The whole TooJays chain has been on the downhill slide to too awful I've eaten at them, for years. The final crowning insult? Corned Bief. To call this "beef" brisket insults the very magnificent grain and textures of that cut of meat. I wasn't aware that GoodYear produced a synthetic corned beef. The rubbery pink mass that was on my soggy rye bread was some tenderized meat that might have been a sad cut of brisket. I could put this salty, rubbery rubbish "bief" on my car and get 50,000 miles on it. I threw it out. Not worth eating, after a couple of bites. Gone, for a while, have been the traditional salt-cured pickles, for the cheaper vinegar ones. Yeccch. Gone is the case loaded with beautifully presented salads, the lox, whitefish and sable fish. Plus all of the beautiful meats by the pound. Not just the basics. All gone. The split pea has some really unpleasant artificial smoke flavor. When I arrived in NYC Under the Palms, in 2004, Too Jays served up meats from top notch suppliers. Legit Saul Food. Today? A friend and I dined here the other night and we both got the same entrée, we got the chicken Capri which was very excellent. Just the right amount of lemon, capers & loaded with artichokes, a generous portion and the side of broccoli was perfectly done and flavorful. Mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy was to die for, you seldom get something so flavorful. We started with the matzo-ball soup, which was excellent. It's a crying shame. We've spent anywhere up to 2-6 weeks a year in Lake Worth over the better part for the last 40 years. For the first 3 decades, we started every trip with a meal there the first night, and ended every trip there the last night, and always went at least one more time in between. It was always our favorite, and most reliable stop. Walked past there the other night and was really sad, as it's now been several years since we've even considered stopping there. I came in at about 11:30am and was seated right away. They have Pepsi products, unfortunately. However, the Dr. Pepper from the fountain was excellent. They have their mixes dialed in just right. The fried pickles were good, but the horseradish dipping sauce overpowered the pickle flavor. All I tasted was horseradish. I got the lean brisket dip, it was exceptional. The au jus wasn't just any au jus, it was their French onion soup. I did feel like there were too many onions in my cup and that prevented me from having enough jus for my crusty bread with the sandwich. Nonetheless, very good! Mmmmm ate such a delicious lunch here. A matzoh ball soup (like Bubby makes), an open-faced tub melt, a Ruben, and yummy grilled cheese. I miss having a deli nearby so being in the area and enjoying classic Jewish deli food was such a treat. We were there later in the afternoon so the restaurant was quiet. Updated experience: my cousin came into town and was staying not too far away from here so we gave it another try. My review remains at two stars - good food but customer service is not up to par with other restaurants of similar caliber. We waited nearly ten minutes to get our coffee. That stuff should be flowing like crazy at 9am. Good food only goes so far when you have to ask twice to get your cup of coffee. Original review: Well this is a tough review to write. Hard to gauge what to give when customer service is one thing and the food was at the other end if the scale. We arrived on a weekday for breakfast and sign told us to wait to be seated. We stood around for a few minutes until my mother-in-law tracked somebody down. We were seated and placed our order. And waited. And waited. I was watching the clock as mother-in-law had a salon appt. finally she flagged a waitress down, who proceeded to tell us that there was a problem with the system that they use to place orders. Waitress shoulda approached us when the error was discovered to set our expectations and not let us get angry. Sadly, she did it even stay on top of the coffee refills during this time. When the food arrived, one side order of bacon was missing but that was easily fixed. Hubby and I split the avocado blt - dang that was very good. The toast was grilled perfectly and was not greasy like some grilled sandwiches can be. The home fries were ordered without peppers and onions (I don't care for them) and the taters were crispy on the outside. Visited Toojays on Lake with my dad. He usually doesn't eat much because he's 93 and doesn't need much, however he devoured the whitefish like he was starving because it was so good. That's saying something. The onion bagel on the side was toasted to perfection but he could only finish half of it so I had it for breakfast the next day. It was still of perfect texture and taste! I had the Ruben which was exactly as you'd expect, delicious, perfect sauerkraut to corned beef ratio, and tasty rye. It was so much I took half home but within two hours I couldn't stand the thought of that lonely half sandwich sitting all by itself in the fridge so I did the right thing and ate it. It was as good as I remembered from 2 hours ago! Lastly, the pickle was a crunchy dill at the peak of pickle perfection. The cole slaw was very good as-is but it could be improved from B+ to an A by adding celery seed...but that's just me. Toojays is recommended by me with two thumbs up...way up there! read more

