Popped in for dinner and ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. Came out very quickly. The only problem with the place was that it was only one waitress running around during the dinner rush. Two bartenders one of which looked like he was less than enthusiastic about being there. The other bartender actually took the time to go out to dining area and greet customers. DH and I have been here a few times. There are always some locals at the bar and we have struck up some great conversations. The food is always great! Finally made it there for meatloaf night and wasn't disappointed. We are also big fans of the crispy wings...they are hot but not sauced...the heat is in the batter. Love the homemade french fries...yum! The desserts are great too (I get mine to go because I am too full from my meal)! There is always a nice spread of assorted snacks for happy hour. Lived in Bridgewater many, many years but only just tried Top of the Hill looking for a change of pace. They advertise having heated outdoor seating, but recent windstorm caused a problem, so ate indoors. It has a bar/tavern vibe, with friendly service and reasonable prices. The burger was beyond bad. Not only that , nothing comes with it. It seems cheap but the fries and tomatoes slices are not even included. Burger is pretty thin, cafeteria tasting. The atmosphere was decent for a local dive. I didn't like that when the bar was full they kicked everyone out at 10 and we had to go somewhere else. Typically dive bars around here are open til about 2. I understand having different weekday hours or Sunday hours, but Friday and Saturday hours should be longer. read more

My friends and I worked the US Women's Open in Bedminster and found this wonderful place the last night (Saturday) we were there. The service was great, the food was good the atmosphere was super. The band playing that night brought back great memories of when I use to do the same thing with my band. After not having been here for a while, I finally got back. I don't think it as much a neighborhood bar as it is a total regular's hangout. When my wife and I first got in, we sat at the bar to wait for everyone else we were having dinner with to arrive. We started out with a couple of draft beers (they have about 6-7 beers on tap - decent selection). As we were sitting at the bar, it seemed like everyone else who came in didn't even have to give the bartender their order as he already knew it. That type of place - pretty cool as these places are few and far between nowadays. Once everyone had arrived, we grabbed a table to sit down and have some food. Our table started out with an order of the "homemade" fries and mozzarella sticks. The mozz sticks were pretty ordinary but they were decent. I wasn't huge on the homemade fries but people at the table loved them so maybe it was just my taste. For my meal, I went with a Cowboy burger (bacon, cheddar, BBQ sauce) and sampled some waffle fries that were on the table. The burger was tasty, but it couldn't have been more than a 5-6 oz burger (relatively thin and they don't even ask how you want it cooked). However, the toppings made the burger taste great in a little bit of a messy sort of way. I wasn't huge on the actual burger patty, but the finished product (with toppings) was pretty good. The food prices are incredibly cheap - I was pretty surprised. Waffle fries were decent. This place also gets a nice little bonus as they put out a spread for happy hour. It consisted of some veggies, chips, goldfish crackers, some pepperoni and cheese and crackers. All in all, this was an enjoyable meal in what almost felt like a bit of a hideout. I don't have any issues with the environment, the people or the ambiance, but I can't recommend anything on the menu that doesn't come from the deep fryer. We made our first visit to Top O' Th' Hill yesterday, which happened to be my birthday, for lunch. We had mozarella stick, brocc and cheese bites, burgers and waffle fries. Everything was quite tasty. Best mozz sticks we've had in a while and the marinara was super delicious. Burgers, fries and brocc bites were good, but not anything to write home about. Nice and greasy, just like good bar food should be. Places like this are hard to find. It's very comfy and personable. Definitely a classic neighborhood place. And the prices are more than fair, I have to say. I plan to get the meatloaf special tonight, and at some point, am def going to try the fish and chips platter. Will update accordingly. read more

I was shockingly pleased at my experience here. Upon a colleague's recommendation, I arranged a gathering for work here. The manager was incredibly friendly and helpful. When I arrived it was not what I was expecting. This isn't exactly my crowd, but I felt very welcomed and at home. The bartenders were very nice, and the food really excellent. Have lived 1/2 mile from this family restaurant for 2 years and never stopped in until today. This place will now be our go to place for a good, reasonably priced meal. Breakfast, lunch, and a dinner menu that compares with the best diners and all home cooked meals. We had a rack of ribs, a T-bone steak, flounder and cod. This is the best place for family oriented people. The bar is owned and operated by one family they do the cooking and serving. TOTH is an awesome place to grab a burger at lunch. It's a total dive and the deer head on the wall is likely 100 yrs old, but it adds to the charm. The food is good, certainly not gourmet, but decent. If you like fries, this is your place-- he has a variety of them ranging from regular, to steak, to waffle, to sweet potato. He even has buffalo burgers. The liquor license is an added plus. The scruffy owner is a hoot, too. When I worked in Bedminster, this was our once a week go-to lunch spot. read more

We had a birthday party here last night, 12 people, and everyone enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the band. Burgers, fish and chips, empanadas, pierogies, shrimp, they were all good for a reasonable price. For those who didn't dance there are a couple of big screen TV's over the bar. Have to totally disagree with the previous review. Have had lunch and breakfast here. Both times the food was very good. Well described as comfort food. Not low fat certainly, but not greasy either. They have top quality ingredients. Their burgers are excellent. You can actually taste the beef, its definitely from a local butcher not a mass distributor. Had sausages with my eggs for breakfast and they were also top of the line fare. This is hands on food, well made, and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is definitely casual and absolutely leave any attitude at the door this is a family joint. My only issue is that I have not been able to figure out their breakfast schedule went early on Saturday around 930 AM a couple times and door closed...but food is so good I will persist! If I could ask them for anything it would be to improve upon their coffee, other then that its right up my alley! read more

I grew up in Bridgewater and had spent many a fine evening at the OLD top o'th' hill. This "new" version is HORRIBLE. Wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemies. The food was disgusting (frozen wings and tasteless pizza to name a few). The staff are about as friendly as a cactus and could care less whether you were there or not. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.....head to Millers in Annandale...same atmosphere but much better pizza and wings!! read more

Honestly the only two negative things I can say about this place is the service can be a little slow when they are busy and they don't have a designated closing time.
