We used to come here a lot with my mom. And since we hadn't been in a while, we decided to stop by for lunch. They had a "pick too" which appealed -- soup or sandwich or salad. I decided to get matzah ball soup and half a corned beef sandwich on rye. The soup was very good. And it was served first, and was hot in a small bowl. My husband really liked his beef cabbage soup, too. My sandwich, however, was awful. The bread was decent, but the meat tasted so processed -- like baloney. After we pointed it out, the manager told me it had been cut wrong (with the grain). He cut some more corned beef "correctly" and brought it back. It still wasn't very good. Slightly better, but I told my husband it could have been canned ham. The manager said they changed suppliers a few years back. I think they need to change again. My husband's chopped liver was a much better choice. It came with lettuce and tomato. Oh, and of the sides, I liked the red bliss potato salad better than their coleslaw -- which had a lot of mayo in it. Bottom line -- come for breakfast or deli, but skip the corned beef. read more

We haven't been to this location in a while and decided to give it a try for lunch. We each picked a Lunch Special, PICK TWO, half a sandwich and Soup. I went with the Chopped liver and the Beef Cabbage Soup. The Soup was great and could be a meal by itself. My Chopped liver was good. My coworker suggested we come here for lunch. I hadn't been since November of last year so I was looking forward to pastrami. That awful smells was still present at the entrance when you walk in. Hostess sat us and waitress came over to take our drink order. We just stuck with water. I put in my order for the Rachel sandwich with potato pancakes as my side for an up charge. The pancakes were golden delicious and paired well with applesauce. The coleslaw is a hard pass. Now I was excited to bite into my pastrami sandwich but the bread was toasted hard which was unusual. The pastrami was a bit fatty and very rubbery. I had to dismantle the sandwich as the bread was just too hard to bite into. I did the best I could with this sandwich using Russian dressing but I was definitely disappointed. read more

I had high hopes for TooJay's given its reputation, but my recent visit fell a bit flat. The ambiance was fine--nothing special, but nothing off-putting either. Felt just to hair above a fast food restaurant. However, the food was really just about average. Before I get into the food, the lighting was really great and it was able to see quite easily. The acoustics were quite good and it was very easy for me to hear and be heard. I ordered a salad with chicken, expecting something fresh and flavorful. What I got instead was mediocre at best. The lettuce was a bit limp, and really didn't have much flavor. The chicken, while cooked adequately, was bland and lacked any seasoning or character. The whole dish felt uninspired. If you ever order a salad from McDonald's or Burger King, this was maybe one or two clicks better... maybe. The service was polite, but that wasn't enough to elevate the overall experience. For the price and the hype, I expected far better. There are plenty of other options in the area, and unfortunately, this is not a place I'd be over eager to return to. read more

E.g., quasi-exotic pastas, grilled cheese, fish/chips, various platters like hot turkey. Liquor license options for those inclined. Service can sometimes get overwhelmed, but nothing tragic. In to out is under an hour, unless you choose otherwise. Priced reasonably for locale. Lots of nearby parking. Reservation not needed. In the last 4 years, wait time to seating has never exceeded 2 min. Good home-cooked food done right, fast, and affordable. read more

We were a group of 7 who went there following a wonderful Lake Worth Playhouse performance. It was 5pm on a Saturday night and it was surprisingly empty (though filled in by the time we left). Our waiter was a delightful presence and very competent at his job. Everyone was pleased with what they ordered. Three ordered pastrami and said it was very tender and tasty. Several had the potato salad and raved about it. The French fries were also a hit! I had the Monterey chicken and while it was a messy sandwich to manage, it was delicious. The dessert options were tempting, but we were all too full. The prices were reasonable too. Overall, it was pleasant experience and we'll definitely return! read more

