The fresh ahi was cut into thick rectangular blocks, and stacked on an avocado purée. It was covered with a tasty sesame soy sauce drizzle that provided a balanced salty-sweet flavor profile, all complemented by a refreshing fennel, cucumber, and carrot salad. * 15-23 Day Aged Filet: Cooked perfectly. It was juicy with a delicious, rich beef flavor. * NY Strip: While I didn't order this tonight, GM Kevin proudly shared that he considers their NY Strip to be among the Top 5 in the United States - definitely something to keep in mind for the next visit! THE SERVICE The service all around was impeccable. Our server, Mimi, and the bartender, Curtis, were excellent, and the bussers, Nick and Collin, kept everything moving seamlessly. A special shoutout goes to the GM, Kevin. He is incredibly hands-on, highly energetic, and consistently walked the floor to ensure things were going perfectly at the tables. This place was great! We had at least 3 wait staff attending us at all times. The sourdough bread and butter to start were amazing! The Caesar salad was ok. I do feel it lacked flavor so I only ate about half. My husband got the Pasta Pescatore and I got the 9oz filet. My steak was incredible! It was tender, juicy and cooked perfectly. My husband was not a huge fan of the pasta. The seafood in it was pretty good but also lacked flavor. It has a red sauce but I think it would be better with a cream sauce. Just my opinion. I went back and forth between giving Tony's 3 or 4 stars. In the end I thought three was fair given the price point. This steak house (at least for me) is a special occasion restaurant. The prices for their steaks start in the 70's. Of course there are other non-steak entrees that are less expensive, however I ordered the 9 oz filet. The Caesar salad was disappointing in that it lacked the bolder tangy flavors that usually make it stand out. The filet itself was a very nice cut of meat and cooked perfect as to my order of medium- rare. The flavor was average. The mashed potatoes (a little too salty) and asparagus also ordinary. All in all, there was absolutely nothing wrong with any of my food. On The other hand, it wasn't up to what the price and atmosphere (in my opinion) should be. First time there and I have lived in Cincinnati for 27 years. Steaks were great and service was plentiful with lots of staff to make your experience perfect. One thing I noticed not on the restaurant is that a lot of people don't dress up any longer which is part of the experience. Oh well that's the old school in me. We went to Tony's for a date night and had an excellent meal! The restaurant itself is a little far from NKY, but I'm glad we tried it. We had bought a gift card during Black Friday when it was 20% off. The inside of the restaurant is very nice, I just wish we had been seated in the front half. It had beautiful lighting in the evening while the back room was more lit. It all had a great ambiance though. Our server was very sweet and the busser/assistant was very accommodating too. The meal started with a complimentary bread and butter to our table. It was a tangy and delicious sourdough with a regular and a sweet butter. We had the crab cake appetizer and it was an excellent choice. It was huge and done perfectly - it was mostly crab and not mostly breadcrumb, and had a great flavor. The horseradish aioli on the plate was great. I had the salmon and my husband had the New York strip. Both were great. The goat cheese with the salmon and green beans really made the dish. The salmon was cooked perfectly. My husband got Mac and cheese for a side and it was very flavorful, we would definitely order that again. My salmon came with a Caesar salad and I would say it was just okay, not amazing, but the large cheese crouton it came with was very tasty. Amazing! Delectable! Savory! So many adjectives, so little time. Tony's is an elevated dining experience on par with any Jeff Ruby restaurant. Seated kind of in a corner for date night against a brick wall where when we ate, we could barely move our arm to lift utensils. VERY.. VERY LOUD, did I mention that? We sat very close to other couples and everyone has to yell to have conversation. No ambience, cannot talk and super bad for a date. The filling of the water glass to excess is nerving as well. Went to Tony's last night for our anniversary. First time in here. Had a wonderful time. Anna was our server and she was attentive and extremely nice. We started off with fresh Italian bread and butter, was not the best I have had, just ok. Then off to a cocktail for me and a beer for the hubby. I started with the Black Tie Affair which was a take on an espresso martini. My cocktail was good not a hint of bitterness to it. The hubby had New Castle beer on draft and was happy with his choice. We ordered appetizers and they came out in good time. We shared the lobster bisque (off-menu choice) and they split it for us into cups in the kitchen which was nice. Bisque was silky smooth and delicious. We shared the Seared Ahi Tuna Tartare, both the tuna and the cucumber and carrot fennel salad on the side were tasty as the tuna was good size cubes and you could really taste it. The tuna had a glaze of soy, sesame, and candied ginger and I would order again. I ordered a second cocktail, Maple Whisky Sour, and I liked this one the best! So good I ordered another. It started with Bulliet Bourbon which is one of my favorites and then lemon juice and house made maple syrup and then add a cherry wrapped in a lemon peel on a pick and you end up with an excellent cocktail. Next up the main courses. The hubby ordered the Dallas Clark which was a 14 oz prime cut New York strip steak. He ordered the Yukon Gold mashed potatoes on the side and had the Caesar salad. I was undecided what I wanted until Anna described how the prepare their steaks and then I was sold! I ordered the 9 oz filet mignon that was part of a special off menu item. I had the filet and it was served with mushroom risotto and two seared scallops and a few asparagus spears. I also had the Caesar salad. Our steaks were cooked to perfection (thanks chef!) and the hubby really enjoyed his steak and potatoes. I loved my steak but did not care for the risotto all that much. The scallops were seared nicely. The asparagus was al dente and good. They brought us a dessert for our anniversary and I ordered coffee with cream to go with it. The dessert was a Belgian