TDK has been the best gameshop around with the largest selection of cards for a lgs with the friendliest and most helpful staff of all time! They have truly made myself and others feel well at home, becoming a welcoming home to unwind at even after a long day. Eric is the most efficient and quick to give advice for those looking help in a pinch, and great community leader for the games he is also directly involved in! I came in on a busy day with my girlfriend looking for Pokemon singles to complete a few deck lists. Being new to TCG in general the atmosphere was a bit intimidating but we were quickly helped by an associate named George. He took our massive list of cards and did his best to find everything we were looking for, all while answering questions from other people in the store. He was very kind and showed no annoyance to our mistake of not writing down the set name for the cards we were looking for. Top Deck Keep is by far the best card shop I have ever been to. The staff are very polite and ready to help out any way they can. If you have questions regarding a deck your building or what the current meta's are, they are happy to help. I am primarily a MTG player, but they have a huge variety of different TCG's and warhammer selections along with DnD campaigns. They even have Funko pops if your into that. They have a huge selection of MTG, Pokemon, FnB, One Piece, Lorcana, DBZ singles to choose from. Their price is fair and based on TCGPlayer median prices. They even give a discount for veterans and healthcare workers. The shop is extremely clean and smells great despite the amount of stinky nerds hanging out playing all day (me included). Top Deck has a ton of daily events so if you are looking for a new home to play your favorite games, this is your shop. I have no complaints or bad comments to make. What makes this shop so great is the owner. Jeff truly loves TCGs and thrives to make this a home for all nerds out there. He was the one who got me into playing MTG. Walked into the shop one day after work and was looking for a new hobby to sink my teeth into. When I walked into the shop I was greeted by Jeff (Who at the time I didn't know was the owner at the time) who began talking to me and asked me what I liked played. He broke out some starter decks and proceeded to teach me how to play. He spent about 2 hours hanging out with me and teaching me how to play MTG. I took my son there as he was getting interested in Magic the gathering and we were looking for certain cards to make his current decks better. After asking a few questions regarding what would be Best for a certain deck he was making, the person helping us basically brushed us off and recommended a box with two decks in it. Based on his recommendation we bought it but when we got home and opened it my son realized that he gave us a very basic starter deck. We explained to him we already had decks built and it seemed like he just basically pawned off the cheapest least helpful product he could to get us out of there. What happened to this place? Pandemic aside, there has been a clear change in the direction of the business. The customer is no longer valued and the intimacy of a small business that is family friendly is gone. The prices have become obscene and set to opportunist values. If you are a parent or an enthusiast I encourage shopping at Target or even Frank and Sons. At least there you'll pay a fair price. Most recently one of the young adults representing Top Deck Keep attempted to poorly explain to me how demand and supply work... I feel slightly obligated to drop off one of my old college books to help him grow as a business leader. On a positive note, the Pokémon gym leader at Top Deck Keep is a genuinely amazing guy and is super knowledgeable. As well as the older heavy set guy that used to work there(?). This is hands down the best card shop in the IE. Bold statement, I know, but this shop lives up to and deserves that title. I've never come into this shop and not been greeted or felt welcome. I've done events here such as FNM and 2HG as well as play Commander. Top Deck Keep has an amazing atmosphere and a knowledgeable and friendly staff. I've read some reviews on other card shops about inappropriate behavior whenever a female is present is in the store and I can confidently say Top Deck Keep is not one of those stores. Everyone is treated with the same respect and common courtesy regardless if you're new to the store or a long time patron. Do not trade mtg cards here. Came with a foil jeweled lotus worth $75 trade in value, estimated worth of $122 and a stack of rare cards all worth something and offered me less then $71 for all. This place was incredibly clean and well stocked. The staff was amazingly informed and super pleasant. I had never been here before so I wandered around cluelessly until someone asked me if I needed help and I explained what I needed. Their system is organized and you can order cards through their Facebook to speed up the process. I had to come in twice because I had forgotten things and they were wonderful about it, even letting me have a card I was looking for for free! Still the best spot in SoCal for mtg. Nearly everything in stock new/old/singles, and give fair prices on trade-in for store credit or cash. If you want "full retail" on your trade in cards, open an eBay store and you'll see what you actually net after fees, shipping and scammers. *womp womp* All the staff here will take care of you, Mario, George, Eric, Jeff et al. should be charged with murder....because they're always absolutely Killing-It here. This review is coming at a slightly different angle than most of the reviews here, and I want to make it clear that if you want a place to hang out and play casual games, or don't care about the tournament scene, then this might be a 5 star location. The reality is simple, this