I see that I wrote this review 9 years ago and I will tell you my review wouldn't change an iota. Peter Lee, besides being one of the nicest people I've ever known, is like an old master. He is a craftsman that really knows his trade. If a watch is broken yet fixable, he will fix it. I wouldn't trust anyone else with a valuable time piece. He also stocks some beautiful legacy time pieces for sale. The only negative reviews I notice on Yelp seem to be related to the shop not being open or Peter being unavailable by phone. I'm sure Peter missed having the opportunity to accommodate a potential client but people have lives and things happen. If you have a little patience, you will never regret the excellent service that Peter offers. read more

Peter Lee, the owner of the Watch Gallery, is the BEST watch repairman, the Most Ethical businessman and the Happiest person to deal with that I know. I am not an expert in the following matter, however I feel that his charges for the work that he does, are too low. I've been going to Peter for decades; The following example is why I keep returning: My good dress watch stopped working, I thought it was just a dead battery, so I brought it into Peter. He put a new battery into the watch and it still did not work. Peter said, " If it does not work with a new battery, then it needs a new movement (new insides) which is $200.00 and it will take one week." That is a very reasonable price. But I made the mistake of not leaving my phone #. So, when I returned in one week, Peter said, " About 20 minutes after you left, last week, the watch just started working, so all you need is a $20 battery". A less ethical businessman easily could have just left my movement in my watch, since it started working, and collected the $200 which I HAD authorized and I would not have been any the wiser. Watch battery die? Need a resizing? Need it for somewhat cheap? Watch Gallery might just be for you. I've been trying to find a place to fix my watches - one had a dead battery, one needed to be desperately resized - and I really had to get them fixed because I can't live life without a watch (ha, now you know what to get me as a gift!, jk). It's located nicely on Burlingame Avenue... but this place is kind of hard to find... it's on the lower level of the building. So walk down the stairs and you'll see a baby store go left and it's in the back corner where the elevator is. There isn't really a sign, but you'll see watches, so you know you'll be at the right place. It's kind of small - I mean it is run and owned by one guy. Okay so I walked in... kind of eerie. But the watch repairmen just says "Can I help you"... not even a "hello"! I mean it's good and bad, but I felt rushed. You can definitely know your watch will be fixed ASAP. I told him about my watches and he gives me the price of $15 each. Not bad for a new battery and for links to be taken off... Anyways, it was done in 10 minutes or faster. I told him I was stepping out and that I'd come back and he was totally fine with it. My total price was about $33 with tax.. It's not bad. But it was done quick and right. I got a brand new working watch and the links back incase I need it sized up. So thank you watch gallery! If service was a bit more friendly and not a rushy feel - I would have liked the place more. read more

Hidden within the lower level of an indoor plaza along Burlingame ave. is the watch gallery. The bf needed a link to be added to his rolex quickstyle so that he could wear it at his brothers wedding. We called a bunch other watch/jewelry stores but Watch Gallery quoted us with a good price (15 bucks to add a link) and no wait time. Once there the service to add a link was really fast. The watch person was really nice and helpful when my bf didn't know how many more links the guy should add. The store has a bunch of vintage watches also. read more

I really enjoyed my experience at Watch Gallery with Peter. Here's a brief recap of my "Goldilocks" experience - I needed a watch battery replaced. As I strutted down Burlingame Ave., I came across a jewelry shop that had a watch repair sign. At this shop, I was quoted $45 to replace the battery after showing the shop my watch (don't you love when shops make up prices based on the monetary value of your item - the more expensive the item, the higher they feel they can charge). Although a nice watch, I knew the price sounded way too high...fail. I went to a second shop where I was told the wait time would be two hours...again, fail. As determined as can be, I finally stumbled upon Peter's shop where the wait time was 5 minutes and the price was $35 for the battery replacement. The experience was excellent and I went a few days later to repair a second watch battery - another 5 star worthy experience. Peter is fair, honest and works quickly. The Watch Gallery is an incredible resource for the watch lover living in the Burlingame / San Mateo area. Over the last 15 years, the owner Peter has helped me with everything from sizing a new watch to fit my wrist to completely restoring a gold pocket watch that was handed down to me from my great grandfather. He rebuilt the Swiss movement, refinished the gold plating and replaced the crystal face so the watch looks like it is brand new even though it is over 100 years old. He also has a selection of watches available for purchase in the shop. Some of the brands he carries are Bulova, Sieko, and Citizens. I found Peter on Yelp and based on the reviews decided to check him out. I was very pleased to be greeted by Peter as soon as I stepped in to his store/shop. He had a few watches on display in cases and a small, if not cramped workspace in a corner. After telling him what I needed, he quoted me a fair price and even suggested a clean and polish for a few Dollars more. I was happy to accept. I damaged my watch changing the battery myself. The watch was gift that was over 25 years old, so it was important to me to repair it. Its working again and I hope to have it with me for another 25 years. Labor rate seemed a bit high, no doubt it would have been half the cost in the east bay. So that's why only 4 stars. read more

Twice I've been here at "opening" time and twice they were still closed. I don't know about you but my time is valuable and making a stop at a dealer that's supposed to be open is irritating. This is NOT a good way to run a business and get new customers. I've all ready put money in the meter so I need to stay for 15 more minutes. I was looking for a watch repair shop and called Watch Gallery several times this morning, no answer except a generic answering machine. When I went to the shop, a sign on the door said "Closed for vacation July 8 - 25." What??? If you're going to close your business for that long, you should also leave a message to that effect on the answering machine. That could have saved me a 45-minute round-trip waste of time. My Marc Jacobs watch battery ran out even though Nordstrom said it would last 2-3 years, and I didn't think it was worth my time to return it so I sought out a local watch repair place. The sign says open 10am to 5pm and my boyfriend and I arrived at 3pm and the door was locked. We knocked and no one responded so we walked away. As we were walking away the shopkeeper opened up the door. In my mind I already was wondering why on earth you would lock the door during business hours. The shopkeeper was able to replace my battery in 2 minutes, and my boyfriend asked if he could pop the back of his watch back in, as he tried to see if he could repair my watch on his own by practicing on his. The shopkeeper took it and was able to pop it back in. He then charged me out, without a receipt, which had me wondering if he charged me for popping my boyfriend's watch back back in. This little shop is kind of hidden in a small shopping center. (You have to go downstairs to find it on the right side.) My honda car key ran out of batteries, but the little screws were impossible to take out! Peter was super helpful. He brought more tools back to help open the little plastic case, when still unsuccessful, he took my key home to spend more time.
