    All noodles

I paid over $7 for chicken noodle soup to go. I am sick and was so looking forward to eating this hearty soup. I get home and unpack it and there's literally no chicken in it. I'm eating a bunch of noodles and carrots in chicken broth. I could've gone to Publix and ordered broth for half the price.

I had high hopes for TooJay's given its reputation, but my recent visit fell a bit flat. The ambiance was fine--nothing special, but nothing off-putting either. Felt just to hair above a fast food restaurant. However, the food was really just about average. Before I get into the food, the lighting was really great and it was able to see quite easily. The acoustics were quite good and it was very easy for me to hear and be heard. I ordered a salad with chicken, expecting something fresh and flavorful. What I got instead was mediocre at best. The lettuce was a bit limp, and really didn't have much flavor. The chicken, while cooked adequately, was bland and lacked any seasoning or character. The whole dish felt uninspired. If you ever order a salad from McDonald's or Burger King, this was maybe one or two clicks better... maybe. The service was polite, but that wasn't enough to elevate the overall experience. For the price and the hype, I expected far better. There are plenty of other options in the area, and unfortunately, this is not a place I'd be over eager to return to.

The Too-Jay's of today is nowhere close to the awesome Too-Jay's of years past! The sandwiches are not anything at all like they used to be both in size and quality. The only good thing about the visit was the excellent service from the Server!

Had to get my fresh bagel fix. Hit it early on the weekends to get the ultimate freshness, complimented with their homemade cream cheese.

I had the classic sandwich. It was good. The waitress Mary was wonderful. She would make a great manager.

Overpriced. Awful service and a sketchy neighborhood. Won't be back at this one. And they weren't busy but it was truly awful.

They were so friendly, welcoming and down to earth that made the whole experience of walking around downtown so much more enjoyable. I ended up ordering the Italian - they made it perfectly! I hate when I order sandwiches and they're too dry. This is a legit sandwich spot that uses fresh ingredients. My bf got the tuna and he ate the whole thing, where he usually never finishes his food. On opening up the pre-cut sandwich, I was struck by the color and ample layers of meats. The sandwich held itself together and was so delicious! I loved the flavor combos and the crunch. Now I can't imagine ordering anything but this special- and I'm excited to try their other combos. So good! There was no choice of size on the special on GrubHub, and I did find it smaller than I anticipated, roughly half the size of the full size turkey sub also ordered along with mine, but the sandwich was packed full and very filling. (I didn't fully realize it would be a sandwich and not a sub, but now I see that is clear in the listing)

This was definitely a one and done because there was nothing special about this place. DO NOT ORDER A SALAD because it only comes with 3 small cucumber slices, 2 green pepper slices, onions, and 4 tiny tomato slices for $13.99. If you want the other toppings that come on a sub, there is individually a $.75 upcharge for sweet peppers, hot peppers, pickles, and jalapenos. If I had known before I ordered, I would have just gotten the sub that was the same price as my "sub in a tub" (no bread). My salad was just boring and not TOTALLY AWESOME! I ordered my Chef Salad to go and when I got home, it was missing the turkey and the roast beef was only half of a slice. Less than 3 oz. of meat on the whole salad. The vibes are upscale and it feels like the coolest living room bar restaurant lounge ever. Across the two floors and expansive space, there are intimidate tables, cozy couches, bar stools, books, art made in house, and knickknacks galore. There's great music, often played on vinyl to complete the ambiance. The service is fantastic, with friendly servers and staff around to greet, check in on you, and make sure you're having a fantastic time. The owner Horace is a pretty amazing guy, very personable, and extremely passionate about what he does. But it's not just vibes, the food is fantastic. There's a nice mix of options on the smaller menu, and everything is extremely flavorful. Some things lean to the spicier side, but not too much to be painful or overwhelming. Their cocktail program is fantastic, and the old fashioned had notes of banana and walnut which really elevated it. And the prices are extremely reasonable for what you get.
