Torchys tacos are ridiculously tasty! I tried both types of quest and I prefer the hillbilly quest and chips. This one has chorizo in it and a much better flavor than the regular green chile queso. The green chile queso is very hot (spicy to the taste)!!! I also had a couple of the tacos during my stay next door. The tacos are very good and way overfilled but tasty! Mama says Torchy's gets a 5 for creativity! I had the Baja shrimp taco and the catfish one. Both super creative, delicious, and worth almost 5 bucks a taco. But the show stopper was the queso. No matter what you do at this spot, you've got to get the chips and queso. You'll see me in the streets and you'll thank me for the recommendation. I went to UT in Austin, and lived right next to the Torchy's there. You could imagine my excitement when I found out there was a Torchy's in Fort Worth! I love this location! Great atmosphere. There's usually a pretty long line during breakfast/brunch time, but it goes by pretty quickly. My typical order consists of Chips & Queso, Wrangler breakfast taco, & Ranch Hand breakfast taco. My sister came up with the brilliant idea of dividing up the filling into two tacos. I think I will do that next time. It really makes eating the tacos a little easier. I enjoyed the green chile pork. It had a great kick to it. The meat was tender but just a tad salty. The brush fire was different. it was good with the Jamaican jerk chicken but it was not my favorite. I did love the diablo sauce that was served with it. The democrat was probably my favorite. I love beef barbacoa and avocados so that was the perfect match for me. The fajita tacos were surprisingly good too. The meat was well seasoned and very moist. The guacamole here is really good and fresh. They don't really give you much but you'll savor every bite. I like that they use Maine Root sodas in their soda fountains. Came this morning for the grand opening... Then came back for lunch! Stop judging me. They had such tasty breakfast tacos I knew lunch would kick ass! The chorizo, egg and cheese on flour was huge! Way more than enough than enough for breakfast. You can order any taco anytime of day :) the fried avocado taco is amazing- creamy, crunchy and smothered in pablano sauce. The refried beans are so flavorful. The street corn is dead on. I love the patio- it opens to the bar. Great addition to the hospital district! I know there's a ton of taco joints in funky town but this place takes the cake. I'm looking forward to the tacos of the month and patio weather! read more

Love, love, love Torchy's! Their tacos are so great-different ingredients sort of combined in such a way to melt my heart. They have a wide variety of tacos to choose from, including chicken, steak, fish, and veggie. They also boast a full bar, and have one of my favorites- a skinny margarita! The bartenders are quick and smiling. The atmosphere is flashy and cool. Feels kind of like a fast food joint with the comforts of a traditional restaurant. You can stay a while, sit and chat, have a drink, etc. This place is doing it right. read more

The menu and food was okay, the place and the people ruined my dinner... Again... Fool me twice shame on me. The place was full of flies again. The food servers were rude and sullen again. The part that really annoyed me was when the bar tenders (2) were flirting and slicing limes instead of helping me for several minutes despite my desperate glares. The manager had to insist they pay enough attention to help me. When I asked for two house tequilas dressed and chilled the dude gave me two patron shots! twenty-two bucks! What the deuce?! Food came out okay but kind of luke warm. Place has a bad case of the hipsters. Too much pomp. Not enough circumstance. Plus the flies really gross me out. I was staying at the hotel next to Torchy's Tacos for a wedding and had heard great things about the place. Unfortunately, the service we experienced on our very first visit ensured we wouldn't return during the rest of our stay. I met with a few other people from the wedding that were already at the bar and had to wait awhile to get a drink. I've worked in restaurants for over 5 years so I'm pretty patient and understanding with servers and bartenders when they're busy but they weren't that busy and we weren't being obnoxious to warrant the inattentive service. However, I noticed we were being skipped over and ignored as the night went on and we had to repeatedly get either of the bartenders attention to get our drinks. Up to this point was just irritating but not that serious. It's what happened with the manager that really put the nail in the coffin for me with this place. The group I was with was a mix of prior service or still active duty military. We have a tradition involving "challenge coins." Those not carrying a challenge coin after being challenged usually owe the rest of the group a