Ahhh Torchy's. Either a hit, eh, or meh. In this case it was eh. We stopped here in early December on a Sunday morning for some breakfast tacos. I went with the steak egg and cheese and a migas. Sitting at the bar area, they got our food out promptly. While the tastes were alright, they lacked some seasoning and the cheese wasn't melted like I saw with other tacos that came out. I almost always get the shrimp tacos and since I only eat seafood it's a great affordable option, but the last few times there's been some issues prep wise; tails/shells fried INTO the shrimp and my last visit the shrimp weren't even properly cleaned (iykyk) which is a huge no no. First time at this location & honestly our first visit in quite a few years to any Torchy's. Now keep in mind we've never agreed a bad experience, but we do steer away from places that are too busy for us. On a cold, nasty, Sunday morning, however, the restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived, and we had an amazing experience. We were greeted in a very friendly manner by a very helpful young lady whose name I shamefully did not catch. Oh, and when it comes to clean, boy was this place clean!!! The tortillas were soft, puffy, and fresh. The toppings were in perfect proportions. The eggs - super fluffy! The gentleman who brought out our food actually said, "bon appetit!" Let me not forget to mention the churros. OMG so good! Crunchy on the outside, perfectly soft inside, and an amazing little chocolate sauce on the side. Now, there is one disappointment and one suggestion I have. They used to have a Bloody Mary with a bunch of goodies stuffed in it. As there was no evidence of a Bloody Mary anywhere I could see on the menu, we ordered them anyway. The only thing the young lady taking our order was focused on (and I mean Uber-focused) was what we wanted in the rim. So, tasty as they were, a Bloody Mary with just one skimpy olive is a total disappointment. When I went up to order the churros, the manager took my order, and I asked him about the Mack Daddy Bloody Mary. He told me next tim to order the one in the beer schooner. The concern I have is that it may just be the same thing, only larger. Also, crushed ice in a Bloody Mary is not a good idea. It jams up the straw and waters down the drink too quickly. The suggestion is this: there has to be a better way to offer sauces for the tacos than pre-deciding what I want and portioning it out in little one ounce cups. I completely did not care for the sauce on the Ranch Hand. The heat overwhelmed the flavor of the meat. I am not trying to re-invent the wheel here, so maybe clarify what the sauces are, offer a choice, and offer more than a one ounce cup. We had a good experience here for our first time trying Torchy's! This location has a pretty big indoor space along with a sizable outdoor space (under a tent with heaters) for dine in folks. We placed our order at the counter for the hillbilly queso & chips along with 4 tacos. Our chips & queso arrived shortly after we found a table, and our tacos arrived pretty much as we were finishing up the chips & queso :D The queso here was truly delicious. It was creamy and cheesy, and we loved the addition of the chorizo on top -- definitely recommend this as an appetizer for the table! Onto the tacos. This was my first time at a Torchy's Taco. The girl who took my order wasn't friendly and either seemed to be having a bad day or hates her job. I told her I was allergic to cilantro and asked if it was in the queso. She said yes, but I could order it without cilantro. I ordered a Democrat taco and told her no cilantro and no guacamole. The girl who delivered our food seemed to have the exact temperament of the girl taking orders - either having a bad day or hates her job. She brought only my taco and I had to tell her I also ordered queso with no cilantro. Then I noticed that my taco was covered with cilantro. So when she came back with my queso, I told her I had told the order girl I was allergic to cilantro and asked for the taco and queso to be without cilantro as well as no guacamole. When she came back with a supposedly corrected taco, it now had no cilantro, no guacamole and also no cheese. So I had to catch her again and ask her for cheese. Each time she came to our table she was more put out and less friendly. I apologized and told her this was my first time there and I HAD mentioned to the girl taking my order of my cilantro allergy. Once I got past all that, the taco tasted great and I liked that the corn tortilla was thicker and didn't break. The queso was hotter than I prefer, but had a good taste. We ate on the patio as it seemed loud with the acoustics inside. It was ok at first, but then about 4 families with a ton of little kids came to sit on the patio too. Food comes out pretty quick too with efficient food delivery system. Democrat Taco - really rich and the barbacoa is very tender. Personally a heavy flavor for me but I don't like that hearty of flavors. My family has been coming here for 10+ years, but we are not regulars, due to that fact. 100% of the time, more than one or two things come out wrong. I'm a fan of Torchy's and have been for a long time. My experience today has changed that. When the Torchy's location I visit has a bar, I usually order from and eat at the bar. Today, I went into this location at midafternoon and sat at the bar. There was only one other individual seated, about 4 seats down from me. The bartender, a