store is average (3 star) at best. I have been playing TCG/CCG/Board Games for 20+ years and have attended over 100 different local game stores, and am a well respected member of the Magic community for a long (10+ years) time as both a player and a judge for the game. The store appears to have good stock, but quite a few of the essentials are not there, such as multiple storage box sizes, and most modern down singles. The stores stock of standard cards is reasonable, but it does not compare to the big stores in the area. This is not the place to gamble having the obtuse rare you need for your FNM deck 5 minutes before the event. The same really goes for the rest of the stock, good, but not great, average if you will. Tournaments are another story. There are three levels of tournaments, the stores that do it right (solid judges, good announcements, time clocks, starting on time, etc), the ones that do it "good enough" (this store), and the poor stores. Many of the things that make tournaments easy for players, such as round clocks, pairing printing consistency (round slips), and time, and round announcements are variable at best. The room layout is also not great, with tables for tournament play both in the back and the front of the store. The good thing is with some small tweaks and adjustments the store could easily go from average to one of the best in the area. For now the store is average, and gets and average score. read more

I went here to check out the local Pokémon TCG scene as I am trying to get back into the game after so long. Great location located in a business area. Walking in, you immediately see the tables and the card glass shelves up front, people are friendly as well as the staff, clean and well maintained. I was looking for a place for magic cards and saw this place was right down the road, who knew lol! This place is super clean, cool temp inside, very knowledgeable staff and a down to earth owner. I can not convey how great of an experience I had here today. I walked in with a few older (friendly) decks and wanted to spiffy them up a bit. Dre was the team member that I had the pleasure of working with. This dude sat down with me and listened as I explained my deck mechanics and was super patient and knowledgeable with his suggestions on making them even better, which is exactly what I was looking for. This dude Dre, is the exact kind of person companies want working for them. Friendly, personable, amazing product knowledge and patient. I really didn't want to make this review. After spending upwards of $10,000~ in store for the past 8 months, I don't believe the service and attitude of most of the staff fits the overall brand name of Top Deck Keep. I have had multiple bad experiences in store with a majority of the in store employees with the exception of a small minority of good experiences with some good employees. 80% of the employees always have an attitude when asking for prices of certain items, which doesn't make sense as i'm trying to do business by asking for a price of something that isn't listed. I get that asking for prices is tedious but if they have such a problem with it they can list the prices on the cards. Most of the time I spend a lot of money there I felt terrible because of the attitudes of the employees. The next major point is the lack of respect for their customers that drop a lot of major bucks. Even after spending major money me and my friends still get treated as if we are stupid or something. An employee "helping" us today kept saying "put the cards back where you got them from" a total of 7 times. Another time they treated us very terribly acting extremely rude cocky, but as soon as we spent $300+ they started acting nice, making sure we had everything we needed and had no issue looking up some card prices. In conclusion, I really didn't want to have to make this review but it needs to be put out there, I really recommend taking your business elsewhere as this place has a really bad sense of respect for new/returning customers, there are many other stores that have no issue sitting there and being patient and looking up card prices with you and will actually have nice conversations instead of one lined robotic responses that make you feel like sh*t afterwards. I was initially going to give them a 2 star review but the overall bad taste in my mouth they give us every single time we go there is genuinely not ok. read more

So I've been to this place a couple times now, and my experience with the staff has been mixed. One guy in particular had such a bad attitude it ruined my day. It was only because I didn't want some cards after finding out their price. I myself was very friendly and would expect the same treatment especially when it is their job to look through the cards. If it were up to me I would search for the cards I wanted myself and then ask how much they are but they have recently implemented a new rule where you can't anymore. The store itself is ok with decent prices, some items are steals and others are the opposite. Other staff members were actually very friendly, or just not rude, it's just one or two I've encountered so far that have not been cool. So come here to buy cards with the prices in mind already, or to come play, not to expect terrific service. read more