drink. Shortly after we had slammed our coins down to challenge each other and got a little loud because of it, the manager comes up and tells us that we cannot gamble. We understand how the coins may look like gambling chips to the uninformed and try to explain to him that it's a military tradition while also putting the coins away . He abruptly cuts us off and in a very condescending tone says "Well, can we use our military indoor voices then?" We decided to take our business elsewhere after that. I had been at the bar for maybe over an hour and none of us were belligerent or drunk in anyway. We did get loud for maybe around 20 seconds when we were challenging each other with the coins but didn't warrant the lack of professionalism and patronizing tone from the manager, Tandy. Also, as we closed our tabs the bartenders apologized superfluously for how the manager acted...I get it, you don't want it to affect your tip. Thanks for showing interest in us now rather than when we were trying to order from you. Get trashy! I was hesitant once I saw the menu- not the kind of tacos I'm used to- but I was well proven wrong. I really dig the decor- garage/man cave-ish with stainless accents and simple designs. They have a bar- but I would hardly call it full. My dining companion had the margarita and I opted for a beer. She said it was really good- and she's a big drinker so I just took her word. We also started with the queso- its one of the best I've ever had- and you can ask for the hot version and they add the diablo sauce that is on the brushfire taco. Now the tacos seem expensive- I get it- but its not like its a street vendor- and they are larger than I expected. I made the mistake of ordering four when two were more than plenty. I opted for two on the menu and two on the secret menu I read about online. They double the corn tortilla to hold up against the massive filling which contributes to my advice for not being a fat kid and over ordering. Trailer Park- crispy chicken strips, green chilies, lettuce and pico. You can get it "trashy" and they add that delectable queso all over it. Brushfire- jerk chicken, jalapenos, mango, cilanto and sour cream. It has this amazingly, crazy hot Diablo sauce- get and extra side of it. And two from the secret menu- Mad Cow- steak, corn, black beans, cilanto, cheese and a ranch drizzle Matador-chopped brisket, grilled jalapenos, onion, avacado, cilanto and salsa verde and sour cream sauce. I ended up eating all of the brushfire and just nibbling on the rest- the queso gets free chip refills so I completely destroyed it before I got my food. I had a grande chicken burrito ($8.50) which not up to par with size (which is probably good for my thighs) but good lord does it compensate for it with flavor!!! Their diablo sauce is not messing around and will knock you on your ass if you don't do hot foods. I'd say the fare is similar to Yes Taco but I'm still quite partial to the food truck love of my life. This place can be pricey though. A single taco runs anywhere from $3.5-$5. They have a variety to choose from. I was eyeballing the trailer park taco (it's got fried chicken in it!) but opted for a burrito instead. Their appetizers look great as well (I think I spied ahi tuna ceviche on the list) but was in a hurry to get back home and not eating there. Decor is nice and they have a covered patio area. The one staff member that helped me off seemed a bit aloof but the others seemed friendly. They have a full bar also. This place would probably be great. TRYING TOO HARD! Yeah, we get it, you're super hip-with your brake light wall, and plywood decor, and clever names for all your tacos. But you can't just be hip; you have to be good, too! Some of our order bordered on greatness: the queso, the green chili pork taco. Most of our order lived up to mediocrity, and some of it was downright bad (I'm talking about you, lukewarm sausage "Republican Taco"). Not great, both in food and in service, mediocre at best. The place was super packed for a Friday lunch, but I decided to wait it out. The person at the counter was impatient and a little rude; I understand you're busy, but each customer deserves a fair shake. The tacos were really not that great, more fancy than tasty. I had the fajita beef on corn tortillas, with some pico that come in it. The meat was dry, either overcooked or cooked earlier and sat in anticipation of the lunch rush. The tuna with cabbage slaw was the same. A giant hunk of tuna with a flavorless pink mayo sauce on top. Again it looked great, but was dry and overcooked. It was called Mr. Pink, but it was so overdone it should be called Mr. Gray. The slaw on it was cool and sweet, best part of the meal. Also, the sodas are a "trendy" brand - just tasted like the grocery store brand of Coke or Dr Pepper. While eating my chair was bumped repeatedly by staff (never once by a customer). Later when I