Your first impression of this establishment is going to be negative, no question. The gentleman that works the front desk and answers the phones has no bedside manner whatsoever. It's actually quite entertaining to listen to him field phone calls while waiting for the service on your vehicle to be completed. He's a sweetheart when dialing out to vendors and business partners, but when the phone rings and a potential customer is on the other end of the line the elderly, unkept, stray dog of a receptionist shows his teeth. The work was finished in exactly the amount of time I was told it would take, the price seemed reasonable and the finished product is something to be proud of. I'm no stranger to taking my vehicles to the shop and the smells that come along with that, but when I hopped inside my vehicle there was a rather pungent odor that had to be aired out. Final statement: The seats in the waiting room have at least 200,000 miles + on them, my rear end was screaming by the end of the hour wait. read more

Wanted to get one company's aftermarket catback connected to another's downpipe on my VW GTI. They told me have it in a couple hours before closing, and I was expecting them to do an estimate. What I previously presumed, was me being overcharged was really just miscommunication. If I'm writing a review not to say I have any professional background and writing reviews, but I am very picky where I take my car to get it worked on and when I found out about Tony's custom exhaust work, I decided to give him a shot after all the good things I've heard about them. I had Tony and his crew weld a couple parts on my exhaust. I came by in early that morning. Tony's is the right Muffler shop for you. I was addressed quickly and politely, which in this day and age, is very important. Although I don't recall his name is was apparent, he was the shop lead. Anyway, he readily asked for the reason for my visit and obtained the information he needed from me to get me squared away. I waited approximately 45 minutes to get a new Flowmaster and pipe, cat- back installed ($440 out the door). While waiting, I observed other shop employees address customers as they arrives and all expressed the same level of customer service as the shop lead, giving proof that quality customer service matter to this shop. As more customers came in, the shops inflow seemed effortless, and vehicles were swiftly rolled in, serviced, then rolled out. Definitely my go to for my future auto exhaust needs. I'm writing this review 800+ miles after the install. After reading the other reviews I stopped past Tony's to add a flowmaster dual exhaust to my 14' Jeep Wrangler. They recommend against the flowmaster and directed me to the Magnaflow. I'm happy with the install. I didn't like the sound of the first install so they went back and removed the resonator. That gave it the deeper growl I was looking for. Everything was welded on nicely and I was out the door in less than an hour. I deducted 1 star because the manager or whoever was in charge that day was a bit of an ass. He had an attitude when I didn't like the sound of the magnaflow and asked to have the flowmaster, which I originally came in for, instead. He agreed to "eat the cost after all that work" (his words) and have the technician swap them out but he was nasty about it. The technicians were great. They had asked me if they could try one more thing before pulling off the magnaflow (removing the resonator) and it came out great. The technicians knew what I wanted and delivered. I don't know if the manager was having a bad afternoon or was just a pissy kind of guy, but overall I would recommend Tony's for your exhaust needs. read more

I then heard rattling noises and right when I was getting off the exit I hit a bump and the muffler with the pipe fell right off. 1/12/15 Update: So I went there to fix the issue I had. We got to the conclusion that we have to put the resonator back. You would think that it will be considered as a touch up, yet they changed me for the labor. I always think that if you are not completely satisfied with the final result you should get the fix done with no charge since you have already paid, and I called in in very next day to let them know... Still not sure if I will take a start off tho. I called this merchant asking for aftermarket/custom exhaust. After a short talk and couple days later I was there on the line. They operate on the first come first serve basis. The guys there know their business and you better be prepared to answer questions in order to receive best service. My mechanic was awesome, friendly and informative. I asked many questions because I wanted to learn and understand more, and he answered every single one of them with patiance. The owner and his son assisted, too. I got a middle pipe, two flowmasters series 40 and tips. Excellent job and very precise!!! The exact sound I was looking for. However, once I got on the highway cruising at 60 in cabin noise was very loud and got a lot of vibration. Did not expect that much noise, I thought it would be more outside than inside. Anyway, the next day I called in and explained what is the result. Tony told me to go back for further assistance. Once I get my car back from the body shop will go there next week. Pricing is affordable. Mechanics work with a nice pace. I personally do not want the work on my car to be rushed up and sloppy. So, every minute spent there is worth waiting. I will consider taking my girlfriend's car for exhaust repair even if I have to drive 40min one way. Will provide pictures and update my comment once I fix the little issue that occurred. I am not taking a star or complaining because I don't think it is necessary. Total throwback / "old school" exhaust repair shop hidden in the back of a rugged-looking