Very good food!! The waitress was on the ball and very friendly. We had the super duper bacon burger and the chicken sandwich, with portobello fried mushrooms. Very disappointing! After seeing this spot on tv ... I had high expectations! We had a party of 8, And it did not take long to seat us ... so that was a plus. The food was not seasoned we all had to add salt and pepper. My mom had the nachos however she ordered chicken and they brought her beef. 2020-08-02. Tony's I-75 is borderline legendary in Michigan. Practically everyone has heard of for their good eating portions for the hard working man. If you're not the hard working type, the size is easily 2-3 portions or more. Go big or go home... My first visit here was probably about 15 years ago and I haven't been back since... until this year. Don't get me wrong, I didn't get sick from the food or anything, my first visit was just to check out the hype, and they pretty much lived up to it. We had ordered a 1lb burger and a breakfast special with eggs, toast, hash browns, and sausage. We added bacon and cheese to the burger, and they literally piled on a pound of deep fried bacon in this huge mound that had to have been about 6 inches high. I literally had place all that bacon on another plate just to see the burger. The burger was on a giant bun and was served open faced. Prices were pretty honest then, and there was great value for what you got. If I recall correctly, the burger was about $9, the bacon was an extra $3.00 and the cheese was around $2.00. The breakfast was somewhere around $7. Fast forward to 2020, and they're still serving breakfast platters, omelettes, sandwiches, burgers, burritos, soups and salads. Prices have crept up, but that's expected with inflation. Breakfast now costs $9 for the same eggs, meat, hash browns, and toast. Burgers are 1/2 lb and they now go for $7.99, bacon is an extra $1.89, and cheese will run you and additional $0.99. The burger is still served open faced, but with the smaller patty and bun, you're also looking at a lot less bacon. It's still piled high, but 4-5 slices does the trick. This size is definitely better proportioned for most people. Their giant omelettes still use a dozen eggs and when you add bacon ($6.49 for a pound or more), it's enough to feed a family of four and you may still need to ask for a carryout box! This is also one of the few places in Michigan that serve Poutine (for their Canadian friends), but it wasn't the same when I had it in Canada. In Canada, they use cheese curds, here at Tony's, mozzarella is used to give that ooey gooeyness. Cheese curds is the fresh cheese made before it's turned into Cheddar Cheese. It's best eaten within 12 hours of being made and should have a rubbery texture and "squeak" to them when eaten. Beyond 12 hrs or so, they're just not the same (even if refrigerated), which is why you don't find them in the grocery stores. While there are also mozzarella and other types of cheese curds, they're less common, so unless there's a dairy farm nearby, cheese curds are really hard to come by. Most cheese curds don't "squeak" (even in Canada), which is a sign that's not within the 12-hour fresh window. Overall, I'm glad to see that Tony's I-75 is still doing well, when I arrived, the place was packed, and the wait times were at least 45 minutes for a table for 4. Rather than wait, we decided on carry out. The food is as I remembered, not gourmet, but good old fashioned home cooking, with big portions, and no regard for coronary disease. It's definitely something you should consume in moderation, and I had to stop by so my kids could experience Tony's for their first time. I remember their burgers being much bigger, and they no longer have that on the menu which was a tad disappointing, but their breakfasts and sandwiches are the same, and is still something I'd order (to share of course). 3 stars overall. Oh, I almost forgot about the pandemic scene. Here's what I noticed: Hours are 8am - 8pm (they were 24 hrs 15 years ago!) I did not see any masks being provided, but they are required to enter. Hand sanitizer was available at the cashier's counter. Employees are wearing masks. Employees cooking your food are wearing gloves, the ones serving your food are not. Social distancing markers are not present and people in queue were maintaining about 3 feet distance. Dining room is open and seating is limited obeying social distancing protocols. Food is disgusting. Portions are ridiculous. The entire meal we had was processed food except the meat which wasdso dry we couldn't eat it.

The service was ok but the Alfredo noodles were horrible!! They were watered down and messy! I hope I have a better experience elsewhere.

I truly don't know what else I can say about this place that other people haven't already. It is by far and Institution. And everyone should come here at least once as long as they are up-to-date on their physical and cholesterol medication. When you order you will get enough bacon to take home for breakfast the next day and to eat BLTs for a month . Also to feed whatever animals you may have they will love you. There's absolutely nothing small about the portions here and of course waitresses are known for having a 1950s endearing crass demeanor which is all part of the Kitsch and the charm. The 2 stars were for that reason. While we were eating we had a clear view of the cooks and we watched one of them start vaping while he was cooking. Lives up to the hype! We called in an order while still on the highway. We got the Turkey Club and an omelette. Both were enough for two people and two meals each. I used the side of sourdough from the omelette to break up the turkey club into multiple mini sandwiches. The restaurant is enacting good COVID protocol, but they don't have outdoor seating. By now I'm sure you know that Tony's has been featured on Food Network shows like Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. They are on said shows due to their gigantic portion sizes not the tasty food they serve. Yes they can wow you with a BLT the size of a small child or an entire pound of bacon per serving but why? Really, why?? Do we need more obesity? Diabetes? Heart disease? No, we do not. I was forced into dining her for breakfast on my way up north with a group of friends. Clearly I was outvoted. Our server was straight out of a 1980's rock video gone wrong. She seemed hung over and angry. She was not pleased to be here. When my friends coffee arrived in a mug with lipstick marks on it the server acted as if we were asking too much to have a clean mug. The food was exactly as I'd expect, greasy and unappealing. I got eggs and corn beef hash no toast. A serving came with 3 eggs and enough hash for 3 people that's insane! Those who got bacon got literally an entire pound. Although they claim the bacon has changed, apparently it used to be normal strips of bacon but now it is these little bacon squiggles. I guess I am just not used to eating that way. I try to be healthy and not gorge myself on massive portions of greasy food. Most everyone who wasn't driving was in a food coma for the next 3 hours. Let me start by saying I have stopped at Tony's I75 for over 20 years. I was and has been a good meal with LARGE portions that you share with your group or take leftovers home. Now with that said. The place has gotten DIRTY! Now the inside seems......ok clean. Like they do an ok daily clean up, but still need a good scrub. It used to be kept nicer. NOW Just walk up to the building and is GROSS, unkept, sidewalk is grossly dirty, nothing is swept. It is MONTHS maybe YEARS of not being cleaned and kept up. Just nasty. Sad to see the management does not care enough to keep up appearances. The short order grill area looks ok. Not sure what the kitchen looks like.... So, as you take I75 to and from wherever, don't forget Tony's but maybe suggest they clean up the show.... read more