It's that time of year again, fall holidays which means pumpkin flavor stuff. I called the local too jays last week to ask if they had pumpkin cheesecake and I was pleased to hear the young lady tell me that they did have it. I went tonight to get a piece. One slice of pumpkin cheesecake was $7.99. I was shocked to hear the price, but since the lady had already wrapped it up, I paid for it. I didn't see the tiny piece of cheesecake until I got home. It didn't even taste good, and barely had any pumpkin flavor. I'm glad I got a piece of key lime pie also because I don't like this tiny $8 slice of cheesecake. I don't mind spending $8 on a dessert but at least want it to be a reasonably portion. I won't make this mistake again at too jays. This is your warning read more

In all fairness I have had my favorite tuna on rye sandwich many times at TooJays and considered it the best. Ordinarily the rye bread is very fresh with great crust and along with a very flavorful tuna salad it has always been a great sandwich. I don't know what happened this time but I got the sandwich for take out and was very disappointed. The 2 slices of stale bread were inappropriately small with the tuna hanging out the sides. I ate the tuna and left the bread which is usually bread worth coming back for. Anyway, with tax and tip not great for $20. Next time I will open and look at it before leaving and hope to rate it 5 stars. read more

What happened to TooJays? We moved away and came back for a visit and decided to go to TooJays one Sunday evening. At 6 pm on it was dead. I was still excited but that quickly changed after I saw the menu. All of our favorites had been removed from the menu. What we were left with was minimal so we opted for the Hummus Wrap with Cole slaw. We ordered a side of fries since it didn't come with the $9 wrap. The meal came pretty quickly and the wrap was okay, nothing special. The slaw was so bland and boring and the fries were just warm. On a high note the service was good but overall we were extremely disappointed and we will not be back. A fast food restaurant is as good and cheaper. read more

I had heard that TooJays was purchased by someone and therefore the new owners might want to change things. And that they did. This is the worst pastrami I've had in a really long time! Street parking here is limited and on a narrow street, so if you cannot parallel park...... Try to find a spot on the side streets. When you first walk in it is a little bit confusing because the main entrance is right where the pick up entrance is. When you make a left you will find the hostess stand and it's pretty much self seating. The sandwiches were top-tier and we had a very friendly server. I don't know her name but she had black hair and she was super nice and very jovial and welcoming for a pre-Christmas lunch with my family. My sister ordered the Rachel sandwich and I had Menu Envy ! It was oozing with cheese and looked so yummy. She said it was yummy, and this is coming from a chef! I ordered the classic corn beef and pastrami sandwich and it came out on plain white bread. It came with a side of Dijon mustard which I smothered on ...but I had to send the bread back to be toasted to my liking. Overall seem like a great deli ...plenty of deli meat and bread to choose from. Small sandwiches for $15 . The "too jay classic" is not described as a hot dripping little roll .It came out with soggiest bread slices that fell apart and inedible and a drink dish with a few fries. The "Rachel 2.0 " is described as hot and the meat is a lesser portion with the addition of slaw filler. Fries were added to the plate of the Rachel sandwich and awkwardly three times the amount of the other order. The Rachels second side was never brought out , even after the reminder ! The place was empty yet it took twenty minutes to get them out nor a refill till we had to correct the dessert order that was fouled up then we were offered a to go refill ! Delicious Jewish style deli chain that I have been to in the past. I had one of their "favorites" which was a corned beef sandwich -- it came on my choice of bread (Rye) and with a pickle spear and cole slaw. Very delicious. What used to be the best in a large mile radius has become absolutely atrocious. The new management has destroyed the service, quality of food, and experience at multiple locations. Decided to have lunch with the business partner and my husband after a lecture at the cultural council. Our server was very nice give us time to pick what we wanted. My husband and I both decided to get the Salmon in the bed of rice with broccoli in our business Partner that a Caesar salad. I will say the portions of the fish were very good my only issue with that the Fish was slightly overcooked. But overall we will definitely come again. Love the breakfast options. I do enjoy the TooJay's in Lake Worth. It's right