Stumbled on this spot trying to avoid some of the DMV traffic. They are located in a strip mall with tons of food options. After walking in, it reminds me of an inner city takeout spot. Behind the counter is protected with plexiglass. Even the area where you receive food has a door to open and close. Cashier was nice and the service was super fast! They have a small waiting area with chairs to wait for your order. I was in and out in under 10 minutes. The food was so good I wish I lived closer. Egg drop soup was thick and rich, chicken wings were crispy and flavorful. The fried rice was so fresh it was steaming out of the container. Ordered a big order and found an insect in one of the sauces. Brought it to their attention and the lady over the phone made every excuse in the book. We just wanted 1/2 refunded back because we ate some items but immediately stopped. Her excuse was that we took long to call back. We have kids to feed so before we could call back we had to make sure we fed them something else. Regardless of where the insect was it automatically made the whole thing inedible. I was originally going to only do 1 star but she did refund half. I however had to drive back and give her the food we didn't eat which was very unprofessional. When I got there with food she laughed and kept saying it was impossible. This was a staple in the community so I was hoping to get decent food. However please check and beware as the customer service is very lacking. read more

I can't believe I've never reviewed this place as long as I've been getting my wings here. Real deal seasoned chicken wings... I know, from a carryout....but hey.*shrugs* Annnnnd they share a wall with a laundromat which further lessons expectations lol. In fairness, I think they own the laundromat too if I'm not mistaken. They sure got the WANGZ tho! Not sure why their wings are always slightly bigger than everybody else's but they got them here too. Oversized wings aren't unique to such carryouts though. They got the right tasting dark reddish orange colored mumbo sauce with the proper viscosity too, whereas quite a few places give you that overly sticky orange concoction that looks like duck sauce meets glue and tastes all wrong and is just exceedingly sweet. Eddie's mumbo is the right mix of sweet/tangy 'n heat. They actually changed it to that sweet orange stuff for a while and people complained (me too, I'm people) so much they changed back. They said their wholesaler stopped shipping. Apparently they found another option because I stopped going during that time period in protest. I get steak and cheese from here too and occasionally fish subs sometimes, but mostly wings because believe it or not I think they have the best ones in the area aside from the Amish Markets and if you're not interested in fast food like Popeyes or Royal Farms....or KFC hot wings. Those are good too. Pieces though, not whole wings. My in-laws used to send me for Eddies whenever they were in town visiting from the Caribbean. The wings are moist and tender with that inescapable steam burst that envelopes your senses when you crack open those first couple. Never overwhelmingly encrusted in breading or fried too hard...or underfried to an annoying mush where you can see the bumpy "chicken skin" look of feather removal. *gasps* Nope, not Eddie's. Never tiny, weird or broken or knarled little strange poultry wingding products so many places sell, but rather, always perfect, meaty, wonderfully seasoned and organized neatly in a styrofoam to-go box. Fried crisp and never too dry. I normally get my mumbo squeezed atop the wings before bagged so that it has a chance to soak in before I get to my destination. I then get a large cup on the side for dipping emergencies. Fu Jhin, aka "Rikki" with the BIG enthusiastic personality, normally works counter and playfully opens the conversation after hello with a simple, "how many wings?", whenever I call since she knows my voice (and likely has caller ID too). She knows I rarely order anything else and have ordered as many as 75 wings at a time. That's a lotta bird. Even asked me one time, "where you been?", after an extended wingless absence, lol. She's a hoot. Apologies for taking this long to tell you guys about these wings (surprisingly I don't even have pics of them in my phone which is rare) but I'll post pics next time I go for some. Get you some. Oh, and the fries are those frozen crinkly cuts which are pretty unremarkable in most settings usually. When I get them I normally have salt/pepper shaken then generous ketchup squeezed atop the hot fries just before she closes the container. The steam created inside makes the fries super moist by the time I get home....where I add my hot sauce to the menagerie. The fries make an awesome wing-man for this bird. (see what I did there). They even warm up well this way, where frozen fries seldom do. PS- They take credit cards but won't post signage and keep the machine hidden behind the counter since apparently they're not into credit card fees and prefer cash. You have to ask to use a card. Parking is usually ample and on site, but can become challenging with the laundromat folks next door sometimes especially on weekends, when people tend to do laundry. read more

This place gets 5 stars from me I came all the way from Norfolk,VA to get some crabs and stopped here and the chicken wings and fries was bomb. I hate overly sweet mumbo sauce but theirs was just right I definitely will visit them again read more

See my review re: Jerry's for a complete description of the menu. Same thing, only outside of the District. Where else are you going to go for a basket of steaming hot fried shrimp or fried chicken. Eddies is more of a late night indulgence more than anything, and from old town, you can get there in 10-15 minutes. While you're there, stop across the street and wash your car at the closest do-it-yourself car wash to northern VA. I've searched and searched, and that's the closest to DC. read more

They put flaming hot peppers on my steak and cheese when I asked them not to when I ordered my steak and cheese I asked for everything except tomatoes and you're usually supposed to request to have flaming hot peppers on any food in freaking Eddie's Carry Out I ordered by By calling now I asked for steak and cheese and a sprite they I asked for some pickles and is it pickles already come on the stick a cheese and when I ate my steak and cheese I had hot flaming peppers on there and they were hot as hell and they were burning top of my mouth and I hated it there services so freaking bad and we don't want to go there no more I don't like EDDIES read more