went for a refill, two employees seemingly had a debate about job roles in front of the soda fountain while I waited. Really Torchy's? I love Torchy's. When I was going to school, Torchy's was my study fuel/ heck I just want a greasy taco fuel. I think this Torchy's is representative of the many I've been to- friendly service and delicious tacos/ sauces. I love the salsas here. The avocado, Diablo, and tomatillo go on all my tacos, though I'd advocate trying them all. My personal favorites are the Wrangler ( brisket, egg, and potato), the green chile pork, and the fried avocado. Sometimes with tacos, I think simpler can be better, but there's something about Torchy's "everything but the kitchen sink" style that works. Delicious tacos! So I recently placed a to-go order and didn't think my tacos tasted fresh. So that's the only reason I would withhold a star. This place has a nice aesthetic, and the branding/ decor here is cool. I honestly don't know how this place has its current rating. It was terrible. Horrible. I'm a restaurant manager myself and I just couldn't believe the type of service that is given here. The bartenders (more than one) were extremely rude. They both were extremely unhelpful and looked at us as if we were retarded when we asked questions, it being our first time here. We ordered, the food runner came and delivered our food in a to go bag and basically dropped it on our table. We had two separate tabs. It was extremely terrible. I would never be back and it was extremely disappointing as I really wanted to like this place. When I talked to the manager, he was simply arrogant and boasting about how he couldn't believe that this place had bad service, and how the store made 10 million a year, I could barely get a word in. We met up with a few friends here. Parking here is limited but we were lucky to find parking. We went around 2 pm and this place was jammed packed. The line was long but it went through really fast. We sat out on the Patio as it was a beautiful day. This location has a full bar! The drinks are pricey though especially the Top Shelf margaritas which will cost you $14.50. Geez. I ordered the Grilled Baja Shrimp taco. Oh it was fantastic. The shrimp was perfectly seasoned. My friends ordered the Queso. Oh the Queso is so good here. It was very flavorful and creamy. It was so good. My friend said the Mr. Orange taco was really good. She said everything about the taco from the salmon to the toppings were really good. This has become a frequent spot for my friends and coworkers for a little over a year. Some of the best breakfast tacos you'll ever eat are available at this establishment and I adore the small cozy feel of the restaurant and the unique style of the restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor seating as well as bar seating too. Definitely a staple for many medical professionals aka my nurse friends to hit up after a long shift. When he returned I figured out what I wanted, ordered was given a number and went to the bar to wait. I kid you not, 30 seconds later the same guy that took my order walked up to me with a taco and asked if I was waiting for my bean and cheese taco. Mind you, I had JUST ordered and all my dishes I did order were dairy free. When I got my tacos home none of them were good. I am in no big hurry to return. Then they had our drink order wrong, so we went to the bar and asked her to please fix your mistake. She said that we were wrong and that she wasn't going to fix it. In the food category, this place gets 5 stars across the board. The tacos I ordered were easily some of the best tacos I have had in a very long time. They also have Agave Wheat on tap, so that's another A+ in my book. The reason I am rating this 3 stars as opposed to 4 or 5 is the price. For 3 tacos and a beer, I ended up paying $18. That is totally ridiculous for such a small amount of food. The tacos I ordered were the trailer park, trashy style (which means no lettuce and they add queso) which has fried chicken as the meat. So good. I also ordered the one that comes with jerk chicken and pineapples and jalepenos, I can't remember what it's called on the menu but this one was easily my favorite. Disclaimer: it can get pretty spicy if you aren't used to hot. A friend of mine was sweating after eating his haha. I also got the fajita chicken which is just your classic fajita chicken taco with all the veggies and I believe it had sour cream on it? Their salsas are all pretty delicious too. I recommend their jalapeno/sour cream style salsa. All in all, I was super happy with the food just pretty bummed about the price. So when we heard that they were opening in Fort Worth, we awaited the open eagerly. The night I arrived the place is packed, but I thought It would be ok since I was getting food to go. Wrong! Arrived at 7:30, waited in a long line out to the door, ordered food at 7:50, and