I came in for a consultation about my current treatment due to the fact that I'm not already satisfied with the results that I'm getting.

UPDATE- After reading Dr. Javid's response it's clear he was only worried about new patients being deterred from their practice rather than caring about my experience - as evidenced by him calling my legitimate review a "rant". It was clear that Dr. ISSAKARIAN had brazen disregard for allowing enough time for the numbing to set in and took 0 accountability for putting enough lidocaine in. Although Dr. Javid did his best to try to make excuses for the negligence of Dr ISSAKARIAN, it doesn't change the fact of what happened. At the end of the day only deal with this office at your own risk. This review will be long but bear with me as I describe one of the most unprofessional, if not unethical, experiences at Dr. Smile with their oral surgeon Dr. MICHAEL ISSAKARIAN. I was at the office to have four wisdom teeth pulled. Upon getting into the chair, I notified the assistant that it took extra time for numbing to work on me, I reiterated this to Dr. MICHAEL ISSAKARIAN when he came to the room. With that information, Dr. MICHAEL ISSAKARIAN preceded to place numbing gel on my gums. Without waiting any sufficient amount of time, he took out the syringe that held the lidocaine which was to be inserted into my gumline. Almost immediately I felt pain and jerked. The assistant in the room told me that by jerking I could potentially harm myself with the needle, which is understandable. However, the assistant seemed more annoyed with the situation than trying to be helpful. Dr. MICHAEL ISSAKARIAN only worsened the unprofessional approach by immediately discounting my discomfort and telling me maybe I need to consider other methods such as going under to get it done as if I was impossible to work with. It was clear the numbing had not taken effect and on top of that, he actually placed the numbing gel in an area that is not where he was sticking the syringe. Never once did he ask about my comfort level or if he had gotten an area that was not numbed so he could re-evaluate. They both left the room. After waiting the assistant came back in and notified me that it will be thousands of dollars to have an anesthesiologist come. I then again reiterated that it takes me a while to numb and the assistant didn't really acknowledge that but instead called in Kelly (front office help) I'm not exactly sure why Kelly was called to assist but after the assistant gave her the background of what just happened Kelly then asked me what I wanted to do and since I had already paid my nearly $1000 amount do I said I would like for the work to be done. The doctor came back in the room and place more lidocaine in my upper mouth he told me if I felt anything to raise my left hand. Not even within a few minutes took the pliers and proceeded to yank at my tooth - THERE IS NO WAY MY MOUTH COULD HAVE NUMBED IN THAT SHORT OF TIME. I let out a verbal ouch and he immediately put the tools down and in a rather rude way, he told me I just need to go somewhere else or find another means. At the end of it I left with a half numb mouth, bleeding from my gum from his failed attempt to yank a tooth out, and no real compassion or follow-up. Kelly emailed me a referral (that I will not be using). I can say Michelle is AMAZING - if there is any compassion and empathy in that office of the people I encountered that day it was her! read more

I was referred by a good friend from work. Told me to check this place out knowing about my anxiety for not going to a dentist in such a long time. I made my appointment and felt very comfortable with the receptionist Gaby who made me feel like everything will be ok to just come in and give it a go. As soon as I came in for my appointment was greeted and felt very welcomed by Ms Gaby herself. Got to meet Mr Frank who right away made me feel @ home. Then the master himself Dr Javid presents himself and right away made me feel comfortable. Make sure you validate that they are covered by your insurance! I went in as a new patient for check up and cleaning and after all was done, I was pulled aside to discuss a treatment plan for suggested dental work, (it was suggested work not required work) and as we were reviewing the list of suggestions I was told my visit that day was covered and they started to go over the cost of the suggested work....then as it was being reviewed I was told the information was wrong and that I would have a charge for that days routine visit because I didn't have good insurance and I when I told them that my previous routine exam at another office was covered 100% and she mentioned something about sliding scales...I was thoroughly confused and thought ok, this is a new year maybe my dental insurance has changed. I was also in a hurry because I was in their office a lot longer then I expected. So I just paid my bill and left. A few days later when I did get a chance to log into my dental site my EOB was already posted and the first notation was that it was recommended that I use an in network office for the best coverage. So I pretty much paid for services that should have been 100% covered because their office was not a preferred provider, of course if I knew that before my visit I would of never gone to this office. When I called to complain because I thought it was so wrong for me to be told how I don't have good insurance when I questioned the bill and instead of, the out of pocket cost is because we are not in network and we apologize for not letting you know before your visit. But of course during my call to complain I did then get an apology and that multiple people missed following up on my insurance but of course they never said they would reimburse me for their mistake! The staff was friendly but needless to say I will not return to this location because in my opinion they are not honest and dental work is already expensive, I don't need to go somewhere where I feel I'm being taken advantage of. read more

