rush had just finished but where were the bus people and why couldn't the gaggle of girls start cleaning up the tables?? Not a good impression at all. The bartender was surly and short with us so we had one quick drink and fled the scene. Really a shame because of the beautiful patio with a great river view would've been really nice for dinner but we found Timmerman's Supper Club with an even better view and outstanding service for the same per plate costs. We enjoy Tony Romas food but the service is not very good. We came in for drinks and lunch. We waited for a hostess there were the servers that walked by us and didnt acknowlege we were there. We wanted to have drinks outside the come in to eat after the rest of our party got here. We sat at the bar because the table we asked for outside was given to someone else. Our bartender was nice though forgot our beer chasers for our bloody marry. We had to ask for them after she came back after 10 minutes. A father and his daughter were seated close to us and no one attended to them. He had to go find a sever. The hostess had not let the server know they had a table. Absolutely the worst service I have ever had at any restaurant in Dubuque Iowa asked for a Panini and was served cold cuts with mayonnaise sauce on toasted bread. Food took at least 30 minutes sent the food back and was brought a burger after another 30 minute wait don't waste your time at this restaurant it is terrible! read more

Not bad, not good, on the rocks is not up. Mashed potatoes were room temp at best. Ribs are not peeled. Server didn't care. Why do I come here every time I'm in Dubuque? Because their with in walking distance of my room. Please get better so I can stop resenting eating here. read more

My husband and I we were there last Friday evening and had a great meal at the bar. We both had the ribs and steak combo. The service stunk, we felt ignored and as if we were inconveniencing the bartender. Other servers and customers were waiting forever too. It was ridiculous. read more

Tony Roma's an upscale restaraunt!?!?!...ROFLMAO.... I guess....since Dubuque doesn't have much to offer as far as upscale goes. The finger lickin good ribs and their kick'n shrimp is what you'll have to order at this place. If dining in, be sure to request for a table where you can look out and admire the Mississippi river. Service is friendly. Parking is plenty. Stomach will be happy. read more

I'm generally not a huge fan of chain restaurants, but I actually made a run to Tony Roma's for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. The omelet was good, the hash browns were tasty and well cooked, and the coffee was, well, hot. Service was surprisingly good, and the view looking towards the Mississippi was wonderful. I'm not sure this will put my other favorite breakfast places in Jeopardy, but it was good for a change of pace. -------- Update: I must confess that (shockingly) Tony Roma's has steadily become my favorite place to get breakfast. I strongly recommend the Three Cheese Meat Lover's Omelette. I wish they have better toast options (you can get wheat or white), but otherwise I'm quite a fan. Terrible food and even worse service. Mojo chicken was dry and cold, had no flavor. The pineapple salsa tasted of ginger more than pineapple, green beans were shriveled up and looked as though they had been reheated numerous times. The woman who was our server was just a bucket of sunshine, I really don't know how she was hired. She was really short with us and had no personality. One word answers was all we received. Visited this restaurant as its in the hotel we are staying. Very overpriced and food was nothing special. Nothing impressive but conveniently located. We ordered shrimp scampi (not much flovor) fettuccine alfredo(good flavor) Buffalo chicken bites(wierd texture) spinach artichoke dip(horrible) baby back ribs(great sauce) cheesecake and cookie sandwich. Late spring is the perfect time to enjoy your meal on their outdoor patio. We had a nice evening taking in the great weather! That sure made up for the average service and food. Forgotten drink orders, food not coming out on time together were just a couple things that made the service below average. I had the salmon and it was over cooked and dry. The rib order at our table did get high marks. It says ribs steaks and seafood in their logo but I would stick with the ribs or steaks. We came at 8pm on a Friday to a nearly empty restaurant. Jess was friendly but service was super slow. A few things were good . The baked potato soup, my steak and shrimp was pretty good. My friends chicken florentine alfredo had no sauce. (Was better when she added more) They don't have shredded parmesan but jess was nice enough to get us asiago shredded cheese. Only problem took awhile. We actually joked does she have to get everything from the casino or swim across the Mississippi. The other pasta dish was fair cajun lobster pasta. Fast forward to the morning. You are held hostage by a breakfast buffet. No where in this huge hotel can you buy food except tony Roma or a vending machine. We stayed in the hotel where the restaurant is located for my godson's wedding. A great time was had by all. My family had been to a Tony Roma's location in Cleveland years ago and always talked about how good it was. I was looking forward to visiting the restaurant on our trip and they didn't disappoint! We had the St. Louis ribs and the original sauce. DELICIOUS! And so tender! Everything was really great! My sister said they were her favorite ribs! Holie was our server and she was terrific! So friendly and helpful. When we were nearly done eating we asked if they had their sauce available for sale and they do! We liked the ribs so much that we bought a duplicate lunch to take home with us. My only downside to this restaurant is they don't have a location near the Chicago burbs where we live. But I have to admit, With Tony Roma's, and the Field of Dreams Movie site nearby and all the activities in the area, I'd make the three hour trip from home to visit again! Located on the second floor of the Grand Harbor Resort (on the river across from the Diamond Jo Casino). You can enter form the lobby or with an outdoor separate entrance with stairs and elevator. Over looks the river and bridges with nice views. Nice warm decor and atmosphere. Tables and booths are not 'stacked' upon each other. Bar/Lounge area is nice as well. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Food is higher priced then some places of similar fair but all on average. Maybe a lil more then like an Applebee, Olive Garden. Decent menu and choices, food was again on par with the Applebees and a bit above. They end the meal with ice cream for the kids, mints, and hot toilettes. It is convenient if at the resort and water park. I would re-visit. read more

I read some reviews that said the service was bad but my waiter was attentive I didn't have to wait long at all. We requested outside seating because of the nice view of the river. Stopped in for lunch during a conference. Was quickly seated and well attended to by the bartender (also my server). Hungry for a burger and fries, and ordered as such. Added a cup of poblano chicken soup. Soup was a pleasant surprise. Hint of spice, creamy with a bold broth and plenty of chunks of chicken and beans. Burger was slightly more done (ordered medium). The advertised sauce was hard to even notice. Fries were nicely peppered and fairly average. Truthfully, I wasn't looking for the best burger and fries ever, just was craving them. This fit the bill. Ordered after dinner drink: Irish coffee. This hit the spot. Lovely balanced (just a hint of sweetness from the bailey's and the hint of bite from Jameson) and nicely presented. Kudos to the bartender. Manager stopped by twice, nice job of checking in and small talk. In a nutshell: nice place, friendly, standard fare, good drink. read more

I like it. Steak was cooked exactly how i wanted it and I was impressed with the different sauces/crusts you could tailor your steak with. I recommend the blue cheese crust, very good. The appetizers were ok. Thankfully our dinner was excellent. read more