industrial/warehouse strip......On the automotive side of town.....Full of parts stores, repair shops, and used and new car sales, etc.... Got there early for first-come-first-serve service. The gentleman who received me and I both knew I was there for exhaust work so there wasn't a lot of chit-chat as he rolled my 11 y.o. camry onto the lift for evaluation. Using what looked like a home-made stethoscope, he identified a broken flex pipe and a pair of rusted flanges between the resonator and muffler. He offered to replace the flex pipe with a new stainless one, and to replace the flanges with a straight section of aluminized steel pipe for $230. I think that was their standard rate since there did not seem to be any mystery about the process. I asked about the other flanges. He said they were good. End of discussion. Service was done in less than 45 mins as promised before I could get back from a short walk to kill time. Spoke with Tom afterward (apparently Tony was not there that day) who processed my paperwork (handwritten, of course!!) he said I made the right call fixing what was left of my OEM exhaust system, since even though it was a little worn, the remaining parts were still likely better quality than any aftermarket (total replacement) alternatives one could get. I was happy to hear that, but of course this is why I went to Tony's in the first place. Tom said it was common to see broken flex pipes and rusted flanges on cars like mine, but pretty decent integrity in the rest of the exhaust otherwise. That all checked with several internet searches which implied OEM parts are often 409 stainless steel (the kind that lasts long but doesn't look shiny), but sometimes with regular steel for flanges that rusted like mine did. This is also what my eyes were telling me from looking under my car and banging on my pipes. Most of my exhaust parts were still sturdy. To the people on this thread who bash dealers for offering expensive replacement exhaust systems. Stop. Dealers typically can't do welding + repair, and can only sell complete OEM exhaust systems that are high-quality and can be expected to last 10+ years without issue. Basically like what has lasted me 11 years until now. To the people who bash other repair shops that offer aftermarket replacement exhaust systems for less that a dealer (no welding), those can make sense too, but the materials (typically aluminized steel, and aftermarket catalytic converters with less catalyst than OEM) wont last like OEM, but at least you'll have a totally new system that will be good for probably 5+ years without needing any attention. That's worth it to some people. I had actually tried to price out OEM total replacement at dealers and shops and got estimates for around $3k, except that there were no parts in north america due to the pandemic. Had estimates ranging between $1100 and $2100 for aftermarket replacements with (presumably) aluminized parts, and another for about $700 that was part custom - replacing the flex pipe, saving the OEM catalytic converter, and replacing the resonator and muffler with aftermarket. Curiously when I asked the other estimates what parts and manufacturers they were actually offering me, I just got dumb looks because (I presume) they knew I suspected my used OEM parts were probably about as good as what their new parts were. So in the end - for me, fixing with Tony's was the best way to stay close to the OEM system I wanted. Yes there's a chance I'll be back at Tony's again if my other flange rusts more and needs an additional cut and replace. But I won't cry about that. My service experience was quick and cost-effective and if I need another spot repair later it won't break my bank. In the mean time - my car's exhaust sounds and looks exactly like it did again when it was new, since it's still the same parts mostly. Plus the chrome tip is still on the muffler. Yea! Based on what I saw - it looked like Tony's bread and butter was fixing exhausts on older cars and trucks (probably also for the used car lots in the area too?), although my understanding is they did do some work for people who brought parts in. I was surprised they did not have any stainless stock on hand for my flange cut and replacement, but it seems a fair bet my aluminized section will last about as long as the rest of my exhaust might too. They were up-front -- probably 5 years. I don't know enough about welding to say if the welds I could see under the car were "good" or not, but I presume a shop that's been doing exhaust work for nearly 30 years and could only be in business by word-of-mouth since they are hidden from the main road and do not even need their own web page to generate business would have to know how to do basic functional welds. I have recently been referred there by Nissan of Glen Burnie for exhaust repair on my Nissan Xterra. I drove in and Tony quickly diagnosed my loud exhaust issues to a cut exhaust and defective muffler. I have recently cut my exhaust while installing a new catalytic converter and used a patch kit from Auto Zone to clamp the cut portion back together. The patch kit was causing some of the loud exhaust noises. Tony was very courteous and showed me what needed repairs and quoted me $250 to welded my exhaust and weld in a new aftermarket muffler! To do this repair at the dealer would have cost around $2k given the Nissan parts alone have a list price of $1500. I was done in about an hour and my exhaust sounded great again. I went in a year ago to get a a muffler turned into a bolton, a week ago I took it off and got pricked to a wire hanging out of the hanger they welded on. Also where the muffler bolts on seemed to have a lot of carbon build up, meaning when they bolted it on they didn't use a good gasket. But they had a nice staff and quick service.
