Awesome food and service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very busy on Saturday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely make reservations. Free parking in the municipal lot.

We showed up at 6:15 or so without a reservation and it was completely packed; they do have 4 walk-in seats at the back, though, so we waited 15 minutes or so and were able to sit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a bit loud, and dark, but still quite intimate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They serve unlimited Iggy's bread with oil, which was well received as we were starving. We ended up getting the Eggplant Bruschetta as an appetizer, with the Bolognese and Meatballs as our mains. The Bruschetta was pretty good, with the grilled sourdough adding a really nice flavor. The meatballs were soft and really tasty, and the tomato sauce was pretty good with chunks of tomato. The Bolognese was also good; particularly creamy and porky. The portions are also huge, and not that expensive. If we're in Roslindale, we'll probably come back (but try to make a reservation first!)

Low key service which I love , food outstanding, [[HIGHLIGHT]]ambience relaxing and nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Short ride from Brookline.. we were able to get reservation on Saturday night 3 days prior

This restaurant was excellent! [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we walked in, it was packed. The only 2 seats were at the bar[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was fun to watch the kitchen at work from the bar seating. The teamwork to prepare each dish was fascinating to witness[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We ordered the caprese with prosciutto. It was delicious. The tagliatelle carbonara and bolognese were both amazing as well. We skipped dessert but would definitely come back here to try other dishes. The stuffed pork chop look really yummy as well. The portions were extremely generous. I had enough leftovers for another meal. The service was professional, friendly and attentive. 5/5 all around!

The food was very delicious and far better than majority of the north end spots. Papperdelle, veal parm, chicken parm, chicken and shrimp pesto were all on point! The tiramisu was decent too..i would give it 3/5 Service was a little rough to start. Clearly it was a busy Friday night and they were backed up. ( we got seated 20 min after my reservation) Tableside service was good though when we got seated. Ambiance was decent as its a nice cozy restaurant

My husband likes to joke "We drove all the way from Texas to eat here!" We did drive from Texas, and I am glad we ate here. We are in town for work and will be here a few more months. We came directly after work, with my son and his gf, not knowing we needed a reservation. I was told about this place from a coworker and I hadn't checked Yelp. Friday night at 6:15 without a reservation. We walk in and are greeted by Stephen, who I later discover is the owner. He didn't make us feel bad (I already did for the inconvenience), but instead gave us a warm welcome, checked his dining area and his book, and promptly seated us, telling us to take all the time we need and enjoy ourselves. This is some of the best food I have ever put in my mouth. I had no idea calamari was so tender. The seafood, the sauce, the pasta, the bread, everything was amazing from start to finish. The atmosphere was welcoming. It was like a small neighborhood restaurant where everyone can talk over the dinner table. Everyone was eating, chatting, and smiling. Our server was prompt, polite, and knowledgeable. He did everything right. Delfino was one of the highlights of this trip and I will never forget it. I don't have a single complaint. Stephen made us feel welcome like family. Thank you Delfino.

    Are they temporarily closed?

No. They are open during regular business hours Tuesday through Saturday, closed Sundays and Monday. They started doing to-go orders during COVID. The hours are limited for to-go orders.

    Does delfino's take reservations?

Unfortunately, they don’t. We usually go on the early side, around 6 pm, and have always been able to get a table. Otherwise, they are still very good at turning tables fairly quickly, and although there is very little room to stand, your wait won’t… Read more

However, I don't know that it lived up to the hype that I anticipated. We got the pizza Bianca with ricotta with hot honey, which was basically just like plain toasted focaccia and ricotta (wasn't anything to write home about). The taleggio was 100% our least favorite and we didn't even finish half. We had asked the waiter to describe taste profile, which they said was a "little funky" and had asked for clarification if it was closer to blue cheese. Once it arrived, it was like a verrrrrry strong/stinky Brie on the inside. The balsamic didn't really contribute to the taste at all. Sad that we didn't like this/kinda made me feel yucky after eating. The cavatelli was very good- nice light creamy sauce with the sausage and bitter broccolini. Very well balanced. Forgot to take a pic of the tiramisu but it was good, too! It's kinda salty (they add sea salt to the top). Drink menu was limited. Had two different glasses of red wine but wish they had something more full bodied on the menu!

The table was a bit tight, but we made it work. Our server was kind. We started with chorizo and cheese. The chorizo was similar to meat from A charcuterie board, so for the price, we would definitely skip ordering the cheese and chorizo. Other than those 2 dishes, we would order everything again! The potatoes, carrots and mushrooms were bomb! They were each so good. I'd order all 3 again. The chicken was also really good. The potatoes tapas is the same as the potatoes that come with the chicken, so no need to order both, unless you love potatoes. that being said, the potatoes were so good that we couldn't stop eating them. We'll definitely come back since this is in the neighborhood. I recommend giving it a try.

My guess is that this is more of an evening destination where people come for cocktails and the atmosphere rather than lunch. We ordered a Diet Coke, the Scampi appetizer, Carbonara, and the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. The scampi was easily the best part of the meal. It was flavorful, cooked well, and made for a nice appetizer to start things off. Unfortunately, the pastas didn't quite meet expectations, especially considering the price. The Rigatoni Alla Vodka was $28, but the pasta wasn't cooked al dente and felt overdone. The Carbonara, also $28, was disappointing as the eggs had curdled and the dish ended up being much oilier than I expected. At $18, the scampi was enjoyable, but overall I don't think the food justified the price point. One bright spot was the service. Our waitress was incredibly kind, checked in on us frequently, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a very aesthetic design. I can definitely see why it's popular on social media. There is also outdoor seating, which I imagine would be a nice option on a warm summer evening. One thing I did notice, though, is how closely the tables are spaced together. Since the restaurant was mostly empty during our visit it wasn't an issue, but I could see it feeling crowded and fairly loud once the dining room fills up. I was honestly surprised by the meal because Gigi is part of the Mazi Restaurant Group, and I've really enjoyed some of their other concepts, especially Kava Neo-Taverna. Based on this experience, though, I think there are plenty of Italian restaurants in Boston that offer better food and better value for the same price. Overall, I'd give Gigi 3/5 stars. The service and atmosphere were both strong, but the food didn't live up to the pricing. If I came back, it would probably be for drinks, appetizers, and the ambiance rather than a full Italian dinner.
