I love Torchys. I have been to most of (if not all) the Torchys around town. This one's tacos are wonderful just like all of the other ones'. The wait can get a little backed up, but that is to be expected in Austin. What sets this Torchys aside from the others is the (I am assuming) manager. There was a middle aged gentleman walking around the restaurant making sure everyone was happy and he noticed my little brother seemed unhappy with his food. My brother had asked for no onions on his taco but got his taco smoothered (like double the normal amount) of onions. My brother didn't want to say anything, but he really hates onions. He at first told the manager that nothing was wrong. But about 3 minutes later looked back at the manager and the manager offered to get him a new taco because something was clearly wrong. My brother told him he asked for now onions. Manager left my brothers taco tray on the table and within a minute was back with a new taco without onions. The other people at the table then helped themselves to my brothers onion taco and my brother was happy with his fresh no onion taco. Thank you Mr. Manager. I have never had a bad experience at this Torchys. Always tasty food, always nice workers, and always a clean restaurant. read more

When eating at Torchy's Tacos the atmosphere felt warm and bar like, but without the alcohol. The establishment was very clean all around and the food is delicious for the price you can get it for. Their menu is quite big as well giving many options to choose from. As for drinks, they have one soda fountain with the usual selections. The service was as to be expected from an establishment such as this. You order your food then they take it to you (Our food got delivered fairly fast) and after that you're on your own. read more

This review is for the 11521 Ranch Rd 620 N location. I have enjoyed Torchy's for years and it has been a lunch place for me and my wife for years. We frequent the Spicewood Springs location and for the 2 years we were in Houston it was the one in the Heights. This location (11521 Ranch Rd 620 N location) in particular gives the entire franchise a bad name. The last 3 times we have been there the food takes a minimum of 20 to 30 min to arrive. The last 2 to go orders were wrong. The food runners are rude and would rather look at Facebook on their phone than do there job, o and when I politely asked for more chips (for the chips a queso we got 20 min in) because the food was not there after 40min I got a "NO we don't do that." Now I can take a joke, but when my food is taking longer than it would for me to walk over to HEB, get the ingredients my self and make a better taco on the asphalt in the parking lot... That's not funny, you jerk. Is there a manager? I don't know and if there is what the hell is he or she doing. The kitchen is SLOW and unable to get orders correct on a slow day, food runners are worthless... On a side note, we went this afternoon and my wife has been ill since we went. I have a love/ hate relationship with Torchy's, there will be some good days with the establishment and then some awful ones which make you to sit in bed and type a Yelp review. I've been coming to this location ever since it has opened, and they started off pretty good with their service and tacos. But after some time I've noticed the tacos have gotten smaller and the service has dropped drastically. I get the online orders more than anything, and every-time I open the bag I get disappointed. You'd think if you order online there wouldn't be a communication gap, and your order wouldn't end up getting messed with, wrong! & why can't we have the taco bags under some damn heat lamps?!! They are always so so so damn cold, or soggy, it's hard to enjoy mush. The attitude in the front is ridiculous also, we asked for extra pico, and the lady said "we're not allowed to give more than 4 pico" like what do you want me to do? We even told her to charge us extra if it's about money, like it's not a big deal, it's literally 5 pieces of diced tomato, what are you really this concerned about? It's just irritating to love the taste of the taco but hate everything else about the experience. Oh and the prices are insanely high, 3 tacos can come out to $13 bucks minimum. read more

Decided to try picking up because curbside was not an option when ordering online. It was the first time I've gone in a restaurant to pick up food since the beginning of the pandemic, and I was very disappointed and uncomfortable. First of all, I walked in and told the employee my name and she told me they would call it out and to wait down at the other end. Then, while I'm standing waiting, a couple of managers appeared to be hiring someone at a table, none of them wearing masks. They weren't eating, absolutely no reason to not wear a mask. Also while I'm standing there waiting, a bunch of teenagers walked in with no masks. They didn't seem to care. Also while I'm standing there, I can see people turning in their buzzers and an employee just carrying them over to be reused, no sanitation at all. After waiting for 20 minutes, I decided to ask at the front where my food is. It had been sitting there at the front for who knows how long. I told her I was told they were going to call my name out on the other end and her reply was "no". I've had issues with Torchy's before, but after this I will never be returning. Unsanitary and poor customer service. Oh, and my food was cold. read more