down the street from my house. I can walk there on a Saturday/Sunday if I want to and order some breakfast, maybe a bagel, some potato pancakes, drink my body weight in iced coffee, people watch and contemplate existence. I have had friendly service from the waiter/waitresses, the food is out quite promptly. My latest excursion involved two eggs, sausage links and potato pancakes, with a toasted pumpernickel bagel with cream cheese. It was quite a satisfactory breakfast. Additionally, I've ordered bagels, cream cheese, and challah bread to go as well, which has also been quite satisfactory and magical. This place is trash. They give wrong information. Said they'd deliver a large order. Then when i went to pay they said they won't deliver. Then i placed the order online with ez catering thinking they hire their own drivers but turns out they down. Too jays knew this and still accepted the order and was going to cancel the order on the day on thanksgiving! When i called they were ruined and said they can't talk bc they are in the middle of catering! Playing games on the phone. Of course their food is amazing and fresh but we keep coming back for the unbelieveable customer service and caring attitudes of the servers, especially Nikki. The coffee was pretty awful. If you're a coffee person, don't even bother getting it here. You know something might be amiss when coffee costs $2.69, and a hot tea costs $2.99... since when is coffee cheaper than tea? I didn't try the food, but they have a plentiful menu and offer catering. The place smells absolutely wonderful when you walk in. Was our favorite go-to restaurant for years (used to eat there once or twice a week) but haven't gone now in months since the menu has changed and prices increased. Some of our favorites have been replaced with options that obviously cost less for the restaurant. Used to be able to earn points toward a discount, that got eliminated. My friend and I used to split a comfort meal considering the portions were too much for one person and we are retirees on a strict budget. There is no longer the option of soup or salad with the comfort meals, you must pay extra on top of the increased price of the meal and as a result, we walk away still hungry. The food has always been good and usually no complaints about the wait staff (sometimes felt a little neglected even on a slow night). Ambiance is not fancy but fine as far as we are concerned. GREAT DECISION The location and ambiance: It is a casual family style ambiance with comfy seating. You can dine in or outside. It is truly a deli style feel. It is located in the heart of downtown lakeworth and you can't miss it The food:WOW... we tried the banana foster waffle along with a traditional breakfast. It was AWESOME. The banana foster waffle was one of the most delicious things I have ever tried. The waffle itself is just what I look for. Slightly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the in. The banana foster on top was a must try and it will keep me coming back. We also really enjoyed the traditional style eggs,bacon,grits,and English muffin. On top of it all we had an almond joy cake slice to go and whoa! Service: we were immediately greeted with friendliness even during what was obviously a busy hour for them and had the privilege of Mark being our waiter. I almost gave this two stars but the food is very good and the service, when provided, was cheerful. This reviewed is written as a wake up call to management! I went for breakfast three days in a row as I was visiting the area on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Each visit was marred by a lengthy wait for coffee and water to start the meal and my observation, as a former restaurant employee is that the waitstaff was spread thin. At 10:30 on a Sunday morning, the kitchen was out of a featured breakfast/brunch item. Every meal had ordered items not delivered with the rest of the meal. Each was quickly resolved, but its a pattern that speaks to poor communication between the kitchen and the waitstaff. Creamer and sugar for coffee were not on every table, nor delivered with the coffee. Either we or our server had to go looking for them on other tables! There were apparently two bottles of Cholula hot sauce for the entire restaurant which led to another search. At one meal, with both French toast and chicken and waffle ordered, no maple syrup was brought and our server was left to say, when this was pointed out, that all the syrups were out on other tables. Does no one check on condiments here? Side work needs to somehow be part of the restaurant routine. As a customer who identified myself as a first-time visitor, I never felt particularly welcomed or made to feel appreciated except for patience with the staff's struggles to deliver a quality experience, which I will always be glad to extend. Let me say again, the food was well-prepared, tasty, and attractive but a positive restaurant dining experience, even a casual breakfast, is about more than that, and my experiences at TooJays in Lake Worth could have been much more enjoyable than they were. read more