then waited over 45 min for my food to arrive. About 25 min in, I inquired with the staff about my order (who were polite) and they said that their kitchen staff was swamped and my food was 'on the way'. No free chips or brownie to smooth things over, though - a shame. The food may be good, but not worth the wait tonight. So many tacos, so little time! The number of taco choices on their menu was like walking into a candy store. My eyes were glistening, and my mouth was watering, but it's impossible to take a bite of every taco. Luckily for me, the person at the register was extremely helpful and patient. She looked delighted when I told her it was my first time at Torchy's, and warned that I should only order two since they were pretty big. Taking her advice to heart, I order three tacos so that I could have one for breakfast: Dirty Sanchez for breakfast (scrambled eggs), the Trailer Park (fried chicken), and Crossroads (brisket). The Trailer Park and Crossroads were so tasty that I had to try the Dirty Sanchez for dinner, and of course I then overate and that knocked me out for the rest of the night. The tacos were also pretty well priced, most of them were ~$4. I also like that they have a few dedicated parking spots for people taking-out. this place is really good! i went in with an open mind and i didnt read any reviews because i didnt want it to be over hyped. i had the trailer park tacos and got them dirty. very tasty id like 4 more haha. my friends got the fajita and mr pink and they thoroughly enjoyed em. their guacamole was very good i loved the little spice from it but the downside was the chips to guac ratio was very disappointing. i prob needed 3 more orders of guac. but any who it was good. the place was kinda small the tables were trying to be fancy it took away room and that caused a lot of bumping into each other. that wasnt fun lol. the service was fast and it wasnt like mcdonalds fast so that was good, cause mcdonalds fast means its just sitting there waiting to be put together, which is gross. but this tasted fresh and made me wanting more. must try this place at least once! and be courageous. read more

These are the best tacos I've ever had in life. And I'm Mexican... so I've had a loooot of tacos. Don't be put off by the prices "per taco"...they are huge and if you order with corn tortillas, you will be served with 2 so you can easily split the taco into 2 tacos. Hubby and I have been twice and we order chips and queso (AH-MAZING! a stronger kick than most quesos I've had...a plus in my book) and one taco each and that is completely enough to fill us both up. They have a nice bar and patio area and various happy hour specials throughout the week. Their fountain sodas are not the big brands like Coke and Dr. Pepper. I forget the name of the brand they use. Maine something- I've never tried it but people seem to enjoy it. I stick to tea always (I am a Texan after all) and their tea is fantastic. Customer service has been great both times I've been. We went during the dinner rush one weekday (about 6pm) and the line was to the door. A bartender came over to let us know you can bypass the line & go straight to sit @ the bar and can order there. Same thing for the Brushfire (jerk chicken with mango and diablo sauce)--the chicken was moist and flavorful, the mangoes were fresh, and cut nice and big. Warning, however: the diablo sauce is ridiculously hot; I didn't know how hot it was, so I just kind of poured it on my taco. Honestly, the taco is so good that I don't think it needs that hot of sauce (or any sauce, for that matter). My friend especially liked the Trailer Park (fried chicken with poblano sauce), extra trashy (no lettuce, add queso). I didn't understand all the hype about Torchy's Taco's in Fort Worth - I tried Torchy's in Austin back in my undergrad days and felt like the quality of the food was overrated and the location, cramped. However, the Torchy's in Ft Worth superceded my expectations - the location was spacious (with outdoor patio included) and vibrant, the food pretty delicious. Definitely a place I would hangout on Fri nights or somewhere I would take my out-of town friends. Chips were thin and addicting, guac with just the right texture and amount of salt. I ordered the Baja Shrimp taco and everything in that taco JUST WORKED - flavors of cabbage slaw, lime, cilantro, chipotle sauce meshed really well; the shrimp had the right amount of crunch; and the jalapeno gave the right amount of kick. Great Austin-style New American taco truck tacos at festival prices (two adults and 3 kids racked up a $65 tab with no alcohol). Breakfast tacos offer the best value. The Democrat and Independent and gutter punk are some of my favorite items. If you want a fajita taco or carnitas make the drive to Oak Cliff instead. The kids menu is a great value, although the cheese quesadilla ($1.50) is microscopic. The