I've been keeping my eyes on this location for months ever since I saw the small signs around the shopping center. It's finally opened! The line was long and a little slow, but I attribute that to new customers as well as new staff easing into things. Once my order was in, the wait for my food was moderate. I ordered two Trailer Parks ("trashy," of course) and the Green Chile Queso. I'm used to getting the queso at the register, but the wait wasn't long--someone already brought it out before I was finished getting my drink. My only complaint here is that the queso was only served warm rather than hot. The Trailer Parks were good as always though I had to double check it when it was brought out because the "trashy" queso was hidden at the bottom of the tacos. YAY! Finally a Torchy's around where I live! :) Yum yum yum. You're paying a little more for their tacos, but it's SOOOOOO worth it! OMG! Went to Torchy's for the first time today. My son mentioned how good they were in a conversation last night and so we had to go. These were the best tacos we've ever had, by far. I had a Green Chili Pork and a Chicken Fajita, my wife had a Dirty Sanchez and The Independent. Each one was loaded with great ingredients that complimented one another. Each bite was just an explosion of flavor. Only issue for some may be the price. At $3.25-$4.75 each it can get pricey if you have a large appetite. They are quite large so we could of just gotten one each and been satisfied, but the left overs made a nice snack later in the day. As you can tell we really, really loved this place. That sounded like something I needed to try. It's wonderful. I've gotten my wife hooked on Torchy's too. My favorite is the Trashy Trailer Park taco. I also recommend the Democrat. Good food, lousy restaurant. The music was so loud that everyone had to talk over it which made it even louder. I had to shout to my husband who was a foot away!! This is not a night club, but sure felt like one. The menu board was great, but the registers are in front of the drink machine and the entrance to the kitchen. People are bumping into each other while trying to order, get drinks and avoid the waitstaff. I was really looking forward to eating here, but now may only order To Go items and eat in comfort at home. What a waste! read more

Very delicious food. Fairly overpriced but I keep returning for the Wrangler, definitely my favorite taco. We just moved up north, so we end up eating at the 620 location most often, which is always busy, so it's slow. Pros- very good food. The Ranchand is your basic steak and egg breakfast taco, but you can order it all day long. What really makes it special is that it comes by default with the Torchy's Sauce. This is a bright orange habrenero based salsa that hits like glowing lava straight from the flanks of Popocatépetl. If you follow your bite with a sip of hot coffee you can get the full effect. WoW! The burn doesn't last too long as your head fills with endorphins and your mouth fills with intense flavors. Dairy, such as the queso, is the best way to cut the burn, especially if you are new to chiles. My only complaint is the corn tortillas. They don't cook them or at best lightly steam them. This means they fall apart when exposed to any moisture so if you get your taco with corn tortillas you pretty much have to eat it with a fork as it disintegrates if picked up. read more

Went there for the first time yesterday since we just opened up our pool business across the street and absolutely LOVED it. The eclectic ingredients on the tacos was quite impressive. Came here on a recommendation from the staff at Lake Travis Zipline Adventures and we were not disappointed! I had 2 beef fajita tacos and my wife had the Baja shrimp taco. We did Torchy's three times during our first trip to Austin- twice for dinner and once for breakfast. All I can say is everyone in our group agreed it was worth the early stop in the morning before we headed out of town to get their breakfast tacos! I have ordered from here many of times and this is the third time they have failed to put the avocados on my tacos. And it would be fine if it was just one time but this happening too often considering I can just go to H-E-B and get a 68 cent avocado rather than spend 50 cents each for a tiny slice. On top of that but literally my order was due at 8:06. Didn't walk out with my food until 8:24. If you're going to be late, please, at least get the order right. Usually very good in the past, tonite it was very slow and terrible. 20 mins for 5 tacos to go when there were 8 other people inside and 12 outside. The tacos were all COLD, and the corn tortillas were dried out and tough like leather. Won't be going back, you can't recover from such a poor experience for this client. I love me some tacos - and Torchy's makes some pretty damn good ones. My favorite thing on their menu, though, is the green chili queso - spicy cheese and avocado - can I get a what-what?! Yumm-o. Now, back to the tacos. Whatever you order will be overstuffed. Lots of meat, lots of toppings - you will definitely not need to worry about getting your $3-4 worth. The chicken fajita is probably one of the healthiest things on the menu, and I always get one because of that, and it's always really tasty, espcially drenched with a mix of their awesome salsas. Compared to Taco Deli (hands down my favorite taco place in Austin) they don't have a huge menu, which is fine with me typically, but as I've recently given up eating read meat, it really limits the possibilities. When I did eat red meat, the Democrat always rocked my socks. I'm happy that they showed some love to the NW side of town with the new place on 620 - it's nice to still partake in some of the hipster Austin vibe out in the burbs. read more

I ate here a few weeks back. Everything was great, I had the queso and two traiker trash tacos which consisted of fried chicken lettuce tomatoes and cheese with a sauce. I even enjoyed their soda selection which is all natural and local, I give them an A+ for healthier choices there. The employee helping bus the tables was great too.