chocolate cup filled with a chocolate mousse and a raspberry with whipped cream on top along with a raspberry coulis. I think the hubby got one bite of this as I devoured it. Rich and satisfying chocolate with the best hint of raspberry! The lights were low and the tables were scattered far enough apart for you not to be bothered by other diners. I was worried about that when I saw how it was set up but it ended up perfectly fine. We did decide we would have to give it another try as there were other items on the menu that sounded so good such as the rack of lamb, the Chilean sea bass, and the shrimp and grits. My first time in Cincinnati and first time at Tony's and it was amazing! We went on a recommendation and let's just say we were not disappointed. We called for a reservation and was told they were booked for the Saturday night. We went anyway in hopes of sitting at the bar. Lucky us, one of the gracious hostesses spotted a high top in the bar area so we were in!! We started with bread which was great and served with a honey butter and a whipped butter. We then ordered the crab cake appetizer and it was the best crab cake I have ever eaten! It was mostly lump crab with very little filler served with a homemade mustard. I had a filet and baked potato that was cooked perfectly medium rare. It was well seasoned and had a little crunch to the outside. My husband had the short ribs which were also amazing. Service was excellent with managers walking around and greeting tables! We also both had a raspberry lemon drop martini which was superb!! We decided to celebrate at Tony's and it was worth the hype. Someone told me it was their favorite steak in Cincinnati and it's got to be up there on the rankings. Starting with the drinks, had a dirty vodka martini that was served ICE cold with blue cheese olives. Fantastic. Big ole olives stuffed to the brim the blue cheese. The house old fashioned is made with Woodford Reserve and was perfect. The bread service comes with two butters, we preferred the non-sweet one. Sourdough bread was light and airy. We started with the calamari and loved it. Fried perfectly with the hot peppers. The aoli was nice to dip in. Everyone got a salad. The ceasar was okay, nothing amazing. The Parmesan crisp was a nice touch. The wedge salad was phenomenal. Crispy thick bacon and blue cheese dressing was top notch. Wish it was served on a cold plate. The shrimp pasta was nice and spicy. Huge shrimp fried perfectly. Mushrooms in it were good. Short rib also fantastic. The ribeye was amazing. We split it. Crust on it was phenomenal. Horseradish au gratin potatoes were okay, wouldn't order them again. Carrot cake is a must order. Huge slice. Served cold and I love that. The icing isn't too sweet. Can't wait to go back. Each table gets complimentary bread and butter which is pretty good. Service is great as expected at this price point. I got the salmon, which was very tasty with the goat cheese and green beans. I had to remove the grey fat on the bottom myself, which would have been appreciated in advance. I cannot give a 5-star rating due to the prices. They're just too high for what you get. I can get better food for cheaper at other high-end competitors. My small 5 oz house cab pours were $17 each. That's absolutely absurd, $34 for 2 small glasses of wine. Upon entering we were immediately greeted by the hostess. She was very courteous and welcoming. The restaurant just felt inviting and warm. My wife and I are on a ketogenic diet, which the server was happy to accommodate by allowing us to substitute cream spinach for the standard potato side that comes with every entree. Let's start off where the lovely Mrs asked me where I wanted to go for dinner on my Birthday. I replied steak and googled 'Best steak in Cincinnati' and having been to the 1st two, Tony's was 3rd in the list. So made reservations and anxiously awaited one of the best steaks in Cincinnati. We get there, we wait a few minutes which is no big deal but then we are escorted back thru a couple open tables in the main room and in to the back room where the lighting is a bit of a nightmare(not what you'd expect?) and it's cold af. Seriously, I usually like it being not warm but holy cow it's freezing in here. Lovely mrs never took her winter coat off. Service was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. I ordered the 'Dallas Clark' medium-rare and the Mrs ordered the salmon and it was delicious. I should have gotten this as the steak was kind of awful? It was hard to cut and a bit chewy. I've never experienced this with a high end steak house. The flavor was kind of dull and the sinew(or gristle) was a little more than I could handle. No clue how the folks running the flame would ever let this inside the broiler. And let's talk about the knives... they appear to be decades old and never sharpened. I tried to take a video where it would even cut the bread but apparently that got lost. With the costs they really should hire a fella to keep the blades sharpened enough to cut what they put out as steak. Again, cute place and lovely environment in the main room but the 'cooler' that we were sat in and the cut of meat I got kind of ruined it for me. Will we ever got back? Probably not. I did find out if you don't want to sit in this room, all you have to do is look at the hostess and tell them no and they will seat you in main room so keep that in mind. We like fine dining experiences- especially when celebrating a special event and my husband chose this place for my birthday. There is nothing about this place that screams elevated dining experience. It's an old Macaroni Grill that hasn't had any updates. We were crammed in a back room with a row of two top tables that aren't big enough to fit bread, an appetizer, app plates, 2 waters and 2 wines. We could reach out and touch the tables next to us. Not romantic. Not upscale. The sever attendants were very attentive and the highlight of the night. The server was ok. The food was ok. The steak was prepared a perfect medium but lacked flavor- which is probably why they push to add a topper. The sea bass was fine. Not worth $300 (with tip). Since it's right around the corner, I don't recommend going on Valentine's Day. We had a reservation and ended up seated at the bar. One of our steaks was way under and had to be re-fired. They were completely and totally overwhelmingly busy. Service was not good because of that.