I really enjoyed my first visit to Top Deck. The staff were very helpful. The store is very well organized. I went to buy some cards for a few decks I'm building and was pleased to see the large card selection. I was also very happy that I was able to get plenty of MTG Basic Lands for free. There are a lot of tables where you can get a game of MTG, and there are regular events held in store so you can compete. I'm going to the next Friday Night Magic held in store. I wasn't in the mood to drive down to Orange County where I typically do my shopping so I decided to check this place out not too long ago and they have quickly became my go to spot for Pokémon. The shop itself is a little small but can understand utilizing their space better for game play tables. With as many times as I have been in the shop so far, they have always had what I was looking for in stock. With that being said, I gave them a 5 star rating based off the customer service we have received from Chris and Ian alone! I won't name drop the other employees however, there have been instances where I have asked for a stock check and that person will go "check" and be back before I can finish blinking saying they don't have any. In that same visit I have asked Chris and/or Ian to double check for me and every time they have came back with the item with a smile on their face. I can understand they get busy at times and they are trying to help everyone as fast as possible to avoid long wait times but being busy should not justify you being lazy and not wanting to help a customer just so you can "help" the next one. Recently got back into Magic the Gathering and found Top Deck Keep only fifteen minutes away from where I live. How lucky I am. Top Deck Keep is essentially the perfect card shop: Great staff who are deep in the hobby, great slate of events that are well-attended and well-run, and a welcoming vibe perfect for newer players like my wife and I. Tons of product including singles at great prices. They're also clearly a well-supported shop by Wizards since they get solid allotments of promos, etc. I actually couldn't of anything negative to say about this place. All time favorite shop. If you're in the IE, definitely drop in for a visit. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I come for MTG, but the shop also caters to Pokémon and Force of Will. If you have questions about Magic, there are employees available to answer them... same goes for Pokémon and Force of Will. Large selection of singles and always stocked with your gaming needs. Atmosphere is very chill. Good music, good products, good people. Prices are fair, not like other places I've been too where the prices are super inflated. Several tables, with mats, for play space. Nice and ventilated too, so doesn't get crazy hot inside. Also, snacks!!! Good selection of chips, candy, drinks to pick from. Plenty of parking space. If hanging out at the shop all day, there are several places within walking distance to order food to go/dine at. Closed on Thursdays, but always running events throughout the week, catering to both the casual and competitive crowd. Monday night Modern, Tuesday night draft, Wednesday night standard, Friday night Standard and Draft, Saturday on demand drafts, Sunday EDH!!! Literally have an opportunity to play various formats throughout the week. Always seem to have EDH players hanging out and down for games too. The events are ran in a very professional and prompt manner. Often times many pods for draft are fired... always impressed by how efficient the staff is at coordinating everything/everyone. First and foremost the store has fostered a very kind and warm environment for players of all ages. My first experience here was filled with trepidation as I am new to the trading card world. I appreciated the immediate attentiveness to my novice questions from the staff, even in a pretty crowded store. Many of the other patrons gladly answered my questions while I perused the plethora of wares they had. The many times I have been to the store now have made the lasting impressions. The jovial and friendly nature of most of the people there. If you have little ones you will find this place very friendly and accommodating. Many of the staff are beyond patient when it comes to kids. The one time I saw a patron utter foul language in the presence of a kid was met with swift and appropriate action. I'm a relatively new magic player. A couple years ago I tried to get into magic back in college, but had a very bad experience when I tried to learn the game at a magic store with the employees. When I came back home to IE I decided to give it another shot and ask for help with building my first deck at top deck keep. George offered to help me when I first arrived and I asked for help building my first standard deck, he gave me quite a few options and helped me understand what I could get that would be good without being too expensive. He was so friendly and helpful it made me want to try playing in the tournaments at the shop. Even though I wasn't very good at first, thanks to all the helpful employees like George and the friendly players at the tournament I was able to have an amazing time playing and a lot of fun! I haven't had one bad experience with this store for the year I've known it and I hope once the covid situation is over I can play in the tournaments again here. I always found the pricing system to make a lot of sense and be fair to everyone, both when purchasing cards and tournament entries. By far and away the best and friendliest place to purchase Magic: the Gathering products in the Riverside area. Every time I come into the store to purchase a long list of singles they are always helpful and friendly and let me know if there are any cards that they don't happen to have. Their prices are always fair and competitive with online market places such as tcgplayer, and you save money on any shipping fees. They also have a pretty large supply of older sealed magic sets. I don't play any of the other tcgs but they seem to have a large supply of those as well. I'll definitely be coming back here for any singles I need and for competitive play once it is safe to play face to face. As far as COVID is concerned they seem to be taking all of the right precautions to keep their customers safe. They are checking temperatures for all customers, all employees are wearing masks, and hand sanitizer is offered at the door. read more
