Was in a takeout mood and decided to treat myself after finishing a stretch of nights at work. Haven't had Velvet Taco in quite some time so I decided to try it out again. For my order, I got the spicy tikka chicken, buffalo chicken, and an order of chips and guac. The tikka chicken tacos are a MUST. The flavor is great and, for me, the basmati rice is perfect tie-in for texture in the taco. I got three of them. I got one of the buffalo chicken just to change things up. It was good as well. No complaints with it. I just think the tikka is really the star of the show. Lastly, the chips and guac were tasty as well - I mean, how can you go wrong with chips and guac? Overall, would order again - Velvet Taco is a go-to for fusion tacos. read more

Great vegetarian tacos! I got one beer-battered cauliflower and one Nashville hot tofu taco. The cauliflower was more of a typical flavour for Americanized tacos while the tofu was more unique. Both well-executed though! The spice level on the tofu was medium at most; it wasn't too hot, but you could add hot sauce if you wanted it really hot. They were busy but the food was ready in a reasonable amount of time. Lots of seating including a large patio. Very very friendly staff. read more

Whenever I am in Fort Worth and close to a velvet taco, I just have to order. The first time I ordered was from Uber Eats because they have some really good promotions. I ordered two medium tacos and their Smashburger taco which were both delicious and flavorful. I also ordered a side of chips and queso as I'm a sucker for queso blanco. There's not only is tasty, but I have that nice Texan blend of veggies and spices this time around. I ordered the loaded nachos which come with brisket the queso Blanco, Crema corn and some other sauces. Going to keep trying new things but so far everything I've had has been very tasty. read more

Velvet Taco is such a classic spot for unique tacos. A little pricey for a taco, but they're STACKED. You NEED to try their chicken tikka taco if you haven't yet. Their queso is also delicious. I tried their chimichurri steak taco for the first time and enjoyed it, but I unfortunately wasn't too impressed with the crisp tots and sunny egg. It tasted dry and the egg didn't have that perfect runny yolk. The vibes and energy are always lively at this location. It can take a while to get through the line to order when it's busy, but the tacos are served pretty quickly. Seating is first come first serve. Note: If you order an alcoholic drink, you'll need to pair it with food (which can be an order of chips which are $1). Bonus tip: If you sign up for their rewards program, you can get a free slice of red velvet cake on your birthday! Nice and quick even with a crowd! Stopped in on a weekday to catch up with a friend and what a treat. It was a bit busy for a Thursday evening but the line moves pretty quick. I went with a shrimp taco and sangrita margarita w/Tajin rim. Then decided to grab a second taco which was a salmon taco. They both had a little hint of spice that wasn't so bad. (I don't do spicy at all). I was able to consume all that was placed before me. Let me say that I was really buzzed after finishing the margarita. Like what did they put in there? Lol. I went here for the first time, and my experience was a bit different than my family's. I had been wanting to try their tacos for a while. I loved how many taco options they had, and even though I'm on a pescatarian diet, I felt like I had lots of options. If you do not like to try tacos that are unique or you are looking for a bean and cheese taco, this is not the place for you (my daughter was disappointed). But if you want to try some fun and flavorful tacos, this is your spot. I got the fish and chips and the fried paneer. They were both amazing, I can't even tell you which one was my favorite. My husband got the hamburger taco, and he thought it was pretty good, but he thought the meat was a little greasy. My daughter is plane jane and took everything off the taco and just had salmon tacos. I do wish they had a kid menu. I will definitely come back but I will leave my kid at home. read more

So after seeing this place with high ratings in Austin I thought I would check this place out today. The service was quick efficient and very polite. I loved the vibe and the setup of the dining area seems to make a small area still feel comfortable. Tried a number of tacos today which had some hits and some misses and some chips and queso. The hits first here. The #11 a grilled steak and portobello mushrooms, queso blanco, crispy red onion, Mexican oregano, corn tortilla was very flavorful and the steak was very tender. I loved the taste. Next #12 Slow-roasted angus brisket barbacoa style, red chile aioli, avocado, roasted corn pico, queso blanco, micro cilantro, comté cheese encrusted flour tortilla. This taco was hands down a hit and would order this 7 days a week if I could. The #3 Spicy tikka chicken and the #9 Quesa birria duo were very good and were very enjoyable. I love Indian food and Butter Chicken is one of my favorite foods. This taco had decent spice and solid flavor. My only complaint was the chicken was breaded and the tikka sauce made the breading soggy. Quesadillas Birria duo also have very good flavor and was very good. Now the misses #2 Rotisserie chicken, the chicken was dry and with all the stuff on the taco I expected much more flavor. # 17 Mexi-Cali shrimp had a decent amount of heat to the taco but surprisingly lacked flavor. This surprised me because it was a favorite and was recommended by a friend. I will say the most disappointing part of the whole outing was the chips and queso. The queso had a solid smoky flavor and was very creamy. However the chips were very stale. This was very disappointing and made me wished I got the elote or the Tots and Eggs. At the end of the day not all tacos are amazing but this place definitely has some bright spots. You just have to be selective on what you order. read more

Velvet taco is SO GOOD. These are easily the best non-traditional tacos in DFW. Don't expect a legit street taco if you come here, but they come up with some crazy good combos. Buffalo Chicken, Chicken Tikka, Cuban Pig, brisket, Mexicali shrimp, all favorites! They are quick and efficient and generally friendly! It's an order at the counter and pick up food at the counter place, so service is minimal. The only thing I've never loved about velvet taco is the size of the restaurant. It's tiny, and I'd never try to come here with more than just the 2 of us. But the place is cool and very simple. Overall, win win win. read more

Also, their new Wednesday Taco each week keeps things interesting and provides out-of-the-box options constantly. You can check what they'll have every week for the whole month! Not a big taco person? No problem, because their purple nachos, along with their new bowls, are also delicious. Their Red Curry Queso is some of the best queso I've ever had in the entire nation. It's got a wonderfully unique, but still very curry, flavor to it that you've got to try. Plus, the chips that go with it are thick n crispy. This restaurant itself is swift at fulfilling orders, and has a very "dive-y" vibe to it. Very avant-garde in its surroundings. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but that doesn't mean they slack on delivering quality food every time. There's also water so take advantage and hydrate yourself before the show starts. There's plenty of seating available for small and large groups. Great experience! Came by here for lunch. The parking lot is a bit small but not to hard to get in and out of. I ordered three tacos and they were all pretty good. The tacos had a great presentation and were filling but not too heavy. They have plenty of menu options for anyone who has heavy preferences. The sauces they have on hand are also great to add if you need even more flavor on your food. I also tried the guacamole which was delightful. The interior was big enough to fit a normal lunch crowd. Service was quick, about a 5-7 minute wait from the time you place your order. Overall, a great spot for lunch or dinner. Korean fried rice- the flavorful one here, very greasy and fatty though. It was spilling grease all over the table. Need more pickled something to cut the fattiness. Kobe burger- okay Chx and waffles - tender chx and maple sweet if you like that. It was okay. Still no wow factor. Curry coconut queso- I was hoping for something interesting. It was not.