This review is based on my experience ordering from this establishment through Uber Eats. ***If you just want to know why I gave this ONE star, skip to the last two paragraphs*** Made the order through the application and after an hour or so of waiting, finally received product. This is a pretty significant amount of time, given that I live just a couple of miles away from this place. I will not fault this place fully for this issue, except that when the Uber driver went to the establishment it appeared that they were not finished making the products. The food itself was what you can expect from a lower fare Chinese fast food joint. I sampled some American offerings (e.g. sandwiches) and Chinese offerings (e.g. Shrimp fried rice, Singapore noodles). The food is very hit or miss. For instance, the Steak Chicken sandwich is virtually inedible. It is overcooked, hard, and was basically a piece of hard meat between depressing pieces of bread (yes, the white loaf of bread you'd buy in the supermarket kind). The fish sandwich, on the other hand, was pretty good. As for the Chinese offerings, I suspect that they'd be acceptable to an American, but being that I'm Chinese American, this is mediocre at best. Now as to why this place deserves a ONE star. After my order was dropped off by the Uber delivery person, I noticed my Uber receipt had a surcharge adjustment of $7.70. I looked at the Uber Eats' app for issues with surcharge adjustments, and it said that it would be because I made a special request/change. Any change would show on the receipt. Now, I didn't make any such special requests or changed my order. Unsurprisingly, nothing was notated on my Uber receipt, except for the added surcharge at the very end. I contacted the store about it, and they HUNG UP ON ME THREE TIMES. In fact, the first time I called, they hung up on me outright. They only were willing to talk to me after I spoke to them in CHINESE, but even then it didn't last long. The bottom line, as they relayed to me: (1) They didn't make any surcharge changes; and (2) I need to contact Uber. The whole time, they acted very frustrated with me (which in itself is quite frustrating), and treated me with zero respect. Suffice it to say, when I contacted Uber, they stated that the restaurant is the only entity that can tack on a surcharge adjustment. Both sides blame each other now, and I am left the victim. Do NOT do business with this restaurant out of principle-- there are more reputable fast food Chinese places out there that are at the same price point but with better customer service and quality of food. read more

I'm skeptical to give this carry out 5 stars. Let me tell why and it's not because of the quality of food or cleanliness... It's because they never have any heat! The fall and winters in Maryland are so bazaar. It could be 70 degrees one day and 28 the next. Please for God sake pump the heat! One night I sat in my car with my heat on because it was so cold in there, I could see my breath. Now their food is good, I generally only order simple things like wings and sandwiches though. Chinese food is such a hit or miss in this area, I tend to not mix my "carry out" spots with my "chinese food" spots. But if you're not picky I would say try a Chinese food dish and let me know how it was. P.s Eddie's is one of the few places that have mumbo sauce. I mean the real deal mumbo sauce. Not the fire engine red watery sweet and sour-ish sauce! Ewww I hate when I ask for mumbo sauce and I get that! Like how dare you call yourself a "carry out" and you say this is mumbo sauce! Rude staff. I used to love this restaurant however, I ordered chicken wings and it was soggy and I took it back to the restaurant and the male staff was mad because he didn't want to hear my complaint. He told me I was talking too much and this is what I get for patronizing this restaurant for more than ten years. I excused how the steak and cheese hardly has steak on it anymore. I even forgave the time that hair was in my food. I just didn't want to excuse soggy, slimy chicken wings and a different tasting mumbo sauce. I will not go to this restaurant again. It is in a dangerous location anyway. You have to be extremely careful when picking up your food. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. However, if you decide to go please be careful. I dig Eddies. When the previous owners were here they were slowly teaching me Mandarin & would ask me to pronounce certain words in English. On top of that the food is good. It's not better than Magic Wok over in Alexandria but if your looking for a decent steak n cheese stop by. read more

The wings & fries here are perfect. A lot of Chinese carry outs in DC suck. Eddie's uses REAL Mumbo Sauce, unlike most places out here. The wings are a good size & not covered in feathers. The fries are crispy, not soggy. The restaurant looks clean, employees are friendly. I'll update this once I try their Chinese food. I've been let down so many times I have trust issues. read more

Food is the same as all chineses food I have eaten. Wait was that long. I received my food in like 6 minutes or so. Portions are good.

This place holds a special place in my heart because they were open late on the 4th of July when no one else was & my boyfriend and I were able to eat some pretty tasty food because of it. In terms of weather, this year's 4th of July was trash. It was hella overcast, humid, & drizzly. I'm from California & was in the DMV visiting my boyfriend who really wanted me to have a great Fourth like the ones at home, but the plans of cookouts & fireworks got rained out. We ended up finding Eddie's on Yelp & phoned to place our order: chicken chow mein, shrimp fried rice, wonton soup, fried chicken with fries, & I think General Tsao's for my boyfriend. Everything was really good. The chow mein was freshly made & the rice wasn't greasy at all. The wontons were made with a much thicker noodle than I am used to, but they were really flavorful. The fried chicken was a little dry &, even though we had asked twice for it, we weren't given mumbo sauce. Anyway, we had a delicious Chinese buffet on the couch for the 4th of July & it was great! read more

Fukkin Horrible! I usually go to the Eddies by the laundromat on Livingston Road by Hover Mills. I wish I just trusted my gut!! For one the steak n cheese rolls are shameful. Looks like they just through any ol slice of cheese in it. The mumbo sauce is horrible. Even the fried rice isn't up to par. I am so pissed I wasted my money with them! The only taste that lasts from the chicken wings is the oil it was fried in!! Don't waste your time or money. Go to a different carry out!! read more
