This was an absolutely terrible experience. They are liars and completely deceptive just to secure a booking. I moved about an hour and a half away from my original location, yet they charged me for five hours of drive time. In the end, they billed me three times the original quote and didn't even move my entire three-bedroom apartment. Instead, they just dumped everything in the garage and left. Worse yet, when I refused to agree to their outrageous price, they even tried to steal my belongings and take them to a yard. 0 out of 10 do not recommend. They overcharged me by dropping my items under a stairway and refusing to move it into my home after giving them a 100 dollar deposit and 860 in cash. The movers took 45 minutes that they charged me and left my boxes and chairs under a staircase outside on the first floor. I live on the 3rd floor. They then asked me for more money to move the items they left on the first floor. I paid 960 dollars for them to be disrespectful, rude and have the nerve to state the bill was correct. Knowing that 105 an hour for 7 hours is NOT 960 and I would never tip for such horrible service. I will be reporting them to the BBB and hopefully no one will have to go through the same thing I experienced. I would give a negative 100 rating for this horrible company. read more

This was a total nightmare of an experience. Beware of doing any business with this company, Alex and his workers are crooks! They solicitated no less than 2-3 times a day via text to the point when I finally told them to stop texting that I would call when we were ready. What a mistake! They quoted $347 for 3 hours at $99, plus $50 for gas, for the total job. They demanded $488 and refused to unload unless it was paid, IN CASH; AND REFUSED TO GIVE A RECEIPT, THAT NO RECEIPT IS POSSIBLE!! They definitely live up to their name "Top Notch". After my mother passed, I had to move her belongings into storage until I could go thru them. The job of personal boxing up her belongings was arduous enough. I couldn't imagine having to move her belongings into storage myself. These guys are the absolute best. I've had them move me twice in the last year and a half. They are professional, kind, and they get the job done. If something gets damaged, they fix it, even if they have to order special hinges from back east. Paul and Bret and Katelyn are extremely professional and inspire confidence. Do not use this company. They showed up 90 minutes late, walked in my house and the first thing they did was ask to use my supplies to pack my tv and paintings (which I had been specific about in the quote), asked me to sign that I received the state law required booklet but had no booklet for me, and starting moving my items without me signing any paperwork. They had no way of moving my nice painting other than blankets and this is an oil painting! I asked for insurance and the movers said they don't know anything about it and would have to call the owner. The owner said the insurance company was closed and he would try to look up some tables and call me back with a quote. After all of this, I called the owner very upset since this was my only day to move and his response was that he got mad at his guys and could do the move himself when they get back to LA with the truck. Which would make the move 6+ hours late and be right in the middle of LA traffic. Avoid these movers, absolutely nightmare experience. UPDATE: I am updating my review from one star to three stars. The owner of the company and his business partner contacted me and were extremely apologetic and tried to make it right. They came and did my move themselves. Yes, it was 6 hours later than I had scheduled and it was a pretty unpleasant experience this morning, but I have to give the owners credit for trying to make it right. And, they completed my move and everything was in great condition. While I can't recommend the original moving men, I can say that if you book the owners, they were pretty great. read more

We had an abysmal experience with "Top Notch." Paul came to our home pre-moving day to give us an estimate which was reasonable. We hired him but he was a no show on moving day - instead sending a motley crew of young guys who were sloppy and unorganized. They didn't pack the truck properly so it took them two trips of moving and they still didn't get everything and had to deliver some the next day and we had to deliver some items ourselves. They started at 9am and ended after 11pm - not because the job was large but because they would take a 20 minute smoke break after moving each piece of furniture while they complained and used foul language. They scratched up the wood floors of our new condo, they destroyed the finish on my Theodore Alexander credenza, they failed to put our bed together and they mangled our entry landscaping. They have taken no responsibility for the destruction, but instead have ghosted me despite me reaching out at least five times. My husband and I ended up moving many of the boxes and furniture ourselves because they were so slow and when I would ask for something to be moved, I would get a blank stare and inaction. To top it all off, we learned the next morning that one of the men had diarrhea all over our bathroom. The worst moving experience ever- do not hire them. read more

