It was definitely sub par barbecue. The brisket was very low quality, almost dry. The pork ribs were better, both far more tender and flavorful than the brisket. The rolls were VERY stale, no amount of butter could save them. The mixed vegetables were better than average, but the pinto beans and corn casserole were just edible. So I've been going to Tony's Barbecue for the past 4 or 5 years and the food and service has been phenomenal. The last few times I have gone to the location on Calder my food has been subpar. My potatoes have been extremely greasy, My ribs were huge and not cooked very well and my baked beans are really really juicy. What's going on here. With this type of food being served I can take my business elsewhere. Im not spending money there when I can drive a few more miles down there road to Dickies. Dickies is always consistent. The place is a operation that is ran by some very rude people not even worthy of one star but I never heard of them so traveling gives me the opportunity to discover new places and try new things and enjoy new atmospheres this place is definitely not it unless you want hair in your food rudeness and then an attitude and a very verbally aggressive employee who wants to become belligerent argumentative extremely unprofessional disrespectful and very defensive which to me obviously is the reflection of a person who feels they've done wrong the act of a guilty person who is reflecting not only the leadership there but all the operations and then when you're trying to address your concerns again they get defensive verbally aggressive and then when I stated that I was going to file a complaint directly with the corporate people they told me that they didn't care who I contacted and right then I realized they don't care and so I said to them I know you don't care Jose the gentleman I had spoken with directly and he claims he's not even a manager so that's horrible that somebody who claims he's not a manager wants to be very rude and disrespectful and urge me to bring the light to the situation publicly and that I could file a complaint with whoever I want well you know if I was the general manager of that restaurant I would be furious that not only are the people under me the main source of the problem but then they want to have an attitude when something is addressed and then put my neck out there to get chopped off because they tell the customer again a customer who's never been there never heard of them because they don't live in the state where they're at that they don't care that they don't work for me well really they work for every single customer that comes in there the monies that goes in their cash drawer provides every one of them a paycheck and so they do work for me they work for all of us but this was a very ugly crew in people and like I said if you want a very sloppy you know plate with physical hair in it to me that's just nasty and yet after I contacted three other locations to address my concerns it was to no avail but yet I was promised over an hour ago that the corporate headquarters was going to call me in 10 to 15 minutes goes to show you how much they care! read more

I love coming to this BBQ restaurant every time I come home to Beaumont! They have the best BBQ potatoes that are fully loaded with real bacon bits, butter, bbq sauce (not sure if it's homemade) and sour cream! It's not the fanciest place to eat at, but you won't leave disappointed after you devour your hot and fresh smoked meat! The brisket, sausage, and pork ribs I ordered were unexceptional, but there are condiments available to suit one's tastes. There is a decent condiment bar with jalepeños and habaneros, as well as pickles and sliced bread. There is only one type of BBQ sauce available and it is mild and tangy. The sides I ordered--corn bake and fried okra--are okay but nothing worth bragging about. They serve Pepsi products and the drinks come in big blue plastic tumblers. I ate at this place because there were not very many customers and I was hungry. That being said, consider it Saturday night, which is why most good restaurants are full of people. Well, what can I say, I like Tony's BBQ and I eat here a lot. There are two locations in Beaumont and they are both really close to my house. I always get the BBQ chicken and corn bake. In my opinion the chicken is some of the best I've had at any BBQ joint and the corn bake is just as good. Everything else here is good too. The ribs are tender and the sausage is juicy. I head here on Thursdays for all you can eat BBQ for 10.95. Friday night is steak night and every other day has a special of some kind. read more

Lets just say there was no marriage between my expectations and reality... :/ The brisket was very okay, and nothing else really stood out. The meat we had was tender and flavorful even without the sauce: chicken, thinly sliced beef brisket, and pork ribs. The "dinners" come with large rolls (sweeter than you'd expect) and 2 sides. The Cajun vegetables (potatoes, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, onion) were roasted in plenty of oil until quite dehydrated - interesting texture and very yummy even though (or maybe because) a tad too salty. The fries were fresh and good, and we liked the dirty rice and the baked beans too. The only thing we didn't like at all was the corn cake. I was expecting maybe a sweet dense cornbread with corn kernels. But there was nothing remotely cake about it: tough corn kernels in a thick gloppy flavorless sauce. There's just one perfect sauce, which they ladle over your meat (if you want...they ask you first). Our 6-year-old found the sauce to be too "spicy" (vinegary). I took my English non barbecue eating wife, and my finicky 6 year old to Tony's and both where very happy. I was even able to get my son to try something new. I am giving this establishment 2 *s. This was my second visit to this location. The customer service is not the greatest. I went during lunch and was surprised at the minimum patrons. After ordering my lunch, I waited for a side for over ten minutes. One side dish I ordered was cold. The brisket sandwich I ordered was horrible. All of the food was cold. I tried drenching the brisket in sauce, but there was not any hope. I left over half of the meal on the table. The location in the Port Arthur area is 100% better than this location. The employees are friendly and the food is hot and piping. I'm not sure if anyone is looking into the service and product being served to the patrons at the Beaumont location.