Whenever we are in the Frankenmuth area we love stopping here. The portions are outrageously huge and the food is very good. If you have a small family eating with you, order one of the ice cream desserts. They are big enough for 4 people to share. I love the Turkey club. It comes loaded with a ton of turkey and ton of bacon. I also recommend their homemade strawberry jam. Lots of strawberry chunks and tasty on toast. I don't remember how I heard about about Tony's but I am glad that I did. My wife and I stopped in on our way to Frankenmouth and boy howdy the BLT lived up to the hype! We ordered a house salad and the BLT to share and still had a to go box. The salad was nothing to write home about but I didn't come there for a salad. The star of the show was the BLT, the bacon was crispy without being burned and the bread is excellent. If I was a local I would have bought a loaf to go. The service was excellent and from what I could see no one left without a "doggy bag". I you are in the area give Tony's are try, unless you hate bacon that is. read more

My buddy and I made a surprise trip to Frankenmuth to visit a friend for his birthday. That being said, he was the one who surprised us with a trip to Tony's. I was unfamiliar with Tony's but knew I was in for a great treat when he mentioned the 1lb bacon sandwich. Upon arriving, the place was packed and bustling, even at 2pm, we were lucky to snag a seat. The staff was overwhelmingly busy, yet very attentive. Lisa, our waitress, was 100% hustle the entire time. The portions of food were incredibly generous. Definitely got our money's worth. The cinnamon roll was hot, sweet, topped with the sweet icing and was as big as your face. The 1lb side bacon was cooked consistently. The omelette was your standard 12 egg omelette (lol) and the chicken burrito was as big as your leg. Just be prepared to take food home with you. While the food was good, I will agree with most of the previous reviews that this place is in real need of a renovation. My buddies and I agreed to not look up as the ceiling had a yellow-tinge color to it and was covered with dust. The bathroom also had little to be desired. It might be that this atmosphere adds to the charm however it also takes away from truly enjoying your meal without wondering what will fall from the ceiling onto the table or into the food. A couple of my neighbors and I stopped in after we made a day trip to Birch Run to shop at the outlet mall. It had been at least 10 maybe 15 years since I had stopped in here at Tony's. I ordered the beef nachos for lunch and they were yummy. Of course it wouldn't be a Tony's meal unless it was super sized and I definitely got my moneys worth with these nachos. My friends ordered grilled cheese sandwiches with french fries. I sampled the fries and they were really good. Half the fun of eating here is looking at everybody else's plates. A side of toast or their bread looks like Texas toast on steroids. Someone across the table from me was eating a full pound of bacon with his 12 egg omelette. That is not a typo. That is the number 12. This place is quite legendary and has been around for over 50 years. Tony's is known for their massive BLTs. If you're heading out on I-75, I'd say it's worth a stop one time just to say you've been and given it a try, but I'd say this is a one and done kind of restaurant. The portion sizes are massive on basically everything on their menu, so the value is great, but the quality is very meh, mediocre might be too high a compliment for it. It's also consistently packed and there's usually a wait to get a table. Lots of locals seem to come here and so it's not always super visitor friendly, especially if you look like tourists. One and done. There was a line out the door and this restaurant i believe mainly gets its popularity due to being featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Whike out shopping at the outlet mall, we decided to give it a try since we've always bypassed it all these years. We ordered fish and chips, a huge burrito and some sort of pasta meal. All were not that great in taste and huuuuge portions. We took a few bites and basically trashed the meal. What a great spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. All the employees were wearing t shirts saying "got bacon?", so obviously they were proud of the way they served their bacon which was famously plentiful! Their side of bacon was basically a pound of it or more. This diner was a bacon heaven for sure! So we ordered their eggs, bacon, hash brown and toast platters. I was intrigued when reading on their menu about their eggs: "when scrambled, we stopped counting how many eggs we used", so being curious I went with that. My plate was full, and it was filled with this mountainous pile of food! The scrambled eggs were just okay - they were a bit dry to me. The bacon was fried to crisps, which were just okay to me as well since I like my bacon still half soft half crispy. The hash brown was wonderful. And the Texas toasts were fantastic!
