Ever since Ripple of Smiles closed I have been searching for a similar Vietnamese restaurant that is so vegan friendly. Fortunately Rock N Rolls seems to be the same people under a new name and location? At least the signage and menu were very similar. We ordered the tofu banh mi, pineapple fried rice, vegan pho, and vegan meat vermicelli. The star of the show was definitely the vegan meat vermicelli everything else was very good, pineapple fried rice was average, so many better options to try there. The location is relatively small, about 6-7 tables inside and 2 outside, don't expect to come here to escape the heat since it's not AC, or at least wasn't on the day we went. Service was very friendly, attentive, and quick. 10/10. I do not like the parking garage here, it's one of my least favorites in Waikiki, still cash only and very weird/tight spaces, however, th food is still worth it read more

We ordered the vegan spring rolls, vegan fried rice with tofu, and vegan pho from this place. The spring rolls were crispy and delicious, although a little more oily than I would have liked. The vegan fried rice was okay. The rice had a distinctive flavor, but the dish overall felt a bit bland and could have used more seasoning. The pho was delicious. It was simple with a really flavorful broth that hit the spot for us. The woman taking our order was very sweet and attentive. She answered all our questions about the vegan options. I love me some Vietnamese food but I was a little disappointed in the quality of the meals. Service was okay, attentive but mostly bringing the meal to you and letting you walk up to pay after. Very casual vibe. Kind of a small space. Parking was $6 for us, we only stayed for about 50 minutes . You can park at Discovery Bay. There's not a lot of spots so cross your fingers! Food wasn't the best. We love to support our Vietnamese businesses but this one was a rough one. We ordered a lot of items and they all fell short. -spring rolls (they fry it with the banana lumpias so the spring rolls have a banana taste to it. If you don't mind this then order it.) -Vietnamese crepe (not as much flavor as I thought it would have considering viet crepes usually have a turmeric taste) -manupua bao (it was ok but Chan wah kam has better ones. Very lovely place. It was quiet and not a lot of patrons inside so I think people are missing out on a little gem. I had the pork bánh xèo. Perfect in flavor down to the tender pork belly. The belly was sliced so thin there was no unlikeable fatty chew to it. Lots of fresh toppings for it: basil, bean sprouts, cucumbers, pickled daikon and carrots. The beef stew my husband had was so rich in flavor, both sweet and cravably savory. The beef tender and filling. The fried banana rolls were a good amount of sweet but because of how they're wrapped, can feel a bit greasy. When my partner got sick on our vacation, I had to find a pho place fast. Rock n Rolls was across the street from our hotel in a small plaza with McDonald's. It did not disappoint. A real hidden treasure. It's a small, quaint restaurant. We were greeted immediately even though the tables were full. People were constantly coming in and out - we knew we were in the right place. Since we had a sick person in the hotel, we placed our order to go. They told us 10 minutes and it came out in that time. We ordered 3 chicken pho and chicken spring rolls. Everything was delicious. I really liked that both the broth and the chicken/noodles were hot. It came with all the fixings and they gave plenty of sauces to go - hoisin, chili, etc. Everything was fresh and flavorful. After browsing the late-night options in the area, I wanted something comforting and casual. After a fair amount of looking at the bahn mi and pho, I got the vietnamese pancake and a ginger lemonade. The pancake was crispy, light, and airy throughout, the pork was flavorful and cooked just the right amount, and the pickled vegetables and cucumbers cut through the richness and fat to make for a balanced and forkful that was sweet, sour, savory, crunchy, tender, just a super satisfying bite. Even after 15-20 minutes, it still retained some crunch on the bottom layer. The ginger lemonade I ordered with some reservation because I feel like more often than not this simple beverage is done really poorly and leaves an acrid aftertaste in the mouth. I could have easily drankanother, and third to go. As someone who has made lemonade from scratch, this is a really good one, and the addition of some soda water puts it over the top. When I showed up it was fairly late and there was only one other person eating there. The service was friendly and prompt. It was small inside like most restaurants below the 50 dollars a head line in waikiki, but it was very cozy and welcoming. I was a little late getting here. The sign on the door said that they close at 9pm. I got here around 9:10pm and the cashier at the door said that they were still open. Staying across the street for the week, Rock N Rolls was a lifeline, I probably ate here 3 or 4 times for lunch or dinner during the 7 days stay. Rock 'N Roll featured a limited menu centered around Vietnamese cuisine. The menu included Spring Rolls, Summer Rolls, Sautéed Pho, Banh Mi, Curry and Salad. Each selection featured beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, and vegan options. I felt relieved when I saw the menu offered vegan options. If we stayed here a bit longer, then this would have been our "go to" place to eat. In the background, hard rock music played and gave the atmosphere a more edgy vibe. New Vietnamese restaurent! The Banh Mi was not bad: the bread was fresh, and the internal fillings are ok. The "World Famous" Dry Pho hardly made any good impression. With 90% seasoned rice noodles, some raw chive that is not pleasant to eat raw (never had raw chives in any other Vietnamese restaurants), some roughly chopped basil, and strangely colored Char-siu pork those on top of the noodles. It was ok to eat, but felt so thirty afterwards, I am wondering how much MSG and salt was in this unimpressive dish. This dish should cost less than $4 dollars, not $14.25 dollars. Overpriced! The summer rolls with pork also lack luster, but the peanut sauce saved the day. The ice Vietnamese coffee was ok, if it didn't have this burned aftertaste to it. We planned to sit inside and eat, but quickly changed our minds as the backless chairs are too high for the "oil barrel" table and uncomfortable to sit. Also the inside of the restaurent seems to lack of life. So we took the food to go. The food did come out fast, with everything precooked, but thrown together before the customers to seem "freshly made". Overall, unimpressive and wouldn't revisit. read more

Fun interior when you walk in and relatively easy to find in the first level of the Discovery bay condominium across from the Modern hotel. Just look at McDonald's and think "I should eat that junk" then look to the right and right there next to the stairs on the right. The menu is small but we'll rounded. Good portions and reasonably priced. My wife had the sautéed vegan - tofu pho and noodles and I had the Vietnamese chicken salad. She loved hers instantly complimenting Frank the executive chef at first glance. I tried a piece of the tofu and it was indeed taste with subtle nuance of flavors. My salad was delicious as well with shredded chicken, fried onions, pickled cabbage and romaine lettuce accompanied by a sweet and tangy I think Nước chấm sauce as dressing and fresh mint. Very good and very refreshing. It's honestly a great addition to the area and a fun environment with the oil drum tables and they are indeed playing Rock and roll.