Little Wrecker ( two chicken strips plus fried avocado, under $5) is a tasty and filling option. Granted, this place was packed when we arrived, but no worries - we're from out of town and wanted our Torchy's, so a wait was fine by us. Thanks for the info, but her demeanor could have been much more welcoming. She seemed almost paranoid. We managed to get our order in and grab a seat. About 10 minutes later a guy says he has our order to-go. We politely say sorry, we didn't order to-go, so he leaves. About 5 minutes later he comes back and puts down food that is definitely not ours. We again state this is not our order, and his response was "Seriously?". Yes, seriously my man. We showed him the receipt and he left frustrated. Third time is a charm I guess, as the next time we were given food it was ours. Unfortunately it wasn't very hot, even bits of bacon being on the cold side. I understand they were crazy busy, but the location in Arlington that we visited the following day was equally as busy, and we had a 5-star experience there. It was as if the staff was made up of burnt-out college students recovering from a party. We did hear that our friends who live in Ft Worth order to-go all the time and have not had issues, so perhaps that's the way to go. They could not have chosen a better location for this place. As a night shifter in the medical field, this place is a HAVEN for us! Yay for open bar at 7 in the morning!!! We could not have asked for more! It's like our prayers were answered! I always get my morning mimosas. Certain bartenders are better than others. I hate it when they serve only half full of champagne. If it's a bartender that does, I'll get the Torchy's Tini, definitely more bang for your buck. Comes in a shaker and makes about 2.5-3 servings. Coworkers like the margaritas too, and they have a decent beer selection. For tacos I'm a stickler for the Democrat because of my love for barbacoa, and the Trailer Park Hill Billy Style. This one is from the secret menu and has the fried chicken with chorizo, bacon and cheese. How can that not be good?? The queso is also good and we always have someone get it to share. They do free refill on chips. Been going here since they opened a couple years ago. My favorite taco of the months are the Roscoe with waffle, tortilla, egg, bacon and fried chicken topped with syrup (April this year, previously March) and the Vagabond with beef fajita and chimichurri sauce (June). Heard they can make the Vagabond without the sauce year round. My coworkers gets the Wrangler and Ranch hand a lot too (breakfast tacos). I have been here once for lunch time and it gets PACKED so if you don't like lines or crowds, don't come at noon. If your a fellow night shifter near the medical district, this is a great place to relax after a hard night with a nice cold one. There's certainly a lot of hype around Torchy's and perhaps it's warranted, it's not bad and has a fun vibe. The queso is delicious and they certainly give you more than enough meat to fill the tortillas. I thought the brisket taco was dry, but most everything else was flavorful. However, I was disappointed that the delicious queso lacked fresh chips to accompany it...even more disappointing was the bottom of the barrel crumbs of chips we were served. read more

I've had decent luck in the past. The queso is probably the best menu item. Torchy Sauce is good too. The tacos are mediocre. Some interesting combinations but it's hard to get over the rubbery store bought-esque tortillas Restaurant is clean. Recently, I utilized the online ordering. I took for granted that the tacos would be what I ordered. Not so much. Ordered Mr Pink ended up with some taco with blackened white fish. I'd like to find out how to contact management. An online order was incorrect and there doesn't appear to be a real easy way to get in touch with someone. read more

The staff was great and they happen to open early enough for us "nightshifters" to come get dinner and a margaritas at 7:00 am. The food is another story. They have really catchy names that should actually have the word SALT in them. The food is too salty and fried to be enjoyed. The corn in the cup was not even that good. So, 7am drinking: good. Alright yall, if you are in the Fort Worth area and are in the mood for some modernized tacos, this is a good spot. But before you drive here I must say, I prefer Velvet Taco over Torchys. The two taco joints have a lot in common... Walk into a well decorated and funky place. The menus consist of about 12 different tacos that you've probably never heard of. Both will have a line out the door during lunch hour. And both have awesome fountain drinks. Patio seating available at both restaurants. Torchys does have a full bar, Velvet Taco has beer. All in all, I think Velvet Taco takes the gold. Not to say that Torchys doesn't give it a run for its money. read more