Never go there on Christmas. They had two waiters for 100 people, I'm exaggerating, but it took an hour and a half for us to get our meals and then another half an hour to get our bills and the side salads that they did not deliver, all in all 2 1/2 hours And while the food is good, it was cold and we didn't want to complain and wait another half an hour. We've been going to Too Jays for years. They've really gone downhill since we first started going there. Food is okay but their portions are small and they are expensive for what you get. They roll the meat for a sandwich, trying to make it look like a generous portion. Lucky if your sandwich has 1/4 lb of meat on it. Very overpriced, and disappointing for the portion size and quality of the food. We won't be going back anytime soon. Flanigans is our new go to. I've written many reviews and they've always been four and five stars. I grudgingly gave today's visit a two star. I ordered the corn beef hash that came with cheesy grits and two eggs over easy and toast. I literally waited 20 to 25 minutes for this order and they were not that busy. The corn beef hash was inedible. It was barely warm and extremely salty even for corned beef hash. The eggs were hard and not over easy. The cheesy grits were disgusting. I didn't try the toast. I ordered coffee and orange juice as well. A little cup of coffee and I mean a little cup will cost you $3.69. !!!!! they used to give you a whole pitcher for less than this. They also used to give you fresh squeezed orange juice, but no more. I paid almost 4 dollars for what they certainly got out of a carton. I never like to say anything bad about the servers because unlike servers at restaurants where you can't have breakfast or dinner for under $100, these workers really work. The server was very pleasant --however I do not like strangers to call me sweetheart and honey which he consistently did. I find this very offensive and I hope if Management is reading these reviews, they will say something nicely to this male server. I always give restaurants a second chance, but it looks like they're selling the building so I don't think this deli will be there much longer. And the quality of the food shows it. read more

We purchased a Banana Dream Cake for Christmas dinner dessert. They advised us to take a frozen one and let it thaw in the fridge. My husband purchased it on 12/23/25 and he placed the box in the fridge. On the afternoon of 12/25/25, I opened the blue box to pre-cut the cake. The first red flag for me was the chocolate icing - had I known the cake contained icing, let alone chocolate, I would have never purchased this cake. The amount of chocolate completely overpowered any potential banana flavor. After taking my first bite, I was disappointed to find there was absolutely NO banana taste at all - not even a hint. I firmly believe that freezing the cake led to the "demise" of the banana flavor. The store employee claimed that this cake is their "Number one best selling dessert", a claim I strongly disagree with based on our experience. Next time, I'll stick to making and bringing my own personal cheesecake recipe instead. read more

The food is sensational. Better than an actual New York deli, the way that Disney land is better than any knock-offs that are 'more authentic'. My favorite things to order are French onion soup, blintzes, Reuben and the Banana Dream pie. They also have an off-menu cake that's fantastic. It's an orange-flavored cake similar to Twinkies. Unfortunately my guest couldn't eat the pastries because she had an intolerance to dairy products. Stopped here after a cruise that docked in Miami and we needed to then travel to Orlando for a few days. Wanted something fairly quick and Chas had been to one of the locations before and said it was a quality Jewish Deli type place. We got a few sandwiches inlcuding the Reuben and the Corned Beef and Turkey rachel. Really good stuff. The quality of the Corned Beef was top notch, the rye was fantastic, there really isn't much else to say. The place was clean and the cost was pretty much what you would expect. The whole TooJays chain has been on the downhill slide to too awful I've eaten at them, for years. The final crowning insult? Corned Bief. To call this "beef" brisket insults the very magnificent grain and textures of that cut of meat. I wasn't aware that GoodYear produced a synthetic corned beef. The rubbery pink mass that was on my soggy rye bread was some tenderized meat that might have been a sad cut of brisket. I could put this salty, rubbery rubbish "bief" on my car and get 50,000 miles on it. I threw it out. Not worth eating, after a couple of bites. Gone, for a while, have been the traditional salt-cured pickles, for the cheaper vinegar ones. Yeccch. Gone is the case loaded with beautifully presented salads, the lox, whitefish and sable fish. Plus all of the beautiful meats by the pound. Not just the basics. All gone. The split pea has some really unpleasant artificial smoke flavor. When I arrived in NYC Under the Palms, in 2004, Too Jays served up meats from top notch suppliers. Legit Saul Food. Today?