This was an absolutely terrible experience. The short story is that we were quoted under $500 to move a three-bedroom apartment into a house. By the time we were done we paid over $1300 and they broke our 60 inch flat screen without remedying the situation. The long story is that we were offered a formal walkthrough and estimate but were not told it was essential. We did not have time that week so we were not able to have the formal estimate. Big mistake. They initially brought three movers and a full size truck. One of the movers never came inside the house and another mover spent half his time stopping to talk with us about his personal life. After loading almost everything we own into the truck, they told us to meet them at the new house. They called 15 minutes later, told us they were taking lunch and that they had to hire a fourth mover at our expense or else it would take 13 hours to complete. Upon arrival the 4th mover proceeded to smoke cigarettes for 15 minutes in our driveway and then helped himself to a bag full of avocados off of our tree without asking. We then had to continually tell them to keep working in order to reduce the enormous expense we were incurring every hour. We had to work just as hard if not harder than their movers all day ourselves to make sure it all got done. At the end of the day we were too exhausted and didn't know what else to do so we paid them the $1300. Days later we plugged in our 60 inch flat screen and found out it was cracked. Paul and another owner came to our house to inspect the television. We still did not argue about the massively inflated cost or the fact that we had to work all day ourselves including loading and unloading their truck. They agreed that their movers must have been the ones that broke it and that they would fix the situation. They asked us to give them some time to figure it out. Their solution weeks later was to buy us a refurbished television and deliver it. Since our rate tripled and the television was less than a year old we asked that they replace it with a new television. They then offered us $350. Again, less than a year ago, we paid over $800 so we declined. They then told us that they were going to give us $450 as a final offer. We told them we would think it over. A week later they sent us a check for $300 with "settlement in full" written in the memo line. They also told us they were doing us a favor because California insurance law states that they only have to pay us $0.60/pound for every item so the television was only worth $30.42. At this time we asked our credit card company to see if they could reverse the charges. The credit card company declined because they do not cover broken items and the movers did move our things from one location to the other. Because we went through this route, Top Notch told us they were offended and cancelled their settlement check. We ended up paying over $1300 and lost an $800 television. I knew $450 was probably a low bid, but I never expected to pay $2100 to move from a 3 bedroom apartment into a house 5 miles away. This company disgusts me. Especially the owner, Paul. Hire this company! I had 2 companies scheduled on the same day to come give me estimates. The other guy didn't show,saying he forgot. He did an estimate over the phone that was really high.Paul from Top Notch did show however, right on time and was very professional. The quote I received was reasonable and "binding". I was told I would not be charged more than the quote, and if it took less time, would be charged less. Moving day came and the crew was supposed to be there between 8 and 9 am and they showed up at 8:03. Awesome!!They were super friendly, and super fast. We just got out of their way and they took care of it all. They were so helpful, I was not expecting that. They even made a little cardboard shiv for my dresser so it wouldn't wobble, they fixed the control panel on my treadmill because I had put it on wrong, and they gave me a chair they had been donated as my couch would not fit into my new home. And they finished 3 hours earlier than the estimated time. AND KEPT THEIR WORD. I was only charged for the time they were there, not the full estimate/ quote. So refreshing to actually get the excellent, fun, friendly, professional service of these nice people and a company that keeps its promises. I will recommend you to all I know!!!!! Everybody knows moving can be a real pain. I've heard horror stories about moving companies. I had to move from Simi Valley to Riverside California with not a lot of things to move. I explained over the phone to Paul when I had and he quickly sent me an estimate via email. They were on time they were professional. No damage to wall stairs rails pictures etc. Paul and Brett worked very rapidly and efficiently. Upon arriving in Riverside I realized I had the old bedroom set that needed to come down which was a giant four post bed. I had them do it and they did it happily. My estimate which I fully expected to pay no problem was actually higher then what he actually charged me. So even though I was fully ready to pay the full estimate he only charged me for the time they used. I highly recommend them if you want professional courteous service. read more

Short moves are stressful enough, but moving to another state requires so much coordination it can be unbearable. We interviewed 3 movers for our move from Southern California to Arizona. We were immediately impressed with Paul, the owner of Top Notch. You could tell he's done this for many years. We were concerned about many things including our piano and dining room set. We chose Paul. His price was fair and reasonable. He showed up on a Thursday morning with 2 trucks and 3 helpers. These weren't kids, they were seasoned men who knew what they were doing. Watching them load the first truck with furniture was amazing. Every delicate piece was blanket wrapped and protected. Each item was carefully placed in the truck, utilizing the space in the most efficient way. Paul delivered the goods on time the following Saturday morning. He had 2 additional guys and I supplied 3 others so he could get out of town faster. Everything arrived undamaged. I am extremely pleased with Paul and highly recommend him for your move. read more
