This has got to be one of the most random outposts of Top Pot. It's literally a random blue building in the middle of a huge parking lot, but they do brisk business. The lines can be slow if you arrive at a peak time, but the doughnuts are always fresh, and the coffee's always hot. read more

Nice friendly staff in a location that is easy to get to with plenty of parking. The product that they put out is about as good as you can buy. The first time I heard about this place was on some foodie show. After seeing that episode, top pot doughnut was on my 'MUST TRY' list. I must say I wasn't much impressed with the doughnuts. The doughnuts did not taste fresh and they did not have a their entire selection available in store. They were out of feather boa (raspberry) and just had 1 feather boa chocolate. We also tried raspberry glazed chocolate, raised chocolate ring and double dare.. The best was the feather boa! Our next choice was an old fashioned glazed donut, but they were out of those too. Out of the limited selection, we went with a salted caramel old fashioned. The donut was okay in flavor, but it was stale. We also wanted to try the small scoop of vanilla with a shot of espresso. Once again, they were out of vanilla. Out of vanilla ice cream and the donuts they are known for, nice. We thought, since they were out if apple fritters, we'd satisfy our craving with apple fritter ice cream. It had no flavor. I have a theory that this building sits on top of a burial ground (or, possibly, the lost continent of Atlantis) because every restaurant that's been here has closed: Rock'n'roll burger, Mondo's, Su Familia, ... My wife has a sentimental connection to a certain big East Coast donut company. That company's donuts taste good in the mouth, but leave an aftertaste. But Top Pot matches the good in-mouth taste without the aftertaste. Yum! But what about _this_ Top Pot? I've been here twice, once when it was overflowing with people during a parade (before I started doing Yelp check-ins), and then today. When it was busy, the space behind the counter was bustling with employees, and it was impressive that they didn't collide with each other. They also had people out on the customer side, keeping things clean. The lines were long, but they moved as fast as people could make up their minds on their orders. The donuts were good, and the employees were smiling. Today, my wife and I were the only customers (though a couple others drove up as we were leaving). We took turns ordering because we had a sleeping child in our car, and the employee (working alone, it appeared) accommodated us efficiently and pleasantly. I want to like this place a lot because it's minutes from where I live plus I appreciate its quirky architectural structure but every time I come here the donuts are cold and a little on the dry side. It's much more cakey and thick than light like Krispy Kreme but I suppose some people prefer that. Tastes good with a cold glass of milk. My favorite is salted caramel and plain chocolate when I'm really hungry for something sweet but as far as comparisons go, I would easily go elsewhere if it was farther away from me. Staff is really sweet and kind and parking is abundant which is good. Maybe you have to go right when they open. It's the only place I go to for donuts in Issaquah, and though its location is smaller than most, I'd rather go here than anywhere else. The service is usually quick, as they usually have about three staff on duty. There's also a drive-thru that has come in handy when I've been too lazy. One time I came during the morning of Blue Friday around 7:30AM, and took the last dozen of Seahawks donuts in vanilla and chocolate. They told me to pre-order next time because several employees of Costco and other offices get dozens of the Hawks donuts. And that was at 7:30AM. So the reason for the two start review is because my wife and I stopped by at 2pm on a Sunday and we walked into the shop and it was like a ghost town! No customers in the shop and there was one employee sweeping. The display cases were empty and all the trays were dirty with no doughnuts in sight! I asked the gal if they were closing, and she replied with "no, we are just out of doughnuts" So...a doughnut shop is out of doughnuts? With 4 hours of business hours left in the day?! I understand that sometimes demand is hard to predict, but it seems like extremely poor planning! Also, is it not possible to make more? Why doesn't the shop just close? I saw many customers that came up to the drive through while we were there who quickly just drove on their way, empty handed like me! I must say, "I love Doughnuts!" I stopped by here on my way to work to get some donuts for my coworkers and breakfast. I picked the drive thru thinking it would be faster. The way the light reflected on the rain covering the menu made it impossible to even read. I had to get out of my car with a napkin just to even be able to read it. A dozen donuts was $19.99 which I feel is pretty pricey. I also ordered a bacon and egg pie for myself which was $3.99, also overpriced. I waited about 10-15 minutes just to have the pie that was likely frozen before warmed up and when I got it it was still cold on the inside. It was very bland tasting. Sooooo...they don't make the doughnuts here. After going to the Krispy Kreme in Issaquah for the last 10 years, I found it odd. Also, because the doughnuts are delivered, they had a limited selection and ran out of some of the varieties. I will say their apple fritter was AMAZING, probably the best one I've ever had. I stopped by on a Thursday morning to pick up some doughnuts for my staff. The store is in a huge parking lot, close to the Issaquah park and ride, where other businesses have come and gone. I have a feeling that Top Pot will do a lot better. The store itself is still in a circular setting, but the windows let in an incredible amount of sunlight. There is also a drive thru attached to the store in case you want a quick way to get your coffee and doughnuts to go. I liked that they have a dozen doughnuts pre-packed to make it faster, although I think I would prefer picking the ones I really liked (i.e. maple bars). I got a dozen pre-picked ($18) and chose another six for $12. The doughnuts are a little more expensive, but they were a hit in the office. They also prepare some sandwiches to go as well. I give them a star for being open during labor shortages and another star for friendly service and another for having a good selection. However I can't recommend their donuts. They had a weird taste like rancid fat and they didn't live up to the flavors I ordered. The caramel chocolate donut looked gooey and yummy but lacked any caramel flavor and had the strange taste that wasn't caramel nor chocolate. The chocolate topped donut was ok but the frosting all stuck to the wax bag. The raised glazed was probably the best but it was not light and airy and heavy in texture. I eat clean and stay away from flour and added sugar. But if I'm going to treat myself a donut or pizza will be my cheat. And Top Pot is the place to get donuts. This location is a little off the beaten track in Issaquah, but it has a drive through. You don't even need to get out of your car to get the sugary jolt of baked goodness. We went Saturday mid-day and got a good selection of donuts, some to take home for the kids and some to eat on the way home. The selection was nice, even after having been open for a few hours. I love an apple fritter (it has apple in it, it has to be healthy, right?) and it is one of the benchmarks I use. Some places the apple fritter is greasy, but Top Pots was not. It was fresh, crisp and just the right amount of sweetness. I'm surprised that the Issaquah Krispy Kreme has more stars than this Top Pot. Reading through the other reviews, it seems that we lucked out and got reasonable service. Maybe we were just lucky with the time of day that we arrived.
