That's why we kept coming back, we visited over 20 times because we genuinely liked the place. Unfortunately, over time the experience changed. As the staff changed, so did the level of customer service. The consistency just wasn't there. Some visits were enjoyable, while others felt disorganized, and the staff sometimes came across as argumentative rather than customer-focused. The visit that ended it for us involved a new server who insisted we leave a credit card to keep on file. In more than 20 previous visits, we had never once been asked to do that. We politely explained that this had never been the policy during any of our prior visits and declined. After that conversation, the server essentially stopped serving us. She ignored our table, relied on other employees to assist us, and even made us wait to pay because she refused to help. It made us feel unwelcome and as though our business no longer mattered. We understand that businesses can update their policies, but those changes should be communicated respectfully and enforced consistently. If the policy had truly changed, a simple explanation would have gone a long way. Instead, we were treated differently because we asked questions. It's unfortunate because we really enjoyed this place in the beginning. However, one negative experience can outweigh many positive ones, especially when it leaves you feeling unwelcome. We won't be returning, and we hope management takes customer service and consistency seriously so future guests have a better experience.

Wear comfortable shoes. There was a $10 pp charge and cash only. Not sure why the reviews speak so negatively about security. They were all very friendly and welcoming with me and husband. There's plenty of seating inside and outside and no charge for tables. It was slow when we arrived around 10 pm but there was a live DJ playing trap and hip hop. It slowly filled up and by 12 there was no seating available. The crowd was predominately black which was comforting since my husband and I are a biracial couple (he's black im Puerto Rican) and we barely came across many black people or Hispanics for that matter, in the Scottsdale area. It felt welcoming and they played the music we had been looking for the entire weekend. We got a hoohak and a few drinks. The hookah is about $65 and the drinks are highly priced which is common in that area so it was expected but the drinks were strong so we couldn't complain at the price. There were only servers but they were both on top of it and constantly checked on our table. Security was also helping a lot with seating staff, cleaning tables and even changing out hot coals. Overall it is THE place we've been in search for. It is so much better than in an overcrowded club with no place to sit. This will be our go to place and I can see that it's also plenty of customers favorite as well since I witness a lot of the customers being greeted with hugs like they were family. Don't listen to the reviews and check it out for yourself. This place is a great vibe, I highly recommend.

On a Saturday evening, I was unexpectedly looking for a hookah spot so I hopped on the trusty Yelp…read moreapp. It had been at least a year and a half since I last smoked hookah, so this is a rare occasion for me. Axis Hookah Lounge was the closest one to where I was, and the reviews were solid, so I made my way over. They're located in a shopping center along with several other businesses including a Latin club. Parking wasn't an issue. Ambiance (4/5): While it doesn't look like much from the outside, the inside is pretty nice. There is plenty of seating, mostly comfortable red couches. Which makes for a nice way to kick back and relax. There are also some tables if you'd prefer that instead. The seating is spaced out well enough where you have a little bit of privacy. And they were also playing music while I was there. Service (3.5/5): Pretty much your standard service. We were greeted upon entering, allowed to pick our seats, we ordered promptly, and the waiter brought our hookah to us. I had to proactively order drinks and close out, but overall, the service was fine. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior, so no food for me. I did notice they have crepes, but I'm not sure if they have more than that. Drinks (3/5): I had a Gatorade. They have various cans and bottles including water, La Croix, Coke, pineapple juice, and various other soft drinks and juices. No alcohol here. Which isn't uncommon as many hookah spots are Middle Eastern. Some hookah spots have alcohol and some don't. I prefer spots that do. Now to what's most important, the hookah. Pretty much your standard options. They have a good number of their own creations or you can create your own mixing fruit flavors, mint, etc. We went with one of the creations and hung around for about an hour or so. The price of the hookah was reasonable. I'd return.

Their shisha selection is next level, with options to upgrade your experience with fruit bowls, ice tips, flavored tips, and more--it really elevates the whole session. His recommendations were spot on, and his customer service was a solid 10/10. And because I had not tried any spots out since my return to Phoenix, we decided to use Yelp to find this place. As hookah lounges go, I found this one to be super chill, but pretty spacious and accommodating. Service was on point, as we got to the location after 10 P.M. and were still properly greeted and served as soon as we walked in. It is a self seat environment with multiple lounges and TVs. Some of the TVs even have PlayStation and Xbox set up on it if that's your thing. My homeboy actually played a little bit of FIFA with somebody that was already hanging out while we sat there and talked for a while. They have a wide selection of drinks, juices and sodas, but I didn't see any food selection, so I would definitely prepare accordingly. Overall, if I am interested in having a bit of hookah, this is probably the place I would try out again.

But, if you're looking for a really cool bar, KWSC is for you. I stopped by on a week day evening around 8:30 p.m. Located in Roosevelt Row, while there isn't parking, I found free parking on the street a few minutes away on foot. Ambiance (4.5/5): My type of spot. Dimly lit with a speakeasy vibe. There are eight or so seats at the bar, and the rest of your seating options consist of comfortable chairs and sofas. You'll see a lot of photos of people's bums on the walls lol. This is indeed part of the appeal. For free, if you would like, they will take a polaroid of your butt and memorialize you eternally on the walls. While I didn't do that, if that's up your alley, go for it. Service (2/5): This is the main area of improvement. After being seated, I was greeted promptly and got my first cocktail promptly. From there, things fell apart. I had to grab the bartender's attention to order my second drink and to close out. It was a week day and they weren't busy. And there were two bartenders. A lack of attentiveness. When I closed out, I noticed that the cocktails were both $2 more expensive than what was listed on the menu. When I inquired, I was told that the menus were outdated... umm what? If you're not going to re-print your menus, give people a heads-up when they arrive. I understand that most people won't notice, but this is deception. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet. If you're trying to eat here, all they have is snacks. The menu doesn't specify but I'm thinking it's probably chips or somethign like that. Drinks (4/5): A lengthy, and interesting, cocktail list. Similar to a speakeasy, you're going to see creativity and an interesting blend of flavors here. The most popular drink is Fuck Nazis. We're seeing a theme here. KWSC is an interesting spot. For various dollar amounts, you can get funny things outside of the polaroids of your bum. My first cocktail was great. My second one, a tiki drink, not so much. The menu said that there would be some flame action happening. It didn't. Just another example of the service falling short. If the service were better, Killer Whale Sex Club would easily be a five-star experience.

The atmosphere was unique, the bartenders were genuinely engaging, and there was a real sense of community that made every visit memorable. It became my go-to spot to bring friends from out of town and every single person I brought absolutely loved it! Back then, the cocktails felt intentional and creative, not just rushed out for volume. The staff remembered regulars, conversations flowed naturally, and the whole place had this warm, eclectic energy that made you want to stay for hours. Even on busy nights, it somehow still felt personal. Unfortunately, over the last couple of years, the vibe has changed quite a bit. The drinks just aren't as consistently good as they used to be, especially considering the prices now. Service feels far more transactional and impersonal, and the atmosphere that once made this place stand out has faded into something much more generic. It feels less like a neighborhood gem and more like a stop on a nightlife circuit.