I and my family have been coming to Dr. Smile since 2013. Never had the need to switch. The office is always kept clean and it has always been comfortable for every visit. If I have a question regarding anything, the staff never hesitates to give me the answers I need. To wisdom teeth extraction, fillings, crowns, cleanings, and even a chipped tooth, every visit was good and never had an issue. Always love coming to Dr. Smile's (Dr. Javid and Josie) office where the staff greet you by name, always are friendly, and make certain that your dental experience is an enjoyable one. Well as enjoyable as dental experiences can be. Their office is always clean and well decorated. Equipment is State of the Art. I can not praise Dr. Smile's entire office enough. Starting with Georgina the young lady that mans the front desk. She was so nice and patience when I called to try to make an appointment. Although there was nothing available yesterday she told me to come in anyway though I would have to wait. I was truly in crisis because the crown on my implant had come off. Knowing I needed to address this as soon as possible so not to do any damage to the post that supports the implant I went in. I didn't wait long. Everyone was so kind. Both the young lady who took the x-rays and the young man who offered a blanket because I was cold were wonderful. The Dentist came in and explained everything and gave me options. Here is the part close to miracle. The fact that I can get everything done here, from fillings to oral surgery, to orthodontics, all by extremely kind professionals, is amazing. Dr. J and his office really went above and beyond today and completely exceeded my expectations. I called on a Sunday and left a message since they were closed, because my front tooth completely snapped off. It was a crown so I wasn't in pain since I had a root canal on it before but it definitely had to be taken care of ASAP. Georgina texted me Sunday letting me know to come in when they open at 9:15... so grateful. After Dr. J took a look at it he advised me to come back later when he has more time which I didn't mind since I live close by. I came back at 3 and he replaced my tooth with a new and improved crown. He really took his time to get it right which I really appreciate since it was my front tooth. I've been traumatized to go to the dentist since I was 12... I finally got dental insurance 4 years ago, but went to another dentist that traumatized me even more.... 4 years later, I found the best dentist I didn't even know existed which was only 7 minutes away from my house... it was like watching heavens door open, not to be dramatic or anything, but I was truly blessed no lie.... my biggest worry was a root canal I haven't covered in 14 years, they fixed that right up, gave me a crown, did my cleaning, filled some old cavity fillings and the price was heaven sent as well with my insurance I could cry... This place really blows me away. You know how when you're at a doctor's office, and they take 30 minutes to get in the room and ask you a bunch of mundane questions about your date of birth and what family conditions you have, leave the room, and come back again 40 minutes later only to tell you that you have a cold? Yeah, that won't happen here. Not only because it's a dental office, but because they are simply freaking awesome. So waiting time from the lobby, where they offer FREE, TO DIE FOR chocolate chip cookies (evil and genius), is no longer than 20 minutes. And when you finally get to sit in the patient's chair, they offer Netflix while you wait. Like wh- how- wha-? I seriously thought they were kidding for a minute, I don't know why I was in such disbelief, but that's bloody amazing news to me. Customer service level is like off the chain here! I never felt so important as a patient like holy cow. Anyways, other than the dope ass amenities, huge shout out to the hygienist Josephine. She is so sweet and so caring and I never felt like she was pushing me to do anything I didn't want to do. She listed out my options very carefully and explained each process. Very detailed and informative. Other than the fact that I found out I had 12 cavities (no joke) I had such a pleasant experience and would recommend Dr. Smile to anyone.