young woman with pink hair, was actively engaged in a conversation with the patron at the bar. No doubt I was in plain sight. But I sat there for 2-3 minutes and didn't get any acknowledgment, so I decided to order my taco at the register and come back to the bar and get my drink when maybe the bartender wasn't so "busy." I came back to the bar and sat where I was seated previously and the bartender and the customer are still talking. I figured at some point she'd come ask me if I wanted something to drink. Nope. I sat for about ten minutes and the bartender just kept shooting the shit with the customer. She then proceeded to walk to the end of the bar, walking right past me, and never even attempted to make eye contact. She grabbed whatever she went to get then walked past me again and went back to talking to the customer. My food came after I had been there 8-10 minutes and I thought that might prompt her to come ask me if I wanted some to drink. Again, no dice. Still blabbling. I just decided to tough it out. I proceeded to eat my Ace of Spades and left. Total time at bar: 21 minutes. No beer, no offer of a glass of water. Not even an acknowledgment. What a garbage excuse for service. Dear Torchy's Team, I am writing to share a disappointing experience my family and I had at your Preston Road, Frisco location (2947 Preston Rd, Frisco, TX 75034) on March 15 during dinner. We have been loyal customers of Torchy's for over 11 years, and one of the reasons we love visiting is the Diablo and Poblano sauces, which enhance the flavor of your tacos. During our visit, we ordered nine tacos at the counter. However, when our food was brought to the table, no sauce was provided. When I requested some, the server informed me that she could only give three sauces. I explained that in all our years visiting Torchy's, we had never encountered a limit on sauces. Given the number of tacos we ordered, I asked for additional sauce, but she insisted that the tacos already contained sauce and could not provide more. I then approached the main counter where I had placed the order and asked again. While an employee went inside to get sauce, the same server returned and firmly stated that I would not be given any more. Her tone and response made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I expressed my frustration, explaining that we had spent over $40 on tacos, yet were being denied additional sauce--something we had never encountered before at this or any other Torchy's location. When I requested to speak with the manager, I was met with the same response: they would not provide additional sauce unless I paid for it. The manager even stated that if we had received extra sauce in the past, it was a mistake and that we should have been charged. I pointed out that I could see sauce pouches on other customers' tables, but the manager insisted that I would have to purchase additional sauce. This entire interaction left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. The lack of flexibility and the way the situation was handled completely ruined our dining experience. In the past, we had a situation where a taco was poorly prepared, and the manager at the time not only replaced it but also offered a $5 coupon as a goodwill gesture. That was an example of excellent customer service--acknowledging the issue and ensuring a positive experience. Unfortunately, this visit was the complete opposite. As a longtime customer, I wanted to bring this to your attention. Even if there is now a policy limiting sauce, the way this was communicated and handled was unacceptable. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as customer service plays a crucial role in maintaining loyal patrons. read more

Torchy's is appropriately named, as it seems they freakin TORCH all of their food, with all the spices! For example: the salsa was so spicy that even I, an avid spicy food lover, could not enjoy it. But I did really love the shrimp tacos, those were genuinely amazing. Squeeze some fresh lime on them and drizzle a little of the housemate provided sauce, and it's a whole party in your mouth. The fried avocado taco on the other hand, was wayy too much and kind of gross, and that's coming from a girl who loves her avocado and guac as much as the spicier assortments. Overall Torchy's is a fun, modern place. I don't think I'd come consistently because it's also just super loud and a little chaotic and a bit too much for my taste, but hey go for the shrimp tacos! read more

First off WE WON FREE QUESO SHIRT FOR A YEAR!!! Just seeing the excitement of the staff and how accommodating they were when were standing in line had already given me good vibes of this location. Lately some of the Torchy's locations that I have been going have been horrible, food is bad, drinks bad, service bad. To the point where Torchy's had gone on my "Don't go back to this chain" List. WELL I TAKE BACK MY WORDS. The Frisco location is GREAT. The staff is so welcoming and accommodating for dine in, takeout, or pickup. No matter how crowded and busy it was, there was always someone on staff to help you immediately with your troubles and to make sure that you are having a great experience. FINALLY I had torchy's the way I used to remember it, everything tasted fresh, not greasy, and good drinks! I can't wait to come back again and again! OFC my favorite tacos from here Brushfire and Trailer Park (make it trashy) and their award winning Queso that has guac mixed in.
